Thanks Susie! Yes, we are so fortunate to know you! 😂 That’s the problem with time lapse, can’t edit out my slacking. Of course, if you watch again, you’ll see Ann staring at her phone quite often when I’m outside working. 🤣
Thanks Christina! 😉 Pretty simple actually. No glue or staples, just put the material in place and the furniture holds it to the subfloor as all furniture is secured down with screws.
RV Outlets have that same garbage style wiring. I’ve been changing them out for residential. I’d change that cheap connection. Maybe a shallow j box and some wago connectors. Where did you purchase the carpet. I need to change mine out.
We ordered ours through our RV dealer in Palm Desert, CA for $300 (including shipping &tax). Because the the newer model of our camper has this same material, we were able to get ours cut to the exact size & have the edge bound at the factory. You can however get this same material from Trekwood RV Parts & Supply online. When you order from Trekwood, you would order the size you need and then you would need to take it to an upholstery shop to bind the edge unless you know how to do that. I know Hobby Lobby sells binding material and other people have used industrial hot glue to adhere it to the edge, however, I've never tried that and I think I would prefer to have it sewn on. Here'a a link to the same material that we installed that's on Trekwood's website. www.trekwood.com/products/1472514/S-O-Carpet-48-x-186-JubilationSoulfulGrey-Yukon They do have other size (and maybe other color) options available. You may want to call them as their website isn't very easy to search and navigate. I used the keyword "jubilation" to search their site as that is the color that we have. Type that keyword in and click through the pages to find other size options. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
Hey Don. We do still have carpet in the bedroom and will be replacing that as well with the woven vinyl. We’ll be doing a video on that to show the process. ✌🏻

Also, not much floor prep. There was a thin piece of reflective insulation that was under the carpet. We did remove a ton of carpet staples though and then just cut and placed the new material. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
Just curious how you attached the new vinyl flooring to the slide. It doesn't look like you stapled it in the video but it was moving so fast maybe I missed it?
Hello! Because we reinstalled the booth seating on top of the flooring, we only had to secure it in the corner behind the reclining chairs. I just used one small screw that wouldn’t be seen in the corner behind the chairs and our chairs are also secured to the floor with screws. So it is essentially all secured by the furniture. If you have a different setup, then I would recommend small staples or maybe even flooring glue or adhesive made for that application ran along the wall edges. Hope that helps!
Just found this video and love your upgrade. The floor on our slide is linoleum, but it curls and I hate it. This looks like a solution for us. I did not see you activate the slide so I’m wondering if you ran into any problems. It looks like a flush slide which is what we have. Also, was it custom made for your slideout?
Yes, we love it too! No problem at all when moving the slide. It works perfectly and stays flat. It was custom made for our make and model camper. We ordered ours through our RV dealer in Palm Desert, CA for $300 (including shipping &tax). We saw this flooring in a friend’s RV and really liked the look of it plus we were able to order it with the edging already installed which made installation easy. The material also is very flexible so it transitions well over the slide edge.
Hi Nick, we ordered ours through our RV dealer in Palm Desert, CA. LOL.. what are the odds? I got rid of my expensive, 5th-wheel toy hauler ($750 mo pmt), and bought a 2013 KZ bumper-pull toy hauler for $7k cash ! Has that nasty, 11 year-old carpet that needs to come out ! How has this woven vinyl held up so far ? ( and good to see you guys.. albeit on video!)
Hey Ron! Hope you’re doing well! Ya, this material has been fantastic and is still holding up great. We got ours from an RV dealer, however, I’ve been told by others that they’ve had a tough time going that route. You may be better off getting it from a marine material supplier as they also use this on boats. Good luck with your project!

@sjackson99 It is waterproof. We did a test letting a puddle of water sit on it for about 20 minutes and it didn’t seep through. The backing is a soft cloth like material (shown in the opening of the video), however, there must be a waterproof layer behind it that can’t be seen.

Who is your RV dealer in Palm Desert, CA? I tried to order from Trekwood RV Parts & Supply online, however, because the vinyl carpet comes directly from the Keystone dealer, they will not sell it unless you have a Keystone Vin #.

I would guess there were at least 150-200 staples. We did not try to use the same holes for the furniture, however, we did mark the wall with pencil where the dinette was against it so that we knew where to place it when reinstalling.

Why not just replace with a vinyl tile or linoleum…? Seems like this will just get dirty like carpet and trap dirt and dander underneath. I’m genuinely curious? 🤔
It was way easier to install this. Especially since I was able to get it with the factory edging. And it doesn’t trap the dirt underneath due to the solid (cloth) backing. It is also very easy to keep clean. We just vacuum it with our cordless Dyson vac on a regular basis and then wash it periodically with some mild detergent and water. Been a year and a half now and we still love it!

We decided not to use any staples as the furniture was holding it down to the subfloor. All furniture is screwed down including the reclining chairs. We did put one screw with washer in the back left corner behind the recliners. Other than that the material is loose, but, doesn’t move around at all.
Is your slide floor flush with the main floor? Mine is not and I need something that will lay down nicely over the "lip" so to speak. My slide is about 1/4 inch higher that the main floor.
The area under the booth seating is held down by the furniture that is screwed into the floor. We only put one screw (with a washer) in the back left corner behind the seats just to hold that in place until the recliners were reinstalled. The recliners are then secured to the slide floor with screws from underneath and that holds the flooring in place for that section. If your setup is different, I would recommend using small staples along the side and rear perimeter or you may want to glue it down along the edges and leave the remaining “floating”. We ordered ours through our RV dealer in Palm Desert, CA for $300 (including shipping &tax). Because the the newer model of our camper has this same material, we were able to get ours cut to the exact size & have the edge bound at the factory. @@EddieAtLarge thank you so much for your response. I will definitely call them once I’m in Florida. I like how yours looks. It looks like you also had some under padding?
We did have some very thin insulation material under the carpet that we left in place. You’re gonna love the change. We are still very happy with ours. So easy to clean and maintain!

I have been watching this product for awhile and want to install in my Tiffin 36la rig. Many different manufacturers of material. What brand is yours and color? May I ask cost for material? I want to also do cab which has doghouse engine cover. If I could find a place to have edging and right size, would buy in a heartbeat. Great video guys.

Looks spectacular! Aren't you glad you met us! Poor Ann - has to do all the clean-up!
Thanks Susie! Yes, we are so fortunate to know you! 😂 That’s the problem with time lapse, can’t edit out my slacking. Of course, if you watch again, you’ll see Ann staring at her phone quite often when I’m outside working. 🤣
@@EddieAtLarge She might be looking at other RUclipss to tell you what to do! LOL
You know, she was getting a little bossy that day. 😛
Congratulations guys. Beautiful job! Thanks for sharing! Stay healthy!
Thanks Jon! Hope you’re doing well!
Well. I saw the take out, measure and put in, still have no idea how it was actually installed. Looks good though!
Thanks Christina! 😉 Pretty simple actually. No glue or staples, just put the material in place and the furniture holds it to the subfloor as all furniture is secured down with screws.
Love it looking for flooring for grand design solitude
It has awesome. I think you'll be happy with it as well. Have fun on your project!
RV Outlets have that same garbage style wiring. I’ve been changing them out for residential. I’d change that cheap connection. Maybe a shallow j box and some wago connectors. Where did you purchase the carpet. I need to change mine out.

We need to do this in our fifth wheel. Did you guys have carpet in your bedroom too? Would like to see your process on that. Thanks!
Hey Don. We do still have carpet in the bedroom and will be replacing that as well with the woven vinyl. We’ll be doing a video on that to show the process. ✌🏻
Where did you get it from, how much a yard, did you use adhesive and finally did you have to prep the base? Thanks

We did not use any adhesive as the furniture that sits on top all gets screwed to the floor and holds it in place.
Thank you for clarifying! I appreciate it!@@EddieAtLarge
Looks good but wondering why you wouldn't finish it with the same flooring you have on the rest of the coach?
We saw this flooring in a friend’s RV and really liked the look of it plus we were able to order it with the edging already installed which made installation easy. The material also is very flexible so it transitions well over the slide edge.
Amazing!!! I am so going to contact our RV dealer!!! Great job!
Thank you Loren! This flooring has been so great. You’re gonna love it!
Where did you get it from?
Hi Nick, we ordered ours through our RV dealer in Palm Desert, CA. We were able to get ours cut to the exact size & have the edge bound being that the newer model of our camper has this same material. How did you secure the carpet once you got it cut and in place?
The area under the booth seating is held down by the furniture that is screwed into the floor. We only put one screw (with a washer) in the back left corner behind the seats just to hold that in place until the recliners were reinstalled. The recliners are then secured to the slide floor with screws from underneath and that holds the flooring in place for that section. If your setup is different, I would recommend using small staples along the side and rear perimeter or you may want to glue it down along the edges and leave the remaining “floating”
LOL.. what are the odds? I got rid of my expensive, 5th-wheel toy hauler ($750 mo pmt), and bought a 2013 KZ bumper-pull toy hauler for $7k cash ! Has that nasty, 11 year-old carpet that needs to come out ! How has this woven vinyl held up so far ? ( and good to see you guys.. albeit on video!)
It's marine vinyl! That stuff rocks
Hey Ron! Hope you’re doing well! Ya, this material has been fantastic and is still holding up great. We got ours from an RV dealer, however, I’ve been told by others that they’ve had a tough time going that route. You may be better off getting it from a marine material supplier as they also use this on boats. Good luck with your project!
What brand did ot company fid you buy from?
Great look! Where did you buy the vinyl flooring for the slide? Thanks, Brian

Does the new stuff have a waterproof backing on it?
@sjackson99 It is waterproof. We did a test letting a puddle of water sit on it for about 20 minutes and it didn’t seep through. The backing is a soft cloth like material (shown in the opening of the video), however, there must be a waterproof layer behind it that can’t be seen.
Did the new flooring already have the edging on it and where did you get the flooring?

Was that cubicle wiring?
Hmmm. I’m unsure as I’m not familiar with cubicle wiring. I believe it was standard 14/2 wire just a different outlet made for the shallow RV walls.
Do you know where I can find this product? I keep looking I can’t find it. I would really appreciate your help. You did a great job.

Who is your RV dealer in Palm Desert, CA? I tried to order from Trekwood RV Parts & Supply online, however, because the vinyl carpet comes directly from the Keystone dealer, they will not sell it unless you have a Keystone Vin #.

Looks great and done correctly
Thanks TJ!!
@EddieAtLarge absolutely I'll have to look at more of your rv how to videos as I will be hopefully getting a camper this spring
Roughly how many staples were in the old carpet? And did you try to use the same spots for the furniture, meaning did you try to use the same holes?
I would guess there were at least 150-200 staples. We did not try to use the same holes for the furniture, however, we did mark the wall with pencil where the dinette was against it so that we knew where to place it when reinstalling.
where is the woven vinyl replacement available ? what sizes is it available in ? thanks !!!

No issues! Still love this material!! 👍🏻

I know Hobby Lobby sells binding material and other people have used industrial hot glue to adhere it to the edge, however, I've never tried that and I think I would prefer to have it sewn on.

Did you use staples? Glue? I didn’t catch that on the video.
Ours is not flush either. This material lays down and transitions very well.
Did you glue down. And how did you get edge sewon?
The area under the booth seating is held down by the furniture that is screwed into the floor. We only put one screw (with a washer) in the back left corner behind the seats just to hold that in place until the recliners were reinstalled. The recliners are then secured to the slide floor with screws from underneath and that holds the flooring in place for that section. If your setup is different, I would recommend using small staples along the side and rear perimeter or you may want to glue it down along the edges and leave the remaining “floating”.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
