How about the RPM act to help keep the EPA at bay. Some of the stuff the the EPA will be enforcing

So everyone loves the GMC Syclone and Typhoon, but somehow this is sacrilegious?!?! Great work guys!!! Glad to see something other than another cookie-cutter lifted 4x4!!
Magic6GMC Agreed 👍🏻
yup to each their own. my coworker has a lifted 2wheel drive.
Everyone loves a SyTy until they own one. You have to have Bill Gates money to have a nice one. Even a 4L80E swap is 5k+ and very few people still support the 4.3 turbo. A turbo L33 LS2 or LS3 is the only way I'd consider having another. So many parts are specific to that platform.
It sounds dumb at first but the thing is the syclone and typhoon are awd while this k1500 is 4wd theirs a difference
@@ericksanchez7787 they converted it to awd
I like the easy to get in/out height, and the secret 4wd to get out of mud or snow when needed. Best of both worlds for a daily driver.
Not what the lowering is for.. going to AWD I'm sure

These older Chevy 4x4’s are perfect for lowering if you still want the four wheel drive to work. The independent front suspension works better with lowering than a solid axle would. My old friend in Alaska lowered her 1995 GMC Silverado 4x4 regular cab short bed back in 1996 after she bought it. She wanted something that looked similar to a 454 SS truck but that still had four wheel drive for the winter. Her truck looked great and in four wheel drive it would launch hard especially compared to a normal rear wheel drive truck. She got her lowering kit from BellTech way back in 1996.
this is exactly what people dont get on here. Some people still want practical vehicles that look good but cant get over the fact that someone lowers a 4x4 truck. I guess they forget about the silverado ss which is lowered from the factory.
@@StingrayJen I guess some people forgot that the SS was an overpriced, impractical, unpopular truck that barely sold enough to justify production, and is only driven by rich floridians that've never been off the interstate...
I love a good slammed 4x4. Screw what the close minded immature people say. It’s different and cool
O 2:34
Dropped 4x4 is great, now how about putting some real power down to make it an awd street killer....like the awd ladybug....
Jose L ahh but he got clapped by leathal weapon
@@zekke602 yea true but they a both dope obs truck....
I'll race it in my off road truck and we'll see who wins lol. They made a 4x4 street princess and that's all they did but at least it looks better than most other street princesses, unfortunately it won't make it down my road, sad.
@@reaperasylum2163 Your truck is suited for your usage case, which is brilliant. For those rest of us that live more urban snow belt areas where there is only practical parking one vehicle (if you can find a space big enough to fit it in), this thing would be a brilliant choice. It's big enough to be useful, small enough to fit most places, and still practical to use in any condition. There are a couple other places that these still beautiful "street princess" would be much better than your off-road oriented machine. 3am bombs around curvy backroads while dodging deer. At track or auto cross events. Wouldn't it be hilarious to pass some Miata drivers in a truck around turns?!
These trucks will be lighter too. Especially the wheels, tires, and suspension. If you know anything about physics, aerodynamics and fast vehicles in general, lighter and lower improves many things on the road. It should also be noted that given equivalent power and both trucks in 4 high, the lowered truck will be faster. Mind you, I'm not saying that they're better than yours, just better for different usage cases. Enjoy your truck and be proud of what you built!
@@storejoshuprite not gonna lie I agree with ya bud, that's why I'm not doggin it and why I called it a street princess instead of a pos lol, see urban drivers such as most would benefit from a truck like this cause it's practical, my situation however a car simply cannot drive down the roads I live on so I know for a fact a lowered truck wouldn't either and mine is an old farm truck with brand new engine and trans so it to has it's use. As far as racing, on street I know that truck would win, on dirt I got it. And that obs chevy does look good and I'm looking forward to next episode when they convert it to awd.
here come the possums saying 'trokiando cuh'
I still don't get why they all have to copy each other saying that shit.

Those taillights have to go!
Put the stock lights back
Budget wouldn't let you get better lug nuts? Those look horrid
I remember when I was 16, had $50, and pepboys was still open...
In the early 2000’s before a turbo was a big thing guys were taking 4WD trucks dropping them and making homemade turbo kits and they were fast as shit back in the day. Back then they were making 500HP and that much power back in the day was fucking quick.
In for all the lowered 4x4 hate..
Just get a 2w but wheel.. ok good for winter snow drive, after plowing....at min massive power needing traction I hope.
No doubt could of traded for my 1989 Silverado step side 2wd and lowered that 🙈
@@ccdevil8879 ...is it all wheel drive?
Badass build! As a Typhoon owner, I totally dig this!
Now time for that slow tired 350 to go. And replace it with LS7 🤩
Next week on Powermotion
Watch as we raise a 1998 Z28 6" and add a set of Super Swampers.
So glad I seen this video i resenlty got a 2003 Silverado Z71 and had put off road rims on it 33x12.50r22 my tires but I didn't like that look so I sold them and I got 26 inch replicas on 295/30/r26 and first thing I heard big wheels on a 4x4 lol watching this made me feel better about my choice I don't want to be like every on else's trucks I want to lower it next. You guys make it look so easy little by little I'll have it how I want to look.👌
Man that's clean. Not everyone takes their truck offroad, and not everybody lives away from snow. The truck still has plenty of ground clearance and is still useful in town and on minor muddy roads
Powernation: Lowering a 4wd...
Me: runs for the hills.
How original
I'd rather have seen a soild axle swap
Me too - should of done a solid axle swap.
I actually think this will be a really nice road truck, with 4wd in snow will definitely be awesome.
@@izzyplusplusplus1004 that's the thing they turned an off road machine into a damn street princess that can never see the off road side of things, so where the pavement ends their asses are on foot where as before there was no place it couldn't go. Now they and anybody else that does this being it's their truck they can do what they want but if it were me I'd just add lockers and haul ass, all of my trucks have been 4x4 because where I live no one can get there unless otherwise.
Hell yeah I love this! I’ve always wanted a single cab short wheelbase 4wd street truck! 4 high and let her fly!
Lowered 4WD trucks are the future
LT can lay down a very fine looking weld and end product. That level of art and skill converged worthy of renegotiation.
I love the thoughts on this build! Original content!
Always wondered if this could be done, glad it can be! Would make a sweet daily/work truck
I wouldn't mind duplicating this build! It's my favorite body style truck!
I love this show I like the way you guys explaining stuff and do the different crazy thing truck is awesome 👍
Finally!! I couldn’t find a video on lowering a 4x4 obs! Already lowered mine but thanks🤣

Rogue Mentality I bet you’re from the south, huh buddy?
@@Omarlooopez buuuullshit! Don't dump his ass on us brother...
sykwookiee haha it’s all good I’m from Arkansas🤣 IM FROM THE SOUTH🤣
Came here for the comments and God I wasn’t disappointed! 😂 That thing will launch like a mofo when they get some power in it.
David Attanasio, I had a '75 blazer with a 480 inch. Big block in it with big cam, heads, still couldn't keep up with two wheel drive pickups or cars. Twisted drive lines and destroyed my transfer case. In the real world things are not so easy as they are in your imagination. Of course if you were born into a wealthy family, anything is possible.
I did a 5/8 on my 2wd 88’ and it was a pain in the front! Changed the spindle to a HD so I even had to swap the brakes. It was worth it in the end though!
Where can I see pics?
I like the idea behind this. A powerful lowered 4x4 will handle like it's on rails at a track event. Cool idea!😎😎
Wish I could have gotten my hands on that Chevy truck. Lowering it isn't the way I would of done it. It looks great lowered but I would of left it alone it was a sharp looking truck the way it was. I would of done some upgrades on the drive train , engine and swapped it over to a manual transmission. Another awesome show guys keep up the good work and content enjoy the hell out of everything y'all do and happy New year

We're raising a Tesla and putting mud tires on it!

@@gerardohtx207 I love how much butthurt that trucks caused. Makes me want one just for that reason alone 🤣

I been wanting to do this to my k1500 for a long time!
Can't wait to see how she does on the track
Nice! I have same exact truck but a 94. Almost mint Condition!
I love this build. So cool.
This is how I'd do a daily k1500 and the tire set up this truck came with would definitely be a nice semi stock mudding truck. This trucks experienced best of both a mud truck with how it came and then turned into a true daily pick up in the end that gets that 4x4 to get ur ass end outta the snow when needed
Siempre buenos trabajos👏👏🍻
I could see doing this to my dad's 94 just so he could get in and out of it easier. It's hard for him to hop up into any truck.
Funny... I raised my 89 K2500 when I bought it new... and just this past year... lowered it. Yep... I'm getting old. BUT, I think it looks awsome.. it's like a new truck all over again.. well.. It kinda is.. I did the the old frame off resto. GMT 400 Forever!
How big of a drop?
@@SirGuidemere91 stock - 1 inch all around via wheel and tire combo. 255/55r18 I believe. Only one tire in that size class E, and its Goodyear TA's. Ill dbl check in a couple days
@@hawkdsl oh gotcha. I thought you meant you lowered it lowered it. I have a 2” front and back right now but I bought this flip kit and will be installing soon.
@@SirGuidemere91 excellent.. I may do something like that in the future
@@hawkdsl I love the 2” drop kit Belltech has. But I’d like to bring the rear down lower to match the front end
I love the idea of a lowered 4x4 race truck. Put a turbo LS setup in it and make a monster street truck.
4x4 & all wheel drive are not remotely the same.
Theodore Dowman thanks for that pretty obvious info, but I didn’t mention all wheel drive at all. I’m well aware that there is a big difference. 4x4 launches work pretty well on the street though. I understand if lowered 4x4’s are not you thing. Generally speaking they are not mine either. But I think it’s a cool build and could be a fast street truck. There are plenty of lowered late model 4x4 GM trucks with turbo LS’s that are fast and I like those builds. Anyway, to each his own....
Bruhhhhhhh 😍😍😍😍 the wheel and model combo
i've always been curious if it was possible to lower a 4wd, and now i see its not that hard. it should launch like a rocket now and make a great drag truck for the street nicely done
That's a sharp looking truck.
That’s a badass truck. I raised my 2000 but always wanted to lower it for something different
Wish a show would just do a segment like this from parts where we as consumers can find these parts .
Did the exact same on a 2014..Made it alot easier for the owner, which is in a wheelchair .
The wheels look like the newer Sierra and Silverado wheels. Looks good! I was thinking about going this direction with my 2016 Sierra, they look pretty sick lowered. But here in NY state we get a little bit of snow and I don't wanna be plowing the streets lol
Always wanted to do this. Would make for a great daily driver. Plus make for a fun hot rod too
My truck is a Chevrolet 99 1500 4x4 4-6 drop and when I put the 4x4 my cv joints on the axels break why do they break
I Love it.. just now seeing it..
I've got a lowered 99 z71 and I love it
Lowered my 5.7 TRD Off Road 4x4 RCSB Tundra to a 3/4 and never looked back, never do any off roading so no point in having it lifted for me 😁👍🏼
Good tip on welding thin metal! Welding pipe, and sheet metal is where I lack experience.
That's actually a good idea, I have a k1500 ext cab and it never sees off road... now I have plans lol
@Rogue Mentality because I needed a truck asap and it was available in my price range, I also live in alberta canada where 6 months of the year is snow and ice so 4 wheel drive is a great thing.
Just because I don't go off road doesn't mean I don't use 4x4 lol
Ken Graham, driving on Canada's roads during the winter time, is like driving off-road.
@@olderthanyoucali8512 exactly why I have a 4x4 lol
Awesome video, quick question... how many shock extensions did you use total because they come in sets of 2 so do i need to order just 1 set or 2 sets? And how did you achieve 4 inches drop in the front from torsion keys that say they only lower the vehicle 3 inches?
I understand the concept of making a full size Typhoon clone. I bought a GMC C3 in the early 2000's. It was a super nice truck with all wheel drive, not four wheel drive and handled pretty well.
I've also thought a regular cab, short bed pickup can make a cool hot rod muscle truck. So if this guy drops in a built LSX motor and stick shift trans it would be super cool! Build a pro touring style truck out of it. Not sure how the driveline will hold up under big power though.
I had a 95' Z71 extended cab shot bed and stock that truck bogged through everything I ever threw at it.. including a swamp that was like almost an 1/8th mile across and water was 3 feet deep and idk how deep the mud was but 4 low powered through no prob no stopping and backing up just straight through slow and torque'y
I love it! I have been into Low riders for years. I have a 53 Ford station wagon slam to the ground. Great build!
Now that looks great. 👍🤙😃✌️
always wanted to see a 4wd lowered , cool.
I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Truly awesome
Finally someone doing what i want to do with a 4x4 truck :) Thank you!!! Anyway this could be all wheel drive?
I love it!!!
This could make for a truck that pulls around truns, 4x4 on pavment will binde in truns some.
This could be amazeing on a auto cross trake...
I'm super glad they did this build cuz im in love with this setup and it needs lots of aftermarket parts to make the Awd as good as the trackhawk. My dream truck is s10 size with whipple Ls 10speed awd.... A truck that performs like gymkahana
IF I planned on staying in Salisbury,MD I would think about lowering my 4x4 Ram but I will be moving to the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area in a few years so I will stay stock or maybe do a 2" leveling kit in the front because they have more snow and hills.
I like this. 👍
Truck looks good. I have basically same body style but mine is a 2013. I bought it new and haven’t done any mods. Couldn’t even get up the courage to drill holes for mud flaps.
Had a Syclone years back. Fun to drive but an absolute nightmare to keep running.
“Aye bruh you tryna trade yo reps cuhh”
“Should’ve swanged them 6’s cuhh”
LT is the Best!!
I think it's awesome. I thought about doing same with my Chevy.
nice looking truck you got their
Hey powernation awesome video! How many sets of shock extensions do i need? They come in pairs of 2. The shocks you used are not longer available so I’m buying the bell tech ones that are for 2/4 drop but will be going 4/7
Now, like the Cyclone/Typhoon, this truck needs a turbo system.
Do you mean a LS turbo
I say whipple, then see what kind of lauches those 8.25's can take if they only have to handle about half the power each.
back in the day we use to take a torch and heat up the cool springs and put lowering blocks on the rear and slam it to the ground
All the cameos here! 😎
I lowered a 99 Denali 4wd I had few years back. Looked great and I loved it. I'm fixing to lower my 2003 Avalanche 4x4 as well
I like the sheet metal welding magnets. Where did you get them from. Great video the Ute is going to look great when finished. G'day from Australia.😀
With a lt4 engine uufff 😍 and slap some slicks on all 4
It is quite interesting I've always wondered doing something like that with a k10 square body
Looked good how it was before
it looked super 90's
Now time for a transfer case swap. Wonder if a NP case from a Jeep would fit up to that trans. I love my 98 Jeep ZJ 5.9 Limited and its AWD. I could imagine an AWD capable transfer case in that would make it more fun.
Momma always said be different!!
mama also said stupid is as stupid does
Love it! Now I want one just like it.
Love it nice
now this is content
Regardless of when this was aired or uploaded... 4X4s and AWDs are basically the same, just depends on the trans-axle gearing and the front diff. Meanwhile SS Trailebrazers, SRT8/Trackhawks (That Silver SRT8 Jeep that AZN from Street Outlaws has digs really hard on the street) not to mention the AWD EVs and 911s that fly to 60 in under 3.0secs.
i’ve always seen this like LT does and everyone hates me for it. Glad someone sees it too!
I did the same lowering job on my 1999 chevy suburban k1500 LT 4x4 about a year ago. It looks good and rides ALOT better.
Matthew Lane Can this be done to a 95 Two door Tahoe?
you guys get a lot of flak. but yall do good work and this build was cool 👍🏻
Why didn’t you spray rust converter on the frame and parts under the bed after you cleaned it?
Is the front axle of the typhoon/cyclone AWD and as strong as the one used on the Red Tide? Or are there others similar to those with the same track width?
It looks Badass 😎 😍😛
I know everyone says it ruins a 4wd to lower it and you should just get a 2wd well the thing is everyone wants a 2wd for that so when you can find one they cost more. For me I’m in the PNW and I am having a hard time finding a stock 2wd obs that hasn’t already been built but I can find 4wd all day in decent condition for under $2500. Plus I can obviously do 4wd launch’s and drive my street truck all year long. Of course my daily is 4wd and lifted so best of both worlds.
The front keys when I clicked on the ones you tagged said it only drops 1-3 inches.
This is bad ass. I’ve wanted to do this on a 92-96 4wd f150 but I don’t know how low you can get with the ttb and still have it align and function correctly. If you can’t get at least 3” lower it’s not really worth it to me/
What is the Summit kit catolog # so I can order one.
Always thought that any mods to a 4 wheel drive meant going HIGHER. You proved differently, good on ya. Question, why not paint back of the the cab and box while they were apart ? These '88 to '98 short box, single cab trucks are so nice to have and drive.
I would have loved to see those old five star wheels repurposed with a set of 295/50r15 tires
Project Low Tide, for pickin up clams.
