I was trying to take mine apart to try and get whatever was making my B button stick and was stuck trying to separate the boards. You were the only one out of a few I looked at that mention the right stick screws off. So thank you.
THX dude. This easy guide fixed my 'A' button issue. It was not that bad but now it works perfect. I used a relative thick guitar pick to open the controller without damaging the edges.
After the second exchange, I just decided to get my money back. I shouldn’t have to open the damn thing just to fix something they should’ve checked for before putting it on the market.
Hey if you are still having this problem try putting a piece of paper around the button to help with that instead of opening the controller up. Go into your game pad tester and hold the A button down. Try wiggling it left right up or down and see if it starts missing consistently in one direction (mine was to the right) then you know where your paper should be placed. I used a piece of paper that is 1cm long and 6mm tall. I can fish it out with a knife but also can't feel the paper while playing. Good luck!
thank you so much. i was skeptical and thought that i would definitely notice the paper but i actually don't... hope it lasts for long enough to not become pain in the ass to change too often
These are supposed to have a face plate as he kind of shows. Theres glue where the grip ends behind the face on the left side above the grip and in between the d pad and left analog stick. There is more glue under/ around the a button. Take something like a heavy gauge guitar pick so that it can bend but not break. Right above the audio inputs there's the little slit that runs across to both handles. This is where you insert whatever you use and try to jimmy it very careful until you get slight clicks both sides. After that removal is easy but you have to pull very careful because the glue, it's essentially double sided tape but it's not and itll stay sticky if you keep it clean and even maybe swipe it with a damp cloth that has rubbing alcohol. Obviously never put anything near wet near the inside. Use q tips dipped in alcohol and dried lightly so that it's almost dry to touch the q tip. Rubbing alcohol dries quickly so it shouldn't be a problem if you're using a really light amount. It's going to get rid if any gunk sticky or dirty material that gets tracked through the sticks dpad triggers bumpers and the paddles. Recommend buying a electronic tool kit because it has torx screws that are quite small. After that you're on you're own .
Has anyone tried the tape thing? And is this an issue on 100% of controllers? It's hard to tell between consumers that aren't observant enough to realize unresponsive a, those that don't talk, and then the loud minority. For me, the unresponsive face button is the biggest issue by far.

Between the actual plastic button (RB) and the circuit button it's a little foil of thin plastic, like those from folders. You can try to open the faceplate and look, you can see clearly the mechanism. Don't worry about the warranty, the warranty sticker is put on the inside screw, you don't need to open that, only the front cover and do it with a plastic knife or something similar for no scratches.
I was looking forward to attempting this. My controller seems all okay except the face buttons. The A button was the worst. I put everything back together good as new and NOPE. Didn't fix the problem one bit. What an absolute terrible fucking controller. £160 down the shitter.
