I worked at a hospital in a unit where patients were coming in on a regular basis. Some of the patients wanted to bring something to share with the staff. One of our patients was a very kind and deeply religious Jewish lady. One day she brought in a large platter of latke’s (potato pancakes). They were delicious and they were just like my mother’s. I told her this She was very surprised that we cooked these because she knew we were not Jewish ( we are Southern Baptist). This is something that goes back many, many years. Probably as far back as the existence of potatoes. I love your recipes, and the way explain how to make the recipes. I especially love the faith messages you always include in your programs.
I'm Polish and we were all talking about the weekends when my Dad would make potato pancakes for breakfast. So, I made Dad's Polish potato pancakes for dinner the other night. Was my comfort food that night thinking of my Dad.
@@carolsyman5868, my German Pop told my English grandmother when they married that he didn't care what she cooked, but he did want potatoes at every meal. My Grandma could cook and we all cook just like her. I miss my family, but have wonderful memories of us cooking together.
I'm 65, my mom used to make these when I was a kid, love them, eat them with applesauce, imagine this is a ol recipe, she used to make bread pudding also, which is good also.
My family loves potato cakes! My husband said when he was little they ate the left over potato cakes with jelly for dessert. He still does! Love your recipes and your devotionals. God is good!
at 26:10 I just cracked up. "She devoured them all and only left me two plain cakes" 😕 So funny. Great ideas to stretch left over potatoes. Thanks for the post. I love the Lord too!!! He is SO good!
I'm 32, my father is 70, he used to make these for me as a kid, 20 plus years ago, like his grandmother made for him. She was born in 1901, married and a mother of 2 toddlers when the Great Depression hit in the Pocono Mountains. Thanks for taking me back. Sending him this video as well. God bless.
Becky, I am 80 years old and an old country boy with 10 siblings, most with long lives, raised on such. We never went hungry but were very poor by today's standards. I appreciate your religious views and ask that you would pray for our country at this time, that we would elect leaders who are religious that practice what they preach. God definitely loves us, and we must show our fellowman the same even though they may be different as your beautiful potato cakes. I am deeply worried for our country so I'll pray as I try your salmon and potato cakes this week not for them to be good, but for our country.
🎆 ~ 🌞 James ~ What a beautiful comm - you were so sweet toward our lovely sister in Christ & our country - my sentiments exactly with everything you said!!! 💝 Luv how she uses her cooking platform to inspire Christians, & to minister to those who aren't ... but WILL become Christians - all over the world!!! :) Have a wonderful day, James - your comm was needed by many - thank you for touching all of our hearts!!! 🙏🙏🙏 🇺🇸 ~ 🎆 Sprinkling ✝️ Blessings ❤
I appreciate your sentiments entirely, and also ask a favor. Please also pray for my brothers and sisters who have been held hostage by Hamas for now over 6 months. While most are Israeli - Jewish, Christian, and Muslim, some are of various nationalities, still all of the hostages kept against their will from their families are our brothers and sisters (and children) in humanity. 🙏🏼 May they all be released in life and unharmed as soon as possible. All prayers are welcomed.

My grandmother lived through the depression but her potato pancakes never did anything but satisfy her family. I make these anytime I have leftover mashed potatoes and my grandkids love them. I love your videos and heart for the Lord. What a unique way to serve Him. May God richly bless the work of your hands!
If i run out of fresh potatoes, i've even made them with dry, instant potatoes out of the box. They're good too! Just make sure you don't get too much liquid in them, in order to fry up good!
@Veritas vos liberabit make some buttermilk biscuits and mashed potatoes for your husband. Cut through the middle of a biscuit.... spread butter on it then add the hot mashed potatoes. He'll probably love it. My cousin taught me about mashed potato and biscuits when I was 8 years old. Now I'm 73 and it's still one of my favorite foods.

Really enjoyed your potato patties, I only made them very plain now you have taught me to put just about any kind of veggie I want in them or small pieces of meat!! And I am 68 years old still learning! God bless you!!!😋
Oh sweetie , we are the same age & my grandmama would put almost anything in them to stretch them so we all had enough for breakfast & make gravy to go on them . They were usually left over from last night's dinner meal . She never let anything go to waste . We also had " Johnny cakes " ie cornbread pancakes .
We always called them potater pancakes. We are from Blytheville Arkansas, and everything had an ER on the end of most words like yeller, winder, and potater. I can't think of all the words. I had to go to speech therapy when I moved to Chicago from Arkansas. I loved these potater pancakes, especially if my mom had the money to buy sour cream and or applesauce to go with them they were really good.
@@wittnessbe_judged8723 I understand the speech therapy thing . Happened to my 2 siblings & I when my bio mother kidnapped us & took us back to TX after growing up with my grandparents . My 3 grandmamas were very kowledgeable & made almost all our toppings for things . My favorite was the blackberry jam on everything as a kid . It always made certain leftovers much better the next day for breakfast .

I "discovered" this channel and this kind lady this morning and I've been watching several of her videos. Not only are the recipes, her delivery and demeanor just like I was raised in (miss you Mama RIP 1992), but I know now I was led to find her this morning. I've been having a really hard time lately and most all of my relatives are gone now, so short of my great wife, I've been left to my own devices to work out of things. I'm a believer and I pray a lot, but I do suffer from the belief that "I ain't nobody" and that God probably don't think much of me and therefore wouldn't spend any time helping me. In other words, I needed to find this channel and hear some of what she's got to say - because she's right. THANK YOU for what you're doing here, both with the wonderful recipes and with the sharing of the Word. It means more than you realize! -Ed on the Ridge

I agree completely! How do people get by these days without our Heavenly FatherWhere are you? Just yesterday I had lost a simple household article (my computer cord) but I really needed it! I said a grateful prayer and asked humbly, in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, that he would help me find the article I had misplaced. If I were on a farm a hundred years ago, I might be praying for a sick cow, you know? But I found that article I had been searching for FOR DAYS. All things are possible with God, even little things. I love your recipes and, as usual, yours is the best from the ones I looked at. You impart wisdom throughout! I just love them! I’m from Southern Alabama and your accent makes me trust you even more!! LOL. Blessings to you, Sister.

I am more partial to fried okra and squash than green matters. But I also love tater cakes. A side benefit of making too many mashed taters and applying the waste not want not principle.

I'm 66 years old. When I was growing up we called them potato pancakes. God is good all the time. All the time God is good. I give God all of the Praise and Glory. Yes, in particular when He has written it in His Word. The most neglected and the most needed book of our time until we see Jesus coming for us in the clouds very soon! Many don't know what the LORD has said to do, but they would follow it if they knew, we need to, now is the time to find out. May we all become Bible students right now. Be blessed.
Hi I've been eating(making) potato pancakes since I was 5. I'm 70 now. I like mine with scrambled eggs and bacon on the side, or sour cream. I often make Tater Cakes in the morning for breakfast. I eat eggs with everything that normally uses bread as a side. I eat eggs with pancakes, waffles, and tater cakes. I use pancakes or waffles like my toast at breakfast. Please keep up these videos. These are foods that I grew up with, even though I'm a Yankee. My great grand parents were Pennsylvania Dutch and a lot of your recipes were foods that they cooked and ate, so I'm familiar with them. May the Lord bless you and your food ministry. It's great to see good Christian values put on display in a world of sin where everything is sex, drugs, and crime. Thank you again. I'm praying for you, your family, and your eyes. How is that eye situation going? God bless: Stoney

Lordy, does this bring back some great memories. My mom made these when we were growing up and I loved them and still do. Growing up back in the hills folks didn't throw away anything and they stretched what they had. It always amazed me how mom could take a few ingredients and make a family meal out of them. My granny did the same thing. Thanks so much for this video. God bless you and your family. Love this channel!
Irish viewer here. We make Potato Bread - same recipe, but a much stiffer doughy mixture which is rolled out and cut into triangles which are then shallow fried in oil. You fry it with the soda farls and serve with egg, bacon, sausage, and fried tomato - that's an Ulster fry! The Appalachians were settled by the Ulster Scots, which accounts for similar foods, bluegrass music and blood feuds LOL! And religion, it looks like ... Potato Bread is hundreds of years old. When the Potato Famine struck, soda bread became more popular. In the south of Ireland, Potato Bread is known as Boxty.
Oh Becky!! I'm so happy for You!! God knows what we each need and he fills our life with it. We all Love you and family and we are being blessed as we watch your video and hear the word of our Lord. Please know that you are still in our Prayers. God's blessing to you and the family

I appreciate your christian values. Thank you. I make mine like my momma did. Leftovers mashed taters have to be cold, self rising flour, salt, pepper, and chopped onions, chopped dried onions, that's it. We don't ever put anything else in them. Fry them in a skillet of hot grease or cooking oil, make sure they're golden brown on both sides. Eat immediately because they taste best while hot. I appreciate as much hearing you speak of Christ and the scriptures. May God bless you for your efforts.❤
I'm so pleased to see that there are so many out there who love The Lord! But please bear in mind that He started only one religion; just one, and He named His first Pope to be its head, St. Peter. For the first 1500 years or so, this was the only way to worship The One True God, the way He wants to be worshipped. Then, the divisions began, with Henry VIII, of England, Martin Luther, of Germany, etc., Therefore, even if nobody ever told you this before, it is true, nonetheless, that the Catholic Church is the only way to salvation. Please check out the following website for further explanation. Thank you. www.vaticancatholic.com

@@vincentperratore4395 no one come to the Lord but by me said Jesus. If you have a relationship with Jesus and God you can go to heaven. Now Jesus is not going to let someone baptize him that was not holy and a follower.

Thank you for sharing this. It brings back memories of my granny. And how she could feed a whole family with next to nothing. And it tasted so good.

It always made certain leftovers much better the next day for breakfast .

Hi
I've been eating(making) potato pancakes since I was 5.

I was raised on tater cakes and my mamaw called them “Arsh taters” also. Lol. I’ve been binge watching all of your videos this Memorial weekend. You and Brett keep doing what your called to do so that we can enjoy your wonderful channel. You cook and speak from the heart and it shows. This Kentucky gal appreciates you! 🇺🇸
My grandma called them “Arsh” potatoes too. I have since found out that means Irish potatoes! Lol. Just add southern accent.
🤣 ❤💛💙
@@T_Barb oh my goodness that is too funny!!! I was trying to figure out what "arsh" would be 🤣💛 Can't wait to tell my husband... that's adorable!!
I’m watching you right now and must say that hearing you talk about God in the middle of your cooking was wonderful to hear . God Bless You. I’m telling everyone I know about you. Amen 🙏🏻😇
Thank you for sharing not only your great recipes, but what God has done and is doing for you! I am living proof that God is alive and cares. God bless you richly ❤️

Glory to God for blessing your channel! May many be drawn to His love and goodness. Life eternal is found in Jesus!
Thank you so much for these down home recipes. I remember many of them when growing up. Also Becky, thank you for taking a stand for truth not just from the Word of God but for the patriotic support of our Republic. God bless you and Bret for your courage and hard work.
Would love a copy the more they hide
the more many of us want to see
I appreciate your christian values.
My momma always called them - fried tader biscuits. She was born and raised in Tennessee as well as her people.
Love your cooking channel and I enjoy watching your videos. I appreciate as much hearing you speak of Christ and the scriptures. May God bless you for your efforts.❤
Just found your channel,God is great! At this trying time we need him so very much!
I love these! My mom used to make these-she lived thru the depression and knows about stretching food.
Oh sister! Lord bless you for sharing His Word! May God continue to bless you!
I'm so pleased to see that there are so many out there who love The Lord!
But please bear in mind that He started only one religion; just one, and He named His first Pope to be its head, St. Peter.
For the first 1500 years or so, this was the only way to worship The One True God, the way He wants to be worshipped.
Then, the divisions began, with Henry VIII, of England, Martin Luther, of Germany, etc.,
Therefore, even if nobody ever told you this before, it is true, nonetheless, that the Catholic Church is the only way to salvation.

@@vincentperratore4395 to say that catholics is the only way to the heaven is so wrong. If you are saved and baptized and you read the Bible and follow the Lord you can go to heaven.
@@vincentperratore4395 excuse me it is a out a relationship personally with Him, not a church of any kind or someone who takes the credit for anything that He has done, that got satan kicked out of Heaven I pray that God truly opens your spiritual eyes and ears and that He gives you a understanding and knowledge able Spirit, in Jesus mighty name, Jesus is the only way to truth life and the Father, God the real one who created us all, ess you.
@@vincentperratore4395 no one come to the Lord but by me said Jesus. If you have a relationship with Jesus and God you can go to heaven. You don't have to be Catholic to have a relationship with Jesus. Also Jesus was a Jew and don't forget about John the Baptist who baptized Jesus himself. Now Jesus is not going to let someone baptize him that was not holy and a follower.
My heritage is from Ireland. Back in 1812 many of my family came either to Canada or New England states. This recipe came with them along with others that I've tweeked to fit our family. I love the way you introduce your faith in your videos. My great-grandfather was a traveling minister from Michigan and went to St. Louis, I'll., Indiana and Ohio to speak of our Lord Jesus Christ to thousands. He taught my father the most about Revelations. My dad got me interested in studying revelations since I was 16. I am now 61 and I'm sharing my learnings with my adult children who grasp their heritage with open arms. God bless you and all who watch your videos.
Yes our God is awesome! I'm am here today only because of him! He loves us.. all of us. And we need God more now than ever!🥰🙏

God bless you and your family!
Thank you for sharing this. It brings back memories of my granny. And how she could feed a whole family with next to nothing. And it tasted so good. As kids we didn’t know they were poor, we thought everyone ate this way. Johnny cakes with field peas and snaps cooked with bacon grease….. oh my god I could eat that all day long. Home made biscuits with honey to sop! Delicious! She would ask, you want some blueberry cobbler? And I would say yes! She would hand me a bowl, and say go pick them, and I will make it. Nothing like fresh blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream! I sure do miss my granny. Country folks can survive, and make the most of what they have. God bless you for sharing what you have learned over the years.
Love that you are using this platform to glorify the Lord :)
