Anyway thank you very very much for sharing all this to the world and for keeping such a great attitude. Bless you!
@@patelivid1637 many people ask me this and I've learned I should say this disclaimer before giving any answer: "Yes: I'm venezuelan. Yes: I hate Trump but yes: I hate Maduro more." You may not agree with me and I can see why but if you ask me for one name I would have to say Hugo Chavez. He didn't just "help the poor" like many people say so carelessly. He did it by spending the whole country's savings, he also created a new social class for his family and friends making them extremely rich and powerful which has turned the country into a Mafia-State-like government. But pointing fingers to a name right now is useless. We should keep in mind that it was the majority of venezuelans who voted Chavez in 1998 (like the majority of germans voted for some other infamous guy at their time) and now they're still facing the consequences for that. People are starving, eating from the trash and they've got little values and little education left to use. The country needs to be saved and like a cancer patient, there is no cure that is not harmful.
thank you so much for what you do, as a venezuelan abroad it’s hard to explain people what’s going on back in my country and these videos are incredibly helpful :)
OMG! Thank you Nick, for showing our realities in Venezuela. When I had the opportunity to travel across my country I saw this poverty, people trying to live in their ways and also the beauty of our landscapes. Thank you again to visit us. Hope you return when we become big and free again!
Venezuela is a beautiful country. It's sad that governments do some messed up things & fight over things that make things a mess for everyone. Sadly, there are areas of Los Angeles that are about the same, only with a lotta drug addicts & alcoholics too. The tent cities in Los Angeles are horrific. Anyhow, I would love to visit Venezuela. It's beautiful there! The beaches and oceans are amazing! It's sad to see people suffering anywhere. I hope the governments can sort out whatever the issues are! I've always wanted to see the mountains in Columbia and Venezuela where coffee is grown, chinchillas and some other indigenous animals live! I'd love to stay on a farm there for a while. I doubt I could handle the heat & humidity on the coast. I would love to do some studies of animals indegenous to the mountains though (I'm a biologist, amongst other things). So little research has been done there in Venezuela on the animals there! It would be amazing to do a study for a few years while living there! Anyhow, it's a gorgeous gem there! I hope it's not over-developed in the natural areas! I hope whatever's going on, it gets sorted out & people can get back to a better life.

Thanks for that.
The truth is terrible but true. Our friends started a small business in 2011 near Porta La Cruz. They were robbed at gun point tied up and left very shaken. They were fortunate to have not been harmed physically. Life is very hard there. Unless you have lived there it is difficult to understand how bad it really is. Living there one year was enough for me.
Wow! Jose's story was like a movie, so horrible. Our thoughts and prayers are with them Venezuelans. Thank you Nick for sharing all your experience with us.
Interesting and sad and so scary what Jose had to go through! The highlight in this for me was the 2 flats these ladies showed where you could see they tried to make them homely. I loved the paintings on the wall, the curtains in the bedroom, whatever they were made of. I pray and hope things will improve for Venezuelans.
I’m Venezuelan, but form a different state called Zulia - specifically in Maracaibo City. I encourage you to go there and see the reality of a state that gave everything to Venezuela and they destroyed it.

Thank you Nick for a wonderful series on your travels in Venezuela. Chirimena-Miranda!! When I was a child it used to be very hard to get there, not road, no unhabitants. Just one of the most beautiful beaches I have never seen (and I have traveled a lot). The Venezuelan Caribbean is magic, perfect.
It is a real tragedy that corrupt power in the hands of a few can so destroy a paradise on earth. For a country rich in natural resources this is is such a failure of humanity. So sad.
My dad has been kidnapped two times in Caracas, luckily he is alive but he spent months in psychiatrist, he got traumatized for months. This was many many years ago, I was a kid still but I remember most of it, he didn't even wanted me to show up at the windows. It was really bad time for my family

Thank you for sharing the heart tugging life on both sides of Venezuela. A lot of what goes on in Venezuela goes on here in South Africa. Sending you a big hug for taking us into the real deal.
I can see why this is overwhelming, but thank you for showing us the discrepancies - not just between different areas, but also between how things used to be, and how they are now. These stories are heartbreaking, but you showing us makes a difference because it raises our awareness of the reality of what’s going on. The people you’ve been showing us seem so nice and just doing the best they can. Jose’s story was crazy! So glad he and his girlfriend made it out safely. I can’t imagine going through all that and finding out it’s not even that uncommon. Thank you, Nick for showing us all of this. We need to see it. 💚
You are providing coverage of a place and times which wouldn't otherwise be exposed. Your visit is so much about the people, not the mountains, beaches, or bricks. That's the best part. You might try selling it to PBS or CBS in the USA, not that any of us want you to turn into a Casey Neistat. You are firmly on a track that you are good at.
Another historical monument of time, created by the great Nick. These videos document moments that are unscripted masterpieces of Art. We're so lucky to be shown these patches of time that are unadulterated, in their most original state. From the scenery, to the people and the governments in which they reside; this is truly life as it is, everywhere Nick takes us. It's these reasons why I feel that these videos will be referenced to by Historians of the future, in their attempts to piece together the past. Nick, I don't think you understand just how great and how appreciated you are to/by us and to time itself. You are doing a great job, not only documenting time, but by giving us your perspective in the times in which we are shown. I hope these words can show you just a small bit of what you mean to all of us and encourage you to continue your work, not only for us, but for time itself. Good afternoon, good evening and goodnight, my dear friend and thank you!
Much needed VLOG, it is not always about luxury planes, hotels and expensive food ! An eye opener. I hope normalcy returns in lol these countries very soon .
Your best video of an exceptional series -brutal but necessary for the rest of us to see. Can't rebuild unless there's law and order. Jose's story - it was so good, Nick, that you had him tell it to the camera and Jose, you're the man for telling it. That it could have been cops, current or former, it's like where do you start to turn things around? I've heard of major league baseball players (in the U.S.) going back to Venezuela where they're from and getting kidnapped, which is why a lot don't go back. Like I said before, in a comment to one of your previous videos, Venezuela didn't get to where it's at now overnight - it's been a long slide down a slippery slope.
Very sobering video. It's important to get the real story out there so people are under no allusion of the severity of the situation in Venezuela. I can't imagine imagine how stressful each day is for the locals because I imagine you're constantly watching your back
Fantastic video. I live in Costa Rica and so many of my neighbors are Venezolanos who have fled Venezuala . I've heard so many horror stories, it's hard to process. You my friend are doing the internet a great deed of transparency. Not to mention what a humble person you are !

Ok here is the thing about the satalite TV. Direc-TV used to be CHEAP in Venezuela, almost everyone I knew had either Direc-TV or Cable. I grew up in a barrio and I had every single channel package available. When things started going bad it got more and more expensive. That is why you see satelite TV antennas all over the place. Yes, some people did steal them, but they are the minority.
@@DougPodzun well aware of that, but they used to steal the satillite dishes because hey are made of aluminum so they melted them and sold them, not because they were going to use the dish. It would be useless without the decoder anyway.
Wow this is incredible it's heartbreaking to see how the Venezuelan people struggle everyday 😢 Thank you for showing us what we don't see on mainstream media and big up to Jose for surviving that horrific night it's just unreal
I'm from Trinidad and Tobago and there are alot of Venezuelan people here,in Trinidad and it's really a sad state in Thier country all because of politics, very nice people though!
When I was 14 a robber nearly killed me inside a school in Venezuela . He pointed his gun at my face and said that it was going to be my last day alive because I didn't have any money for him as I was just a simple student. He proceeded to load his gun and just after I said my last words a group of children with their teacher passed by so he decided not to shut instead he told me to leave and as I was leaving he hit me on the back of the head and i lost consciousness for a few seconds. After I recovered I heard that the same guy had killed 2 other guys in the school and that he is known for jumping over the fence into the school to rob and kill students. The teachers are so disgusting they never tried anything to stop killers to get into the school, never called the police because the anarchy is so bad that nobody cares about anyone or anything. There is no prevention, no help, no reasonable understanding for human life, and you can see all this reflected in the government actitud towards people of their own community. Basically the most terrifying thing could happen to you and people would ignore you or act like if it was normal and that you are for blame for criminal actions that attackers perform against civilians. IS DISGUSTING
Corruption is also one big problem in out country, fortunately, God had sent President RRDuterte whose advocacies are war on drugs and corruption. At least, criminalities have lessened except for those who have been warned but didn't listen so they were killed even if they were elected local goverment officials. Our Pres Duterte talks blunty and sometimes tackless yet he has made a big difference in our lives and of the nation
The old expression: "It's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live here" but where Venezuela is concerned might be altered to: "It's a nice place to visit via a RUclips video but I wouldn't want to visit in person"....Sad really. Good Work Nick!
I used to think Venezuela is safe from your previous videos and thought what you meant by 'posible dangers'. After hearing the story, I can definitely see why its dangerous.
Amazing videos! Top shelf! You really tell the whole story like no other media can... You are a brave and highly intelligent man and should be recognized by the main stream... Keep doing what you love and thank you for educating millions of us...
Is sad but is a true reality of my country. Robbery, Kidnapping. But thank to try to show the best part or the beautiful part of my country. Thanks Nick!
Another great episode. And again, thank you for showing how we live in my country. Jose's story is indeed far too common, I've myself heard it numerous times in my life. We don't only have to cope with hyper-inflation and miserable salaries, we also have to literally survive street crime, kidnapping and violence. Some regions of Venezuela are more dangerous than others, but crime is rife in the entire country.
I get so nervous every time you say “in case I don’t see you”. Knowing what’s going on in Venezuela and then knowing you’re /were there scares me. God bless you and thank you for exposing our situation to the whole world
Which Venezuelan neighbors? Chances are that they are from the super corrupt upper class there and support Guaido. These Venezuelans you run into here never represent most Venezuelans.
Surely all of us, as fellow human beings, must feel the greatest compassion for those living such a terribly harsh life in Venezuela, and pray that they will receive relief. It seems that an absolutely huge humanitarian effort will be needed. THANK YOU, Indigo, for your videos which keep us informed of the realities on the street. Stay safe.
It almost shocks your senses to see the beauty of the country and the ugliness of poverty next to each other. Venezuela is a beautiful country with so many beautiful people, it's sad what is going on. People tend to look down on the homeless but I wonder how many of us, in our comfy houses, with electricity and running water safely in our home and tons of food and gas for the car, how many of us could survive in that environment without any government help??? I'm not sure I could. These are strong, smart people.
Thanks for your kind words. We have been through many difficult situations due to the political, economic and social crisis in our country. Covering food and medicine expenses is impossible. It's hard to be healthy today in Venezuela. Only those who have access to dollars can cover their daily expenses. Going to a medical checkup is expensive. Prices are dollarized and the minimum wage was increased from $ 2 (40,000 Bs) to $ 15 (300,000Bs) and is also insufficient to cover basic day-to-day expenses. A medcal checkup can cost from $ 15 to $ 20. More than the minimum wage. I have been spending my savings to take my mom to ophthalmologic checkups. She needs an intervention on her right eye as soon as possible. We have already been to 3 different checkups. Looking for different options and budgets. She needs to be operated and the operation costs $ 2000 that we obviously do not have. I had to start a gofundme campaign to ask for donations because we can't cover that expense. The situation of public hospitals is deplorable. There are no inputs to perform the operations. All supplies must be carried by patients. Supplies that are dollarized. Sometimes there are blackouts during operations and they must be postponed. We try to be resilent, to be generous with those who have less chance than us. Although sometimes it is hard and difficult to stay positive when living this situation. I hope the situation changes as soon as possible. We had never been through such a hard situation in my family. We had never had to ask for help to cover medical expenses. We had never had to sell our personal belongings to buy food. I hope that no other country goes through this situation. And if it's happening, get them out of it quickly.
Very sad to see how everyone is struggling just to hang on. Jose's story was so disturbing, no sooner did they get out of one nightmare, just to face another. May they find safety in such turmoil. Great job Nick, stay safe and know we are always wishing this to be over for our VZ friends.

Lo siento mucho! Tu país se ve hermoso!
thank you so much for what you do, as a venezuelan abroad it’s hard to explain people what’s going on back in my country and these videos are incredibly helpful :)
Very happy to hear that!
OMG! Thank you Nick, for showing our realities in Venezuela. When I had the opportunity to travel across my country I saw this poverty, people trying to live in their ways and also the beauty of our landscapes. Thank you again to visit us. Hope you return when we become big and free again!
I hope so to!

Yes, very extreme. Thanks for watching :)

You are providing coverage of a place and times which wouldn't otherwise be exposed. Your visit is so much about the people, not the mountains, beaches, or bricks. That's the best part.

I feel so saddened that my country is facing this. Thanks for showing it all, stay safe
Very sobering video. It's important to get the real story out there so people are under no allusion of the severity of the situation in Venezuela. I can't imagine imagine how stressful each day is for the locals because I imagine you're constantly watching your back

I'm pretty sure if you steal someone's satellite equipment they will quit paying for the service rendering it useless
@@DougPodzun well aware of that, but they used to steal the satillite dishes because hey are made of aluminum so they melted them and sold them, not because they were going to use the dish. It would be useless without the decoder anyway.

So much respect to you Nick you are so brave to go to Venezuela and talk to people about their lives
I am so sorry you went through that, how horrifying not only to deal with that man but to lose any trust you had in teachers and adults in general.

I see why my Venezuelan neighbors say they will never go back to Venezuela. very sad.
Which Venezuelan neighbors? Chances are that they are from the super corrupt upper class there and support Guaido. These Venezuelans you run into here never represent most Venezuelans.
Your intro and general music editing is so lit. I love opening up and watching every vid bro. You’re crushing it
Again, thanks a lot for showing what's really going on in Venezuela. But also, be careful, this is a dangerous place.
Stay safe.
The best solution is for Venezuela to get rid of that evil communist dicta8that has destroy that country
