Thanks you lovely people, and keep on tinkering! Наука
This very much beats the folding card trick. Even without drilling holes, this has restored my bumpers. Thank you so much for the tips!
what is the folding card trick?
Thank you for making this video! I’m on my second ES2, I bought a new one after my first ES2 developed the unresponsive LB/RB’s. My second one started doing the same, the contact cleaner has worked an absolute treat!
Fantastic to hear it is working now! Thanks for letting me know, much appreciated 👏👏👏👍
Thanks for the video, never even thought of using IPA Spray as my right Bumper was having the same issue, I’d tried bending the plastic over to make a better contact which worked for a while, but the issue returned, put it back to normal and used the IPA Spray and it’s like a new controller again.
Saved me a few quid. :-)
That's great news!! They are expensive things so definitely good when you get them going again
This absolutely worked for me! Thank you for the video!! Both of my bumpers were pretty unresponsive (to the point where I stopped throwing grenades in cod) and now they feel brand new 🎉
Fantastic news! 👍 Well done
Does this still work? I have ordered new tactile buttons but I'd happily drill a hole if that works because than I'm not risking damaging the controller with my soldering gear.
@@HD-wf3bp I did it without drilling holes and sprayed at the top near the contact while pressing on the bumper a few times and in the small hole that's already there at the bottom and it did the trick, both bumpers are super responsive again. I'd give the least invasive process a try and then move up from there
@@davidlogsdon1048 I bought 3 controllers and I had the problem also but it wasn't fixable with alcohol so I ordered new buttons to solder on but I messed up a few stick replacements so I only had enough sticks for 2 of the 3 controllers so I left the one with this problem as it is for now even though I have the bumpers. I'm probably going to need a new board because i messed up with the last one. Replacing sticks is Pretty hard for a noob like me but still 2 work perfectly so that's goodxD but nice it worked for yours!
@davidlogsdon1048 what did you use for spray?
All I did with mine was put two drops of isopropyl alcohol over the small white button he drilled in and it worked fine. Try that first before drilling the hole!
Is the small white button that white circle underneath where he drilled?
@@TheUntakenChannelName ive done this as well and it stopped after a few hours again. will have to try the drill technique.
Warning: isopropyl alcohol can WRECK certain membranes and composites. It’s best to ONLY use it on PCBs and components you know for a fact are safe.
@@mileskt9232 how did you fix it?
Watched like 20 videos but this comment right is what got the job done thank
Thank you so much! Worked for me too! I've drilled only 1 hole inside that thing and blew air into it. Now I can use block/parry again in Jedi Survivor.
this just worked for me. was quick and easy. thanks for posting the solution.
This was super helpful. Thank you!
Glad to have seen this. Apparently my XB-Elite 2 controller is good except for the L1 (or "Left Bumper") button, so I may have to try this to get it to work better.
I'm sure you will fix it 👍
its another thing to watch a tutorial video. its another to watch a man do what he loves . got ur self a sub :D
That is very kind of you, thanks!
I hate how weak certain parts are inside for example like the small black picks that make contact with the white button for the L+R bumpers, both have broken off my xsx controller. I believe theoretically a solution would be to make the bumpers out of a thin metal and the tip of the picks should have a layer of elastic or rubber so that the picks don’t tear away at contact. One can dream.
I had the same exact problem. This was the solution. 100% functionality again. Thanks for the tip
I wouldn't normally post on something like this, but I absolutely need to. I bought WD40 contact cleaner and a micro drill set for like 15 bucks. Decided I didn't want to drill unless absolutely necessary. All I did was spray a bit of cleaner on and around that bumper housing, and I got back 100% functionality in BOTH bumpers, that weren't working about 75% of the time. (I just used the bottom left paddle to shift my upper paddles to bumpers as a temp fix). But about a week later, still working flawlessly. Thank you for finding this method, and posting this video. It needs more visibility. I was able to fix my OTHER S2 controller with the same issue, that the new one had after about a month. (Which was sent as a replacement for the first one). So now I have 2 elite controllers that work 100% instead of 2 broken ones.
That's awesome!! You had nothing to lose, but came out a total winner!!
Me too thanks for this comment
poking the hole and cleaning out with compressed air worked! Thank you
Thank you for this mate! Bought some WD40 Contact Cleaner and just spraying that on the problem side was enough, didn’t need to go as far as drilling the contact 👍
The drill totally worked for me. Thanks dude
Great news!
Bought the joystick replacement part thinking this was going to be easy. Watched this video tonight and said never mind. Not doing that lol
Ha ha, I dunno, once you get into it, it might be ok
It’s extremely easy……
Laziness will keep your mediocre.
BRO!!!!! This was fantastic, thanks🙌. But, there is no way I'll have the patience to pull this crash course in brain surgery.
I guess it depends on how desperate you are to play your Xbox 😂
My left bumper was very intermittent, i was ready to pull it apart to fix it, but i found someone on another video suggesting this and it worked for me. Just hold the left trigger down and blow sharply into the under side of the bumper. Worth a shot before attempting to pull it apart!
Bro this just saved me thanks bro holy shit
you genius thank you
Saved me a lot of headache!!
Thanks, this worked. I used my dewalt drill tho….very carefully haha
Just cleaning with a cotton bud did it for me btu this helped get the cover off so thanks!
This was the absolute 💯 🔥 👌 way to go 1st before doing anything else! I didn't even drill holes just sprayed like you did on the right switch. Great video. Thank you brutha! 👍
Will this also fix the issue of the bumpers often double-clicking? Basically my controller doesn't have unresponsive bumpers, it has OVER-responsive bumpers! which messes up stuff like menu navigation when the bumpers are used to move from tab to tab. So I end up jumping two tabs over occasionally instead of just one. Not sure how much this affects actual gameplay (it doesn't seem to, but still...)
What is your opinion on removing the little plastic white piece that covers the 90 degree switch for the left and right bumpers? Some people take them out entirely and there seems to be no problem. What is their purpose and should they be left in?
Today we learned we have make sure our knobs are well lubricated lest they become too sticky to operate properly.
And you have to manipulate the shaft of your tool up and down as well
@@backofficeshow but not too firmly or you will stab your finger
.... or worse!
Mine seems to only quit working on 1 game. I watched a video that the person had taken out the white plastic on top of the button & folded it over so it’s twice as wide to help press the actual button. That did NOT work for me. I’m going to have to try spraying it I guess, maybe drilling it too.
Bro do you know what those pieces of plastic near bumpers are called?
Confirm 100% works.
To get the sticks off get one of the magnetic sticks pop it on push down and then use it to unscrew it
Good vid, but very frustrating since this really should not be a thing. Microsoft only get away with delivering a poor quality and defective product because so many people are willing to accept having to perform some kind of surgery like this. At this point there should be a class action suit brought against them tbh.
Well, what are you doing here, then? Get Lost
@backofficeshow Would you have details of the hand drill you are using as dont have one and the one you have looks like a Quality tool, thanks
I don't recall where I got it, but it was cheap.
There seem to be plenty on Amazon

@@backofficeshow Ok thank you, will take a look
Can confirm this works. Used 70 percent alch. Just a little
Impressive ! Also consider remapping the Rb button to one of the four triggers on the back of the controller, available on the XBOX Accessories Application, until you have the focus and set up to do good work on the controller like this champ right here!
That's what I have been doing, using bottom left as a shift button, and using the top 2 paddles and LB/RB when shifted. Works pretty well, but messes with my muscle memory, since I use the same layout for nearly every shooter.
Gotta try this soon. I have 2 or 3 elite controllers that are sitting here with that issue, Microsoft has been kind enough to just ship me new ones, but fixing them all would be pretty awesome.
so i just simply took out the small papers on the bumpers, and my problem seems to be solved. right know i want to know if something bad will happen if i leave the thin papers out.
Fantastic vid, thank you. My R1 has gone (after 5 weeks!!! What a joke) but I'm crap at this sort of thing. Do you have a recommendation for a set of kit/stuff to buy? E.g. the "plectrum" and various gubbins. Definitely going to give this a go.
If you have a look in Amazon or similar you might find an electronics toolkit for repairing mobile phones. Those will likely contain all that you need
@@backofficeshow perfect, thanks
@@backofficeshow it worked 😁 didn't need the micro drill though, just a couple of sprays of contact cleaner. Thanks again.
My Y paddle is not stuck fysically but my controller reads it as Y lower right paddle is stuck? I even tried removing the tight electric board and still it just say the button is stuck. Any ideas why???😊
You can unscrew the thumbstick with the actual removable thumbsticks
As a technician I’ve breathed in so much fuckin contact cleaner it coulda killed a T-Rex lol
what borderlands do you play
Ah yes, the bloodletting the microswitches.
Hey if it works, it works!
I think it's actually in the Microsoft service manual, along with the runes you need to use
@@backofficeshow 🤣
whats the name of that hand drill? the ones on Amazon havent got that style of drilling
Try looking for a watch makers drill
i saw you put wd40 into it and decided to blow into the hole around bumper as hard as i could, works just fine now!
It's the WD40 contact cleaner and not WD40 oil, so be careful!
@@backofficeshow never knew the difference, ill watch out if i ever need to use any, thanks!
Where did you get that drill and bit set from?
eBay I think
My controller's lb button remains pressed. Will it work if I do this? What is the substance you spray?
It was WD40 CONTACT CLEANER make sure to get the contact cleaner and not the regular one. BW100 does the same thing as well.
@@Miller12366 Thank you very much
pre sequel is my favorit
I am working my way through the games at the moment, i am back to Borderlands 1 on the switch, I have a level 26 character thatis smashing though the missions. I cant actually remember ever completing it game, I just keep creating new characters when I buy it for a new platform
ew only thing good was low gravity
@@backofficeshow bl1 is kinda annoying because you have to do all of the side missions to be a high enough level for the main missions
what spray are you using?
Contact cleaner
so sick of products being made to look sleek and seamless for the sake of looks without any regard to longevity. plastic looks sleek but is super brittle and buttons rubbing against each other makes it stick after a year. Granted i probably have 2000 hours worth of play time on this but for 250 dollars this controller should be that last one you have to buy so long as you take care of it.
some how after a few months of causal play the bumpers just stop working entirely and its not like ive been using it non stop so what the heck man lol
Most socially awkward RUclipsr
Well thanks for trying but You're going to cause someone to really tear up their thumbsticks prying up on them is a very bad idea they actually screw on you just have to get a good grip on the top of it and turn counterclockwise to remove to expose the gyroscope control underneath.🤦🏾♂️
Bro treating it like it’s not 200 dollars
It's not worth anything when it does not work 😂
These are the worst pads I have ever purchased, and frustratingly, every pad ive bought since owning this pos has had drift within weeks, wtf is going on with these controllers they all suck
Cheap ass Springs from Microsoft crazy they're getting corrosion and the screens getting compressed permanently down that quick Good thinking on the fix though as this is a better solution and sauttering a whole new one for the Spring
Look xbox support video. Author have broken controller. 😂😂
Bro get to the point will ya?
Do you still have the Composite kits available for the Famicom ?
Always, backofficeshow.com - v5 has just been released!
WD40 "CRINGE" I would of used WD100 it's better and dry's even faster! Just suggesting since that's what everyone uses!
