For all of you asking about menopausal woman 17:50 Who should not fast (eating disorders, pregnant and nursing women) 21:36 After the age of 40 do 5 things 36:10 Best ways to get hormone testing 45:15
Menopause and female health issues might be the most neglected areas in medicine. Please keep informing us more and more about these subjects. Thank you 🌿🙏🌸
I went into full menopause at 40 from fasting. Finished at 47 and couldn't be happier with the results. The other side of menopause is pretty great, I'm super healthy, OMAD 5 days a week and 1 48 hour fast once a month or so. I'm 50 and have never felt better 😊 Thanks for all of this great info and helping women navigate fasting as it's so different than it is for men!. I fasted through menopause and no hormone replacement as my mom got breast cancer from hers. With a healthy diet, supplements and fasting, I only really had issues with night sweats.
My best health was in my mind 50s because of better eating habits and with eliminating bad processed foods. This was well before I discovered healthy Keto. I love healthy keto veg's protein and healthy fats. ACV with lemon in my water. Keto on girls. Greens are our friend.
What do you mean by full menopause at 40 and finishing at 47? (I'm under the understanding that after 1 full year of no cycles you enter menopause.) Did you have 7 years of a perimenopause?
I hadn't had a period for 9 months at 39 so I was tested as they thought I may have had cancer. My doctor said I was fully in menopause as I hit my 40th birthday. I had 7 years of symptoms then they all just went away.
I believe my late mom’s heart disease was exacerbated by HRT so I had no intention on going on hormones when I reached that age. Turned out the medical establishment did a 180 by the time I was at that age. Ironically, I had no discernible menopausal symptoms. My period just started lessening until it was no more…I think by the time I was 50. I’m 64 now. After I was in menopause I felt so good that I stopped going to the gynecologist for about 6 years. Then I thought maybe I should go just get Pap smear etc and I told the Dr sorry but I was feeling so good I didn’t think to come. She laughed and said “you’re lucky”! Everything was fine. 😂
I would like more info on women after menopause. I am a healthy 70 year old woman who exercises - walking the hills, yoga and weights. Periods ceased at 60. Like Dr Hyman I am blessed with a body on the thinner side. I also do not want to loose muscle, which are thin to begin with… Thanks for all the valuable info. 🤗
Please address in another video of the topic of women who have had hysterectomies and what type of hormone replacement they should go on, and also women that have had previous breast cancer because it is not even available for us. No one will ever speak to us about it. Thank you. I’m looking forward to your comment about that.
I like to do a 72 hour fast 2 times a year. I wait until April instead of January. Too hard to come off a holiday binge to stop eating all of a sudden. Then again in November pre holiday. I am 62 years old. It’s definitely a hard thing to do. I have had great success. I plan to just relax and enjoy my day with as little stress as possible. I am lucky enough to have that option.
I’m coming into the menopause age. My wonderful Dr I had for many years retired. I went to a nurse practitioner. I read up on menopause a little before my appointment. She literally didn’t know much more than I did about menopause. Her focus seemed to be younger women of child baring age. I was quite disappointed. I never saw her again.
I only wish I had found you earlier, when I was first having symptoms of menopause, pre-diabetes, and hypertension. None of my doctors ever told me to try these methods that you mentioned. I’m so greatful to you! Thank you❤
Dr Mindy is right on! We DO need to collaborate with our doctor and work on hormone issues! Doctors dont help anymore they just tell you to take something and see you next year!!
I appreciate you Dr. Hyman, that you are willing to listen and learn new ways to fast and learning about women and how to learn to deal with women's issues.

I LOVE how Dr P described healing in community as initiating a cascade of beneficial hormonal relationships starting with Oxytocin. ❤Will follow Dr Pelz closely from here on. Thank you Dr P and Dr H!
wowww, this is what I call a life changing interview. My first time hearing about the necessary changes in diet/lifestyle based on the time of our cycle. Sharing with all my girlies. With much appreciation and gratitude.
I'm so glad you invited her on!!! Even following the high quality nutrition info on Dr's Farmacy, I had pretty noticeable hormonal acne. Timing my diet & fasts to my menstrual cycle, as recommended in her book, has led to a huge improvement in only 3 months 😊
Hormonal acne and PMDD has led me to Mindy. This information is so invaluable❤ My cycle (bleed) should start tomorrow so I am excited to track and see how this month goes for me compared to the last few months, the most recent being the absolute WORST.
The biggest thing for me is that I'm 51 with two young children. We got married late and our kids are 7 years and 10 years old. It's hard for me to slow down because I have a full time job, 2 kids with activities and a house and hubby...plus 2.5 hours of commuting every day. My husband works opposite shift than me so I'm with kids alone for activities nights and weekends. I believe my horrible menopause symptoms and weight gain are because of the amount of stress along with the hormone change that started with menopause 2 years ago at the same time my father became ill with brain seizures and was bed-bound in our home and then later his home that I helped care for until he passed. I'm SO thankful to hear that I can work and FIX my hormones and health and most importantly my strength by fasting!!! THANK GOD to you Dr. Mindy!!! You are CHANGING my life and I hopefully will be around to see my kids grown up and have children of their own! God bless you!
So happy that she mentioned bowel movements during fasting because I've been experiencing that. On a regular day it's once per day and during fasting it's twice per day. I'm so happy for that❤
How to reverse early menopause from over-fasting (adrenal fatigue, thyroid issues etc) Also what about - when fasting doesn’t work because stress causes muscle to break down and ketones don’t happen
Super Grateful for this much-needed discussion on Woman's Hormone Health!! Thank you both for sharing! Dr Mindy your wealth of knowledge on this is Incredible!! Thank you for being a Blessing💐💖
Love Dr. Mindy! I have learned so much and love your book ~ fast like a girl. As a peri menopausal woman I wish I would’ve know these principles earlier on.
It's great that women's hormones are NOW being considered as they should. However, what about we more senior dames in our 70's and 80's who need other considerations. Anything you can recommend?
I’m on my weekly 72 hour water fast. I went on vacation and decided 48 hour fast was good enough. Now I’m in the six day Omad or fast. So I’ll do water fast 72 hours. Then Omad. My struggle is the 10-11 days of no fasting. And loving self. I was thinking just eat when I’m hungry. I’m usually only hungry 11-4. Is this thinking in alignment with Fasting Like a Girl? I believe I’ve got this. Thank you for the book. I’ve shared you to many of my girlfriends. We all want to share it with our daughters.
The information provided in this video is a quantum leap for me! ❤ And a little bit I’m smirking inside, bc obviously there are differences between male and female. Thank God we don’t havd to feel guilty here for knowing this physical, medical and hormonal fact.
Dr M.Hyman, I really think you're ideas can help many people, but this woman knows what she's talking about! know one knows women better than women. I agree with everything she is saying. I myself have struggled ever since I was a child that hit puberty at 11 years old it wasn't until I went into menopause at 46 that I notice all the changes over the years kudos to your guest her ideas are point on!!! Thank you❤
I love Dr Mindy Pelz and her passion for Woman's health, hormones and fasting! She is changing Woman's perspective on taking control of their health and empowering us through education!!!! ❤
I asked my mom about menopause once & she said it lasts about 2 weeks. She's past on, but yes, women/moms didn't discuss hormonal stuff. I'm post menopause now & was afraid to discuss with my dr in fear of being put on HRT. I love that you both are talking about this. I just dealt with things on my own. I don't have alot of symptoms anymore, except couldn't lose weight. But I am now thanks to you dr mindy. Eating alot healthier, 1 day of 24 fasts & IF. Been watching your videos! ❤
I started my dedication to fasting with an 86 hour water fast. It gave me that immune system reboot and all the other benefits. I’ll do another long one on the December solstice
When did you start to feel the benefit? Were the first 48 hours tough, and you felt good after the resetting started? Were there side effects? Thanks. You really jumped in head first! I'm glad it worked for you. Basing your major fasting around the major Earth cycles sounds very smart.
@@Anna_Key the first 48 hours were easier than the second 48. I felt really good for the first 48 and pretty darned tired and weak on day 3 and 4. I had some diarrhea when I broke my fast. I followed Mindys suggestions for breaking my fast. It took me 24 hours to feel better. But after that I had tons of stamina for fasting regularly. Now I switch up times and take a few days to not fast too. I’m having tons of strength stamina and radiant health for all endeavors in my life now more than ever
OMG! This is gold! There is such a gap in medicine about hormones and women’s health. I would like to remind women here that there is such a thing as natural plant based (phytoestrogens) creams out there. And they work! They have none of the side effects of synthetic hormones. They have been a lifesaver for many women.
questions: 🎉MCT OIL OR olive oil added to coffee WILL HELP START TO ACCELERATE THE WEIGHT-LOSS PROCESS during a 36-72 fasting window? what about😅 **pure Chicory powder?** thanks for your work🎉!!
Wow, I did a 3-day fast while I was expecting my period and I never got it (she explains at 33 minutes)! She knows her stuff! Of course, I'm 51 and it _could_ just be perimenopause, _but_ it would be a very strange coincidence seeing as though all my periods have been perfectly regular until that very one.
Love the information in the fast like a girl interviews. Big question - How about fasting like a post menopausal woman? I cannot find anyone speaking about this. Are we not still viable?
I’ve started the intermittent fasting. Eating from 9am - 5 pm. About a week now. Big change for me. Trying to eat 3 meals in 8 hours is hard to do. I may skip dinner and just eat two meals. I started the 48 hour fast at 2pm for the weekend. I think I can make it to Sunday at 2 pm. Excited to try it. I need a restart. September is a good goal for 72 hour fast. Doc you asked my question 🙋♀️ I want to do a 36-72 hours but I loose weight very quickly and I am afraid I will loose to much muscle and it will be too hard to put it back without training very hard. Specially, I see my mother and she is 90lbs right now, she is only 5’1 but she is what we will called skinny fat. I have some metabolic issues and approaching the menopause stage early. I do want to reboot my immune system and repair but the weight loss will be a big down side for my body type.
Thank you for this podcast. Now I fully understand myself. Why I felt sad and anxious sometimes. It's all about hormones.Healthy lifestyle is a must.Fasting is essential to have a healthy body & soul.
So I am 73 years old and I’ve never taken any HRT and I am struggling with the fasting but I’m not giving up on it to get rid of my belly. My question is, is it necessary for me to take HRT or can I do this all with diet and fasting. I watched one video where it says you are actually taking HRT. Thank you.
She is the best and always enjoy her interviews from men, they truly don’t understand women’s hormones in menopause, maybe if they get educated they wouldn’t leave their wives during that time.
I wana tell both of you doctors that as Muslim women we all experience that during ramadan fasting something changes in our body. We all get early periods than usual days without fasting. And women are religiously not allowed to fast during periods.
I think this is such a great break through for the upcoming young woman, and I for one could have gained a tremendous amount or relief from this new research, however I'm post post menapause (mentalpause) lol. But, I am going to at least have my cortisol and blood sugar checked and do the constant glucose check, because of my hashimoto's thyroiditis and blood sugar above 100 for years. 👍👍👍
I'm confused by one thing (what you mention @ 36:45 about staying low carb at times to keep estrogen happy and high carb at times to keep progesterone happy. I believe when estrogen is high we are more insulin sensitive and can tolerate more carbs (especially around ovulation). When estrogen dips we become more insulin resistant so that would mean we need to stay away from carbs then. Are you saying this is not accurate?
Hi Dr Mindy... Just watched your video on 7 foods you have stopped eating. By conventional fruits, do you also mean packaged supermarket fruit?? Ie...strawberries, berries etc?? I'm fighting with not having Haribos anymore...as these are my favourite... I can go without for ages then times I have them too much. I've been practicing my fasting...wating for your book to arrive, Monday 26th August '24 Thank you..Lorraine,age 47, Rawtenstall, England xx
Hi Im 51 morbidly obese l am over the moon to have been recommended to your work. I have ordered your 2 books. Just waiting on them l did my first 36 hour fast and felt great but when l broke my fast with cellery juice I had the runs which I
Very curious about how this might play in for naturally thin, postmenopausal women (i just came off of HRT, after taking it for almost 10 yrs, and on my own accord, while my male Gyn questioned why I would 🙄) with GERD as not eating can have negative, enhanced effects on stomach acid production. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! 🙏🥰🙏
Used to love fermented foods but cannot eat ythem anymore re helth issue supplements? Doc Ps book menopause reset, would that still be useful for a 64 Yr old, in terms of how to have fasting as a lifestyle?
I’m that one who got full in to OMAD and several prolonged fasting 72h and beyond. I did lost and felt great until I didn’t 😅I then gained 40lbs and feel I lost my control of my bod. I need to mix it up…🙏 Thank you for this video!!
There are polymorphisms that can make fasting one of the most unpleasant experiences of your life. Many of my liver pathway II enzymes have reduced or no function and if you fast your system just gets overwhelmed with toxins after a couple of days. That's something worth knowing. I wish someone had told me that before my medically assisted fast. It took me many, many weeks to recover from the effects of fasting
The reason why we have these wonderful hormones is so that we can create life. Unfortunately we live lifestyles that doesn’t support our hormonal journey.
I was doing great with this until I started listening to another keto expert. I have yet to get bk into my happy zone I'll call it. I was doing great for over two years or better. Then I changed up my food intact which in my opinion triggered picking in-between meals. It's been said, " if it ain't broke don't change it". Something like that. I was so happy with myself now again I feel out of control. It's not my weight so much but my in and out of keto. Sibo again cramps headaches ect. And weight sometimes. I am 62 female and struggling with food. I have not gone over 120 since I've been on healthy keto it's now just consistency.
Does this all still work if we also drink zero carb alcohol, for self med instead of even worse toxic doc pills for anxiety type probs, ie ptsd, inside the eating window? And if so, i kno it is bad for out digestive system to eat and drink alcohol at same time..sorry ask but wot do u suggest for these folk🌻
She said menopausal women should do the 5/1/1: 5 days intermittent fasting (16 or 17 hours fast) 1 day longer fast (24 or 36 hours) 1 day feasting (no fast at all) And repeat every week
I never get tired of interviews with Dr. Mindy. Her message is SO important, and I wish this was taught in health class.

She is the best and always enjoy her interviews from men, they truly don’t understand women’s hormones in menopause, maybe if they get educated they wouldn’t leave their wives during that time.
Oohhh I’ve been waiting for this interview!! 🎉 can’t wait to listen to it tomorrow
What a great combination!!! 2 of my fav docs!!!!!!!
I wana tell both of you doctors that as Muslim women we all experience that during ramadan fasting something changes in our body. We all get early periods than usual days without fasting. And women are religiously not allowed to fast during periods.
I’m 71 years vibrant and I’d like to know more about fasting for my age group.
Me to!
👍👍👍
Thank you all so much recognizing these hormones and how important and the glands that produce these as well.
Such great information! Thank you so much - and Dr. Mindy, you look absolutely gorgeous.
Grage info. I wish I had this knowledge when I was younger(I am 80)
Kia ora Mindy could olive oil be used in coffee?
Hi Dr Mindy...

Is this just my body detoxing
Very curious about how this might play in for naturally thin, postmenopausal women (i just came off of HRT, after taking it for almost 10 yrs, and on my own accord, while my male Gyn questioned why I would 🙄) with GERD as not eating can have negative, enhanced effects on stomach acid production. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! 🙏🥰🙏
Can we do the Fast Like a Girl fasting with hormone replacement therapy? I’ve been on estrogen and progesterone for 3 months…can I do both?
Used to love fermented foods but cannot eat ythem anymore re helth issue supplements?

I’m that one who got full in to OMAD and several prolonged fasting 72h and beyond. I did lost and felt great until I didn’t 😅I then gained 40lbs and feel I lost my control of my bod. I need to mix it up…🙏 Thank you for this video!!
Same I was doing keto for 8uears and I did one meal a day and then even tried eating every other day I can not lose any weight no matter what I do
Is there any restrictions when you have diagnos Hypotyreos?
There are polymorphisms that can make fasting one of the most unpleasant experiences of your life. Many of my liver pathway II enzymes have reduced or no function and if you fast your system just gets overwhelmed with toxins after a couple of days. That's something worth knowing. I wish someone had told me that before my medically assisted fast. It took me many, many weeks to recover from the effects of fasting
SHE IS THE BEST, I READ THE BOOK FAST LIKE A GIRL, VERY INTERESTING
I’m been in hrt for 40 years with no problems after hysterectomy. How does that affect fasting? Do I still need to do 511?
What about if you are post menopausal women?
What should our diet be ?
High carbohydrates then low carbohydrates.??
Higher protein and 1 week a month eat healthy carbs
Interesting topic how can I get a copy of her book love to learn more about the 6 ways of intermit fasting
Can I get info on the liver metabolic cleanse kit?
And the Dutch test
Great information!
Ok is organic crusted garlic if u wait 10 plus minutes a plus and B1 vitamins an ok thing to have during a fast? Thoughts please.
What about I’d you had an IUD put in 11years ago and no longer have periods? How long should I fast for healing to take place?
How can I track my cycle after a uterine ablation? I never know when my cycle is on since I don't bleed or have symptoms
What about people who are hit the menopause? Are they need to track same fasting as they don’t see periods can you talk about them too.
She said menopausal women should do the 5/1/1:
5 days intermittent fasting (16 or 17 hours fast)
1 day longer fast (24 or 36 hours)
1 day feasting (no fast at all)
And repeat every week
