The fact that Axl was the only figure of his type genuinely hurts me. So much more flexible than big figs and yet still bigger than the average minifig.
@@NickonPlanetRipple There was also a Mr. Incredible minifig that basically was built like Axl. Unfortunately it was only in a video game while the actual minifig just had a regular body. No idea why they only had that for a game when having that torso in real life could’ve diversified minifigs even more similar to how the Woody arms and legs did.
Crazy to see Nexo Knights getting a rewind when it feels like yesterday I was watching the first episode. Imagine in 10 years or so we get a Ninjago Rewind...
I know barely anyone will see this comment but... the story of nexo knights actually wrapped up in the comic within the final magazine of nexo knights, with (spoiler), Clay entering the digital realm to save Merlock, and fight with Monstrox on his own turf, sorta like that one episode of ninjago during the "rebooted" season. I could be remembering it wrong though, it has been over 8 years...
Yeah if I‘m not mistaken Clay beats Monstrox but Merlok dies in the end (I think he sacrificed himself or something but as you said, it’s been 8 years…)
One thing of note about Nexo Knights: The theme was very popular with knock-off companies and went on to get unofficial new sets for several years, usually branded "Nick Knights".
that only a hundred years gap thing combined with the early 90s classic space color schemes has me wondering, what if the technology advanced so quickly because pieces of spacecraft from those older space themes somehow fell back to earth through time and space and got reverse engineered by the classic castle kingdoms?
There's precedence for this. In the Clutch Powers all the Castle themes took place on their own planet, but thanks to an evil wizard's spell they weren't able to use a lot of the space technology other LEGO people were using at the time. That wizard got taken out by the end of the film, so I wouldn't be surprised if they started experimenting with new tech!
I had completely forgotten all the Python references in the 2nd season. Great stuff. I love hearing Ninjago voice actors in other Lego shows, its a mini-pool of talent.
Oh, nexo knights, I wished it had continued to this day. my favorite of these sets were the battle suits and the last wave of this series cause I liked the black and neon green aesthetics of the Villans.
Shoutout to the King's Mech for using a hero factory brain attack visor, fits perfectly into the theme's aesthetic. It's always a treat to see constraction parts in system sets.
I'm going to be completely honest. Once Nexo Knights came out. I hated it since it replaced Chima. I was a passionate fan of Chima and was so disappointed we didn't get a final wave with the cured Hunters , more of the bear tribe, more of the rhinos , and more of the Beaver tribe. The only cured hunter we ever got was Sir Fangar which was an exclusive Target minifigure from the Target exclusive minifigure cube. With all the new elements and builds Lego has now. It'd be cool to see what a new Chima wave would have. There was originally going to be a film which would've been set after the finale. But for unknown reasons , it never happened. The poster was however completed. Allegedly the film would've been about Laval searching for his mother. After years have passed and I now saw this video I think Nexo Knights was interesting. Especially how it combined numerous things from old Lego themes into one.
@@juliancaraveo5700 I mean… there are people who hate Hero Factory for “replacing” Bionicle and who hate Chima for attempting to replace Ninjago. It’s just how it goes, I guess.

While I wasn't a fan of the Hero figures overall, I absolutely loaded up on the monster figures. Nexo Knights had AMAZING baddies all three years, and the line helped augment my Lego Castle collection perfectly. As a stand alone idea, it is very rad and unique.
I used to play with the old late 80's space and castle sets my dad got when he was younger, often fusing them, I still remember the excitement I had over Nexo Knights' futuristic medieval fusion. Wished it had proper 3rd wave.
i've recently become a nexo knights fan for around two months or more now and i have been obsessed!!! i have memories of watching it on tv when i was younger but never got the chance to have a set since 1- my family was low class and 2- lego wasn't seen as a girls toy but now that im grown up and watched the show my god!! i've been looking around for ANY form of content and this was such a nice find, i really liked your video AND LOVED your interpretation on the characters, we need more people in the fandom i really fell in love with this show, its now one of my fixations, i make fan art of it and try to make my few friends watch it, i love nexo knights
Thoughts on Nexo Knights: 1) They really should have had a team building season. I imagined that each of the Knights came from a tribe/kingdom based on the old Castle factions. Like Aaron was a Forestmen and they have a reputation for thievery. Axl is a Black Bull and they're known as brutes who like to fight alot. And bringing them together meant learning they were more than their faction. 2) Nexo Knight definitely oversaturated. I get that they were enthusiastic about another Ninjago theme, but the dozens of sets meant no one was getting them all and that meant no one was getting into the collectibles. Especially for kids, collectibles have to be something obtainable. 3) Jestro gave me some Dhoulmagus vibes. He was the main villain in Dragon Quest 8. An evil force possessed him and he spent most of the game undoing the binds that restrained this evil force. 4) The Evil factions should have had a Knight of their own. A lava knight, a stone knight, etc. Maybe it's a bit Medieval Times, but I'd have loved a tournament where the Nexo Knights face these guys on the Tourney grounds.
Aaron was probably more Wolfpack then Forestmen because his emblem is wolf. I've seen some say its a fox but I say its a wolf. Also I kind of wish they gave Axl grey eyes like the Bulls from Knights Kingdom 1 as some kind of hint Axl might be a descendent of Cedric the Bull.
I'm sosad that I only started getting back into Lego AFTER Bexo Knight was gone. What an awesome theme with so much creativity and amazing special parts...
When I played LEGO Racers as a kid, one of the first characters I built was a mashup of default Castle and Space minifig parts named "King Joe Race". I always imagined that he came from a hypothetical "Space Castle" theme that combined the aesthetics of Castle with the futurism of Space. Therefore, as soon as I saw Nexo Knights, I recognized that it was that "Space Castle" idea finally brought to life. I never understood why other AFOLs instantly hated it; I knew with full certainty that if I was still a kid, I would've really loved it and tried to collect as many sets as I could, just as I did with BIONICLE and Knights' Kingdom. Unfortunately, as with many other 2010s LEGO themes, it came out during a time of my adulthood where I had neither the money nor the space to continue buying LEGO sets, so I missed out on it and could only appreciate it from afar.
I know I'm an outlier but Nexo Knights is my favorite theme that LEGO has done. Eventually I'm going to get the bricks to add more builds to the 3rd wave and MOC the 4th and 5th waves (water and forest). I have big plans but little $$$ I need to get a 3d printer to make the elements I need and I need to keep practicing my minifigure modification methods. Might never happen but I can keep dreaming 🙂
I remember one time when I was a kid, I walked into a store and saw these new futuristic, and fantasy sets. It blew my mind that you could have both go together so well. I ended up getting magmars siege machine as my first set. I really miss this line.
Regarding minifigures, not getting a teen/adult version of Ava was the biggest disappointment. With Robin getting his heroic minifigure rifgt at the end, i am pretty sure she was planned to be in the cancelled second half of the last wave. Probably corrupted or in a damsel in distress situation, a perfect way to round up the growing of Robin as a true knight after years of following the team. Takua style

I explained the basic lore and after that I showed him the mask of light movie, when takua became taka nuva I’ve never seen him more excited, it was great… but anyway I love the nexo nights themes but think a few of the names are a bit on the nose
I love Nexo knights. My story with it started while on a adventure with my school. My class had saved all of our incomes for six years, so we went and sleept at a waterpark in Denmark. Where there was a lego store, I bought Clay armor set, Macey AS, Pony tail demon AS and green crossbow man AS.
Thank you! The TV show also had a parody of fawlty towers one episode. Year2's Jet for clay was excellent, but the battlesuits with the clip-on parts from the other sets got me building the most. Fletcher is crying rn Basically fletcher is clays brother and the book series has him and lances sister as the main characters. It offers some really good lore implications about roguls and wether they are naturally evil or if it depends on who zaps them to life. Also Baro n von bludgeonus and his Pegasus thing are very cool
I have one of those books I believe. It had an exclusive power for the game called “Vicious Voltage” which had some awesome visuals. Pretty decent expanded lore, and yeah the Roguls are awesome.
@@Person-wz6iy I mean, Nexo Knights is almost a decade old… Dreamzzz is still new and might not even be retired a few years from now if it sells well enough
Can confirm Dreamzzz sells well, my younger cousin loved Dreamzzz both the sets and the show, I haven't watched the show but I love the builds especially the bad guys ones, like they literally a flying ship that looks like a shark and can be turned into a monter truck!
Man, I could have sworn Nexo Knights came out yesterday... fantastic video Nick! It feels so weird seeing themes I kind of grew up on be viewed as nostalgic. Although, I feel like as corporations have continued to focus more and more on exsisting ip, our view on what nostalgia is has been so heavily distorted. I've seen 10 year olds talking about being nostalgic for what it was like when they were 8. I think that's part of the reason your videos stick out to me. Because while you bring the past back to life, you still focus on the future and what possibilities lie ahead of us!
To this day, it hurts that we never got a final season. I would have loved to see how it all ended in a final stand. Especially with the amazing sets. I don’t care what people say, this theme holds a special place in my heart. I’d love to see more Lego themes merge old and new technology with magic and fantasy. Dreamzzz just doesn’t have the same feel to it.
Perfect timing. I've recently been going back into my NEXO Knights phase, and I just bought the Character Encyclopedia with Stone Clay minifigure today off FBMP Very interesting rewind on a theme that was, for its duration, very fun with its tie-in mobile game (my childhood!) It was also very unfortunate that the Season 5 sets came out but the series wasn't renewed. While it did leave us with a LOT of room to build up our own stories, I really wish we got an official conclusion. I know there are at least some scripts from Season 5 episodes that Tommy Andreasen posted and I hope that one day those scripts might be realised Unbreakable by Carpark North is literally one of my favourite songs ever too
As someone who cycles between Adventurers, Castle, Pirates, and Space, *"There are times when each aesthetic is my favorite"* sums up my tastes perfectly.
The only Nexo Knights set I ever had was Lance's Twin Jouster. I couldn't find the accompanying mech for the play feature, but I really loved that set. For starters, there was a code to digitally add it to LEGO Universe, and it was amazing there. In-game it could drill a tunnel into the generated terrain in a comically perfect cylinder, and can descend at a manageable slope. So I found it way more convenient and less clunky than the drilling tools you were naturally equipped with. It was the LEGO equivalent of Minecraft strip mines. And it has an amazing Ice Planet-esque color scheme. With the recent release of the Space CMF, and the new Ice Planet minifig, I was thinking of repurposing the Jouster as an Ice Planet vehicle. It's already viable as is.
BAM enployee here, its rare for us to get Nexo Knights in but they go real fast when they do We had a booth at a local comic con a few months ago and while was working it we actually had a Jestro cosplayer come up! Apparently we were the only ones who knew what he was cosplaying
This is one of the only series on RUclips where I can either listen to it while I’m doing something else or sit down and watch. It’s good is what it is.
Paradoxical though it may seem, I can see a magical society developing faster than our own; magic probably helps with a lot of the limitations we had to overcome with our own technology like overheating, miniaturization and the like. And yes, it is odd we haven't had a LEGO RPG yet; not even with BIONICLE or Ninjago which are full of species and worldbuilding. Closest we ever got were the Heroica board games.
Nexo Knights 💙 My favourite wave is definitely the second one, with each vehicle having split feature, and part of those could then be recombined with the battle suits. It peaked with the third wave, I love the tech vampyre and their Black Tron III colour scheme -- and of course the cherry on the cake: the tech wizard showdown with a mech within a mech. Awesome!
It’s crazy that it wasn’t even that long ago when we had themes like nexo knights or hidden side. And we’ve just gotten out a period of 4 whole years of just monkie kid and ninjago.
Nexo Knights was out when I wasn't buying Lego but will admit the designs for all of the waves did look awesome wish I had picked them up now. Mostly cause I love the mechs they make thanks exo force for making me fall in love with them.
Nexo Knights is probably the line I have the most regrets about. I was in a phase of not being as interested in buying LEGO when it first came out, and I completely passed this theme over. Nowadays, seeing all the functions and combinations, I really wish I'd gotten a few sets when they were new. Here's hoping we get a theme like this again in the future.
This line felt like what a reimagined Sonic & The Black Knight could’ve looked like and I always loved that. 100/10 choice to open the video with Misty Lake & Deep Woods there is no other game with a better soundtrack for this
Great episode as usual! Always get excited hearing your intro theme again! :D Looking forward to next time, very clever finding the teaser Hidden inSide your video ;)
Loved this theme, especially with how many of the early sets could either transform or just had other vehicles attached to them! I don't regret owning almost all that first wave from 2016, but i do regret never getting more of the mech suits, as they are perfect for Mocing. This theme deserved so much better than LEGO fans allowed it to have.
This video got my brain thinking up ideas for an Earth 3 evil mirror universe for Ninjago where they're knights/medieval. Wu is a dark mage. Lloyd is the Golden King, ruler of the Golden Empire. The ninjas are knights with Zane's rebuilt form being reimagined as a golem or something.
I’m still mad that nexo knights got discontinued. i’ve bloody loved the show and the sets when I was little and now finding out the plot of season 5 makes me miss it even more
This was my favorite theme when it was out. Never got the colossus, bummed to hear there wasn't enough forbidden powers for it, always thought there was. Definitely a grail set for me down the line.
This was one of my favourite themes as a kid. I could never afford most of the sets but I owned all of the battle suits, including robins. I was truly sad when the theme left us😭
Great rewind Nick! Kudos to building all the sets, and your year 3 mocs are great! I picked up a few sets from the theme after it had ended. Nexo Knights, as you said, is a great example of a theme living and dying by its color scheme. The number of sets and the over saturated colors was a bit much for me. It was nice to see them later accent the hero sets like they did with Alpha Team, and to give the villains a more contrasting color. But even with unique shillouttes, if every set looks purple and gray, it's not as exciting as other lego themes where each character and set is a different color. Multiple factions was a big strength for classic castle, and it's a shame we couldn't have gotten more banner variety in this theme (the warhammer looking space orcs from the concept art looked amazing!)
Nexo Knights was a theme that I was borderline obsessed with back in the day, and even now still love. I get the gripes people had with the show, but I think it's actually pretty solid, and has its own qualities that allow it to stand out. And the sets... those speak for themselves. Still kicking myself for not getting the Stone Colossus back in the day. Lance was my favorite.
Great review. This theme came out during years that I wasn't buying new Lego sets. I was never aware of how many sets there were or how diverse they got.
The anecdotes of the current generation of kids clammering for more Nexo Knights and Bionicles makes me hope for a revival of Castle and Constraction, but only time will tell.
When i started to get back into lego as a young adult, nexo knights was a theme that drew my eye. I went to a lego store for my birthday and asked an employee if they had any, and he said no-- sadly its not ninjago so it didnt sell too well
I gotta say it’s because of you. I got into Lego mediaeval fantasy world. I remember picking upNexo Knight. and just not really liking them but as I grew up, I slowly fell in love with the mediaeval sets and now thank you. I have a new look on life for Nexo knights.
24:00 I can't believe it! an episode on my all time favourite lego theme!? I really hope you go deep into the lore and characters... most of the discussion I've seen online has been about the sets themselves, but I've always been super invested in the story! (I'm even working on a fangame for GBC)
The thought that I was a live when it was both introduced and retired makes me sad however I do love those little power things, I currently use the for tank battalions in my custom LEGO military, this was such a good concept that had to be killed off for more corporate stuff that I’m not even a big fan of
I came here a Nexo hater and now I want every set

Basically fletcher is clays brother and the book series has him and lances sister as the main characters.
Bruh, I sadly won't be Suprised if you do a Dreamzzz episode in a few years time.
"sadly"
?
@@rakeguy7703 It will mean the continued death of non-licensed themes.
@@Person-wz6iy Oh i see... I agree.
I’m just now realizing this theme has a similar techno fantasy vibe as Masters of the Universe, no wonder why I love both so much.
Yeah, the technomancy is even more noticeable with recent She-Ra series.
"Crash the economy by turning gold into lead"
ah yes, the Balthasar Gelt classic
To this day, it hurts that we never got a final season. I would have loved to see how it all ended in a final stand. Especially with the amazing sets. I don’t care what people say, this theme holds a special place in my heart. I’d love to see more Lego themes merge old and new technology with magic and fantasy. Dreamzzz just doesn’t have the same feel to it.
Such an underrated theme.
Perfect timing. I've recently been going back into my NEXO Knights phase, and I just bought the Character Encyclopedia with Stone Clay minifigure today off FBMP
Very interesting rewind on a theme that was, for its duration, very fun with its tie-in mobile game (my childhood!)
It was also very unfortunate that the Season 5 sets came out but the series wasn't renewed. While it did leave us with a LOT of room to build up our own stories, I really wish we got an official conclusion. I know there are at least some scripts from Season 5 episodes that Tommy Andreasen posted and I hope that one day those scripts might be realised
Unbreakable by Carpark North is literally one of my favourite songs ever too
As someone who cycles between Adventurers, Castle, Pirates, and Space, *"There are times when each aesthetic is my favorite"* sums up my tastes perfectly.
R.I.P nexo knights you will be missed
THANK YOU for making a video about nexo knights that isn't just "nexo knights bad" cuz I've seen WAY too many of those
I love how Nexo Knights was basically LEGO's Warhammer 40k
BAM enployee here, its rare for us to get Nexo Knights in but they go real fast when they do
We had a booth at a local comic con a few months ago and while was working it we actually had a Jestro cosplayer come up! Apparently we were the only ones who knew what he was cosplaying
Damn.... that kinda made my day just now
This is one of the only series on RUclips where I can either listen to it while I’m doing something else or sit down and watch. It’s good is what it is.
This was peak back in the day.
They could at least release one episode of season 5, then the rest and season 6 would be canceled, bruh....
Tbh i'm still salty that the closest we got to a ending was from the magazines comics
Common theme with Lego themes far as i can tell.
Awesome!
I love Monkie Kid hommage to Nexo Knight, with Mei's jet that can combine with MK's battle suit, just like Macy's Bot Dragon
12:39 I've had the book those are in for years. I love it. That book added so much cool lore.
Black and green cyber technozombie? Thats definitely Necrons
If there were a final season I say jestro should get the final blow on monstrox just for everything monstrox put jestro through
I loved Nexo Knights from the moment I saw it. It made me think of my two favorite themes from when I was a kid, castle and space!
100/10 choice to open the video with Misty Lake & Deep Woods there is no other game with a better soundtrack for this
i actually said "HOLY FUCKK" out loud in my kitchen when i saw this on my youtube recommended
Great episode as usual! Always get excited hearing your intro theme again! :D
Looking forward to next time, very clever finding the teaser Hidden inSide your video ;)
I'm happy you found so much to say about the stone villain wave. I always liked them, but I remember seeing a lot of people calling them bland
It feels like just yesterday I was watching the first episode of the show. Man does time fly.
Lego has turned iconic series and themes into yearly events. How does a toy company get more sad than this?
Probably one of my favorite things that came from this theme (something that could be used for regular castle) were the new helmet visors.
The Nexo Knights monsters, especially year one, fit into Castle mocs very well.
7:01 This truly peak comedy, its almost funnier than Ninjago's lol
NEXO KNIGHTS WAS 8 YEARS AGO?
6 bc season 5 and 6 got canceled in 2018
This video got my brain thinking up ideas for an Earth 3 evil mirror universe for Ninjago where they're knights/medieval.
Wu is a dark mage. Lloyd is the Golden King, ruler of the Golden Empire. The ninjas are knights with Zane's rebuilt form being reimagined as a golem or something.
These weapon-like vehicles make me wish that we got a line of role play toys, maybe even add some electronics.
Yeah, there were six spaces on the crown and 5 forbidden power pieces, so.... at least it'd look complete from the front.
I wish I could go back and relive Nexo Knights during its prime.
I had most of the series one sets when I was younger and they were so good! I think my favorite set was lances horse bike, they were so great
I didn't even know about year 2 Nexo Knights sets.
They are AWESOME!
gahhhh now I want the year 3 Clay mech again, love how they brought back the mech gimmick one last time
this reminded me that I was gonna watch Nexo Knights after a friend recommend it to me after I saw art they did
Something wicked this way comes! Hidden side is my favorite theme that I never got any sets from. Can’t wait to see this one!
W throwback, this actually used to be my favorite theme. It's just nostalgic now.
Mixing of medieval and hi-tech was such a cool concept!
I wish they continued it...
I... did not know those sets existed. They look soo cool!
Even though I wasn’t huge into Nexo Knights my interest for D&D made me really appreciate this theme a lot more…
24:00 I can't believe it! an episode on my all time favourite lego theme!? I really hope you go deep into the lore and characters... most of the discussion I've seen online has been about the sets themselves, but I've always been super invested in the story! (I'm even working on a fangame for GBC)
This was a great theme, had much fun with it.
The thought that I was a live when it was both introduced and retired makes me sad however I do love those little power things, I currently use the for tank battalions in my custom LEGO military, this was such a good concept that had to be killed off for more corporate stuff that I’m not even a big fan of
Wow! You’ve been doing these for more than 8 years already! Congrats for keeping at it. I love your rewinds.
Well, I started in 2017 so.... not quite. But I did start the series before Nexo Knights ended.
