The issue with selling it to another VIP is that "flying bunker" line they mentioned in the video. If it's fitted with ECM, chaff/flare and other systems, there's even more weight for stuff 99.99% of people would never need.
If Mexico paid $110M to Boeing, before, custom work, then it shouldn’t be one of the teens, those could have been bought cheap, and would have made good VIP jets, which rarely fly heavy, so a few extra tons is no big deal

He dumped a world class, half built airport with 6 runways just to build a smaller one, with only two runways, at double the distance from Mexico City, and in the process spending more than what it would take to finish the first one. Not to mention that he intends to keep two other nearby airports functioning at the same time… connections in Mexico City will be a hell of an experience.

This also means that the aircraft is part of the "terrible teens" meaning it’s heavier and reduces its range even further. I believe they are around 6 tons heavier, but don't quote me on that. 3) Its currently got a weird configuration due to it being used as a presidential aircraft, and would be expensive to reconfigure into a more useful configuration. In addition, it probably has many systems you don't need seeing as it was configured to be used as a flying "bunker" making it even heavier. Therefore, even if you leave it as is and use it as a private aircraft, it would be uneconomical to use. Yeeeah, this aircrafts next stop is the boneyard... Edit#1: The only thing its got going for it, is that it has the GE engines instead of the Trent 1000

In the beginning the GEnX was less reliable (engines lasted less than a year) but revisions have made it more reliable than the Trent 1000 engines. Even though GE engines are more expensive to buy, they're often cheaper to maintain as Rolce Royce only allows their own maintenance personnel to maintain them. While GE engines can be maintained, replaced and rebuilt at other authorized shops and Base Maintenance organisations.

I was looking at FlightRadar 24 when AMLO had a trip to Villahermosa Tabasco. The government flew a military 737NG, two Gulfstreams, and a SuperPuma helicopter to Villahermosa if I recall correctly. AMLO doesn't fly comercial anymore because his policies have greatly afected comercial airtravel and crews often harrass him and mock him. It's also a massive safety risk for passengers and himself. So I'm glad he's not using comercial anymore, he mostly uses the military 737's, we have four or so.

Not true. The plane is leased until 2027. They don't own it. The purpose of selling the plane under the option to buy clause in the lease to a buyer is to get out of the future lease payments and maintenance on a plane they don't own saving them millions in future costs.
These presidential jets are usually fitted with extra communication equipment and "command rooms" which they'd have no use for and would have to be taken out or disabled(for security). Either way carrying hundreds of kilos of useless weight or having to pay tens of millions on top of the 140 would be a worse deal than just buying a new jet
Leases have an option to buy clause. It would be cheaper to sell the aircraft to a buyer using the option to buy clause which would end the lease payments which otherwise they have to pay until 2027.

Realistically, they should lease it to Aeromexico business travel division, because they the only ones with the equipment and facilities to keep the jet in optimal condition since they're the only airline here that uses Dreamliners. It has been heavily modified and not attractive for commercial use, as said in the video. I guess it would cost even more than just sell it.

Realistically, they should lease it to Aeromexico business travel division, because they the only ones with the equipment and facilities to keep the jet in optimal condition since they're the only airline here that uses Dreamliners. Reconfiguring it isn't really an option since it would just be as expensive as it was to install everything to begin with
