3-eat for your microbes not taste buds
    4-protein is the hero macro

Dr . Mindy, I just ordered your book Eat like a Girl. The important thing I’m looking for is for post menopause women in 50s how to keep their adrenal and cortisol stress under control while fasting. We don’t have a cycle. I’m not insulin resistance. I’m achieved my weight goal. But my not sure it’s harmones cortisol or adrenal stress driving me crazy. My naturopath don’t want me to do intermittent fasting. She is right in a sense that when I go back to my eating style mean more carbs everything calms down and no more panic and shakiness. But I don’t want to go back to my old eating style as I’m off my BP and pantraprazole pills. I’m feeling healthy but not from hormones side. I’m all over the place can’t work, I’m always shaky. Any suggestion Dr Mindy ? Please more info on post menopause women.
    Thank You

You can do the 30 Day Reset as outlined in Dr Mindy's book, Fast like a Girl, using the 'New Moon' as your Day 1 (use search engine to find the day of new moon) or you can do a weekly variation like the 5-1-1 or the 4-2-1 Protocol.
The 5-1-1 is 5 Days of various fasting lengths, 1 Day of 24 hours fasting and 1 Day of NO fasting. In the 4-2-1 it is 4 Days of various fasting lengths, 2 Days of long fasts and 1 Day of 24 hour fasting.

Seed oils are highly processed and heavily treated with additives.
      The original seed is healthy.
Use real tallow from grass fed cows. Coconut oil, grass fed butter and ghee instead of seed oils.
Along with reputable ev olive oil

This is what I think is the issue:
It's like the difference between eating an apple and drinking a glass of apple juice; a better amount of sugar to fiber in the whole fruit as opposed to too much sugar and no fiber in the juice..
When eating the seed you get all the other good stuff and just a little bit of the omega 6 oil (inflammatory oil, when in too high amounts compared to omega 3 and 9). When consuming foods or cooking with seed oils you are getting too large a dose of omega 6.

I always thought my ancestors starved bc 1200 calories generally seemed the amount i needed each day. People keep saying you need more. It was true as a young person, and true now as a senior. I don't count specifically, but have a general idea of what that means for each meal after a year of calorie counting. I was vegetarian for most of my life and eat healthy foods. But now I am not. Recectly I was encouraged to add more protein and fats, which has made a big difference. I'm not suffering, even though I don't snack, took out most grains, sweets and sugar. No cravings and I rarely feel hungry. I gained 100 extra pounds after pregnancy. It's been hard to get rid of. I now walk 35+ miles per week. The diet changes make it easier. I'm more satiated, have more nutrition, and can do the work. The math of calories in and out works out perfectly. 35 miles means I lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. I did this before covid without diet changes, and now i need to do it again but i feel better, happier and stronger adding the protein and fat this time. My attitude toward calories is that technically calories = work. Better calories = better work. You need good food to do the work to lose pounds and maintain good health. But we are all different, and we all must find what works for our individual body and mind. Use calorie counting as a general reference, and also how you feel. Your body knows what food is beneficial or not, and will tell you.

    I need advise......
I had a complete hysterectomy 30+ years ago. I have been on low dose estrogen all these years.....
    Do I have a "cycle"??
How do I know when it is?
Do I need to eat/fast differently during that time??
I have been doing the IF for over a year now and have lost 80lbs. But, I cannot get rid of this "baby belly" that I have carried around for 40 years.
I am walking, exercising and just started using a rebounder. I am sticking with it but it can be discouraging 😞
Again, I am proud of me.... but, I want to be leaner

Hi what can I eat to keep in autophagy I’m trying to follow the 421 but finding it difficult to keep into20 g protein and 50 g carb
I’m 56 and want to improve my muscle and skin tone I’ve ordered the cook book so I’m hoping this we’ll help with food choices.
    Many thanks

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  27 дней назад

Protein stops autophagy, so if autophagy is your goal, then you would need to keep protein very low that day. If you are working on muscle building, then autophagy would not be a goal to go with that as muscle building requires a lot of protein. You would need a schedule so that you are able to do both at different times. 👍

At 75 and on a fixed income while I started following you in last few months I have lost 30 pounds but have found that going to your diets 100% is pretty costly. I will gradually wean out the food I have in my freezer that is more problematic but a lot of soy stuff and different seasonings and increased meats will take time to accumulate. Another thing I live alone most of your recipes feed four so I have to eat them for several days. Just saying.

How much you eat still matters. I got CGM 3 months ago. And at first I watched it like a hawk and got very excited when I was able to keep it within 80-120 range all day. I did loose about 3 pounds the first months. But then when I got "the hang of it" meaning how to keep it stable, I relaxed and started eating more (still keeping blood sugar low). Well, I still have the CGM and keeping the blood sugar "stable" meaning avoiding spikes, but I gained my 3 pounds back and I am not loosing weight. The point is - how much you eat still matters even when you are keeping your blood sugar from spiking.
