Would you mind posting a video of the slide operating? My husband and I are wanting to replace the gross carpet in our camper with some type of vinyl flooring but are concerned about the slide movement. Thanks for the video!
Did you consider butting the first vinyl plank in the slideout area up against the existing black transition piece? The wider exposed piece might not have been objectionable, and that would have both protected the plank edge and made the transition a bit more level. Would like to see the slide-out operated in and out too. I'm getting ready to do the same project. Thanks for the tips!
Looking forward to seeing when it all get done. You have a lot of work cut for you. But it looks very nice. I have faith you can get the Rv done in time to go camping. Looking forward to seeing next video. Sherri
How do you trim the exposed edge of the woven poly vinyl? Also, have you replaced the carpeting around the appliances? Same side as our dinette…thank you.
What thickness of vinyl plank did you use. We are planning to redo our trailer floor but I am nervous about the floor that the slide goes over. And with the interlocking planks getting caught or scratched when the slide comes in, did you all do any adhesive on that section of your floors?
@Family Fulfillment Project Your floor looks great! Happy New Year btw (2024). I need to change out my flooring in my RV, I just hate my carpet. I want to change it to the tongue and groove floor panel (like you have). Although, I have heard that this style is not stable. When the RV is moving, some of the panels may move or get displaced. Have you encountered that problem? One more thing, what thickness is your flooring? When the slide comes in and out and the flooring is too thick, it will scratch the new floor and make groves into it. Any input would be much appreciated. .... Rick
Omg measure your area do some simple math and you wont end anywhere with a thin strip. No matter where you start. You dont have to start with a full board width or length. You never start off in open area you must be against a wall with sapcers to install without shifting floor. Use a 2 inch vinyl reducer or t molding for flush slide. When the slide is open it will sit flush and when closed its reducer shape will sit nice. Look into flooring trasintions not just vinly plank transitions. You dont need that chopper. Mark board put a square on it. Score it with a utility knife and snap it. And most importantly great job guys ive been doing flooring for 30 years and you really did do a great job with your rv. They are not easy.

So it has been about 18 months since you did this project. How is the front edge of the plank holding up? Have you had any issues with it? After watching this video I just did mine (1/7/22) the exact same way and have the exact same issue and was wondering how it has held up.
@Family Fulfillment Project The floors look freaking GREAT! Great job! Now that you've had the flooring for 3 years, I wanted to know how the floor is holding up. Like you, I have been doing alot of research on RUclips and most of the videos are recently posted (less than 1 year). When you take your RV out, does the planks shift or do the planks come apart or break while driving when transporting the RV? I have a 2019 Jayco with carpet/vinyl and want to change it to vinyl planks. What thickness are the planks?
Hey! So we traveled across the country In it and zero moving. Some people we know bought the RV (when we sold last year) and it’s still holding fast! Zero movement 👏 I don’t remember the width size of the planks.
I am not an expert, and I've never done this, but I have an idea to cover up the edge of the slide. I wonder if you could use a heat gun to soften the laminate floor enough to bend it over the edge? If it works it would look great. I know it's too late for you, at least this time, but it might help someone else out.
Did you consider the "peel and stick" flooring at all ?? I have read some complaints about the gaps opening up on floating floors when the temperatures vary between summer and winter. Have you experienced that with your floating floor ??
Looking good! Cant wait to see the finished product! Not sure if it was just my phone or what but your little 'Fulfillment' logo on the corner was missing the "t". Just thought you'd know it case you forgot it!
Love the remodel. I have purchased a 2006 Fleetwood and also want to remove the carpet and install the same flooring that you did. My quest is have you noticed any scratch or rub marks on the floor from the slide? Also, how did you attach the flooring under the slide?
Okkkkkk so some scratch makes but only if we don’t sweep properly and a little stone gets under there. The scratch isn’t noticeable unless you’re down cleaning it. Start your floor under the slide and you shouldn’t have to attach it, that was our mistake.
has anyone tried felt furniture pads on the bolts on the piece that moves the slide out? the shoe thingy that now have felt in newer ones me thinks...haven't tried
I have concerns about vinyl plank flooring in an rv. It's not designed to use in extreme temperatures due to expansion and contraction. Most manufacturers state on the box not for rv use.numerous people have ignored that and after a year or two are seeing their flooring project open up and buckle. There is vinyl flooring suitable for rv use and homes that are in extreme temps and not heated or cooled like vacation cabins. it resist shrinking expansion and cracking. Most rv manufactures either use that or sheet vinyl which is more dimensionally stable.there are also commercial peel and stick glue down commercial grade tiles. Most RV and campers see temperature ranges from below freezing to 130f they are not kept at a constant temperature like your home especially when stored. If you go this route and use vinyl planking install in cool temps like 50 -60f and leave 1/2" all around for expansion.
I realize that this is an older vid but, I'll bet the slide scratched the new flooring when retracted. The Author of the video only did half of the flooring work by not telling or demonstrating the replacement of the "glide shoe" which is mounted on the bottom of the slide and is scratching the flooring. When changing from original carpet to vinyl or laminate, you have to remove the plastic and metal "shoe" and replace it with a carpeted one to center the slide and prevent scratches.
Nice job. I missed this video before I replaced my RV carpeting with vinyl plank, but I managed to muddle along. I really didn't want to totally empty off the slide, so I left that carpeted, but it turned out that taking out the dinette did make it easier to place the main floor beneath. Not exactly easy, but better than paying thousands to have someone else do it. It does make a big difference in a 20 year old Winnebago. If you will allow, I have my video posted here: ruclips.net/video/NA6cwnNIjow/видео.html

How did you get it to stay in place? Will it slide around? Sorry but new to this.
Dang. I wanted to see it actually slide in.

Fingers crossed!
DIY Mommy just got done with her flooring. You will love her
We will check her out!

Great tips. Love the advise of starting at the slide.
Good Morning. How has the floor worked out and would you do it again. Jack
When slide is in what keeps the edge this enough not yo break when stepped on?

Did you ever find answers to this question?
Did you have any issues with the slide coming over the main floor when using this install of plank wood flooring?
Approximately how many vinyl planks did you use in your rv? I have a 35’ with three slides… I want to replace all of the carpet 😅
Looks SO good!!!! Obsessed with the flooring and shiplap wallpaper! ❤️🙌🏼
Yay! Thank you!

A set of slide ski's will help with this while protecting the sub floor ends from wicking moisture.
Looks great! Can’t wait to see it all finished.
Thank you!
Excellent job

They sold this camper shortly after the remodel. Bought a class a and then moved to Texas.
Does it affect the slide out
Wait u used the wood flooring I was told the slide out will have issues going back in with that type
Was there a strip of plastic on the main floor where the slide came over? And did you remove it? July 28 @ 4 pm
How did you fasten the plank on the inside edge of the slide?
Is this vinyl loose or glued to the floor? Is glue strip flooring a good option. At vinyl store they have a large assortment of different vinyl
How much weight did it add after installing that

Very handsome!!!

AWESOME JOB BRO.....
Thank you so much bro!
Did you consider the "peel and stick" flooring at all ?? I have read some complaints about the gaps opening up on floating floors when the temperatures vary between summer and winter. Have you experienced that with your floating floor ??
Hey! This is the second floating floor we have done and haven't experienced any splitting after driving across the country.
Love your videos! You are such a blessed family
Thank you so much!

haha I noticed that too, not sure why. That T just didn't want to show up I guess 💁🏼♀️🤯
Where did you get the vinyl you are using in this video?
How do you fasten to floor, is it self adhesive?
what keeps it from sliding out of the slide out???
Why didn't you stagger the joints from slider to floor ? looks weird color and joint wise.
Thank you for this video! I'm buying my first trailer and beyond excited! What's the pricing difference between cheap carpet and this vinyl?
How does vinyl plank adhere to the wood ?

Any issues with the joints popping out while the RV is in motion?
Zero issues 👏
If you don’t have the vinyl cutter you can use a right angle, box cutter and just cut and snap
What about rvs without a slide?
use metal ceramic edging
Looks great😁 I want our Motorhome done 🤔 anytime your free I will have things ready🤣 I'm really serious 😳....lol💓
I'll ad it to Ben's 'to do' list 👌
NEXT -after you do Robins I’d like mine done-Great Job🏁
Ben will get right on that. 😳😁
LOL- Love your family, and your family who loves our lord-and can’t wait on your next adventure.
Where is that mountain spot in your intro?
Banff national park❤️

what holds the flooring in place?
It's just click together vinyl. We don't glue the floor and it's held up 3,000plus miles with zero issues.
ON THE SLIDE IF THE FLOORING IS JUST FLOATING CANT IT JUST MOVE AND COMPLETELY FALL OFF THE SLIDES EDGE??
Drove across the country and it's held up perfectly 🙌
will dirt get into that unfinished crack?
We're planning on filling it 👍

My slide has soft rubber-like rollers not shoes. I haven't decided if I will use vinyl or not yet.
You "feel pretty good about the edges" ??? Looks pretty poor to me and I can envision a number of ongoing issues.
Has worked great for 3plus years!
