This is not what I wanted my fiance to see. Now she says living in an rv is easy since she can change the flooring and paint the walls to whatever she wants. Good job and thanks for the new projects!
Tito, I've been Project Mgr & Superintendent on many large, complex commercial jobs during my career, all trades. I have a deep appreciation and admiration for skilled craftsmen, and you are near the top of the heap for Do Anything Guys. You are a rare beast! Thanks for documenting this so well, will make it much easier when I do the floor in our 5th wheel.
WOW WOW WOW! You are truly amazing! I just appreciate your work so very much. You think your projects through first, then everything is done in sections and the way you keep your surroundings so clean and tidy is amazing to me. I’ve been wanting to replace my kitchen vinyl flooring for a while now but really had know idea how to even start, with watching you cut the planks to fit around doors and caddy situations and you showing the tools to use have helped me understand how these projects are done. You may not even realize how smart and talented you are. Thank you for sharing this RV remodel with us. What a beautiful RV.......
Great flooring... We used the same. When we installed our flooring we installed it east and west (you went north and south) it made our RV feel wider and more spacious. One other thing we did, that you didn't was to seal the floor we used KILLS. Another great video Sir!!... Got to Love Washington Winters!!
Aron, I'm getting ready to refurb my 1985 Class A RV... I love this video too... but I noticed he didn't use any Glue... or Padding so the floor will float... I thought that in an RV the wood needs to really be able to flex with the movement... I am going to put my east and west too... so there are more boards to walk across than just down the middle of a couple of them... So you put glue down first ??? Thank you for your help.
That is a great question. Under the carpet there is sub flooring. we painted the sub flooring with kills to hep seal it up then added the tile directly of the top. The problem with peel and stick flooring is you cant use a pad underlay and thickness of the floor is a concern when dealing with slide outs. Depend on your application and the RV..
"BRAVO" After watching sooooooo many videos... and most of them only show the "Finished" floor... This video is the BEST of the BEST... OMGosh... THANK YOU SO MUCH for this Great Video.
Floor looks great!! That vinyl flooring is great stuff... Much better than the thin particle wood flooring with the cheap laminate film over it. That stuff wears bad, and will swell and bubble up if moisture gets in it. My son used this vinyl flooring in his basement, and it is fantastic! Easy to install, wears great, and water proof!!
I just want to say thank you for posting this video! It gave me the courage to dive head-first into our flooring repair and replacement. We had some plywood to replace and decided to eliminate the linoleum and carpet for vinyl plank flooring. I didn’t feel confident enough to do it myself until my wife saw your video. Our project turned out wonderful because of your video! Our 2002 Fleetwood Jamboree GT Class C looks so much better. I’d post pics if I could...
That really warms my heart hearing that my video gave you the confidence to take this project on. Now you know and have something to show for it. Great job!
OUTSTANDING video! Think you would have been better off, after snapping the center line, working from that center out to the sides. Technique keeps the final edge piece(s) of equal size and in proportion to the layout. The Behr paint has primer "mixed into" its Marquis product, but there is no substitute for a separate high quality primer given the extreme heat and humidity the RV cabin must tolerate.
It's nice to see a real project YOU actually paid for. Not another one of those "u-nboxing" or phony "product evaluation" that they got for free and are supposed to believe their honest reporting. If any of them gave a bad report there's isn't a Company out there that would send them anything. Sorry for venting but the other scam is the give free giveaways, give me a break. Great job Tito nice to see good workmanship/
Hi Brian: Thank you. Renovating our Class C and found that Stainmaster, was acquired Ivy Lowe’s. That, Lowe’s still carries a lighter weight flexible plank flooring, but under the Mohawk in Vinyl Plank line (8” x 48”). Your DIY projects offer excellent ideas and immense help!
Oh my God, I was praying for you on that tricky notched plank and it didn’t break. Such an awesome change. I am on my third floor install after 1976 red carpet on brown carpet!!!
Thank you so much for showing this video step by step! My husband and I just bought an older RV that needs a major facelift on the inside! And pulling the carpet out and putting vinyl or laminate flooring is the top on the list!
@@simply.leen. oh girl, ours turned out to be a NIGHTMARE! After we started pulling up the carpet, we discovered our floors had rot and mold from the front to the back! We’re having to pay $14,000.00 just to get everything fixed! Camping World quoted us $20,000.00! But we found a guy that used to work for them and he is doing it privately at his house for far less money!
Thank you so much. Your video covered everything. Truly the perfect A-Z video on "how to" replace RV flooring and those hard trim areas! You also gave me another great idea with your painting demo. I'm totally inspired!
Looks gorgeous. You and my dad would have gotten along so well. He was a man who believed that if a job was worth doing it was worth doing right. You seem to be cut from the same cloth, which is a great thing. (Far too many people today do "just enough" to get them by.) Great video. /Michael
Impressive! If the weather is starting to cool down wherever you are, and you'd like a free vacation to sunny Arizona, we've got a place for you to stay and a job we need your expertise on! My father passed away 2 weeks ago, right before we were planning to start some flooring repairs in his Class A RV so he could put it on the market. He was, like you, able to literally do/fix anything. I just hope I absorbed enough of his genius to begin to tackle some of his unfinished projects. I enjoyed watching this video! Reminded me of Dad.
My condolences on your Dad. Yes. We're cooling down here in WA but are staying put given that we've been on the road 7 mo this year. Your Dad would probably be so impressed if you could tackle this project. The hardest part is really removing the old stuff and prepping the floor. Once you get to the flooring part, it goes quickly. Hopefully you can find a friend to help out. We have yet to tackle this project on our '03 Class A yet which still has carpet. Lots of other projects ahead of that one. Thanks for the offer. Good luck!
Great job ! Iv been in the hard surface flooring biz for 32 years, hey next to your shower cut the lock off the last piece, and put 3 or 4 pieces that would make up the drop a long the shower to the back wall ,spot supper glue them, then spot glue the main piece slide over the top tell it drops in and your all done! I did the same type of vinyl plank in my pusher the only way to go for RVs .and always work doors in 2 pieces, you might have some bulking around the door.
Great Work, I have done most of your upgrades as well, I saw this video watching your 7 best upgrades. We are huge boon-dockers here in Wyoming, we have a Work and play toy hauler. I have done Suspension upgrade to truck with Bill stein shocks, weight distribution hitch, 900 Watts of solar with Two 8D batteries, a transfer switch, 3500 watt inverter. I cant believe we have done so much of the same type of upgrades, The stinky slinky upgrade will be happening as well, the fence post painted black! Hidden underneath BRILLIANT! This video of your floor was awesome, I just started looking into doing it, i was Leary till i watched your video. I will be doing the entire floor now, instead of just the rear half! Awesome, Thanks so much.
The flooring looks fantastic!! Great job with those tricky spots. I bet the experts would not have done suck a good job on that bathroom entrance. That was the bomb 💣. Looks like a new. Paint 🎨 on walls looks great too. Very impressed....
You have every right to be proud, it looks fabulous !! WHY they would put carpet flooring in is a mystery to me when it collects and holds dirt no matter which environment you live or travel in. vinyl flooring is so much more practical! Thank you for sharing.
Great job on the flooring! I considered tackling the job in our 35' class A coach, but decided to have it done by a shop as we wanted all the vinyl and carpet removed throughout. Including the 3 slides. Should have it back next week, so I'll let you know how it turned out. We went with CoreTec One flooring.
Did you ever think of getting one of those adjusting shape his? You know, the ones that look like a bunch of form tones, you slide it against the item you are trying to last close to and then do the trace and cut...?
So glad I found your RUclips channel! I am planning to replace the floor in my Class C (after fixing some water damage), removing ALL of the carpet and linoleum. I went to Lowes, and found the flooring you used, in fact I am going to use the same exact color!!
Great Job - looks really good ! Lowes insisted on underlayment (thin foam) and expansion gaps along the (many) edges for my thin Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring (Shaw)... When I did mine, I used both. It is holding up great, with no buckling, summer or winter. I am using white 1/2 x 3/8 (2258) plastic quarter round from Lowes. Yes, gravity holds the floor in place... r
Great job and I like the way you showed and discussed how you over came some bumps in the road with the installation. I will be replacing my RV flooring after my repaint of the RV
Looks awesome! this is the video I have been waiting for. I need to replace my flooring, thanks to our local RV dealer damaging it with a warranty repair. I distrust them now, though they say they will "fix" the huge scratch in our floor, they have yet to tell me "how" they plan to "fix" it. So, new flooring is the way we are going. Thanks for this awesome video!
Tito: This video was both greatly helpful and inspiring. Nearing the end of my flooring diy project, and you could have said enough about that cut into the restroom area; 5th time is a charm; no kidding. Heads up; don’t try that cut when you’re bone tired!
Great installation job. My only concern is expansion... some of those cuts were very tight and in the heat of summer you will likely have some bulging where you left no room. I did a porch with those planks and on hot days the entire center of the floor would come up in the air. I had to disassemble everything and trim off about 1/4" on all outside pieces to fix the problem. The floor has lasted over four years now and still looks good as new.
That made such a big difference and the colors are great. We are planning this on our new to us class A we just bought as we plan a partial interior renovation.
nice job. I would add that it's prob best for anyone doing this that has a slideout, that the flooring be thin enough to not cause an issue when the slide comes in. I've seen folks try to put laminate or thicker LVP in, do the whole job and then the slide scratches or even pulls up the floor. Best to try a test piece laid on the floor before starting
Nicely done. After doing one such project, I wish I had used a thin foam underlayment. The free floating floor never sits completely flat on the subfloor. This means that we hear clicks as the flooring slaps down that fraction of an inch as we walk over it. I’m hoping that the foam underlayment will absorb the flex and sound.
Of course I had to see the completed flooring project as you hooked me with the earlier one. Very nice and though if we buy the class b tomorrow which is going on 23 years old American Cruiser 2000RE 1999 year. But suppose to have had most of the carpet replaced with similar vinyl planks but back end floor across from Bathroom has some spongy parts. Explains why it hasn't sold perhaps in the past 4 or so weeks and price dropped 5,000 too. They sent photos and overall looks good outside with little to no damage to the unit visually. But there is no longer steps and those would be on the end where the flooring has issues. So hubby thinks perhaps someone wrecked the steps by backing into something and it also caused some under flooring damage. Meantime seeing how a fridge vent might leak and that means other vents too..these A-cruisers have floor AC units that also have outside vents that you need to open during use it's another possible leak point of course. Also that end has the grey & black tanks too. All things helpful to know and I'm collecting as much info as possible. I'm in my 70's and though my husband of 50 years is extremely handy he's showing his age too. And it 's not his thing. I'm essentially buying an older RV to upgrade finally from tenting. However I loved tent camping and it's bitter sweet to think it's time to give it up. I don't want to buy an older unit with issues that we can't fix and fix well. Have had no luck finding one that's in top shape due to our rural location it's hard to get to one before it's snapped up as my narrowed down choices are also coveted my many others. Lots of competition for these smaller 21' and under Class B & B+'s. I know yours is a C but no doubt similar situations shared between B's and C's. Thanks again. I'm looking forward to watching your other RV DIY's.
Thanks for this awesome video man I'm pretty much a diy guy and just bought a fifth wheel with carpet.. I think it's time to update it with some wood vinyl floor! Giving me the courage to do this job on my own
Menards has an oscillating cutting tool for around $45 to cut trim and a whole lot of other stuff that if you do projects, you'll love. For the trim. Man i love that thing. But nice job
very helpful. I was particularly worried about the transition to the steps, and yours looks great, so I'll buy that piece while the flooring is in my cart so it'll match okay. I'm pretty confident that I, a single old lady, will be able to do this (no worse than replacing the rubber roof this month--definitely not as far to fall! lol)
Exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship. It only takes a small amount of extra effort to do a job right. Always surprised at the number of times speed over detail can totally change the outcome. Looking forward to your next installment and investment in your home away from home project. Well done Brian. Mike and Rosie, SHELTON, WA.
Watched the video this am,it was great.just watched it again with the wife. She absolutely loved it. Debating between a new Jayco 5th wheel upgrade or keeping our 34' keystone Outback. I'm thinking I have a flooring job in the near future.
I really wish I would’ve watched this video before I did the floors of my Coachhouse. I picked up a lot of useful information here which I could’ve used. My job turned out OK but it would’ve been a heck of a lot better if I would’ve watched this video first. Tito did it without the knee pads? Way to go. Great job.
Love the Behr Marquee Paint & Primer All In One! It truly is a One Coat Paint. And the Price is Great also. Nice work on the RV. We are remodeling our Class C and it’s a lot of work!! Especially when you need to take account all the weight your adding to the RV. We are trying to take out some of the heavy things that we know we will not use. I see so many of these RV Reno videos and people add heavy cabinetry large couches etc. Not a good idea!! One thing we wish is that they made RV’s more like a truck or Van. “ They are built with plywood and staples “. Why can’t they make them with a solid roof like a Van or Truck? They are definitely NOT MADE TO LAST!!
Brian great job as usual. Looks like the same stuff we used. Be advised that it is a floating floor and as such will be subjected to temperature and climate changes. Some of the seems will move a little and small cracks may show up. Not bad but you being the perfectionist you are you will see them.
I used the same material in my 5th wheel BUT did mine when the temperature in the High Desert was about 110 degrees killer hot. AND when winter came I saw the floor panels shrink, since you did it in the super cold I hope you do not see the floor panels buckle when in a hot climate. good luck
Tito, that's an awesome job, you should be very proud. You made it look so easy(I'm sure it's harder than it looked). I really like that angle finder you used, I've almost bought one several times but I am definantely going to get one now. Thanks for posting.
Wow, that doorway piece was impressive…. I’ve been wanting to do the same in the bedroom of my 5th wheel because it’s carpet and the stairs leading up and in are showing the wear from traffic. Problem is, the stairs present a rounded front so I’ll have to look for some vinyl planks like you got so they can conform to the radius. Yet another great video! Thx!
This video helped me out so much!! We are doing the same to our 27ft bumper pull, thank you so much! Helps tremendously!
You're very welcome! So glad to hear it helped you out.

Hehe. Sorry about that :)
I love the new flooring. It makes the RV look brand new. I love the different contrasts of light tone walls and darker tone floor.
Thanks. Yeah it's comin together.
Nice job. If you did not leave a little expansion room on the side to side for expansion you may get some buckles this summer.
I left a little gap, plus the side with the slide has plenty of room.

Glad it was helpful! Good luck with your project.
I have this exact flooring still in the box because I’m too scared to get started, but this video really made it look easy! Thank you!
Jacob Rodriguez Sams here lol
Very well done and a great choice. I need to do the same thing to my little trailer. I’ll check it out.
Good luck! It's been an excellent upgrade for us.
Sorry to hear that Wendy! Good luck with the new flooring!
Nice work on your doorway transition!
Tito: This video was both greatly helpful and inspiring. Nearing the end of my flooring diy project, and you could have said enough about that cut into the restroom area; 5th time is a charm; no kidding. Heads up; don’t try that cut when you’re bone tired!
So glad it was helpful. Nice to have extra flooring just in case :)
well done , the piece @8:00 u cut goin into bathroom area was great, and the door way @11:00 trim pieces, what a eye great match in color !!!
I also love the color on the trim. I wasn't sure if I'd find something to match.
Your new floor looks GREAT! You did a very good job. Congratulations on a brand new floor!
Woo hoo! We're very excited about it.
You make good videos. I watch a lot of videos, on a multitude of subjects, and some people have it, and others don't.
You have it.
Good luck.
I appreciate that! Thanks.
Will definitely be keeping my eye on it. Thanks!
That made such a big difference and the colors are great. We are planning this on our new to us class A we just bought as we plan a partial interior renovation.
Yeah. We really love the outcome. Best of luck with your renovation.
Sir, you are good !!!
I’m going to “ attempt “ to do this 🥴 I just hope mine turns out half as good as yours.
Thanks for the helpful video.
You can do it! Good luck.
I agree. Every slide out is different. Some even rely on the existing carpet to slide. Once removed, it may cause problems.
Flooring looks amazing - professional job indeed. Looks great.
Giving me the courage to do this job on my own
You won't regret it. The biggest issue most have is deciding how to do the floor under the slide. Every RV is a little different.
Great job Brian... some amazing tips as always in your videos. Love this cut under the door frame to slip the flooring under. Genius!!!
Thanks. Yeah that cut was a doozy.
About to replace ours in our fifth wheel. This was helpful information. Thanks.
Glad to help!
Great job again. Fun to watch you do reno.
Super, super work, Brian! Now you got me thinking...Safe travels, my friend!
Hmmmm...what to do?? :)
I'm pretty confident that I, a single old lady, will be able to do this (no worse than replacing the rubber roof this month--definitely not as far to fall! lol)
You're an inspiration to all of us. You got this!
Thanks in Shelton. Totally agree. Those details do make a big difference.
Another fine job! It does really transform the space.
Right!
Gives me hope that I can redo my floor.
Watched the video this am,it was great.just watched it again with the wife. She absolutely loved it.
Debating between a new Jayco 5th wheel upgrade or keeping our 34' keystone Outback. I'm thinking I have a flooring job in the near future.
Flooring looks great.👍
I really wish I would’ve watched this video before I did the floors of my Coachhouse. I picked up a lot of useful information here which I could’ve used. My job turned out OK but it would’ve been a heck of a lot better if I would’ve watched this video first. Tito did it without the knee pads? Way to go. Great job.
Thanks! Glad you picked up some useful info here....after the fact :)
Hey guys. Thanks. Time will tell.
Another great job. I like the fact that you show how you make some of those cute. What tools you use etc. Keep up the great work!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Still thinking about going with carpet for warmth but that looks real nice and easy to clean.
Much easier to clean. Plus you can always throw a rug over it.
Flooring looks amazing! your no amateur, now i have an idea about what im up against, thanks! 😊
Thanks. Good luck!
I used the same material in my 5th wheel BUT did mine when the temperature in the High Desert was about 110 degrees killer hot. AND when winter came I saw the floor panels shrink, since you did it in the super cold I hope you do not see the floor panels buckle when in a hot climate. good luck
Yikes. We'll see. It was cold outside but I kept it warm in there while I was staging the flooring and while installing.
Last year I redid the floor in our RV much like what you did. It was so worth it. Great video!!
This was beautifully done. I would say you’ve done a little of this before.
Really great job we’re going to install carpet in our RV and you just made up my mind on what kind to use thx
Thank you for sharing, the flooring turn out beautiful. Can’t wait to see when your done with all of the renovations 😎
Glad you liked it. I'm now sure when it will end :)
that is beautiful! well done!!!! Definitely using your video to redo my own! such great ideas and well thought out! 👍
Tito, that's an awesome job, you should be very proud. You made it look so easy(I'm sure it's harder than it looked). I really like that angle finder you used, I've almost bought one several times but I am definantely going to get one now. Thanks for posting.
I don't use it much, but it does come in handy when I need it.
What a professional job - looks great!!
Thanks!
Thx!
Glad you enjoyed it.
impressive, I was going to have a pro do this for me after my floor repair but watching your video, I think Im going to give it a go. Thanks a bunch
Glad to show you what's possible. Planning it out is harder than laying the planks. Good luck!
Excellent job. You’ve made my mind up for me. I’m replacing ours as well. Thanks
Sweet! Good luck with the project.
Looks Great!! Love it! Completely worth it! Thanks
Yes. It was totally worth it.
Looks really good! Nice work. I’m about to start mine now 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Good luck witht the project.
Great video I’m tackling the same thing your video will be a great help. Love your beautiful new flooring
Thanks! Best of luck with your project. You'll love the outcome.
Really nice job Brian. It looks great after you were done and you should be proud of your results.
