    Watching this video really touch me, I'm from that Slum, i'm from Petare. You were just standing beside my highschool when you were in that petrol station at "El Llanito", when you were inside the church in "El Carmen" that i used to attend and where my grandparents got married you were just in front of my elementary school and barely one block away from my family house. Seeing you so close to my roots, to my family, to my friends was really touching. I am one of the many that left the country because of the economic and social crisis, I'm actually living in Perú, i arrived here after travelling like 6 days in busses. As you could see for yourself, the crisis are no jokes. And from the bottom of my heart, i just want to thank you, thank you for helping my comunnity, for showing me again the streets i grew up.

I ended up living there for 6+ years, learnt Spanish and got married, lived a life of theirs and in return what I learned changed my life forever. You wanna understand South America? Move there, try to make a living and once you become one of them then you'll never see life the same again. I'll forever in debt with the beautiful people of Colombia for what I've become.

Maybe we need to start fighting fire with fire.... the good are too good and un balanced, they need to fire some shots of their own.

    • @grantp4022
      @grantp4022 4 года назад +6

      I felt the same way about the guy running the soup kitchen. Seems very
      genuine and down to earth. The real way to help people and kids living
      in those types of slums, is to "directly" send money to people like him, that
      will use it to feed the "poor." But -- how do you find guys like him ?
      People that donate to big charity places, like the Salvation Army, Unicef,
      and other big places, must understand that out of every $ 100.00 they
      receive, about 85 -90 % is kept to pay the administrators. They run these
      places to make money from their jobs. The setup is wrong and does not
      work.
      Hopefully now with the internet, people can develop direct connections with
      people on the "ground floor" and send it directly to them. This will be the first
      step in solving poverty. The 2nd step is the people must get a government in
      power, that is democratic, and allows capitalism and free enterprise, and the
      people themselves, will have to build their own economy, like was done in
      North America -- being the US and Canada, that started out with very little
      200 or so years ago.

      Leonardo I was wondering if people from those slums ever could escape and it is great to see and hear that you have. And to Pearl, yes what you say is correct. But every country in the word seems to be doing this. The US debt is 21 trillion and that is not counting the unfunded countabilities. That is borrowing against the future earnings of our children. That is selling our kids to the filthy governments so they can wage wars and feed the military industrial complex and big banks. Sooner or later the bill will have to be paid and perhaps then we'll see these scenes from Venezuela in a lot more places... 😢

      There is no such thing as FREE.
      Government takes money from tax payers so government can give "FREE" money to its citizens.
      Without Tax Payers, government will have no money. There is no such thing as "FREE".
      Eventually you'll run out of other people's money.

    • @user-js5cw7of7q
      @user-js5cw7of7q 5 лет назад +4

      Terrie Smith you are correct. Nothing is free. Americans are going to get hit upside the head with a 2x4 while they’re looking down on their screens when they realize you can’t print yourself into prosperity. Fractional reserve banking only works if the bank can keep creating loans and people can still afford to make payments on those loans. When one of those fails and the velocity of money stops, only then will we find out that taxing the rich won’t work, interest rates at 0 won’t work, bail ins won’t work, withdrawing money from a pension or 401k will be impossible since there is no money there. It will be a rude awakening. Then we will look like Greece, Venezuela, Europe(France, Italy, Portugal) Mexico and other Latin American countries. Because we did the same thing those governments did(socialist, democracy, communist). They made promise, increased spending, expanded the government, create jobs for the now. All in the end steals from our future and our kids future.

    • @FeelingShred
      @FeelingShred 5 лет назад +13

      NEVER donate your hard earned money for those "poor" countries... what you have to understand is that people in those countries use the fact of having kids as a "social climbing" mechanism... the more kids you make (and the earlier in life you have them) the more other people will feel pity on you for the sake of the kids... parents who would normally kick an idle lazy fucker out of home now won't anymore, because of the newborn... Companies that would hire someone change plans to hire the mother/father because the kid needs to be fed... and so on... This also happens in wealthy families, where kids are used to portray an external image of "honor" in being a household's father or mother, and thus gaining simpathy of the rest of the family, usually involving inheritances or lending of money... In both cases, poor or wealthy, if you are a young, responsible man or woman and you reach the conclusion that you don't really wanna have kids, you will probably be looked down as the scapegoat of the family and portrayed as the "not hard working one", and there will be no basic support for you, even though you might be the one who spends the less within the entire household. Also, hard working siblings will be taken advantage by others and every member of the family will overlook the other lazy/leech siblings bad behavior because he's got more charisma/is funnier /whatever the excuse might be. Hope I broke down the situation for ya, it's really sad when you really start to recognize these patterns repeating like a nightmare. DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THESE FUCKERS

There's a lot of corruption and deception and vote-buying and ballot box stuffing - all on a grand scale - but you can't retain authority without some popular support. A lot of people down there want Maduro out, sure, but only so they can collect the "fair share" Chavez promised them. And those kids today, a brief ten years from now, some of them, may well be some of the teenagers that make that area of the city dangerous and potentially fatal. I've heard that in Brazil, in favelas, ten year old kids in gangs will roll you, and leave you with only your underwear.

    My girlfriend's parents live in Maracaibo, her dad has to buy gasoline from people that bring it from other cities. He bought gas recently that was diluted with water and it ruined his car. Supposedly gasoline is really hard to find now. Also, her parents have to wait in 12 hour lines to get food. Power outages at random. Terrible

She fled because they didn’t want her to get hurt. She literally got robbed of everything at the airport on the way to America. Her grandma is there surviving at 102 years old!
