Indigo Traveller if someone is wanting to explore Venezuela, what’s the best advice do you have? And how much money do you think they should take with them?
It was so nice to hear from you that the people in Venezuela is friendly, kind, funny... this is the memory I keep in my heart when I think about my country. We need to get it back. Big hug.
To you indigo traveler. Another imperialist Yankee invader in Venezuela. I've been to venezuela 4 times. Why don't you go and make reports about LA, Chicago, NY and other crime infested cities in the USA?!! I don't know why or how they allow Yankee like you who go to criticize Venezuela. And for the immigration thing, of course they have to ask what your doing there like if the USA immigration don't. Criticizing the pay of venezuela now I know why Fidel Castro never allowed Yankees into Cuba.
I am from Venezuela, and believe it or not I remember we used to send food and medicines to Africa from my school... now it just breaks my heart to see so much suffering, and I realize that now I am in the other side of the story... I just hope this will never happen to you, whatever your country is
@Berg Djelderian good old days? I wouldn't call them that, I think you people believe we wanted this. the truth is that only ignorant people did and now we are paying the costs
20:16 they are speaking English at the subway, I'm from Caracas and doing that is really dangerous, because gangsters will know that you are a tourist and will try to steal something form you (they mostly want dollars) or kidnap you. They had guts, I will never do such a thing
Chacao safe?
I am from Haiti, left since I was nine, and never visited again. My grandma is from Venezuela. She was 106 when she passed. Great People! I hope things change for the better one day. I am here in America and still complaining about the food I eat and that much for a hot dog. God Help!! I love you my fellow Venezuelans♥
It was like this in Yugoslavia in '90s. You take your salary from the bank and run fast to the store to buy ONE egg until it becomes expensive again. So we know how this is. Hope everything is gonna solve. Big love from Serbia.
Wasn't Communism LOVELY. Your "country" which exploded in the 90's was subjected to almost 50 years of BRUTAL Communist RULE by TITO. Don't you pity them. I Have Several friends from East bloc countries and they would NEVER want to go back to the HORRID days of COMMUNIST RULE. WOULD YOU? YET today western scholars try to make SOCIALISM (AKA COMMUNISM) sound like a political alternative knowing full well of it's HISTORY!!! 100 million MURDERED!!
I visited Belgrade in April. You have a nice country now. I'm sure I'll return some day. And the ruins of that destroyed military building are very impressing and make you think differently about wars.
@@honour123 You mix a lot of words that are not related to each other. It's as if you take Venezuela as THE example for capitalism. If you always argue like this then everything on earth is shit.
I wouldn't say this is ''real'' journalism, do you know what ''real journalism'' is? I can only see one side of the conflict in the capital of a city, how is that ''real'' journalism? It's some kind of vlog showing around the streets so it could be informative in a way, but journalism? Hell no.
It's not exactly journalism, if you just visit some regions of the capital. It's part of a journalistic review, but with journalism you lay down arguments, financials, and reasons why. You bring experts to talk from both sides, etc. But it's a good video nevertheless, neutral
It will get better, when someone enter there and put down all the commie animals. Well 4 yeas and USA will not have more money to play world police, so bet will be on and someone probably will invade venezuela.

Sis crisis is everywhere in Venezuela, it’s not that Caracas is not living the crisis, it’s just that the crisis deepens the farther you get from the capital city, where they try to make it look like it works but not even there it does
@@paoferrer9059 It's not only the heat though, the situation here is even worse than any other state at the moment, no electricity, no water, no gas, nothing.
True, God bless these people. If only their economy wasn't dependent on the high price of Oil. ( More than half of the economy depended on oil exports. When the price dropped, everything went down hill fast.)
Lukas Antwerp 'mainstream media' actually has people all over the world reporting and doing investigative stuff, what they do with all that research I have no idea since we dont see anything besides entertainment and political gossip b.s.
Mainstream media is broke. They can’t afford to send anyone anywhere to report bc no one wants to watch it. They rather watch talking heads blabber on about trump
It's unbearable situation going three days without eating. Not eating because you are fasting but an induced fasting by the economic hardships. People of Venezuela we have you at heart and in our prayers. Love from Zimbabwe. A country that experienced the highest hyperinflation and currently holding the record, we are now playing to the tune of poverty.
I'm from Zimbabwe and I am amazed at the similarity between the two countries. What I find surprising is that they somehow keep going, despite all the odds against them. I used to queue for between 4 and 8 hours for fuel, and, unless you are very rich, anything but staple food is too expensive to buy. It's so sad that both countries were thriving. I can't understand why anyone would want to live under a socialist regime.
Zimbabwe, when it was Rhodesia, was known as the bread basket of Africa and it exported food all over the continent and beyond. The capitalist profit motive made productivity supreme. But Mugabe, by force, took it all over and ruined it, his policies of handing everything over to his inept henchmen ruined the infrastructure and the rule of law. As someone else here stated, "Let that sink in." No wonder South and Central America has been pouring over the borders to the USA seeking a better life, but can't create one in their own, native lands, because the moral turpitude existing between the ears of your leaders has the drip down power to make them think they are immortal and the Heaven upon earth they believe they are experiencing will suddenly expose them to what the rich man in the Biblical story of him and Lazarus will eternally be their fate. Pray the Rosary for the world, because the spiritual warfare has been forgotten, and the subjugation of the poor will seal their fate at Judgment.

@Walker pretty safe. The people there are not violent and are generally very well educated so apart from theft, violence is usually carried out by the army and police.
@MrCowboyJesus to date, no country or no leader has done it properly. The net result of socialism is poverty and the systematic murder by the government of dissenters. The only successful system approaching socialism is that of the kibbutz in Israel.
Thanks for this perspective. I live in Peru, and Venezuelans are everywhere. It's hard to get a straight story about what the hell is happening over there.
Yes until the socialist oppressive and suppressive regime took power !Chavez / Maduro , U.S sanctions PDVSA oil companies that benifiet Maduro China and Russia lend over 100 billions of dollars to keep that regime running now raping them by taking oil from PDVSA ! Ironic
Technically they are a rich country. At least the ruling class. I’m sure the President has plenty of money along with his staff and cabinet. Think they miss any meals?
@Peg Leg True. It does not matter how rich a country is to start off with. Also, how much concern did Lenin or Stalin care about the "workers" after they took power? About the same concern feminists care about women after they have used them to take power.
If you goto the the "business heart" of Caracas you'll see empty shell office blocks. Loads of them, as big as skyscrapers....all empty. The worlds biggest banks were ready to invest billions in there......then came Chavez and business went very cold when he started giving away state owned assets and spending an eye watering 13 billion dollars on his election campaign buying houses and villages for people so they would vote for him.
@@Clem_Fandango11 Chavez probably did Venezuela a favour. How delusional you must be to actually believe that putting a bunch of elitist bankers in charge of your economy is a good thing; especially in VZ's case when these would be the offices of foreign corporations. It really shows just how delusional Americans are when they cannot comprehend how countries can actually exist without Americans running their economies. The obvious reality is that if the USA actually minded its own business and stuck to managing its own economy, it would quickly collapse.
I’m from Venezuela, very sad situation in such beautiful country. Thanks for sharing. However, please be safe and don’t even think going out alone at night.
Hi Robert ! My name is Vincent. I would like to talk to you about something. I am talking to a beautiful lady from Venezuela and I really like her very much. We are getting to know each other through the internet and we met on a latin dating site called Amolatina.com. This site is very expensive but I don't mind spending the money because she is a very nice personally and physically. She really likes me and I really like her a lot. I would like to know, in your opinion, would it be safe to go over to visit her in Caracas. I am 65 years old and she is 46 years old. From what I can see about her and what she says, she is on the level. Can you let me know what you think about this Robert? I would really appreciate if you could let me know. Thank you so much, Vincent Crimona Bye for now my friend.

It's too bad, it's a beautiful country and it's going to pot with all the trouble going on there with the politicians and until things are straightened out, I don't think it is worth it. You are definitely right about all of this! Thank you, Vincent Crimona
I remember when I was a child growing up in Trinidad and Tobago and my parents always travelling to Caracas because it was the best place to go to for restaurants and the best styles of clothing.
Krissyjagger I grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and I remember as a child my mom taking us to Venezuela by boat on the weekends to go to the beach. It was beautiful. So sad how the country is now.
Uhm, excuse me. You have to be very rich to become a hotdog vendor. Imagine the cost of bundles of buns and hotdogs. Also the stand, propane and etc. Are you OKAY or what?
Venezuela!! I would not have guessed this location. I’m so excited for this series, to see a bit of what’s happening for Venezuelan people. Thank you for going! 🙏🏼🌟
I moved to Florida 2 years ago and seeing my city again made me very happy, but it also saddens me to see how everything has changed. Thank you for visiting my country and showing me what it is like today🙌🏻
yeah, but I you compare Chacao with other parts of Caracas such as Sabana Grande or La Hoyada, Chacao is safer (or at least that's how I see it, maybe the was thinking the same way as me..)

El Callejón La Puñalada (Stabbing Alley) IS STILL VERY DANGEROUS... OMG! Those guys are really lucky nothing happened to them. This video is stressful for me. I'll be having a heart attack on the Petare vid.
I just came back from a 2-week trip to Venezuela to meet the family of my fiancée (I am Belgian, she is Venezuelan). Before going there I researched a bit on the safety of the country (as I heard many stories from my fiancée about robberies, murders, kidnappings, etc...). However, in 2019, she went back for Christmas and saw a completely different Venezuela. People were walking out in the street with the newest iPhones, out in their hand, there was food available in the stores, etc... The thing that made me skeptical about this 'change', is that it almost isn't reported in any form of media. Your channel provided me with an UNBIASED form of information on the country, which was more or less aligned with the story my fiancée told me and it helped me a lot to calm my nerves before my trip. Thanks for that and I love your other videos as well, specifically for that! Now, I would like to confirm that Venezuela is doing much better than a few years ago. Yes, there still are problems and I would not recommend visiting the country without a local guide or friend that can take you around (mostly because of gasoline problems and to identify where you should an shouldn't go). But, my short but intense experience when visiting this country was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who has access to a local that is willing to show them around. It is an amazing country with super friendly people, delicious food and amazing nature! In these 2 weeks, I have never felt unsafe as a tourist. I was able to walk the streets, go out, enjoy local foods, even attend a softball games in a barrio without any problems. I love the country and I'm definitely going back there (I want to visit La Gran Sabana)! Hopefully the political situation becomes more stable in the future, so the country can unlock it's immense potential. Mucha suerte!

About the subway: a single ride was very cheap, and since it was a fixed price, inflation made it cheaper every day. But after the last reconversion (5 zeroes out), the price of a subway ticket was ridiculously low, so much the lowest denomination coin was about 10 times the price of a single ride. And so the metro became free
You see, everything looks perfect in Caracas, it just looks like a somewhat poor city. If he went to other states this video would only portray him bawling his eyes out 😕
Chaos? Is more than that. Im Venezuelan (From the Zulia state) and here the things are different than Caracas. We doesnt have Electricity, Water, Food (very expensive), Diesel or gasoil, transport, and such more things.
I love how human your adventures and stories are. It's a shame to see these people going through hardship, but your way of humanizing the situation and showing the decency in others is incredibly important.
They shouldnt be going through this " hardship " ..They are in a country full of OIL reserves . More than Saudi Arabia!! ..The socialist government have ruined this beautiful country .
U.S. sanctions have cost the Venezuelan economy BILLIONS of dollars. Here's what the U.N. Rapporteur Alfred De Zayas says: Excerpt: ... If you know a humanitarian crisis in Gaza and in Yemen and in Syria and in Sudan and in Somalia you wouldn't say there is humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and at no point when I was walking the streets in Venezuela did I feel threatened or did I see violence or did I consider that this country was undergoing a humanitarian crisis The solution of the problem is much easier than the band-aid of sending some packages of food or of Medicine, the solution is in my report. What I told the Human Rights Council is that the financial blockade has had extremely adverse Human Rights impacts. Obviously the origin of the current economic crisis is in the fall, that dramatic fall in the price of oil, but normally you will be able to fix that: a country as wealthy as Venezuela should have been able to borrow money on its enormous natural resources and then would have been able to buy and sell like anybody else, but no, the United States has made sure that because of the threat of enormous penalties [from] the US Treasury, the banks have been closing the accounts of the Venezuelan government and of the petróleos of Venezuela. Already in July 2017 Citibank unexpectedly decided without prior notice, and arbitrarily, to close the bank accounts of the Central Bank of Venezuela and the Bank of Venezuela; In November 2017, again Citibank blocked the transfer for a shipment of more than three hundred thousand doses of insulin; in November 2017 the company Euroclear retain $1.65 billion that the Venezuelan government had paid for the purpose for the purchase of food and medicine; Citgo the Venezuelan state oil company based in the US has not been able to transfer its profits outside the United States of America - it needs that money to buy food and medicine and it is in the neighborhood I think by now of $9-10 billion dollars that have been withheld; again Wells Fargo Bank withheld and cancelled payment of $7.5 million made by Brazil to Venezuela for the sale of electricity; in May 2018 the Venezuelan Minister of people's power informed that a financial transaction amounting to seven million dollars for the purchase of dialysis supplies for patients including children and adolescents requiring such treatment had been blocked; So you see here the immorality of it, but not only the immorality of it. There is personal criminal liability for the impact of these sanctions. I mean I am certain that the increase in child mortality, the increase in maternal mortality, the increased deaths for lack of insulin or lack of antiretroviral drugs is a direct result of this blockage, so that Venezuela has not been able to purchase what its people deserve. It's not like the government doesn't want to distribute, it's that the government is being through an external economic war, is being asphyxiated, and that was the name of the game, what the United States intended to do was to create a situation whereby the people or the military would topple the government and then the 1% could again come in and could again control the wealth of Venezuela. Venezuela had succeeded in bringing millions and millions of Venezuelans out of extreme poverty. Nobody cared in the 1980s and 90s that there were millions of Venezuelans dying of hunger and malnutrition. No one cared. It was a government that was palatable to Washington and a government that was a right-wing government. The moment that a left-wing government came in power, priority number one in Washington was to topple it. ... I would also like to see the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court investigate to what extent the deaths [that have] already occurred in connection with the sanctions amount to a violation of article 7 of the statute of Rome article 7 defines crimes against humanity ... See "An Ocean of Lies on Venezuela: Abby Martin & UN Rapporteur Expose Coup" To think any US government, let alone the obscenely corrupt far-right criminals currently in charge, gives a shit about anyone but the tiny minority of oligarchs at the top, is insane. If they were serious about helping people, they would not only lift the murderous sanctions on Venezuela, Iran, and Syria, but they would immediately stop arming and assisting Saudi Arabia in creating the world's worst humanitarian crisis being perpetrated in Yemen (according to the U.N.), where tens of thousands have been slaughtered, and millions are in extreme poverty. They would also take care of the millions in their own country who are living in poverty, many of whom are also homeless. To highlight just how little the U.S. cares, for almost two decades they have done their utmost to deny the 9/11 rescue workers the healthcare needed to deal with their chronic diseases aquired on that day. See the recent videos by Kyle Kulinski (Secular Talk) or David Doel (The Rational National) on Jon Stewart addressing Congress about the 9/11 fund.
@Darlene Sjostrom you are classic moron. hugo chavez and now Maduro destroyed all private businesses. All venezuelans lived on free doles from oil and elites siphoned off billions while no one cared or looked. @@davelawson2564 All countries, as far as I'm aware, run some form of a capitalist system, varying only with respect to the amount of state intervention in the economy. That is , there is no country where the workers control the means of production to any significant degree. Anyway, if you want to play this stupid game, I'll point to the countries of Scandinavia, which have relatively high amounts of state intervention in the economy (like Venezuela), and which by most measures rank at the top of human and societal well being, as examples of "socialism", and I'll point to the countless impoverished US-backed dictatorships and quasi-democracies throughout the world as examples of capitalism. Is Maduro corrupt? Probably, but so are most leaders of nations to varying degrees. Is he as corrupt as Trump and his administration, who knows. Should Maduro and Chavez have tried to diversify the economy more? Of course, although it can't be easy to run a developing country with the boot of the world superpower firmly on your neck, doing all it can to sabotage your efforts. The fact that you say Bernie Sanders, via your link, wants to turn the US into Venezuela shows you are either ignorant or lying. Bernie repeatedly points to a European or Scandinavian style system of social democracy as an example of what he intends to do, not Venezuela, and it aligns with his policies.

Venezuela was the most prosperous nation in South America under economic freedom (i.e. capitalism). Once a country goes full socialist retard, this kind of economic collapse is inevitable. Only the socialist dictator and his family and friends are rich in that country now. The quick recovery you referred to actually would happen if you got rid of the leftist government and freed up the economy, as Trump has done in the USA to save us from the economically disastrous stupidity of Comrade Obama.

This is all you get with it anywhere around the world every time it's attempted. Once or twice is a coincidence or bad luck, constantly should tell you something.
@Pingu Wetone First of all, if a country is fully dependable on another it's a joke. Sure you might not strive in full isolation, but you should be able to cope and sustain a basic life quality for the population with a few trade allies and your own resources. Could you specify which sanctions in particular you're talking about? I know of a few but I don’t see which ones you mean. And could you explain under which law they are illegal? On my flight back from Ecuador I met a businessman that was kidnapped here for 5 days. He's been traveling back and fourth for 30 years in central/south America. He said because he's so comfortable he didn't factor in the current climate. Anyways he was walking back to his hotel and 5 people jumped him and threw him in a van like a movie. He was a 6 foot about 220 guy too. They kept saying they were going to kidnap his family whiched confused him because his family was no where near them. With the different arguments and things pieced together this guy thought that it was a possible mistake and identity situation. So what they did was drove around and used his debit/credit card for 5 days. That was normal looking on the guys behalf bc he travels so much. Anyways on the 5th day due to his Wife calling the card company, cops, and.everybody else the card was cancelled and they kicked the shit out of him and dumped him 45 minutes outside of Carcass. The funny thing was that he told me he was relatively relaxed because they kept this oversized bandanna over his eyes so he figured he'd live.

Can you clarify what's the deal with the average salary? I think it's a little bit more complex than what he laid out. The way he put it (maybe because of the video editing) just doesn't make sense. I had one Venezuelan friend give me the rundown once, it involved official/unofficial exchange rates, black markets, etc. but I forgot the details lol.
@@ShaferHart The most simple way to put it is: Black market dominates venezuelan economy. Thus, you gotta take the official "integral salary" (cash+coupons) and do some basic math with the black market rate. You can find them at Dolatrue's twitter or MonitorDolarVe's IG. That way, you will always have a way to more or less calculate how much is the current Venezuelan salary. By the way, right now most private companies are not paying min salary but actually a lot more (relatively speaking). Considering's today's $ price, I'd say it's around $20-25 a month.
@@ShaferHart Using black market rates, of course. And that's a big thing, actually. In real earnings, some people (not everyone by a long shot) may be getting those $20-25; however, not only it's not enough but also the fact that we are suffering a de facto dolarization of our economy, even the Dollar's acquisitive power is suffering. In simple terms, what you could buy for $25 here, costs around half if you go to Colombia. And that's what people (including me) are doing. For instance, I went and bought $200 worth of stuff there a few weeks ago that could have costed me over $400 here in my city. So in real terms, those who earn $7 a month are getting even less than that.
@@0xXMagnusXx0 that's fucked up. How do you get around customs bringing all that stuff in? Is it allowed or you have to "hack" your way in and out? How do you get around crime? I'm guessing criminals monitor the border...

Unlike in the U.S., the people of Venezuela already know from which leg limps the CIA and the local vendepatrias from the country clubs, so this gent's video is just his experience and his opinions; the only thing that matters is that Venezuela is in hands of the Venezolanos.

@BLAIR M Schirmer Right, it's America's fault. It has nothing to do with SOCIALISM, right? One of the MOST OIL RICH countries in the world and they have a GAS SHORTAGE. You, sir, are an IDIOT!!!
@@brenttesterman3171 You are the idiot!! Maybe it is all America's fault. Or maybe it is because of 'Socialist' mismanagement and American sanctions combined. Maybe the policies of the government of Venezuela since Chavez was first elected would have led to misery (it is an open question) BUT what is undeniable is that the policies of the American government have without doubt increased misery in Venezuela. An oil rich country (rich in very unrefined oil!) that while under the control of US oil companies purposefully did not invest in refining infrastructure. A country that has been under sanctions for 20 years that have explicitly sabotaged efforts to maintain what little refining capacity Venezuela does have. Refining the crudy oil they have takes a lot of complicated industrial processes, which the Venezuelan economy is simply not capable of supporting alone.
@@brenttesterman3171 What a fool you are! You simply refuse to see how evil America really is. You have cruel demons like Elliott Abrams trying to kill more millions of innocent Venezuelans for the oil they have

As someone else here stated, "Let that sink in."
No wonder South and Central America has been pouring over the borders to the USA seeking a better life, but can't create one in their own, native lands, because the moral turpitude existing between the ears of your leaders has the drip down power to make them think they are immortal and the Heaven upon earth they believe they are experiencing will suddenly expose them to what the rich man in the Biblical story of him and Lazarus will eternally be their fate.
It really shows just how delusional Americans are when they cannot comprehend how countries can actually exist without Americans running their economies. i was in Venezuela eight years ago. It really is a beautiful country.

U.S. sanctions have cost the Venezuelan economy BILLIONS of dollars. Here's what the U.N. Rapporteur Alfred De Zayas says:
Excerpt:
...
If you know a humanitarian crisis in Gaza and in Yemen and in Syria and in Sudan and in Somalia you wouldn't say there is humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and at no point when I was walking the streets in Venezuela did I feel threatened or did I see violence or did I consider that this country was undergoing a humanitarian crisis
The solution of the problem is much easier than the band-aid of sending some packages of food or of Medicine, the solution is in my report.

To think any US government, let alone the obscenely corrupt far-right criminals currently in charge, gives a shit about anyone but the tiny minority of oligarchs at the top, is insane.

@Pingu Wetone So it's still someone else fault?
When will you all finally just accept that socialism is fucking trash.
I'm not saying capitalism is good, but socialism is fucking trash.
It must be some quasi-serious international law / treaty because any kind of law pretty much ends at the border.
What a loser attitude. Project the failures of the shit-show that is socialism onto others.

My guess his ass is already comfortably back in Hungary.

@@0xXMagnusXx0 $20-25 using which exchange rate? What does that translate to in terms of real earnings?

Yes, because Venezolanos are honest folk. The danger to tourists is from the disloyal opposition (who lost elections in which they did not participate) who hire disguised thugs to harm the tourists, and blame Pres. Maduro and "the poor".
