Glad you enjoyed! I've got another great video coming up where I fix 25 of the Elite 1 controllers that has a number of things I've never fixed before.
10:21 I found a solution to drifting analog sticks. All you need to do is pry open those 2 green containers on the module. There should be a small disc in there. You just have to clean that entire container and the disk with isopropyl alcohol and place the disk in perfectly. Your problem should be solved instantly. Works for me every time, however it’s a temporary solution lasting for about 6 months or as long as a normal analog stick.
PS4 and Xbox One controllers are the first devices I started fixing on my channel. It's nice to see that an expert like you still make similar mistake as me when you repair these. It's also nice to see the difference between a novice like me and an expert. :)

I had actually fixed one of those a week ago. Drift issue. Fixed it up. There is a website I use to test every controller I work on, which happens to be the site you used. Funny how its registered as a 360 controller.
@@Tronicsfix I will say the gamepad tester app has given me bad readings before. I replaced the sticks on one, tested it with the app, and everything looked fine. The customer brought it back with the same issue. So I used that site and sure enough the drift was still there. So it's good to have a backup just in case.

Funny you would make a video on this controller, I recently purchased a faulty Xbox One Elite Series 2 controller myself for €79. Upon opening it up, I was kind of shocked at the state of it, I have a hard time understanding what happened to it but I got it to work in the end. It was missing the magnet for the hall effect sensor on the left trigger (I could only find one from an elite series 1 on ebay, figured it would do). The support bracket for the magnet was broken and the broken half was missing as well (I could only find these brackets for either the regular controllers, ended up ordering one for an S controller). The left shoulder button didn't work, didn't even click in (turns out the metal plate it fits onto had been bent a lot, had to realign it). The right trigger rattled when vibrating (had to tighten it down). In the process of opening the previous owner broken one of the little pillar that holds the left bumper in, no biggie, it works fine without that. They also broke one of the structures that holds thee controller fascia into place and they broke one of the structures that holds the silver plastic on the top of the controller into place so it looks slightly misaligned. Anyway, I got it to work fine and I'm happy with that.
@@Tronicsfix yeah, I've been struggling with some ps4 controllers. One of them still has drift even after replacing the offending analog stick twice, with a new one.
@@Tronicsfix I'll have to keep at it. I had a similar issue with an Xbox One Elite Series 1 controller but that had been my mistake, I had moved one SMC with the hot air inadvertently. Fixing that fixed the issue but that is not the case with this rogue DS4 controller. :)
André Coelho I bought a DualShock 4 off eBay which had a broken analog stick/drift issue. I replaced the joystick module and still had the stick drift. There’s two resistors and depending on which way the game character moves with the stick drift, one or both will have to be replaced. The character moves back on its own and won’t move forward so that tells me the resistor on the left has to be changed. You’ll have to keep changing the resistor until you find the right one and luckily I only have had to change it once or twice.

Perfect timing, the RB tactile switch on my Xbox One S Controller is broken. I'm trying to do a repair. This is a great video so many twist and turns but positive result at the very end. I've learned that the stick is calibrated onto the motherboard by Microsoft, so replacing it without calibrating the potentiometer will caused the dead zone to be off.

Hi Steve. I saw something on another channel that I thought might be a cool idea and something I haven’t seen you do before. Find a PS1 in need of repair and do an update with a PS1 digital upgrade. The PS1 needs to be one of two board models and requires Micro soldering to install ( something your very qualified to do). Possibly do a before and After video improvement too. But a retro repair and upgrade would be a pretty cool video. Thanks for the cool videos
Hey I love your channel. Always nice to know these things for when my stuff goes sideways. I also love you occasionally going off track to cover something else helpful. I really appreciate it😊
Great video, Steve. I have 2 questions: how many hours did the process take for you to repair this controller? And, what reasonable price would you charge someone for fixing this controller?
Great video. If I may just add somthing... You don't actually have to replace the whole thumbstick module, you can actually pry open that greenish square piece and then replace the circular spring inside with the one from your new module.
Awesome! I want to learn how to diagnose on that level. Still green but I'm learning all the time. A lot of insight as well as just plain entertainment from your videos!
Haha that's true! Sometimes I'm in a hurry taking apart some device and suddenly I say to myself "wait wait... this is not something that Tronix would do... so take it easy and do it correctly!"
I kinda have the same problem with my Xbox elite controller But the only buttons that aren’t working is the 1: Button with 2 square (I don’t know the name) 2: The Right shoulder button
I’ve had two the first had a few issues got a replacement and works great only thing the right bumper doesn’t respond sometimes have to press it hard or in the right place but that goes away after a while
My thumb sticks had some glue on the threads to keep them from rotating under normal use. Anyways I fix my drift issue with the left thumbstick drifting up and down by pulling the top cover off, then the thumbstick bell, pulling the potmeter away from the board, pulling out the wiper disc, straighting the wiper contact point to where it's the only point that can touch the top outer ring, cleaning the carbon traces with isp. The top ring had a rough spot on it,so I used some Tweezers to Gently clean it being careful to NOT bust up the carbon, then used a #2 pencil to add some carbon back in,then clean the traces again and no more drift. It took about 50 trys of pulling the wiper disc out and getting it straightened just right, tho, so just be patient..
Honestly I think original Xbox one controller thumbsticks are better, I have the elite series 2 and I've used it for 3 months and the left thumb stick is already wearing out :(
Make a warrently claim on it. Most people forget, my headphones recently broke but luckily had 1 week left on my warrenty so sent them in and even got a newer model because my current ones were so old & discontinued
That was pretty cool, congrats on the fix. I only play on ps4 myself. Having bad vision I couldn’t see to fix a controller. Sadly I am a forgetful klutz.
@@FOREVER-qj3rt If you feel comfortable taking it apart, the pad for the shoulder button is probably dirty and needs to be cleaned. That's my best guess and where I would start troubleshooting
Hey Mate - another grest video, thank you! Fascinating stuff watching you disassemble electronics and fixing and cleaning them. My only gripe is that you make everything soo easy 😉 I may have been able to disassemble it but putting it back together... thats another story. Back in the day I was fixing a PS3 controller and it was a wild ride 😉 This thing looks muuuch more complex.
Hi! I'm a french fan of your channel. I love your videos that are really soothing to me. Very interesting and rewarding, i hope i will fix the world like you 😄👍!
My right bumper won’t do anything it clicks fine but i get no response, and my left joystick is keeps drifting like my character would move forward on it’s on and sometime when I go forward on my joystick my character would have a hard time walking forward. My paddles are don’t make that click sound and you have to press it hard to get a response. Is there a place where they can fix it. It’s an Xbox elite series 2
In the future you should also consider trying to fix Logitech, Thrustmaster or Fanatec racing wheels, pedals etc. People who have run out of their warranty could have some more use from your videos. Anyway, your making interesting content. Keep it up!

Ha, ha...that's a good idea
@@Tronicsfix or custom upgrade the micro usb to type c or the pro
Hey I love your channel. Always nice to know these things for when my stuff goes sideways. I also love you occasionally going off track to cover something else helpful. I really appreciate it😊
Great video, Steve.
I have 2 questions: how many hours did the process take for you to repair this controller?
And, what reasonable price would you charge someone for fixing this controller?
Great video. If I may just add somthing... You don't actually have to replace the whole thumbstick module, you can actually pry open that greenish square piece and then replace the circular spring inside with the one from your new module.
i love his face in the thumbnail
Awesome! I want to learn how to diagnose on that level. Still green but I'm learning all the time. A lot of insight as well as just plain entertainment from your videos!
Tronix: Uses tool to remove each button carefully
Me: Flips the shell upside down to let every button fall out 🤣
Haha that's true! Sometimes I'm in a hurry taking apart some device and suddenly I say to myself "wait wait... this is not something that Tronix would do... so take it easy and do it correctly!"
@@Cabeza492 Plot twist - Tronics only does it like that on camera and is reckless normally to save time
I kinda have the same problem with my Xbox elite controller
But the only buttons that aren’t working is the
1: Button with 2 square (I don’t know the name)
2: The Right shoulder button
Is there any way to fix stick drift on dualshock 4 if so do a video on it. Pls
Yep...same way as in this video. I've also got another video coming up that shows all the ways to do it.
@@Tronicsfix thanks for the quick answer cant wait for that up coming vid
Don't wanna think where that controller been at. Great video man good job
I'm wearing a T-shirt with 'I'm the dude who broke this"
Ha, ha...that's funny!
@@Tronicsfix I found your Shirt funny too :)
Nice one! Glad to see you stick with it until it's working again.
Me too!
This felt like an intense anime episode, where the protagonist is fighting the villian and comes out victorious in the end
Ha, ha...true!
I was having this exact issue on a regular Xbox One controller after I replaced the sticks, so this video is actually extremely helpful to me.
I've always wanted one of those controllers
Other than the smoke it's a really nice controller.
I’ve had two the first had a few issues got a replacement and works great only thing the right bumper doesn’t respond sometimes have to press it hard or in the right place but that goes away after a while
I have an Elite 1 and Elite 2. I really like my Elite 2. Well worth the money for the quality and customization.
Nice is there a ps4 version
Ghostreaper 098 ones similar to it
My thumb sticks had some glue on the threads to keep them from rotating under normal use.
Honestly I think original Xbox one controller thumbsticks are better, I have the elite series 2 and I've used it for 3 months and the left thumb stick is already wearing out :(
Interesting
@@Ebolachicken say what? Cheese grime? Not the one I'm thinking about?? O_o
Make a warrently claim on it. Most people forget, my headphones recently broke but luckily had 1 week left on my warrenty so sent them in and even got a newer model because my current ones were so old & discontinued
@@sm00th77 And what next, after warranty runs out (1-year only I pressume)?
Used mine alot. every single day for 9 months. thumbsticks seem to wear a lot less than the old ones.. you might just have a faulty one....
That was pretty cool, congrats on the fix. I only play on ps4 myself. Having bad vision I couldn’t see to fix a controller. Sadly I am a forgetful klutz.
love these videos
Thank you for watching!
The patience this man had is insane
When I see the title and you find it as a tricky fix, I’m surprised
I'm actually not as good with controllers. I haven't fixed as many of them.
@@TronicsfixI'm sorry to ask but my controllers right trigger does not work unless I blow in the controller any fixes you know?
I love a happy ending.
Me too!
Hi! I'm a french fan of your channel.
I love your videos that are really soothing to me. Very interesting and rewarding, i hope i will fix the world like you 😄👍!
It's 2020 and people still smoke indoors near their electronic devices?
That is just disgusting
My right bumper won’t do anything it clicks fine but i get no response, and my left joystick is keeps drifting like my character would move forward on it’s on and sometime when I go forward on my joystick my character would have a hard time walking forward. My paddles are don’t make that click sound and you have to press it hard to get a response. Is there a place where they can fix it. It’s an Xbox elite series 2
That controller looked complicated when you opened it up
They seem like that at first but they're really not too bad.
I wouldn’t have ever been able to put it back together.
@@jammedhands me too
In the future you should also consider trying to fix Logitech, Thrustmaster or Fanatec racing wheels, pedals etc. People who have run out of their warranty could have some more use from your videos.
Anyway, your making interesting content. Keep it up!
“Designed to fit in your front pocket”
Unless you’re a women. Our pockets are tiny

Ha, ha...nothing fits in those "pockets"!
Truly, women's "pockets" are a joke. Who decided women didn't need pockets on their pants? Or if they have pockets, they're about 2 inches deep tops. I was just talking to my wife about this recently, and it seems to be a huge conspiracy!
