A few staples? How lucky you were! Our Keystone Cougar had a gazillion. Once we removed the carpet we discovered a serious corner leak on one end of the slide that had developed mold. After treating it, the base floor still seemed firm and did not need replacing, thankfully. That is why RV's should NOT be carpeted. We replaced the main floor area with the recommended underlayment and vinyl planks in, the same color as you used, and loved the new, clean look, intending to the finish the bedroom later. Then the really sad part came: After only 9 months, the planks began buckling and splitting in four different places. We've spent the year in an Ohio winter, but kept our rig warm with heat lamps below, a sturdy skirt, and dehumidifier to minimize moisture. And we haven't been in motion. Now we're going to remove the planks and try vinyl stick & peel tiles. Good luck with yours. Wonder if anyone else experienced a similar problem?
3 years after this was origially posted I am wondering how the vinyl flooring held up? Vinyl and laminate flooring expands with warmer temperatures and contracts with colder temps. Its not really designed to be glued down, but to be a floating floor allowing the expansion and contraction. So just wondering how its held up?
Such a great decision to replace the flooring! Thanks for showing the transition of the slide out. It works perfectly! You are doing an amazing job with your camper!
I too am glad I saw this video. I had a leak on my pull out which I didn't realize was there until I pulled the rug up but I was wondering what to do to cover the edge of the pullout. I only have one critical issue. When you were using the saw for trimming you were wearing clothes that were loose fitting. Not a good look around machinery that can pull you in. That is how farm accidents happen. Coveralls are the way to go.
WOW. I love the wood plank flooring! The reno is coming along nicely. I met my sister and her husband this past weekend when they were in the North GA mountains at an Airstream RV park camping. This is their 3rd vintage Airstream and they have reno'd all 3 themselves. I was describing to my sister what you are doing with this RV renovation and how inspiring it is for me. They have a vintage Apache pop-up camper they are selling so I have decided to buy it from them. I know there won't be much space once it is open and set up to renovate but i plan on doing something to it so it looks retro cute. Thanks again for sharing all of these videos. I can't wait to see the next step.
I have been subscribed to your channel but somehow I haven’t seen a video in a long time! I’m so glad you colaberated with Elysia English because I never miss one of her videos. It brought your channel back in my vision!! I really enjoyed your video and loved the way you flow!! Will have a The DIY Mommy marathon very very soon to catch up on all I have missed!!
I realize this is not a new video, but I wanted to ask you Christina, were you worried at all about the floor getting damaged from the slide coming in? I would love to do this in our camper, but am afraid of the slide out damaging new flooring. We have linoleum flooring, but there is this strip of carpet right at the front of the slide out, I've seen so many people take that out and seemingly it didn't hurt anything, or change the way the slide out works. I would love to take that out, there is carpet in the slide out and just that strip in front of it, the previous owners had 3 dogs, as you can imagine what the carpet looks like. :O/ I love your videos!! You do beautiful work!!
Nice work. Looks great. I’m curious if you have had any problems with the flooring buckling or joints opening up as it expands and contracts due the the wide range of temperatures it has to endure.
It's all coming together so well, love the flooring - I want to pull out the carpet in my house and install something like that.I love how the colors in the towel hanging over the oven door coordinates with your kitchen cabinets. Thank you for this!
I would look at other videos on installation in homes. Maybe RVs are different but the videos on how to lay them in a home is different. You NEVER glue them down. I am still trying to decide what method to use. Glue or no glue.
There is a contour tool available that has pins that slide forward & back. It's used to recreate an odd shape so you can easily cut flooring to match perfectly.
It's incredible what a huge difference small changes can make! The decision is always worth the work. I can't wait to see the camper when it's completely finished. And now I want to go and order vinyl plank flooring for our mudroom and bathroom 😆! You always make it look easy, great job!
Many Blessings to you, you are absolutely amazing, and you are doing an amazing job on your camper,it's absolutely beautiful! I was sent to your channel by the English Family, I'm so glad I got a chance to see you, and your beautiful work!!🙏💐💐💐
I love it Christina, it looks amazing, that flooring is so pretty and really enhances the walls and the color of paint you chose, it makes everything look bright and so much better than carpet. I am loveing this camper reno and am excited to see what you do with the entertainment center. I really love those chairs and can't wait to see the L shaped seating you plan on doing, things are really coming together and it's so exciting to see things. Take care and I look forward to your next video, sending love and hugs, bye for now.
Great job, looks amazing, FYI, one thing though so as not to wast so much PL Premium, caulking guns have a metal release lever, so the caulking doesn't continue to come out. Engage when in use, disengage when done.
You did an amazing job on your flooring, you made it look so easy. I’m seriously thinking of doing this to out trailer. So glad I found you and Elysia on You Tube. Ty for sharing.😉😌
I LOVE THIS FLOOR!!!!! We have original Pergo floors that were glued down throughout our house. They are 25 years old, so we need to replace them. Since we have two dogs, five grandchildren, and our house was built on a slab..... we are strongly leaning towards vinyl wood planks. I will be interested in how yours hold up!👍❤️
You're amazing at this. I'm a bit disappointed you didn't cover how you handled the step area. That's more complex than the common flooring and the one part of the job I am considering where I'm not fully confident how to do it properly.
This was so timely for me! I sat down to take a break from gutting a 24' older trailer to watch your video. I bought the same vinyl planks color and all, and I was wondering if I really knew how to do this. You explained everything I needed to know.!! Thanks for the info!
Did you ever have any problems with overhanging your lvp on that slide? Can you walk on the edge and hold up well? I want to do this in my camper, and want to see if there was anything you wish you did differently?
How has the flooring held up once the weight from the dinette has been on it? I saw someone else’s video where the rollers/slides underneath damaged their flooring. Thank you!!
Hi Christina...you're doing an amazing job on your camper, I really like the floor color and pattern...we're in a heat wave in Ontario, it's so hot I don't even like to go outside...Take care....stay safe...
Absolutely gorgeous I really like that flooring. I've been thinking about replacing the ugly crap I have in my kitchen dining area with something like that. Thank you for showing me how easy it is to put that down.
3:51 just curious on how the flooring has held up. Looking to replace our factory linoleum that split over the winter - it wasn’t glued down. We live in Saskatchewan and rv is parked outside during the winter. Thanks
Looks awesome!👍 I was nervous when you had too deal with the transition onto the slide floor. That seems too always be the problem area for new flooring. I've seen where the slide binds up or scratches the new flooring leaving marks, or worse. Great work!!👍
Have you had any issues from gluing the vinyl plank down? In a regular house, LVP is supposed to "float" to allow for thermal expansion/contraction, but in a camper getting pulled down the highway a free-floating floor might not work out so well, so gluing down makes sense. Just curious how it's worked out over these last several years.
I bought these exact floors. I can’t tell, did yours have groove that you are supposed to lock each one into place? The directions say to do that, but I didn’t notice you doing it. Wondered if you just skipped that? Thanks!
@The DIY Mommy WOW! Absolutely amazing. You are quite a remarkable mommy. You did this all by yourself? Where was the good for nothing husband of yours? LOL. You did a better than a great job. I have a 2019 travel trailer and I think its time to change my flooring in my trailer. So I'm just starting the process in getting some ideas. I want to thank you for posting your video. Gave me some great idea. From The Crappy State of California...... Rick.
I love the flooring. We had LVP added to about 3/4 of our home last spring. It’s a very similar color to what you used. We love it! Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with the entertainment center. Loving the makeover so far!
Love this! 14:01 The vinyl in our camper cracked this winter and would like to replace with a product like this. Could i lay it over existing vinyl or should I remove it.
It appears you simply layered the new LVP over the the old vinyl flooring. Was there a reason for not removing the old vinyl when you removed the carpet? Did your installation over the old flooring leave a noticeable bump in the floor? How well did the adhesive stick to the old floor?
Soooo relaxing and neutro colors, looks fantástic. You can do anything! Cristina I have a question you see, I am going to give my furniture a good sanding and then put varnish on them toó, the grain of the wood is nice so do not want to paint it. My question is, I like to make some decoupage crafts for my bedroom too. Can I use the varnish of the furniture on a decoupage craft, like a canvas or boxes?... I do not want the waste of the varnish left so, I hope you can help me😊🤗😆😊🤗💞
@@thediymommy thank you so much dear Cristina for your kindly answer. To be honest, I will start decoupage craft, and as a beginer do not know much about varnishes, 😊🤗💞I will appreciate any help you can give me, thank you so much again.💞🤗💐🌼
I’m an advocate for Krud Kutter! It made removing wallpaper in our 1961 home far easier! We also made over our 1988 camper . We thought the carpet was tan and we even cleaned it just to get rid of the smell until we could get our flooring to replace it. It made no difference. So we ripped it up and found that the carpet was actually a very light blue, not tan. 🤢
Getting ready to do this in our camper. Where would you start laying the flooring? Should we start along a wall or drop a chalk line in the center where we can get a full row from front to back of the camper? Hope that makes sense! Thanks!
Your floor looks so good 😍! I already watched Elysia's video and have also seen two other great camper makeovers you might want to check out. Liz Fenwick has a camper similar in size to yours and she did hers over too. Also Trent and Allie are doing a camper makeover in Utah on Trent's mom's land! 😀👏☀️🧤
I have done this for a living. You did a good job. Lots of nice detail attention. You should be proud of yourself.

You are excellent in describing what you do and why. Have really enjoyed your videos and seeing your progress. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for all the details you add like what kind of adhesive etc. So helpful!

that floor is the cherry on top of the sundae, sooo beautiful. you do such great work.
I find it much easier to pull out carpet with plier over your hands. Great video, helped my wife and I plan our update.
This transformation is really impressive! I too follow Elysia and love that you both collab. Thanks for the great inspiration!
Such a great decision to replace the flooring! Thanks for showing the transition of the slide out. It works perfectly! You are doing an amazing job with your camper!

Fabulous! I love what you've done with the place. Love to see Elysha's transformations too!
I really like the flooring I feel brave enough after watching you to tackle my bathroom floor with this product
You can do it!
The floor matched the space perfectly. Well done good job! I can wait for the other rooms.👍👍

Wow! What a gorgeous, bright, transformation! Thanks for the inspiration, God bless you.
Wondering if it’s better to do this flooring rather than peel and stick? Hmm I need to choose for my camper. Anyway so beatifically done!! Love it.

It’s crazy how flooring can make such a huge difference. We are installing Flores in our vintage airstream motorhome this week.
Very nice choice!! looking so bright and cheerful. You have so much energy to tackle all this yourself! Good job! 😊
Great advice. I’m going to tackle my 2008 Jayco 23’ with similar vinyl planks. The old vinyl looked like your old flooring. Mine is cracking.
Looks beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished project! Love Elysia English's videos too! You'll are so talented! Thank you!

Nicely done Cristina I love your floor and thanks for sharing.
I’m late but we might be being gifted a trailer and this really gives me hope that I will be able to fix it up nicely!
