They basically destroyed the democracy.
That is to a degree true. I have watched hours of footage from this channel and learned about people and countries that I will probably never visit. The issue with mainstream media is that you often have someone controlling what is aired, whether that be through the influence of an editor who may want to put their own spin on what is shown, or in more sinister cases because the paymaster/owner of the channel may have their own agenda or there may even be state control. What we see here is what Nick wants to show us and I am pleased to say that his only bias is to show the real people who live in the countries he visits and how local or global events impact on their lives.
As i sit here in my 3brm home with central air and heat and feel sorry for myself because of my financial situation i realize how blessed and fortunate i am to have the things i have. @@lavanniek You might be trolling, and that's fine, but I want to leave this comment for others who might read it and learn some things on this topic. Most evidence has shown that immigration will actually benefit our economy. Did you also know that birth rates are declining in the US, and by 2069 our workforce will be filled with old people? By 2100 our population is going to have declined. Immigration is one of the best ways to counteract that. Also, on socialism, I find the idea of 'socialism' in the US to be funny. Social programs aren't socialism. A social program is the government providing's things to their population because they believe it should be something every citizen deserves. Social programs, like access to water, plumbing, etc. At one point, the leaders of the government said; "Hey, our people should have this thing", until it became a standard for their nation, and eventually became a standard for life. The Roman empire was able to provide public baths and complex infrastructure to their citizens, meanwhile most of their neighbors were barbarians in comparison. That was a social program, now its the norm of life. At some point, someone said; "Hey, maybe we shouldn't let homeless children die on streets", "Maybe we should create a program to ensure kids are looked after", "maybe we should come up with a program that will ensure old people can retire". Then, it became a standard of our life. If you don't support social programs, aka what has been deemed as 'socialism' when its not, then you don't support the social programs we have in place currently. You can't magically draw the line and say; "These social programs make sense, but these don't". No, if you don't like social programs, that's fine, but keep it real my guy. You want to live like it was in the Roman era where you had to pay or somebody wouldn't put out your house fire. SOCIAL PROGRAM. What's happening is that the standards we live in are improving, and now we are further moving the agenda and debating what our citizens deserve. Backthen it was; "Should we let children starve on the street", and now its; "Should we let people go 200K in debt because of a heart problem", or, "Remember how we kind of suppressed blacks for 200+ years, then decided to pump crack into their communities to fund a war? How about we try to fix that?" Social programs do not mean a socialized government, they're two different things, there is no evidence to support that socializing a country is 'bad'. In fact, socializing a country is a sign of prosperity. Its what empires do. I never heard of an empire NOT providing their people a better life. We can yell; "US #1", but for being #1, we certainly have nothing but military to show for it. You got people in Dubai building fake islands and giving their workers free Porsches (Free healthcare btw) and the US doesn't even have decent roads. You got other EU countries with extremely low crime rates, decriminalized drugs and 0 harsh prison sentences that are 'socialized' yet our country is still full of gangs that people like you yell to deport. If we are truly an empire, we should be finding ways to give American's things that other first world countries don't have. Alleviating the stresses of life. Other countries should envy us. That's what empires do, and something people like you fight against. Its dumb.

So you live in the country that basically can be blamed for much of the suffering of people in Latin America over the last half a century and you pay taxes into the machine that causes the suffering of others. You have just reminded me of why so many people really don't like ignorant arrogance. Do you have any idea how much money the US has either stolen or cost Venezuela just over the last 8 or 9 years? How do you feel about the more than 40,000 Venezuelans who died just in 2019 alone because the US blocked medication from getting to Venezuela? Keep paying your taxes and sucking up the propaganda so you can remain perfectly ignorant and continue to support the evil that many other countries have to deal with. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Well, as they say "what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger",,,,,,,,, Venezuela is projected to have the highest growth rate of all of S. America this year. BTW: I've lived in 5 different countries in my life, including the US and 3 countries in Europe, and living in Venezuela is clearly the best in regards to freedom and actual concern of the government about civil rights. The utter stupidity (like two of the comments above 👆🏻) people have in regards to Venezuela is astounding. The vast majority of the countries economic issues are directly the result of heavy US sanctions put into place in the early 2000s, not because of “socialism” or “communism.” Right-wing morons who don’t even know the definition of either system just puppet what they heard on fox news. So true

How about we try to fix that?"
Social programs do not mean a socialized government, they're two different things, there is no evidence to support that socializing a country is 'bad'.
Its dumb.
@@lavanniek The countries in the world with the most socialist values (not the personality cult of NK or the state capitalist China) are the Nordic countries which are the most stable ones regularly topping the world happiness index, having lowest inequality, values social responsibility, highest trust in Government, free press and strong safety net.

You are blessed brother!!
Dam what school did you go to?
@@southphillyexplorer case western school of dental medicine
What a fantastic achievement...congratulations 🙏🎉
Jesus Christ thats a tremendous amount of debt. I hope the salary will eventually compensate if not try and gain some experience there for a bit and then come to Australia. Dentists get paid very well here especially if you have the necessary requirements
If you live in the states and find yourself complaining from time to time its ok but remember how lucky you are and why it is important to stay humble and help where you can because this can easily be us. Just donated to hermanitos. Here watching these video in tears. So sad how much suffering there is in this world. Thanks for making these videos brother. It makes me ask myself what am I doing with my life. I should be helping others.... You are an inspiration bro
Glaid i live in norway
Absolutely horrifying and devastating... not that I didn't know this existed or haven't seen other similar circumstances with people in 3rd world countries but every time I see people struggling in extreme conditions it humbles me and reminds me how great I'm having for simply just being in the USA where I get to complain about my $7200 mirrorless video camera coming in a deformed box and I called the customer service to complain... 🤦🏻♂️ May God bless and help these people.
verdade irmão, sou brasileiro classe média, realmente existem pessoas em situação deplorável em nosso país, principalmente no norte e no nordeste
@@gustavomartin6960 Lula, vai levar isso para todo o Brasil.
Your camera is 6+ months wages for millions if not 10s of millions of americans
Why isn't a phone camera good enough?
Oh, CNN didn't tell you any of that, what a surprise.
Having spent time in the Region it was heartwarming and heartbreaking to see some the most warm-hearted and lovely people I've found anywhere in the world having to preserve such hardship. And perhaps the profound benefit even a meager gift from those watching this video is what is most difficult to convey. God bless you and everyone who made this video possible.
Thank you, Jack!
That's good of Brasilians to help the Venezuelans with job training and that kind of thing. I wish we could do something like this in the US to make our border situation better for everyone involved.
You are doing really important work, here. Thank you for amplifying these people and their stories. ☮️
I can no longer travel and I completely enjoy your videos!!! Thank you for sharing!
My heart goe's with the Venezuelian people, thank's to hermanitos.

Thank you for being there and the work you are doing, you are sending to the world a message and giving a voice to these people who are experiencing hard times. Anything helps. We can help them... Could be me or one of my loved ones going thru this situation. Blessings
Thanks for all these videos, showing the reality of many countries and showing us ways to help these people 👏🏼👏🏼
Appreciate the support, thanks for watching!
Meu Brasil lindo e humano, vamos continuar ajudando as pessoas é isso que se chama humanidade 😍

@@aryanrajput7746 Hola
Nice to see Brazilian people helping our brothers Venezuelans
Amazing! In the 70’s Venezuela was a “ rich country “ . Everyone in Brazil envied Venezuelans.
Yes. That was real in the 70's. But just give power to the leftist party and u will see a nation trasform in a one big slum in a decade. Venezuela.
@@lucianosilva3661 well china,Vietnam,is not slum.
@@historyeditz8326 k, but there is some sort of liberty over there? i think no. So, there is no slum out there, but inside them...
@@lucianosilva3661 many democratic countries are poor. No ideal solution

Don't think of yourself as "blessed" compared to Venezuelans. If you settle for half-assed things your government does it only takes a couple of decades of that before you wind up becoming the next Venezuela. Always push for better governance. That's the real lesson of Venezuela
I very much agree.
Thank you Mike for telling us your story God bless you and God will be with you
Oh God please forgive me for I know that I sometimes dont appreciate happy lucky I am. Please May God protect these lovely venezuelans. Love from Philippines.
I have been wondering about the rest of Venezuela and it's people. I pray they get relief from such a tragedy situation. And thank you for your vlog and I hope that you keep safe and hope to contribute to your video.
So crazy to think Venezuela used to be the richest and most developped country in South America! Shows how corruption and bad management can do great damage. Hope for these people that their country can recover and turn back to prosperity one day
That was Argentina and is still there behind Chile Venezuela has never been the best
Shows how socialism can do great damage.
Its called communism
No no, Venezuela never been a rich country but Chile Costarica and Argentina.
In reality Chavez was Authoritarian, not socialist or communist.
Many thanks for helping these people. God works in so many ways. He gave these people a kind and helpful person.
The fact that they dont lose smile in dire situation... breaks my heart.. hope they will have life that shouldn't worry what to eat the day after..
God bless Brazil / Deus abencou o Brasil
A gente tem muita sorte de Deus ter gostado do nosso brasil e salvado do socialismo.
