I love All Things MUST Pass. George wrote this song for his Dad after his mum passed away to help him with his grief on losing his wife...and George's mum. So special and soothing in a sad way.
George is known to have pondered the meaning of life by saying....."I remember thinking I just want more. This isn't it. Fame is not the goal. Money is not the goal. To be able to know how to get peace of mind, how to be happy, is something you don't just stumble across. You've got to search for it."

I think that people underestimate the importance of Brian Epstein. He was the glue that held them all together. They slowly began to drift apart after his death.
Not to mention John, George and Ringo wanted Allen Klein as their new manager, whereas Paul wanted Linda's father and brother to manage the Beatles affairs.

This was George's first single after the Beatles broke up. Huge #1 hit. There's another song on this album worth hearing called "What Is Life" that was released as the follow-up single. You might also want to check out George's song "Give Me Love, Give Me Peace On Earth." I think it was on that same album, if memory serves. By the way, if you want to hear a pure fire rendition of this song (My Sweet Lord), check out Billy Preston singing it at "The Concert for George" (after he died, where a ton of music superstars gathered to sing a bunch of George Harrison songs as a tribute to him). Billy Preston was known as "the 5th Beatle." Also performing on the song were Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne (of ELO), Dhani Harrison (pronounced "Danny," George's son...who looks just like his dad), Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney (the closest to a Beatles reunion we ever got), and others. ruclips.net/video/1EORbL8N-R8/видео.html
You could drop the needle on just about any track on the first 2 records of "All Things Must Pass" and find a great song. I still say "Isn't It A Pity (version 1)" is probably his greatest recording. Especially when you consider he'd written it when he was about 23 years old. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
George was very spiritual. This song is an anthem to Hare Krishna. My Sweet Lord is from George's first album post Beatles, called All Things Must Pass. This DOUBLE album is a masterpiece. It explores George's spirituality where there was no room to do so within the Beatles. George's second solo album, Living in the Material World is almost as good and it explores his spirituality even more.
This is one of the most beautifully earnest spiritual songs ever. "What Is Life", "Wah-Wah", and "Let It Down" off this same album are amazing. I also strongly encourage you to listen to "Love You To" and "Within You Without You" by The Beatles; two George Harrison compositions that really exemplified his spirituality and comfort with eastern instruments and sounds.
Not sure if anyone mentioned that he was sued (and lost) a copyright infringement case over this song being lifted from "He's So Fine". He's still one of my favorites.
I adore the whole ALL THINGS MUST PASS album and bought it when it first came out. I used to play the title song each morning for awhile after my mother died. This is such a beautiful song, George Harrison was an amazing musician. Check him out with the band The Traveling Wilburys, it was a super group made up of Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne.
Thank you for putting the spotlight on George! His strength (aside from playing incredible guitar) is that he's so honest and sincere in his music. And, yes, he's a very spiritual guy, so he touched on that subject a lot in his solo career. For more solo George, try, "Isn't It a Pity" or "All Things Must Pass." Those are really deep, moving songs.

One of my favorite songs by the Beatles and George in particular is "It's All Too Much," from the Yellow Submarine movie and soundtrack album--one of the most joyful (and psychedelic) songs I know.
He had a Middle Eastern/India religion that he discovered later in his life and he devoted himself to it, heart and soul. George was very special and was the heart of the Beatles to me.
When you want to know perfect love, there is only One. Love is Spirit is Life. Everyone will fail you. As humans, that is inevitable. God's love shines, bursts forth from within when your heart longs to be loved, to know love. George enunciated a beautiful and perfect prayer in this song, a masterpiece, a profound blessing.
I love George so much! My favorite Beatle! (John was second) George actually was the first Beatle to quit, (in 1968) but came back two weeks later. (see the movie Get Back) He was just tired of his work being pushed aside on Beatle albums, just getting one or two max. (He did get three songs on Revolver) But by 1970, The Beatles had been together fro ten years, and they were all in their late 20's ready to branch out and create their own magic. George had so much music written at the time of the break up, it became his 3 album masterpiece "All Things Must Pass" (Which My Sweet Lord is from) Just Perfection. And George's voice? gentle and smooth, but strong and sometimes rough too. His voice can be so soothing, and his spirituality surrounds you with warmth. I have so many favorites, but What is Life?, Give Me Love-Give me Peace on Earth, The Art of Dying, Here Comes the Sun, and Something, of course. He had an amazing life, but never forgot where he came from. Gone too soon, but loved forever. Thanks for you fun review and many happy listening s to all new music to you!
I remember learning that the Beatles had broken up when I was about 6 years old. They'd been broken up for a couple of years and I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach, I felt genuine childhood grief. WHY??? They sound like such great friends? They get along, they are funny! What happened??? I asked my mom through sobs and SHE said, it was because they grew up. The Beatles was for kids. It was for people falling in love, not for people who were married and had all kinds of life or death responsibilities involving all these complex social and legal relationships. It was just too complicated. They had to go off and become individual adults with wives and kids. Another take on their breakup is that they never really broke up. On the late Beatles albums they were each writing their own songs. It was like a compilation of solo projects. Then when they did solo projects they constantly collaborated with each other. But there was a magic to the Beatles being all together at once. The Saturday Night Live where Loren Greene (joke, Paul McCartney would get it) the director ;-) of SNL offers the Beatles a 1000$ if they do a reunion on SNL. That prospect really struck a chord with a lot of people, and again when it was learned that it almost happened.
The Beatles broke up because they grew up. They started off as young kids trying to find themselves; and they did, and that was it. Comes time to fly the coop and do your own thing eventually - they did it right and their timing was perfect. They were the 60's.
The "4 headed' creative magical machine was getting tired of being a single entity and was morphing into 4 individuals. They left on a magical mystical high never to be duplicated again
Since this is Harrison's big single right after going solo, you might want to try Lennon's and McCartney's equivalents: "Instant Karma!" and "Maybe I'm Amazed". Two utterly incredible songs.
My favorite George Harrison song is "Here Comes The Sun" from Abbey Road, but you ought to check out The Beatles "Do You Want To Know A Secret" from 1963 for an example of the maturity of his earlier song writing. "My Sweet Lord" is a total vibe. One of my earliest musical memories involves hearing it on the radio at the ice cream shop my parents took me too after church when I was very young and it was top of the pops. Dig the way the bass and drums sort of sneak up on the song half way through, expanding the overall sound in a way that gives support to the backup vocals while letting the whole tune breathe.
AND the video for it.....and RINGO is in it, and watch for Phil Collins walk by carrying one of Lennon's albums under his arm, Paul & Ringo did backing vocals. ruclips.net/video/AVu6nPTVbBQ/видео.html

That prospect really struck a chord with a lot of people, and again when it was learned that it almost happened.
The spiritual journey Beatle who is my absolute hero. I’ve been to Fryar Park as part of my pilgrimage to this truth teller. 🙏
"isn't it a pity", gets me every time!
Beautiful song by a beautiful beatle
Smooth and demanding ... yes, quite an interesting set of qualities! George is awesome!
If we are doing George, gotta do "What Is Life", or maybe "Give Me Love". Or, maybe...
What is Life is probably my favorite of his songs, post Beatles. Such a great groove and killer riff.
This Is Love
@@christophersessions3375 I agree with you totally on that!!
You should do Reaction of BLUE JAY WAY BY THE BEATLES. George wrote this song and it is very strange.
My sweet George ❣️❤️❣️❣️❣️!!!!
G.H. at his "BEST". Best person, Beattle spiritual "Rocker" ever.
My favorite Beatle 💕
The Beatles broke up because they grew up. They started off as young kids trying to find themselves; and they did, and that was it. Comes time to fly the coop and do your own thing eventually - they did it right and their timing was perfect. They were the 60's.
You’ll love “What Is Life” too man.
One of my favorite George songs is All Things Must Pass. He has so many.
George wrote one of Ringo's first solo hits called "It Don't Come Easy".
This is my favorite song of all time, george changed my views on so many things
This song made George my favorite Beatle
The "4 headed' creative magical machine was getting tired of being a single entity and was morphing into 4 individuals. They left on a magical mystical high never to be duplicated again
Fab by George Harrison
The Beatles visited the Maharishi Yogi in India. George became a searcher for God.
He wrote lots of great songs. This is just one of them.
Since this is Harrison's big single right after going solo, you might want to try Lennon's and McCartney's equivalents: "Instant Karma!" and "Maybe I'm Amazed". Two utterly incredible songs.
My fav. song ever! 👍
Perfect. "The Inner Light" is silly good. Truth knows who it is.
My favorite song from george harrison is got my mind set on you
My favorite George Harrison song is "Here Comes The Sun" from Abbey Road, but you ought to check out The Beatles "Do You Want To Know A Secret" from 1963 for an example of the maturity of his earlier song writing.
"What Is Life" is a must
Check out “When We Was Fab” from his Cloud Nine album. You’re guaranteed to like it.
AND the video for it.....and RINGO is in it, and watch for Phil Collins walk by carrying one of Lennon's albums under his arm, Paul & Ringo did backing vocals. ruclips.net/video/AVu6nPTVbBQ/видео.html
