Hey everyone, Walmart has a really good warranty that costs $15 for two years. You can send it back for any reason and get the entire cost (plus tax) of the controller back in an E-gift card. I had my controller break twice so I traded it in and I bought a new one along with a new warranty.
In fact, I didn't want my warranty to expire so right before my two year mark from the last time I purchased the controller, I traded it in for a new one and just re-upped the warranty. All in all, I've spent about $150 plus $45 extra for 3 elite controllers and I just sent mine back to get a gift card to put towards the Elite 2 controller. Will only cost me $30 to upgrade plus $15 for a two year warranty.
I don't ever go to Walmart except for my controller/warranty needs.
I'll keep it for close to 2 years and then trade it in for a brand new controller before the warranty expires and pay another $15 to re-up

I managed to get my hands on the series 2. And it is definitely worth the buy since the holidays are coming around. The controller has held up super well, the new trigger locks help extremely since I play R6 and timing is crucial in that game. The paddles being shorter helps since I won’t accidentally throw a nade at myself. Plus, the presets are great. I didn’t upgrade from Elite series 1 since I heard a lot of negative feedback. But from playing on a regular controller to playing on the series 2, you can tell the difference in your gaming. So, whether you play on the Elite series 1 or just a regular controller, then I would 100% recommend the Series 2

One thing on the Series 2 also :
When shortening the triggers, you don't need to customize the trigger's sensitivity in order to be at 100%
Instead, the Series 2 does it for you
If you shorten the trigger, it'll automatically scale to the trigger being shortened, unlike Series 1
More profiles, and the ability to connect to almost any device...
And the paddles are shorter and more clicky (Still need to get used to that, but overall it fixed the miss clicking anytime you'd put the controller on your bed or your leg)

Definitely worth the upgrade. I wish my og had a tension screw in the analogs. The og analog is super duper loose and drifting occurs easily. And the Xbox elite series 2 is cheaper than the og at launch even though it’s included a magnetic charger? You can’t beat that. I’m gonna have to buy one now!

  • @Acts4Twelve

Just got my series 2 in the mail yesterday. I've used my OG Elite controller since launch. Granted I had to mod/fix the thing less then 6 months after I bought it due to the absolute shit bumper design, and build quality. It still offered the customization, and ease of use (one you repaired it lol) that I recommended it. Best controller I've owned, and I collect em. It just had a major design flaw that was overlooked. Even with the best modded controllers on the market you can't get the in depth customization along with support.
As for the series 2... It's been 24 hours, and I can already tell this is everything the original one needed. The build quality alone is night, and day. It just feels super durable. The added Bluetooth/Battery/Full Mapping/extra steps/tension all fill in the gaps the original Elite left.
If you're gonna spend >100$ on a controller then dish out the extra 30$. That 30$ will give you so much more. This isn't like the iPhone where you're paying a premium for some gimmick this really feels like the controller of the future.
Edit: One more thing I wanted to add is that while the battery will eventually loose it's quality that there will most definitely be a way to replace it when that happens. I doubt it's gonna be an issue for quite a few years minus a few unlucky ones here, and there. Controllers don't use as much power as you think, and with the ability to tone down, or even eliminate the vibration, and LED lighting we'll probably be ready for a new controller by the time it becomes a hassle.
Here's to hoping my optimism isn't gonna bite me in the ass haha

  • @kosztaz87

The built-in battery on the new controller is a huge down side. The original AA solution was the perfect way to do it. You just bought some Eneloops and you had an easily replaceable battery system, that will never ever wear out, and can just swap it out whenever it runs out, and you don't want to stop playing.

After owning both. I will first say that i wanted them both to work. The concept is there. But the biggest issue with Xbox hardware. Is durability and longevity. Neither one held up over time for hard core gaming. First thing that went on both of them for me. Was the grips. They both started to peel. For some reason the elite series 2 had a cheaper feel. I kinda liked the way the 1 felt in my hands more plus the simplicity. But the 2 has more features and technology.

I’ve had the original for at least 5 YEARS. Used pretty much everyday for a couple hours. After about a year the grips start to come off. Sticks also started to feel a little loose. OVERALL the product was still very nice. So happy to have it. Still use it today but I’m getting the 2 in the mail soon. There is a learning curve but once you start to get the hang of it, you feel like a brand new gamer taking it to the next level. In FPSs at least! In its current state, after at least 5 years of gamer usage, it’s definitely ran its course and is scuffed af. no grips, moderate stick drift, original A and B buttons are loose and don’t always register. I dealt with it all and still was content. The final straw was the left stick click doesn’t always register now which can make u rage when you’re getting shot and can’t sprint away lol or slide 100% of the time. If the LS click was still 100 I honestly wouldn’t be pressed to get the 2, but, the time has come. 9.4/10 hopefully the 2 is a 10/10!

For anyone that sees this, I had the original elite controller for about 2 1/2 years. It never gave me any issues at all no stick drift no bumpers locking or paddles failing to work. For the most part over its life span I always had it plugged in with no batteries. The other day while watching a movie my controller started to glitch out turning on and off for a few minutes. I started to smell something burning which I later found out was coming from my controllers internal components frying. Not sure if it’s a common problem or because I’ve had it plugged in for so many months straight but now when I try to use it it only works if it has batteries and is plugged in which after a few minutes the smell comes back and the controller starts to heat up. BUT, if you’re looking to get an elite controller but are on the fence about the price I’ll tell you it is 150% worth it. It improved my gameplay in so many ways and made for a more enjoyable experience gaming. As soon as I can find a series 2 controller I’m buying it (they’re all sold out in my area of course). I fell in love with the original controller as soon as I got it and it’s very unnatural feeling trying to use a standard controller. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk :)

Then I got another controller and after a week I got stick drift and the bumper button came out after 2 months even though they said that they fixed the bumper problem and the A button stopped working. I’m going to probably buy a Xbox scuff or just use a normal Xbox one x controller because I’ve had no problems with the one x controller and I’ve had it since launch and have used it a lot. Some things that were good on the series 2 controller were the grips on the handles, Bluetooth so I can play mobile games with controller and changing thumb stick tension is great and profiles are extremely useful and the weight on the new elite controller gives the controller a robust and premium feel

**Please read my review because i explained the common issues that i had to face with the elite 1 controller. I know its a bit long but if will definitely give you my firsthand experience of long-term usage. **
Three issues that the video had mentioned but i want to give more information about them.
First, my elite 1 (LB) button broke down, so i had to buy an after market LB and RB buttons because they are one piece, so if one breaks you would have to change both of them, so you will open the controller and look at RUclips videos to show you how to change it properly, so you will have to open up my controller and then tried your best to make fit with the after market piece.
Second, the thumbs-sticks rubbers tears apart, so you would have to eventually buy an aftermarket thumbs-sticks (that is not rubber so it doesn’t tear up)
Third, and most importantly thing in my opinion is the grippes. After using it from 2016 till 2017 or 18, all rubber grippes ( the side and bottom) grippes has fallen, so you would also have to buy an after market grippes, (i only found the side grippes) which makes the newer version interesting because it is now just one piece interesting.
So basically these are my three issues with the elite 1 controller, so far. There are a couple of other miner issues but it is not worth mentioning.

Just don't want to run into those issues where the juice on the battery has died out, and have to constantly charge it because the battery life has shortened dramatically to a point where it's best to just leave it plugged in. If the plastic around the Xbox button is the same material as the bumpers and triggers, than the controller does not have bluetooth. If the Xbox button is surrounded by the same material as the controller's main body, than it has bluetooth.

Ashton.R. when you’re playing and the controller just moves itself into a certain direction (mostly stays the same, for example you will always have your character slowly walking sideways when not touching the stick)
      you could say its drifting
      thats stick drift :)

My X1 Elite came with a Gen1 and I bought an additional controller.
The only reason I bought the thing was for the short throw triggers.
Not having swappable batteries on the Gen2 is a dealbreaker. That basically says, "Once it breaks buy a new one." Gen1, I can just run Eneloop AAs and have a stash ready to go whenever.

    • @arcticsnow7505
      @arcticsnow7505 4 года назад +2

I dont think the problem was with the adhesive. The material wasnt very heat and sweat resistant, witch cause it to stretch and warp then eventually fall off. I'm hoping in series two they changes the material to be more durable in that sense.

There isnt that much of a difference between them. The small "upgrades" are things that shoulda just been updated with the original elite. If you live in Europe, the manufacturer warranty is 2 years when you register the controller on Microsoft's website. You just need the serial number that's on a label on the side of the box, then you can register it here: -

The rubber grips on my series 1 started peeling off so I bought new grips for $20 and replaced them. They snap off and on really easily. And I also bought the smaller series 2 paddles and use them on my series 1.They work much better without getting in the way. I've had mine for a few years now and everything else still works good. So I guess I'll keep it until it really breaks. Good video.
