    Here’s one thing about gripping capabilities of the Elite 2 controller - when the rubber is cold it doesn’t feel as grippy, but when you’ve used the controller a while or it’s just warm from ambient temperature the rubber seems to become more active in how well it grips. From my experience at least.

      I’m thinking for shooters with realistic gun mechanics/high recoil, tighter sticks will help to hold the sweet spot when pulling your gun down to control recoil. If you have very good recoil control, you’ll know what I mean. As someone who uses all 4 paddles, I’m thinking the new smaller paddles will help give your resting fingers more space to grip the controller. As the guy in the video says. Holding all 4 paddles can give an advantage in some aspects but make it less comfortable to hold and thus some disadvantages as well. These smaller paddles will probably be another subtle improvement

    • @mannyfresh7065
      @mannyfresh7065 4 года назад +3

      iXi SHOGUN iXi coming from the elite 1 to the elite 2 I can tell you I never accidentally touch the paddles. With the elite 1 I was forced to only use two paddles as I was always accidentally hitting them. It was that or hold it awkwardly. Now I hold it like I always have and never hit them by accident. It’s honestly a great improvement. This by far is my favorite controller and worth the upgrade!

    The failure point on the 1st gen paddles was in the circyuit board mounting points in the body of the controller. The longer paddles created a fulcrum point that put a lot of stress on the circuit board, eventually breaking off the screw mounting points.
    The upper vibration motors are in the actual triggers, so that's why they rattle so much.
    The LB broke in the 1st gen elite so much because of the green pairing button. Its position in the controller caused the plastic of the LB to bend and twist slightly, but just unnaturally enough that it eventually would brake at that point.

I had mine with box etc. so no problems. They will test it and then give you your discount. So for £79 to upgrade and get new with guarantee - pretty happy.

    I just picked up the series 2 controller and so glad I did. It’s such a nice upgrade for Modern warfare. I love the paddles and being able to reload, jump, crouch, and switch to my secondary gun without having to remove my right thumb off the thumb stick. So glad I went and paid the extra $25-$30 for the series 2 rather then the series 1. It was either get the series 1 controller used for $140 or the series 2 controller for $180, plus they bought my old controller for $30 and my old headset for $10 so I was able to pick up the new series 2 brand new for the same price as the used series 1 so it was a no brainer for me. Plus the series 2 new features like the extra trigger settings(series 1 only had 2 setting where the series 2 has 3 settings), I like the shorter paddles on series 2, the thumb stick tension adjustment on the series 2 is amazing for shooting games like COD:MW, and having the charger ok the series 2 is awesome. The charger is also removable from the case as well or you can leave the charger in the case land charge the controller inside of the case. All in all the few things they did to upgrade the series 2 makes it that much better and worth the extra $40 bucks in my opinion. Hands down the best controller on the market for Xbox One in my opinion.

      The paddle design on the original was awful. It takes zero pressure and I would get accidental presses all the time, so I swapped to the scuf paddles on the elite and it was amazing how a different layout radically changed and solved the problem... but that won’t be possible on the new one because of the enclosed battery, and I haven’t seen a single other video discuss this like he’s done here, and it’s the info I wanted!

    • @agnostic1247
      @agnostic1247 4 года назад +6

      The paddles on the first led me to only use the 2 smallest. They got caught on so much and setting the controller down hit the paddles. I got a Razer Wolverine Ultimate Tournament because the design is much better ergonomically. Elite 1 is used for certain games. After a day’s use of Elite v2, it is much better. It will improve aspects of your game slightly. However, it is a big price tag for a controller. You could get 3 regular controllers. Feel bad for spending, but it is next gen compatible, not hard to justify if you play a lot.

    I owned a series 1 and bought the series 2 on release day. I love the additional customization on S2, but one thing I didn’t like is the paddles. I don’t mind the stiffness of the paddles when pressing them in, but the paddles themselves are WAY TO SMALL. Luckily they still designed S2 with the possibility of using S1 paddles. I immediately swapped out the S2 for S1 paddles and I now can’t say anything bad about the controller. Worth the $$$. Highly recommend.

    Great review! Just a heads up, that new "oval" cable is a USB Type-C cable, while the Series 1 Elite used the Micro USB cable (which is standard across all other xbox one controllers). The reason for this I believe is the next generation Xbox Scarlett will utilize USB C for it's peripherals and they wanted the Series 2 Elite to carry over to (and have unity with) the new generation of controllers.

    I didn't have an Elite 1 but my son has but in comparison i think the textured grip on E2 is way better, don't find it slippery at all.

    This is very true tho, I got my elite Monday because I pre ordered it and I’m still not sure if I want to return it or not, the paddles are really stiff but I feel like I will get used to that but the thing that bothers me is even when I put the elite 2 on the loosest tension the right thumb stick still feels stiffer and harder to move than on the original elite, which for me is bad because I play on linear and the stick being stiff in the beginning makes it feel a bit like exponential and harder to hit flicks. Great video though you explained everything really well.

    I JUST got mine a couple hours ago. Initial impressions? This thing is INCREDIBLY well built! Solid, with steel components for things like the joysticks, where plastic is used in cheaper models. I find the texture of the grips and the triggers feels GREAT, and I LOVE how customizable it is! First things i did were to swap the "Disco ball" with a proper D-pad, and swapped the sticks for the 360 style ones...also adjusted the stick tension to max and put the triggers on the middle stop. Played a little Jedi: Fallen Order, then had a good run in Spelunky to test the dpad (which is by far the best dpad I have ever used!). I already LOVE the feel of this controller, if the durability holds up, this will be well worth the money I spent.

    Microsoft replaced my original Elite controller THREE times in the last couple years. Twice it was out of warranty, but the local Microsoft Store people are way more forgiving (thank god). Anyway, on two of them, the sticks started drifting pretty badly, even had a total dead zone. Then the rubber grips became unglued and started peeling off.
    Regarding the peeling rubber, thankfully there is a decent aftermarket of parts on Amazon, so I found replacement grip pieces really cheap, and indistinguishable from the original parts. The rubber grips just snap right off so it’s easy to replace.
    To address the stick drift and dead zone issues, I believe the issue is caused by pushing the stick buttons over time. So I remapped the stick buttons to the rear paddles, and I have not experienced any stick issues for about a year now. Another advantage is that way easier on your thumbs when you don’t have to keep mashing or holding the sticks down.
    It’s hard to justify the cost of these, because they clearly have some quality issues. Even the thumbsticks rubber tops wear out pretty fast. Also I’m really disappointed that the Elite 1 thumbsticks aren’t compatible with the Elite 2!! What the heck is that?

  • @juliodavid49

    I've had the first Elite controller for a few years now and it still works great. Trypal is it possible for you to transfer the small paddles/new paddles onto the old controller and having it work? Also is it possible to buy the paddle separately from the new Jen or no?

      Elmin Lozic I would assume you can’t buy them individually, but you might get lucky finding an individual selling them

    Time for me to start saving up lol. Thanks Trypal, btw should I switch to linear or stay on exponential for fortnite?

    • @Trypal_YT

      Joyousツ seems like linear is becoming the better sens if you can get used to it, but I haven’t looked into it enough to give you a definitive answer

    10:50 for those who don’t know their cable types, the old elite controller uses micro usb while the series 2 uses usb type c. That’s the same cable that most android phones use as well as Apple’s newer MacBooks and the iPad Pro and also the switch.

    Thanks! Searching and looking a lot of videos because im curious if the series1 thumbsticks will fit series2. My prefered setup on s1 is the medium length dome thumbsticks on both. So comfortable. Bummer they only included one in s2. But it is ridged and that i think is big improvement. But the new classic with bigger surface seems nice too.

    • @ericb.6864
      @ericb.6864 4 года назад +1

      So they're not compatible, my setup on series 1 was also both domed. Now I'm using the dome on left for movement for thumb comfort when constantly moving. 360 classic on right for aiming

      Eric B. I’m running those on series 2 also. Too bad my thumbsticks are loose and have big physical deadzone... Did not have that issue at all on my series 1 after 8 months of daily. use. I will be contacting xbox support about this.

    The biggest flaw is that only the original controller had hinged LB RB. All other controllers use a thin bridge joining the buttons. A thin plastic bridge that breaks simply because pressing the button requires bridge to bend a little. Use those buttons a lot or drop it and expect them to be loose and falling out.
    The reason for the change is so you can press on the R L buttons anywhere and they will work. The hinged design will not work if you press the buttons closer to the top due to that is where the hinge pivots. My complaint is the cheap fix they used to solve this.
