Enjoy this episode, because it's probably the last Lego Rewind of the year (unless someone buys episode on Patreon). I have 3 Monkie Kid Megareviews to churn out, and the first one took forever to edit, so yeah. The next time you see Lego Rewind will probably be the 2021-in-review special. Let's play a game in the meantime, why don't we? Try to guess what other Ultra Agents villains were in their normal lives? Like maybe Tremor was a pianist? I'll include the best answers in the 2021 special.
I thought Lego Rewind was over? :o
@@comradedyatlov199 It was. then I felt like doing more. Check out the 2020-in-review special, it explains everything.
I feel like the drill guy with an ultra complex double drill( seresuly, look at a review of it if you can) was probably a construction worker, maybe holding a drill while he got portalled. Also, wouldnt the professor become a jock if it turns people into opposites?
I teally loved how the vilians would say the names of the chapters.
You also could have talked about the alternate builds in the app.
I liked the episode
I think Terabyte worked in a small old computer store and Invizable probably was already a criminal
Yeah, as a young lad I really wanted an ultra agente show, it’s rogues gallery is so unique, I always felt it could’ve been like a Batman the animated series type, having a villain of the week but the TT game idea... that would’ve been much better, specially with the possibility of having a character creator and all the cool tech playing a role in the gameplay.
It’s rogues gallery is the best out of any theme IMO (in system specifically)
So many cool bossfights from both sides as well like the batman game
I know this was theme would be place in my special hart along side with some themes but I really liked this game as a kid
Ultra agents really has been forgotten. You still hear people reminiscing about Power miners and themes of the sort and even themes like nexo knights get remembered for all the new parts it gave us but ultra agents barely gets mentioned!
They gave us so many cool helmets and prints
Agents logo could be used for avengers mocs
I think part of that is how recent it was, and part how short lived. The second is compounded by the fact that the final waves weren’t even released outside the US (I think), and where they were available it was for under six months. No wonder they’re so expensive second hand now.
Man thats sad when i was young i saw it in the magazine and really wanted all of them, they used really cool character disigns and new pieces
I can see them looking at home next to spiderman or batman
Ninjago's probably a seperate continuity from Ultra Agents. So there's a Paleman and Toxikita in both universes. Ones an elemental master. The other a normal citizen turned super villain by Antimatter.
Just like how there are 2 incarnations of Clutch Powers
Paleman..... holy crap, that's a much better name than Invizable.
Her bame is still Tox in Ninjago!
@@Justcallmeaqua420 Yea so? Characters can have the same name in different universes.
There are many variations of Bruce Wayne/Batman. And they aren't all the same just cause they have the same name.
Invizable/Paleman was a musician who was afraid of large audiences and so whenever he was afraid he would wish to disappear, so their-for his evil self would be invisible. Great episode Nick👍🏻
Sorry to burst your bubble but he was actually a musician
@@thebowserdude thanks for the info, I'll fix that.
I read that he was actually famous and attention-hungry. His villainous self is invisable as a contrast to that.
It also explains his snazzy outfit with a dollar bill patterned shirt and golden glasses. The guy's still flaunting his riches
Didn’t expect a LEGO Rewind today. Great job as usual Nick!
Thanks!
Mand?! IT'S YOU!
Huh, I can't believe I completely missed out on this. It's cool to see that LEGO used to market their sets in such a variety of ways. Man, can't tell how much I appreciate every episode of this series
Fun fact! You can also use your fingers and put them in the brick positions and it still works. Its very difficult and easier with app bricks, but it’s great when you don’t have the bricks themselves!
You don’t even need the bricks to play the game. There was an option at the bottom the allows you to play without bricks.
Yes! I semi-regret not buying anything, but still,
getting to know the sets more closely and now the actual lore and obscure stuff is really cool. Also, yeah, the villains where really interesting, and their builds looked very aesthetic, in their own way.
Same here
Oh man, this brings back some great memories of going through that app when it first came out… totally agreed on that missed potential for a TT game. We really need more games like that focused on original themes!
Ultra Agents was an underrated idea. Most likely if there was more effort put into other media (a show, game, something more), the theme might've been more successful and lasted longer. Such potential!..
Another great video as always!
I found out recently that Toxicita and her henchman, Retox, were voiced by Boom Boom from Super Mario and Shinji Ikari respectively. Kinda blew my mind when I found out
The way you described what an ultra agents game could be is just god yes, i wish there was a way for lego to take notice maybe via enough fans? it’s wishful thinking but still worth a try
I know this isn't as relevant, but this really reminded me of how much I miss Lego Universe. I still think it should've gotten its line of sets... anyhow, Ultra Agents slipped right by me, so this is a great review! Thanks!
I love weaving my jpg around other jpgs
Though on a more serious note, I feel like Ultra Agents is massively slept on, every part of it; not just the sets
Man I would love a LEGO Tt game just using the old LEGO themes
I love the transforming aspect of all the vehicles… you’re right about the market being rough for these guys. If only they would make a 3rd theme similar to this! I’d snap that up in a heartbeat…
There’s plenty of old lego games that bring me back. Chima racers, monster racer thing, wait are they all race games?!?
Dont forget the star wars space battle one on the website
Always has been
“But it’s good even when it’s bad.”
Same energy as “Well yes but actually no”.
DUDE I loved this comic so much as a kid! It’s probably the reason why Ultra agents is one of my favorite lego themes to this day. I wish lego would do this with more of their themes.
Awesome episode,i have many memories with ultra agents and this felt like a dive deep into the mid 2010s again...Good times.
It strikes me as ironic(?) that you can do something the UA might do in-universe to circumvent the intended app functionality.
A surprise to be sure... but a welcome one!
I got the Antimatter hideout set. I used the four appbricks to do all the stuff in the game.
Ah-HA! So it can be done. Nice.
@@NickonPlanetRipple yeah i think the appbricks are made from the same kind of plastic that stylus's are made from, the app doesn't detect the builds it just detects the touch
@@pawarl.o.s.881 Oh dang, so it's even simpler than I thought. Gonna have to take then into account for the 2021-in-review special.
Imagine anti matter in hero factory and he turns all of the hero factory evil it would be apocalyptic
I really like what you've done with this Lego Rewind as well as the Galaxy Squad episode. Both would've had the potential to feel like rehashes of earlier episodes, but I think it's super cool that you looked at a different side of each theme that the previous episodes hadn't covered. (Ultra Agents' comic/Galaxy Squad's status as the end of lego space.)
And man, an Ultra Agents game would've been so cool. I need someone who knows programming to get on that ASAP!
Man, Ultra Agents had so much potential
Watching this video made me realize that Ultra Agents and the newer Mario sets are probably the only Lego themes that actually pulled off the blend of sets and phone apps well. Whereas lines like Hidden Side, Videyo, or the ill fated Lego Fusion sacrifice a lot of play functions (And in the case of those last two, their builds) and rely too heavily on their app features, UA and Mario manage to have very fun an engaging sets that can be completely enjoyed without the app, in addition to having all the basic story beats available through external means like the Lego website so that kids don’t need to immerse themselves in the app to get an idea of the story. This applies more to the former’s case since the Mario sets lock the actual instructions for the sets behind the app. However, most of the builds are simple enough and can be rearranged very easily so that kids can just jerry rig their own sets.
I've never paid attention to Ultra Agents, but man do these villains look sick! They even made special molds for their accessories and never used them again.
Yeah and have you always wanted to watch an Ultra agents tv series?
The name's Jack,
The lego maniac.
Still my favorite LEGO Theme ! So underrated, it would have deserved much more ! I am so happy (and lucky) to have all the sets ever made.
I enjoyed ultra agents really wish it had succeeded sadly I sold all my ultra agents sets a while ago so I don't have them anymore, also great video and I hope you are having a great day Nick.
I do hope Monkie Kid makes it without Ninjago making it discontinue!
I feel like kids' media's the way for me to enjoy Secret Agent stuff, nowadays.
You're not gonna get any zany oldschool Bond gadgets in a modrn Spy Thriller, when mostly everything viable can be done on a smartphone.
All of a sudden these sets feel like they'd lend themselves to an SCP MOC. The tools are there.
the line always reminded me of the system equivalent to hero factory, especially with the big bad being a former member of the good guy organization with a black hole theme.
Now I really want more ultra agents stuff, especially a full show that could maybe even be at the same level as ninjago, just with a lot less seasons than ninjago of course
From Ultra Agent's TV Tropes page:
- "The graphic and model designers of the Hurricane Heist set are fans of Metal Gear and it shows. Not only does Pysclone's Humongous Mecha resemble the Metal Gear mechs, but the HUD on the windshield is clearly modeled after the Metal Gear Solid codec screen and even has the listed frequency 140.15, which is Meryl's frequency in the Metal Gear Solid games. Even better, the series' creator, Hideo Kojima is a huge fan of LEGO, so this is their way of complimenting him!'
It’s back!!!! Damn am I excited! Keep up the great work Nick!
I noticed a long time ago that Antimatter is very similar to Hawkmoth from Miraculous Ladybug. Both of them wielded a stick like weapons (the staff for Antimatter and the cane for Hawkmoth) and they make ordinary citizens into super-villains. Anyone think it’s a coincidence because I think not.
Wait, but this theme predates that show... But on the other hand it is not only Villain to do this stuff, I mean we had Sci-fi version of this concept as far as Yuusha Oh GaoGaiGar (1997)
By the way, I recommend watching Yuusha Oh GaoGaiGar, it is great show
@@kociarzultimate384 I know what it is and I watched it before.
@@berandom2000 yay, finally otber person who reconizes this show
Can't wait wait for the 2021 Lego Rewind special, i know you won't dissapoint us, Nick !
Ultra agents is essentially a cross between the 2 and a half story based themes (Chima, nexo knights, exo force etc) and the 2 year semi-generic themes (agents, power miners, Atlantis).
Another fantastic video
Regarding Tox and Mr. Paleman, as they're called in Ninjago - I don't think they're supposed to be the same characters as the minifigures are in Ultra Agents. Besides having different names, judging from their actions on-screen, they also aren't evil supervillains, though I suppose they could still be crooks as we don't know what they do off-screen. From what I recall (probably) Tommy saying, they just wanted to reuse minifigures that already existed in sets, so that kids could get their hands on more of the Elemental Masters and play with them.
It would be really interesting if the sets introduced a character who used to be a dangerous criminal before Anti-Matter’s portal turned him into a super hero who went on to join the agents. We could get a good introspective on this character. As he contemplates his new found morality. He also would be hesitant to defeat any-matter because it would mean the reversal of all the portals creations and he would revert back to his own self.
I could see him turning to the Agents and being like, "Guys, you need to be ready to arrest me in like, 5 seconds"
I've always wondered if Antimatter and Von Nebula could have some deeper connection...
0:50 - I know it's not the point of the video, but Agents also had another browser game called 'The Robot Chronicles'. It was a crossover between City, Agents and Racers. It was a top-down, open-ish world game, and you'd drive/fly various vehicles around Lego City while completing missions to stop Dr. Inferno and his evil schemes. Played it a lot when I was a kid.
I mean regarding invizable and toxicita i think theyre ninjago counterparts are from a different continuity
but anyway really great video and its great to see this theme get some love
glad it got some story as the wacky and creative villains really deserved it
finally, another person who remembers ultra agents
Damn those minifigs had a lot of dope pieces. That burning minifig head, and the brain jar would both be awesome to bring back in some form
The burning head headpiece also appears on he two variations of Flama in Nexo Knights, so it's available
This made me think, it'd be reay cool for you to do a Lego Rewind on Lego's various flash website, and game endeavours over the years. It might be a pretty big undertaking, but it'd be a cool nostalgia trip
I can't wait for the next Monkie Kid Mega Review.
The return of the king
I'm glad to see lego rewind isn't done and over with yet.
Love the video
be thankful we are getting rewind content we could have stopped with Bionicle and left rewind he decided to generous and give some bonus rewind this year hopefully next year
I think in the last episode of the second app, in the panel of Antimatter being reverted, the Antimatter app brick segment showed a flashback o younger Solomon Blaze and Morgan Lux in some ceremony (I don’t remember that well) wearing the OG agents suits, with the A logo and everything. That would imply that both Agents and Ultra Agents are part of the same timeline.
You’re sooooo right about the villains! I even found myself making full on themed vehicles for the villains with smaller vehicles like the flame guy…a modded Ninjago fire themed car that launches his flame surfboard
Well this was a surprise, I didn’t even know ultra agents had comics but pretty cool still!
Its always a good when theres a new lego rewind.
LETS GOOOO
let's go! new Lego Rewind episode!
Now that you mention it, Ultra Agents would have been perfect as a Lego Undercover style game - something that uses GTA V as its core inspiration, but just goes full Lego silly mode as it builds from that
Nice to see Lego rewind is back
I mean.... it's been back for a few episodes, now.
Sounds like a pretty awesome comic.
A pleasant surprise!
The intro always brings me back
I really hope we get more agents stuff at some point, genuinenly such a unique series
A new episode nice!
Love the bank puns bit! 😆😂🤣
And I wasn’t aware of this before but there are some neat concepts here! Totally agree with you it would’ve made a good TV show or video game(also I own an antimatter Minifigure btw;)
I think it would be so cool to see the villains from the original LEGO Agents get warped by Anti Matter who become heroes who help the ultra agents
Actually you could play the games without an app brick. There was a finger mode, so even with just having 1 or even no sets you could still play the game! Maybe Ultra agents didn’t last long but sure made an impact in my childhood!
Tbh since we speak of Lego browser games,
I want to talk about one of the coolest browser games from Lego.
The Robot Chronicles. It's the Avengers of Lego Browser games.
Agents, Racers & City, all 3 of them at their peak, with a simple but very cool storyline.
I hope a video about it happens
A Galaxy Sqaud rewind and an Ultra Agents rewind? I’m hoping the next episode is Monster Fighters to finish out the trilogy.
Already covered that in the Halloween episode.
Great video! I would have loved to see a crossover with agents
This reminds me of reading DC's Bionicle G1 comics back in the day.
I would actually get excited for the next story development even though the comics were simple toy promotions at the end of the day.
There are like candy's foudn in old coat pockets. always a kind small surprise
Lego Worlds includes some original Lego Agents stuff. Sadly no story etc but at least a small homage.
The app hints at what a fair few villains were. For example Tremor was a boxer.
Multi media stuff, never got to see them too much so this is nice
Psyclone's big robot thing does look a lot like a Metal Gear.
This theme was really fun!
When new Lego Rewind comes out 😎😎
i admit, the cameo of toxikita and invisible in ninjago was kinda cool
i remember playing the app as a kid, and im pretty sure i didnt need any of those bricks and if you held your fingers the right way it worked pretty good if i recall correctly
That sea world joke had me cackling
9:25 are you F****NG kidding me???!!!!!!
I can't wait to show people how I designed that beak.
@@NickonPlanetRipple words cant describe how cool you are
OMG THAT IS AMAZING
Unexpected but amazing video
Nice 3rd Strike reference!
Reminds me of the EXO FORCE comics, good times. Allways counted the days down for the next comic to appear
The characters in ninjago are just the same figure, entirely different characters
I knew it! This was a Lego Rewind episode!
I been away from lego for 3 year’s I never heard about this one before.
Something I realize about the Spy content I like, full of G.I.Joe-tier gadgets and villain motifs, is that I can't really draw the line where the Spy genre ends and Superhero begins.
1:37 best out of context clip
I just realised that in both the Agents line and Ultra Agents line there's a character named Spyclops
My biggest regret is never getting any ultra agents sets.
Granted I was like 10-12 at the time but I could've done something.
This was unexpected
I remember playing both and in the second, i was able to get through the paywall without any bricks some time later after they released the last episode. I thought they removed the paywall, or maybe it was just that my iPad was kínd of beaten up.
Open that portal in New York and you have a Utopia.
