Thank you, Honduras. As you can see by this video, this country goes much further than its world famous image of darkness. Obviously these things are happening but what comes to the surface for me is the people's strength and hospitality. Stay strong, Honduras 🇭🇳
The saddest thing about Central and South American countries is how they have the ingredients and foundations to being safe and prosperous countries but there’s just too much corruption.

I was born in Honduras...in Comayagua. I was quite lucky,(no offense) I've been adopted by my parents, grew up in Switzerland. I visited Honduras three times, the last time this year in march. Every time I really enjoyed it, eventhough if it's a completely other world. Honduran people are always ready to help you, they're very polite even If your spanish isnt perfect. I really loved the kitchen, the smiles and everything..but I feel very lucky, I had everything. Sometimes, I keep asking myself "why me? How come 32 years ago, a baby like me had the possibilities, many kids didn't had"? I guess, I'll never know, but I'll always be grateful to the woman who left me at the hospital, to give a great chance. Thank you for showing the real Honduras ❤
Why are so many murders happening if they're so nice? I wanna visit to see for myself. I've always wanted to visit honduras. I have 2 cousins adopted together from Honduras when one was 2 months old and the other 15 months. They're blood siblings.
As a Honduran I am surprised at how well many Hondurans speak English, people that you would never imagine they have the minimum of education. So much potential in such good, hardworking and honest people. Drug trafficking and corruption are a cancer in my poor country. I was born and lived there for 14 years. Then I lived 4 in Guatemala. Now I live in Europe, I miss my home a lot, but I can't imagine coming back to my country. It's really painful not being able to go home.
aparte de los idiotas y racistas que han respondido a tu comment, Honduras es literalmente un narco estado...mi familia y yo tuvimos la oportunidad de irnos del pais en los 90s, cuando las cosas se pusieron feas..
Thanks for visiting my country,a country full of tragedies devastated by nature, corrupt government , but good and hard working people are still standing ...God bless you and bless my beautiful and dear Honduras 🇭🇳 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Ariadna, as I mentioned in the video, the people of Honduras have been very kind towards me. i hope things get better for you all sooner rather than later. Nick
@Rafael Jackson it takes two to tango foreigners have tried to instal puppets everywhere but not everyone falls for it keep in mind its someone born in the country that sells it out to a foreign power.
@Rafael Jackson what a joke! Even the local water council is corrupt. Corruption is rampant in this country. It's their way of life. USA and Europe has nothing to do with this level of corruption.
why do they have kids? Why bring children into that world? Isn't it strange that birth rates in the West are at an all time low despite the comforts they have.
@@randyborstol2491 I think the increasing birth rate is also because of the lack of knowledge to family planning that's why its also important for the government to reach those people who needs it the most.
@@dianneromero08 it's that type of thinking is the problem. 'Government person - I can't stop sticking my dick into my girl so i can bring more children into this hellhole' 'Have you tried a hobby like chess?'
"I hope to see you again in Heaven.." I've never heard anybody say that, after meeting somebody. Taking it, using it, appreciating the love from Carlos.
I completely agree and hope for the best for him. I was happy to hear him describe his experience living in Texas and about how helpful and courteous the Texans were who he came across. Of course there are bigoted people in this and every other country, and the media loves to highlight them, but most of us like to see people happy and if we have a chance to help in a small way we do.
You listened to a 2 minute conversation. You have know idea who he is or what he has done. Why don’t you invite the stranger to come live in your home.🤦🏻♂️
Man! I’m a Muslim but that Carlos guy loves Jesus so much and have a lot of hope even tho he’s jobless and have nothing, nice guy i wish he finds a good job. I love positive people 🤝🙌
What does you being a muslim have to do with anything? Christianity came long before Islam, and is the main religion in this region. You make it sound as if because you are muslim you usually would not appreciate someone who is a Christian, but that in this case you are making an exception. And, of course you are muslim. You were born into a muslim family who lived/originated in a country where there were mostly muslims. Had you been born into a Honduran family the likelihood of you being a muslim now would have been close to zero. So, what is your point?
@dalchaval94 his wording definitely leaves room for different interpretations of his message. Since you sound like the type of muslim I would want more of in this world I am not going to argue against your point made.
This is my grandfather's country. He and his brother came to the United States in the 1940s. Back then it was dangerous (their father was murdered when they were children) but it was mostly just poor, not gang-run. My grandfather and his brother both ended up joining the military, serving in WW2, and sending money home to their mother and siblings. All the younger siblings got to go to school as a result. (My grandfather only was able to attend until 6th grade.) Now the family that still lives there (in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula) lives in a compound behind a wall for obvious reasons. They have money now because of my grandfather and great-uncle sending all their younger siblings through school so many years ago.
You might want to thank the british outcasts and military for invading America and killing over 40 million Indians and Mexicans in order to make room for the world's immigrants and steal all the precious resources to enrich themselves beyond your wildest imagination. So keep breeding like flies and we will see what group of innocent souls is marked for extermination next, once we become so overcrowded and consume most resources and are force to spread out again. Maybe if they kill another 40 million we can make room for the rest of the world's outcasts and immigrants. Well at least we are the world's number one immigration dumping ground. Now that is great for the massive corporate entities. Because they are always looking for cheap labor. That is if drought, war, famine, plagues or savage storms don't take us out first. You people have no clue what lies ahead. You will learn real quickly that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the border. This country was built on genocide and slavery. Now that is a country to be proud of.

This is so interesting coming from a different point of view. I have been to Honduras 5 times and have spent more than 2 weeks there each time. I have been to Tegucigalpa and other parts around the city and never once have I felt endangered. I am fluent in spanish and have traveled all over with locals. Yes, I took precautions and was very aware of my surroundings all the time. However, I have met lifelong friends in Honduras and Honduras is filled with so many loving and caring people. I hope this country will become safer in the future!!💙🇭🇳
I lived in honduras outside of San Pedro sula for awhile and am not hispanic but spoke Spanish. I never felt threatened and everyone was always kind to me. The people we would see killed were all from gang related activity but the people in the gangs were always nice to us it is just their way of life and protection.
Anyone else just fall in love with Carlos? He looks like a nice dude. I hope he finds a job. 'Heavy Metal at its roots is a constant demand on authorities to do what's right' As a metal head, I cried.
I appreciate the way you regularly portray the issues in these countries as a result of the corruption at high levels that are beyond what the regular person has control over. People all over the world are just trying to live life and when you talk with them you realize we are all the same and just existing under very different circumstances.
No were not the same, you have the super rich ruling class and then you have the upper class, middle class and peasant slave class. There are those in control who live by their own rules and then you have the one's who are rich enough to buy their way out of trouble and freedom. Then you have the one's born into money and then you have the low IQ people, then you have the talented people, the beautiful and the very smart. So we are nowhere near the same. But there are a lot of peasant class working people just trying to survive and meet their living needs. But greed always wins out in this sick world where the rich never have enough money or power to satisfy their addiction. We are divided by class, race, religion, neighborhoods, countries, political affiliations, parties and beliefs, self interests, gender and ethnicity. So keep pretending we are all in the same boat. People are sick, evil, demented. selfish, greedy, warmongers, with large egos and only strive to get what they want and will settle for no less then getting their own way like a bunch of spoiled brats. Money controls all the dumbed down sheeple of the world period. So you might want to open you eyes and take note or continue to believe whatever your wishful mind wants to believe. War is the biggest business this world thrives on in case you haven't noticed. World War III is knocking on the door but the dumb down sheep were none the wiser.
not really true though is it? Lots of people are using drugs, selling drugs, doing crime. If all these people were wonderful - the world would not be such a shithole.
@@randyborstol2491 They could still be decent people - But when everything has failed (i.e. the corrupt system around you, economy tanking, etc), people turn to other means to make money or to simply forget about the daily struggles in life. I’ve never even thought about what life would be like in Honduras but this video gave me a glimpse of what it would be like living there. It seems very dangerous but at the same time, there seem to be a lot of kind hearted and hardworking people also. My heart gives out to the guy in the Texas Tech shirt, he seems like a passionate guy just trying to be happy. Thank you for this educational video.
I'm from Honduras and I love how people are very curious to know where are you from so they could practice their english with you! We don't have a lot of tourists over here so when we do, we take advantage of the situation to practice what we've learned!
Not many tourists? Well, when I travel, there's lots of foreigners at the airport :/ Maybe there's not many tourists that go to Tegus' downtown, but to Honduras? There's quite a lot (mostly asians).
But I've met dozens of Hondurans on construction sites and they always seem offended that I'm brown and only speak English. Many treat me differently because of "not" knowing spanish here in America. So I see and hear lots of hate for my country coming from Mexico and below. Please assimilate, and don't segregate we already have enough hate.

Mr. Lainez! One of my favorite teachers in High school. Growing up I lived in both areas of Tegucigalpa and you dont really notice it when you are a kid, but when you get older you start to feel the tension on the streets, murders in every front page of the newspapers, its scary, but somehow you kind of just get used to it but you learn what areas to avoid, and to always be alert. It is hard and the people of this country definitely don't deserve it.
So cool that Mr. Lainez was your teacher, he is great man. Very articulate and objective. Thank you for sharing your experience growing up here, that is really valuable for me to read. Hope all is well with you nowadays. Thanks again! Nick
As a person from Tegucigalpa i relate to thi so much, its hard even going outside. If you have yo use public transportation you fear you'll get robbed or harrased and its the same if you have your own vehicle.... Now imagine being a woman here.

One time I walked up a mountain alone one time, and later I found out someone was murdered in that way a few days later. The scene with the masonic flag on a hill is by where I was robbed once when I was there for the last time in probably forever. I was alone in a place with bridges, and I saw a guy a stone's throw away just leaning on a barrier. I asked him for directions, but as soon as he saw my pants ,he looked at the bulge. I thought he may have been gay in the non-happy way, but he was just looking for something to steal. I was too careless in part because at the time I was the scariest-looking thing around, having a big black beard of several months where I would be asked by Hondurans where I was from. I told them Honduras, but they said "You look like you're from Iraq." Anyway, the thick man got close to me with a concerned expression, and then just slid his hand down, and I was like, in my mind "Is this sexual harassment? Is this actually happening?" But he took out my cell phone. I reached to get it back but he blocked me while looking at it. I was thinking he probably had a gun or a knife, but I hated the injustice, so I stood there thinking of what to do. I then told him that it was a cheap phone anyway, and he smiled, and I walked away without looking back. Silly me. Later I told my aunt: "Now I'm a real Honduran 'cause I got robbed."
My husband and I went to honduras 2 years ago, nothing happened to us, one of our best trips. like Any other country, there are dangerous neighborhoods that you should not visit, but I think Honduras has so many safe places to visit like pullhapanzak waterfalls, roatan, Valle de angeles, ruinas de copan, etc.
I lived in Honduras in the late 80s and it wasn’t violent. It was the safest country in the region. However, the corruption that was always present brought in the violence because the narcotraffickers could easily bribe govt and military officials until they were able to take over. The corruption and willingness to sell out has always been the country’s Achilles heel
Yeah my dads from there and lots of my family still lives there it changes in safety depending on the time I hope I can visit my family there soon though! It’s a viticulture place

I visited Tegucigalpa as a gringo woman five years ago and the scariest thing I found was the terrifying landing at the airport XD You literally have to skim the top of a mountain to come in for the landing.
That's exactly why they dont show Americans what these places are really like so they can have a false ans naive understanding of the safety and standard of living they enjoy and take for granted
You do realize this has an agenda? A 30 minute video doesn't speak for the entirety of a country. I lived and worked in a small town outside of La Esperanza, Honduras. I felt safe, there was no illegal activity, and the people were warm and caring. You want Stockton, Detroit, Cleveland and Baltimore to represent America? Here you have the typical Asian tourist in his natural habitat: The Internet. He has a completely whitewashed view of the world as a whole, thinks it's a beautiful place where bad things rarely happen and where most people are basically good.
I spent some time traveling alone in Tegucigalpa in 2010. No problemo. I think people just like danger porn and want to believe these places are anything different.

The country has the resources and a good geographical position to be a prosperous country, but sadly corruption, crime, and things like that prevent Honduras from progressing. I Hope to see a prosperous and happy Honduras in the future. Dios bendiga mi Honduritas.
I learned long ago that if anything is happening, good or bad, it is because the state wants it that way. If it didn't, something would be done. Governments create problems, they never solve them. All over the world some politicians always gain power because of poverty and crime. The more poverty, the more power. So it'll never change then, only get worse. Instead of helping people, you do as the US politicians are doing: constantly talk about the problems but meticulously making them worse and worse instead of solving them. No way to run a society, but that's our beloved governments. Can't control people if they're free, educated and well off. Easy to control them when they're poor, hungry and desperate. So let's make them poor, hungry and desperate! Best plan ever here...What could possibly go wrong?
So much going on at RUclips, but once in a while you stumble on a really interesting channel, and this is one of my favorites. Always intelligent and thought-provoking.

Don't you think the people need to reclaim thier country? Why is fleeing to the USA the only way? I mean I get it. And on the same token, you could have just went to a nice place and avoided all the rest of the country that is bad... sure every country has good and bad places but is it worth it to go to a country and risk it? In the US the bad parts of major cities are clearly obvious, everyone will tell you beforehand. Just don't go to those places. In a country like Honduras, could you truly go anywhere without a local guide? And feel safe the entire time? It took us 25 minutes to get to the heavily guarded mission house. Our bus driver had to be the best driver alive. Ive been driving busses for 26 years, and he amazed me. He taught me how to drive up a muddy mountain... across a rickety wooden bridge... and finaly to Guinope to visit the orphanage. The only place that I felt unsafe was near the airport. Once you get to the smaller towns, the people are really kind.
My dad is Honduran, his mom (my grandma) and her sisters left Tegucigalpa because it was so dangerous. You can’t even really get any tattoos that symbolize Honduras because a lot of them are demonic or gang affiliated. I ended up getting the name Tegucigalpa tattooed on me since it’s the only thing I could tattoo that’s not directly bad. My grandma says it’s really bad out there and they had to flee to have a better life. I have family out there I’ll probably never get to meet.

Very nicely done! I deployed to Honduras in the mid 80's. I saw a beautiful country, kind people and a massive potential offset by those (mostly from outside) who would cause great harm! I wish them success and prosperity in the future but I am saddened that the situation has degraded!

I live in Tegucigalpa, I'm glad that you are doing ok. I think that, like in every place, Honduras has both of the spectrum, the good and the bad, unfortunely the bad it's just overwhelming. Happy to see that you got to visit downtown, such an history rich place in my City.
I lived in Tegus and in Santa Lucia. Absolutely a beautiful nation. There are "bad spots", for certain, But the U.S. is just like that too. We are now seeing our OWN corruption come out into the open. Honduras crime has nothin' on USA's. Dios te bendiga, catracho!

Hope I can visit this country again in the near future. Un abrazo desde Argentina para los hermanos hondureños!

That's where my dad used to live.

WTF does Heavy Metal have to do with this?
@@zeitlichkeit5094 ong
@@zeitlichkeit5094 Kevin edited his comment without explaining. The heavy metal quote is from 20:45
I appreciate the way you regularly portray the issues in these countries as a result of the corruption at high levels that are beyond what the regular person has control over.
But I've met dozens of Hondurans on construction sites and they always seem offended that I'm brown and only speak English. Many treat me differently because of "not" knowing spanish here in America. Mr Percy Leonardo Lainez?

The first few days I was culture shocked , a lot of people riding motorcycles , walking , or simply just watching the block . People are very generous & humble but you also have to watch out for crime . Rule of thumb is don’t wondered off on your own , nor travel to dangerous places . Overall , there’s so many places to visit and money goes a long way so you will have a blast . I encouraged you to visit one day , you won’t regret it .
I feel this so hard. My family in Honduras is terminally ill, but it's too dangerous for me to visit

Hi, I'm a Taiwanese and have just been to Honduras in the recent two months. It was a wonderful and beautiful trip for me. I've never come across anyone with guns except military and guards. People there are friendly and polite, not too many are going on and they are just living like any other people in the world. Just don't be at the wrong place at the wrong time. But that applies to anywhere, even in Taiwan.
I am from Honduras and I have been living in Taipei for the last 2 years, such a beautiful country ! I’m glad you liked my country and I agree with everything you said. Greetings !
I have a friend from Honduras 🇭🇳 who lives in Spain 🇪🇸 where I live with her Spanish hombre, you are good people, have you met Spanish people in Honduras 🇭🇳 before?
Bro, going as a tourist not the same as living there.... I've relatives living there and trust me, not good place to be, is not about not being at the wrong place at the wrong time, bad things going on there.
God bless Carlos. So positive, hopeful, smiling, and faithful. When I compare that to how ungrateful and delusional some Americans are, it pains me.

Im from Honduras, and its honestly devastating to see my country infected by crime and corruption.
As a Texan it made me happy to hear the man had a positive experience in Texas. I wish very much that he could find a way to come work here if that's what he wants to do.
Texas was better under Spain than racist Brits and Germans who would come to defile the land with homosexual parades.
Don't you think the people need to reclaim thier country? Why is fleeing to the USA the only way? I mean I get it. But at some point the people need to stand up and take control of their government for the good. Here in the US, we are at a point too where we need to get the radicals ruining our country out.
@@mindymeek2 Honduras is a shithole because of the USA. The richest drug addicts are in the US and Canada, and so the US' evil society is what funds the gangs that become more powerful than the Hispanic governments there. Getting rid of US influence is how to save Honduras.

I didn’t notice before how beautiful Honduras’ flag is. Its colors and design would make you think of a peaceful place. It’s a shame that conflicts between other countries still have an effect in this nation.
🤣
Exactly our flag is beautiful and it reflects on the beautiful places, our food, our people. we are proud of our country, but we can’t deny the amount of problems, economic and social situations that doesn’t allow this economy from growing up. I can tell most of hondurans give our best for this country, but the narco government led us to be one the poorest countries in the world
Sadly, our new "president"/dictator has changed the flag, is planning to modify the Constitution, give the Church less power, etc.
I just got back from Honduras. Please don’t let this video prevent you from visiting. Every place has its bad parts. There’s places in the US that are just as dangerous. The Honduran people are truly amazing and I’m so grateful to have visited such an amazing place!
ah, don't worry, most people know whats up. He wasn't even in danger at any moment in this video. USA definitely has WAY more dangerous places than anything he showed here... _Canada_ has more dangerous places than anything in this video, I'm sure Honduras has some janky areas, but what I saw in this video is no different than the Skid Rows of North American cities.
@@JunkBondTrader Canada's more dangerous?! 🤣
@@JunkBondTrader what a load of bs.
Any part of the USA or Canada is safe to travel without a guide except for like the ghettos of Toronto or Montreal and I mean you'd only run into those if you were walking randomly for miles or you sought them out. Sorry but Honduras is worse than USA and Canada on average, much worse. You can't take your own experience that turned out positive and say that that's the whole country. Did you have a guide, or at least a person with you like a friend who knew the country? I would be surprised if you were in the country, not on a resort, without a guide with you.

They said they already had my bags loaded in the bus. I was instructed not to look in anyone's eyes or speak to anyone. Keep my bilfold in my front pocket, and walk rapidly with my group to the bus.
