Hell yea dude! Love this truck this is exactly what i needed to lower my 88. Going for the same street truck vibe got a l83 going in it soon. You and project red tide are by far the coolest 4x4 obs chevys ive seen
Ironically, you probably use the 4x4 more now that you’re racing it than that truck has seen in its entire life and also the guys who hate on lowered 4x4s never actually use their 4x4 lol
Very Nice truck. I am lowering a 94 Gmc Yukon GT at some point. Planning on starting with a 3/3.5 drop, but I think I may end up wanting to go with a 4/5.5 instead. Flipping the keys and 3.5 drop leaf springs and possibly 2 inch shackles.
What springs did you use? All of the lowering parts I find say they only fit 2wd trucks. I have an 89 4x4 I want to lower more than the 2" drop shackles I put on. Is a crotch needed for anything lower?
Really clean truck! 👍🏽 .... I’ve been thinking doing this to my 92 k1500 blazer. I’ve had a 91 c1500 single cab and I did a 2/4 drop with just front spindles & rear shackles and hangers, I loved the Stance on it. You think I can do the same to my 92 blazer ?
I just did this today on my 98 z71. Rear was as easy as any other flip kit. But the front keys in my case wouldn’t go in upside-down without modification. So I had to grind a spot on the key to clear the little dimple that I guess is a bump stop from the factory that is located inside where the torsion key goes. Otherwise it sits very low now. I’m happy
Hey man, I just did this to my 1990 k1500, took it to do an aligment and the guy said something about notching the frame on the upper control arm mounts to fix camber, did you run into the same issue?
John Charmley I go over it briefly in my previous video where I talk about getting faster. I do not have a video specifying exactly what I did, but the install is pretty straight forward on all of them. And in general, the more uphill they run, the more anti squat or separation you’ll get. The more parallel or downhill, you’ll get more squat.
@@DigginZ71 my truck is 2/4 drop 2wd, I cheaped out and went with speed engineering traction bars and the things are at like a 15 degree angle. Really not possible to get them parallel, so i did my best to get the gap between the eyelet and the bumper closest to 1/8 inch and it got rid of wheel hop but i can never find a set up video. I'm not pushing too much power, I'm only cam/stall/tune.
John Charmley that’s honestly probably a good place to put them. Trucks need a good bit of angle in order to achieve anti squat like a radial or street tire will want. Anything else you do will just be adding a little preload to one side or the other to help it drive straight.
I am not sure! I first found the idea after looking at some Nissan hardbodies doing it. Give it a try and find out! Ultimately, it’s free to try minus a couple hours of work.
Pepe's 97 you can order pinion shims from pretty much any big site like summit or jegs. But, the angle depends on your setup some. I’m no expert on it, but it depends on your driveshaft angle and lots of things.
Kevin James it is very close, but I have probably only hit the frame once or twice since I’ve been driving the truck lowered. I think it’d be a good idea, but I haven’t needed it.
Diggin_Z71 I was also thinking about a 3/5 heard it’s a 6in flip kit with 1 in lift shackle, but I can’t find any that only lift 1inch. Do you know of any?
@@DigginZ71 oh I’m sorry. I should’ve been more clear. When you installed the flip kit, did you go back to factory shackles? Or did you keep the 2 in drops in?
Angel Perez I’m honestly not sure how it would work with lowering keys. I imagine it would work the same. But, the keys are indexed slightly different, I’m not sure how that would effect it. Give it a try and let me know!
LMFAO at all the haters that have given you shit but don't realize that a large portion of the diesel community lowers their 4x4 trucks for the same damn reason you did. But it's ok for the diesel guys to do it. Obviously the only time you ever need more traction is in mud pits. Duh.
My welds are 15x10” on the rear and 15x9” on the front with 275/60/15 radial pros. My street tire setup is a set of newer stock 18” Silverado wheels with 255/45/18

Awesome truck man, quick question was you 4x4 still useable? With time will it mess up?
Lol I love it
Having a lowered 4wd is much better than 2wd if you live in the pnw 😅
This is what I want to do.
hello, congratulations on the truck, where did you buy all the parts you needed?
Hey man was wondering what pinion shims and shocks you used for the back. Sick truck btw
Very inspiring thanks 👌🏽 I see that you put a link for tie rod sleeves, is there a reason why they need to be replaced?
The factory tie rod adjusters are very flimsy and the weakest point in a gmt400 4x4 setup imo. So upgrading those is a must for longevity sake.

@@JoseGomez-zl1ig the alignment shop didn’t say anything was wrong. Just dropped it off and they said it aligned fine with no issues.

Nice
Wait a minute so all you have to do is flip the torsion keys? Like that’s it? 🤯🤯🤯
What kind of lowering kit did you use? I need one for my 1995 GMC Sierra 4WD.
Teach me how to lower mine !!
Hey what size are you front shocks. Just got an 93 Z71 looking to do the 4/6 drop
Did you have to notch the frame for the rear?
Sorry to bother but do u have the link to the flip kit for the back
SICKKKKK!!!
when you flipped the keys and lowered it , did you get any camber on front wheels?
I had to get it aligned, but it worked out perfectly.
Subd! I seen you a while back and i need all the info. Im swapping a 99 4x4 tahoe.
Glad to have you here! 🤘🤘🤘
Like how much I have to spend to lower my GMC Sierra
How are the cv axles supposed to be
Will this work for the 2 door Tahoe
Hey man, I just did this to my 1990 k1500, took it to do an aligment and the guy said something about notching the frame on the upper control arm mounts to fix camber, did you run into the same issue?
There are little knock out tabs that you may have to punch out to make it work. But it’s very common. Shouldn’t need any notching of anything.
So just flip the key huh 🤔 why the hell did I never think of this 😂🤣
How does it ride I got a ls swapped z71 I have been building if it dont sell soon it's getting some mods like weight reduction and slammed
Barefootrob2019 stoyles it honestly rides as good as any 25 year old 4wd can ride haha.

Diggin_Z71 ok thanks
did you have to replace the strut to a shorter one in the front?
Yes, you will have to get shorter shocks.
Did you remove the front bump stops, or ride on them?
PROJECTSTARTER S I did remove them. Forgot to mention that in the video
Clean truck man!!! Since you don’t have a notch do you hit the frame often?
Kevin James it is very close, but I have probably only hit the frame once or twice since I’ve been driving the truck lowered. I think it’d be a good idea, but I haven’t needed it.
Diggin_Z71 Oh not bad. I want to do the same thing to my 94, but it’s my daily and don’t want to hit the frame a lot.
Kevin James you could always lower it and see how it rides for you. If it’s good, you’re good. If it hits, grab a notch for it!
Diggin_Z71 I was also thinking about a 3/5 heard it’s a 6in flip kit with 1 in lift shackle, but I can’t find any that only lift 1inch. Do you know of any?
Kevin James there are some on eBay I believe. But, you could always do a shackle and hanger for about 4-5” in the back.
Did you do a c-notch in the frame?
I did not, although it is probably a good idea.
Does your 4x4 work fine? Im planning on lowering my 08 sierra but someone told me the 4x4 will stop working, Is that true?
Completely false. My 4wd works perfectly.
However told u that is an idiot lol
Where can I find the tie rod sleeves?
www.cunninghammachine.com/speed-shop/
With it being that low does the 4x4 still work
Yessir! I launch it in 4wd when I race it.
Did you pull out the shackles when you put i. The flip kit?
Yes, you have to pull either the front or rear of the leafs to make putting in the new rear end easier.
@@DigginZ71 oh I’m sorry. I should’ve been more clear. When you installed the flip kit, did you go back to factory shackles? Or did you keep the 2 in drops in?
I drilled new holes in the 2” shackles to get them back basically the same length as the factory shackles.
@@DigginZ71 ah okay. So just the flip kit with “stock” height shackles. Thanks bro! Truck looks good!
Dropped my k1500 and it feels pretty bouncy did you take out bump stops up front ?
Yes I did.
Does your frame hit with control arm bro or not?
No it doesn’t. There’s a lot of room after removing the bumps.

@@DigginZ71 thanks for replying. I believe I'm going to try it on my 2002 Tahoe soon
