- Aug.20 - Venezuela is in default; the country has suffered one of the greatest economic and humanitarian crises in modern history. Now, after four years of crippling U.S. sanctions, President Nicolas Maduro is making a public plea aimed directly at President Joe Biden- it's time for a deal. Bloomberg's Erik Schatzker travels inside Venezuela and sits down with Maduro to discuss the country's future.
Hoping & praying for the best in Venezuela!
no. all it takes is maduro resigning, but he isn't going to. the sanctions will screw up that country until he is gone. There is no other way to return to normalcy other than maduro resigning

You don't need America to sell oil nowadays. Saudi Arabia recently signed a deal with Russia. The truth is, Venezuela's oil production has dropped down due to a lack of investment back into maintaining the infrastructure.
If Saudi Arabia and Venezuela stops using the Petrodollar to trade oil, America is going to "fight for democracy" in their countries

You should listen to Harari of the WEF, World Economic Forum, they control the world by sanctions. It is their mission to reduce the global population, and they are starting with Latin America. There will be no recovery, move to another country now if you can. They consider uneducated, unskilled people beyond a robot/AI to be irrelevant and contributing to global waste. @@JovenAlbarida that man holding an entire country hostage is Maduro!!
Venezuela has been completely wrecked since 2013 at least, and that happened because the Venezuelan government has simply embezzled and stolen everything they could for decades! They have racked up insane amounts of bad debt for nothing, have crushed the already small private sector to non-existence, and have mismanaged the oil sector so much that the moment the oil price fell below 100$ per barrel the whole economy CRASHED!!!
This whole thing has literally NOTHING to do with America, as it’s literally ALL due to the Venezuelan government.
socialism
@@JovenAlbarida that's a very foolish statement to say. If this is true, I'd hate to live in your closed off world while you point your finger at others.
@@JovenAlbarida hahahahaha 💩
If Venezuela has oil reserves to rival the US and the mid East oil cartels makes sense they wouldn’t want Venezuelan oil on the market especially now when it’s approaching 90 a barrel. I think the west and it’s allies are definitely interfering in Venezuela no doubt about it. But the amount of incompetence in the Maduro is mind boggling. The only way Venezuela could ever recover is to be able to extract and sell its resources period.
Errr no.. ‘the west’ wants LOW oil prices, not high.
Since practically all forms of economic activity are dependent on oil, one way or another (just everything needs to be transported for example) , higher oil prices = higher cost, which is bad for business, and this hurts western countries. Just look at how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has sent oil and natural gas prices soaring, which has then sent inflation through the roof in most parts of the world and starting to cause minor financial hardship to many as the cost of everyday items is increases while their wages are not.
The west does not make money from extracting oil, it is a net consumer of oil, by far.
The only countries that want high oil prices are those oil producing nations with undeveloped economies, where oil extraction makes up most of their income, such as Venezuela, Iraq, Iran, Russia, Nigeria, Angola
I think the U.S is just waiting for Venezuela to weaken, to the point of completely falling to it’s knees so they can take complete control over it’s economy. I mean with all that oil….
No, that's actually the main problem. The venezuelan economy is in shambles 'cause they depend entirely on their oil exports. Having a huge ammount of unproductive spending, an even bigger corrupt state and even worse, the highly skilled and the people with money have already left and made their life elsewhere, if they started rebuilding their state today, it'd probably take 50yrs or 2 gen to actually get somewhere.

Venezuela was never rich. Less than 10% of the population had money. The other 90% lived in utter poverty. The poor got sick of it and had a revolution. The 10% took their money and ran.
That is the same thing that happened in the US during the great depression. Can you blame them?

It's a complex problem, for sure. Corruption inside and outside Venezuela. One thing is for certain, Venezuela was outspending its income BEFORE sanctions, and had little to no austerity AFTER the sanctions. What would happen to the US if China stopped selling to them? It would really, really hurt, but hopefully (yeah, I'm a dreamer), the US would reign in government spending to compensate. In the end, if you live beyond your means, you will ruin yourself. This is true for individuals and nations. Sanctions hurt, but they would have hurt less if Venezuela's government had reigned in its spending.
It's only US sanctions , not the whole world. South Africa had sanctions from most of the world plus a civil war and , while their economy suffered , it didn't collapse.

the US has a complex economy that produces both necessities and commodities. The Venezuelan economy has, since the 80s relied on oil, which it exchanges for food/goods. This reliance on oil makes the venezuelan economy closer to Sudi arbia's or the UAE's than the US.

You can’t blame bad management when there is nothing left to manage. American sanctions are the root cause of the starving people and lack of medical supplies for Venezuelans. @@emendoz1 He was mocking your pro-capitalist stance. I'm going to assume you are a conservative since most Cuban Americans are. Your comment also doesn't make sense, it's almost cryptic. Fight how? With sticks and stones? Ironically, you ended up leaving Cuba. So much for that.
@@HC-wo2tz I left Cuba at a very young age so fighting was not an option. That’s not the case today.
To listen from Forbes that the US Sanctions are responsible for the economic meltdown of my country is really upsetting. The dictatorship is responsible for the destruction of the economy, the US Sanctions only exacerbated the problem, but the oil industry was already degenerating since 20 years ago...
You are a fool. The US sanctioned your country because they are keeping your country's wealth thats all. You dont understand international affairs much
Viva VENEZUELA , Best !
If you are starving talk to your prime minister or President. If a man can't run his own home. How can he run a country? It's your own fault. Don't blame other countries for your mistakes. I am so sorry for the people.
Not to justify Maduro--he is a dictator. However, that is irrelevant to American foreign policy. Being a brutal dictator doesn't matter as long as he is "Our" dictator... Marcos, Noriega, Saddam Huessin (until he wasn''t--lol), Shah of Iran, ad nauseam............
Dictator bad guy is only when is your enemy. When he is your friend is called a good leader.
After WW2 Americans also said They may be Nazis, but they are our Nazis
@@_Wai_Wai_ There seems to be a few that still say that--lol
You meant Naseem,,how about Augusto Pinochet?
@@bjacko5019 Naseem? Did I miss something? Yeah, Pinochet was to be included in the "ad nauseam" along with all the all the other South American corporate lackeys.
As a Venezuelan I tell you: this is the result of socialism. Misery and suffering like you would ever imagine 💔
Ok, US Department of the Treasury...
no it isnt lmao, Venezuela has been havign economic problems since the 80s, our problems are not the "socialists" or the "capitalists", our problem is reliance on oil and corruption.
Zionist propaganda here.
If you were actually Venezuelan, you'd know the roots of the problems have existed for decades. It's not "Socialism killed Venezuela lolz 😝". It's much more than that
I know
Chavez pampered the people with lots of freebees but deep inside him, he says, "After me, the deluge."
Hope
No hope no change..get Maduro out,by any means necessary
You're looking for a job?
@Incomeking Do you know something?
What will happen if China was to bail out Venezuela? Or even Russia?
China and Russia bailed them, they basically own Venezuela, the gov. payed them with land and cheap resources.
I recognize what you are doing and appreciate you helping to teach, whether it's what you intended or not :)
There can be no future for my poor country so long as the dictator remains in power. Chávez's legacy is nothing but ruin.
Sorry bro hear that friends
We are not poor at all, never were, we were Just Robbed of our Gold and Natural wealth.
@@rudrarishi2523 That’s VZ’s problem. VZ was never rich because it depended on oil for everything.
