It is sad but I am thinking the Philippine will just become a Chinese province before it is over. Chinese corporations can now be 100% Chinese owned. Be it flexible currency or the standard dept trap via infrastructure projects like what we have seen in Africa and parts of Asia, the CCP will end up running the PI. Their oil is not available in the market openly because of sanctions.
Oil prices are so high because Venezuela is basically out of commission they're operating like a 5 to 10% of their capacity. If Venezuela was at full power and oil production the price of oil would collapse because they could simply out produce everybody.

Chavez decided to join the ranks of socialist countries at the time most socialist countries had already giving up on the ideal. The ideology has proven unworkable wherever it was tried.
But his country isn't socialist. Socialism doesn't work like this. You don't have a dictator in a socialist government.
@@machsimillian14
Whaaaaat?
@@nwachinemere7759 socialism implies that the means of production are controlled by the people. In this case, if the government is intended to be representative of the will of the people, the elections need to be fair...Venezuela hasn't had fair elections in ages. A dictator doesn't represent the will of the people, it's an oxymoron to say that you have a socialist dictator. Also a socialist government provides the basic needs of the people, they don't do that here and there is a huge chasm between the rich and the poor, of which 95% fall into the latter category. If it were truly socialist, the separation would be far smaller, that's not the case. Venezuela is more communist right now than anything else, democracy doesn't exist here.
@@machsimillian14 That means socialism isn't real, it's just an idea that can only be a form of government that exist only in theory. Socialism therefore is an illusion. @@shauncameron8390 make it make sense. I said that it wasn't socialism, and then you accuse me of being a socialist? Haha.
When Chavez was in power, the economy and government was more socialist, as the leaders were mostly elected by the people. Chavez took power illegitimately initially but held an election subsequently that can mostly be seen as legitimate. Venezuela was providing for its society when necessary and the chasm between the socioeconomic classes wasn't nearly as large. Poverty had been reduced by extreme metrics. The economy was more than sufficient. Unfortunately they weren't diversified, so when oil plummeted, their dollar plummeted, and the downward spiral just never stopped. That coupled with sanctions by the US, and Venezuela just hasn't been able to right the ship. The government has been going further and further authoritarian since Maduro has taken control, and its ostensibly a dictatorship. You cannot have socialist dictators, that takes the power from the people to be able to decide how the government/economy functions. The people having ownership in these decisions either directly or through representatives is the basis of socialism. Venezuela isn't socialist.
@@machsimillian14
Only by Chavez throwing money at the problem while decimating whatever diversified economy it had upon making Venezuela oil-dependent.

Here you see what state-socialism can do to a country. I simply don´t believe that e.g. the US-embargos etc. have very much to do with this downfall. We are talking about a country with some of the biggest known reserves of oil in the world. We are talking about a country that has the basis for growing all crops possible and they probably could be self-sufficient in terms of feeding all their own people in the country. However, we still we see how they - under Chavez - had to import a lot of food etc. - because the government wanted to control all the infrastructure around food production, -distribution etc. and they were too incompetent to do that efficiently. Add to the socilism a massive level of corruption and a crime level that is sky high - and the way to disaster is paved.
