CRJs are a little less comfy to sit it but still ahead from A320s and B737s. The A220 is a very modern approach. Quieter in comparison to the older jets but not as comfy as CRJs and E-Jets. I haven't been on an E2-Jet and most likely want to fly in one of them.
I much prefer flying on the embraer jets than the bombadier ones. Particularly the E175 vs the CRJ-700 or 900. The E175 is much more comfortable, at least in my experience
I recently flew with a Beechcraft 1900 in Colombia and it was far more exiting than a regular flight in an Airbus or Boeing plane. You just felt what it takes and feels like to proper fly
My favorite is the BAe 146. It looks like something out of a cartoon because of the ridiculous size of its engines compared to the fuselage. I have flown on it twice, it has a nice, stable ride but, like a Jeep, it can take a beating. Maybe that's why Swiss International relies on them for commuter flights over the Alps...
@Jaylen Jackson Nice! I live on the Approach point of Rwy 17 down here in Philly. Most of the time I see American Eagle and Private jets. Sometimes I see Delta Connection, United (both Mainline & Express), Southwest & Cargo Airlines. But what I like is that they use Rwy 17 (about 6000ft) if the weather condition is bad such as winds & rough waters near the airport.
Quiet!? Compared to older turboprops maybe, but it's still far louder than a jet. Never particularly liked flying on the Q400. It's particularly unpleasant if you're in one of the seat rows near the engines (8-12ish?) not only because of the noise but because of how the high wing and engine pods block your view.
I love it as well; it made me very sad to hear that Alaska will be phasing out their Horizon Air Q400s. Still, it will be a long process, so I hope to get the chance to fly on it again.
I hate flying on the 1400, personally. The cabin is noisy and cramped plus the cabin pressurization isn't super reliable. Maybe I've had bad experiences, but one of the people I was flying with even had their eardrum swell because the pressurization was incorrect.
As a ramp agent, I love the embraer 175. Low enough you can close cargo nets standing on the ground, door for the bin is in the middle of the bin making stacking easier, and it has a vent inside the bin that blasts air in to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. CRJ aircraft require a special handrail that we have 1 of but we don't get those at my airport. They say the 737 is low to make ground servicing easier but it doesn't do that. You can't close the bin doors from outside without a very tall guy or a belt loader, you can't close the nets without a belt loader, and being low gets in the way of walking underneath. Long live embraer!
The A220-300 is my favorite. I see them flying a lot with Air Canada and with the range to go from Montreal to Vancouver they are not just short range.
I certainly would like to see a large Canadian carrier like Air Canada to purchase planes made in its own country. Air Canada did buy Embraer's in the past but has chosen not to replace them with E2-!95's, even though the E2 is supposedly quieter and less fuel burn & in price, it's range is not the same as the A220.
Favourites are the ATR and E175/195, the Embraer is a wonderful plane, smooth and in the right hands can be landed to perfection (*Italian Chef Kiss"), only annoyance is how damn loud the APU is! The ATR is (IMO) a better plane than the Dash 8, as it's simpler (doesn't have/need an APU, engines can start off batteries if needed and do not need bleed air, mechanical flight controls etc ) and more economical on shorter routes. It also has both Bulk Loading and ULD freight variants. However its lower crosswind limits due to the gear position do make it a little less suited to rough environments, it needs to be parked facing into wind (due to the flight controls and potential damage), and it's more liable to tip during boarding due to the rear door.

Thank you very much for this very informative overview of the Regional-Jet-Market. I´m missing Saab - which isn´t of course an aircraft producer anymore, but was an important aircraft producer: the Saab 340 and the Saab 2000 are still in operation in many countries.
True. I heard the 2000 was so sophisticated that it could take off even if one prop failed in midflight! I've seen a demonstration video from Saab. My jaw hit the floor. The pilot clearly shut off one engine and it still took off.
@@largol33t1 The Saab 2000 has the reputation to be the most advanced Turboprob ever built. Unfortunately only a few numbers were sold, it was an economic failure which caused Saab from leaving the sphere of aircraft producers. The reasons for that are difficult to describe, mostly it is stated that the Saab 2000 was too expensive and advanced for most of the traditional Turboprob operating airlines while the other airlines choosed to buy regional jets instead of a turboprob. So the much more traditional Saab 340 in its both versions A and B was in opposite to the Saab 2000 and also the ATR 42 and 72 as much as the Dash 8 were huge economic successes, all of them much more traditional turboprobs. So it´s unfortunately also a story that the best and most modern technology doesn´t make always the race at the customers.
@@hdjdco5428 Embraer manufactures military and business aircraft for a few decades, the most well known are the A29 super tucano, A-1 AMX (partnership with italian company Alenia Aeronautica), E-99 (radar plane) and the KC-390, for business there are several planes such as the small phenom 100, the legacy and praetor families to the luxurious lineage 1000.
Surprised to not see comments about United's CRJ-550. I really like the look of that one, huge first class seats, tons of bag storage, and lots of comfort+ seating. Looks like a plane really centered around premium comfort.
In a couple weeks I’ll be flying on a CRJ-900 and then an E-175 a few days later. I have never flown on a regional jet so I’m excited and interested to see which one I will enjoy more.
Would you please start adding 'miles' equivalent to kilometers in your graphics? I really enjoy your videos, by I am no darn good at converting km to mi on the fly when so much info is going by and I like to compare an aircraft's range. Or at least stick to Nautical Miles which is used in the cockpit... Not to mention that I believe ATC uses Feet... Gads how I wish the US had adapted Metric way back when.
I just divide “kilometers” by 2. So, 100 kilometers/2 is about 50 miles. It is not perfect, but one can get a general idea of the range of an aircraft by doing this simple computation.
@@TheRtHonPMSirLDOBSON true, bombardier design this airplane for competing against embraer on this category. But now being part of airbus and the size of the aircraft it's out of the category. I have fly on all of them (except a220) and can tell you that the ERJ 145 has the most smooth ride of them all
@Andreas Bula Fair Enough, being part of airbus is completely irrelevant and doesn't put the plane in a different category, it just puts it under a different name and sticker. I'll admit however that the size does, given the maximum capacities of the A220 is over twice that of the 145's. I can tell you that the the A220 has a beautiful smooth ride however I can't compare the smoothness to a 145.

I have flown on many planes and I prefer narrow body aircraft! For mainline I love the B727-200 ! Regional airlines I have loved all the fleet types ! From the Jetstream J31 to the Atr 72 ! Having said all that the Embraer E175 is a fantastic aircraft and is my favorite regional !
If you’re wondering why suddenly sold all of their aviation programs, Dash 8, CRJ, CS/A220; its because they had been receiving bailout loans from Canadian federal and provincial governments. Being from Quebec, running an honest business and actually turning a profit is a completely foreign concept to them. So instead of repaying loans they couldn’t afford because they were still losing money, they just pawned the problem and programs off on other companies, and pocketed the difference.
Sukhoi's biggest problem was that it had a "military mindset" when it came with the SSJ-100. Interjet could not get any parts for the SSJ-100 when they broke down (They would stay grounded for weeks) simply because Sukhoi did not manufacture any spare items in abundance. Interjet was forced to cann off items on one broken bird just to make others airworthy. When I meant by military mindset, I meant the philosophy of fixing your birds (Su-25s, Su-27s) etc to the bare minimum with little or no support out in the field... That mindset is a no go in the civilian world.
@@raisedahell5165 Well, the CRJ is nice. Not familiar with the ATR42, but the DASH 8-400 is a sardine can. I was on one two weeks ago and they put another big guy next to me. We both had our arms pinned to our sides and overlapping onto our stomachs. The seats are stiff and straight without comfort in mind at all. Fortunately, they moved me back a row to an empty row, but that trip would not have been pleasant!
Embraer 190 is the king of the regionals. I have 7000 hours PIC time on this variant across Canada and it’s without a doubt one of the most capable aircraft I’ve ever flown in The sub100 seat market.
Regional aircraft are cheaper because in general most operators of them do not pay their staff the same pay scale but much less than main line carriers. Turbo props are also so fuel efficient they save quite a bit on that expense.
Turboprops always have far superior fuel efficiency to ANY existing regional jet. I really wish GE dominated the regional turboprop market! That being said, I personally very much like regional turbofan-powered aircraft specifically because they have GE power 😍😍😍 isn't it something, the E-Jet is far more popular with passengers than the CRJ - and both use CF34-8 turbofans that are 87% the same! As concerns turboprops, many people in the comments here seem to really dislike the Dash 8, and many of their complaints have to do with the airframe side of things, which suggests that the manufacturer (De Havilland Canada) isn't quite as good as Canadair, the manufacturer of the CRJ. Finally, it must be explained that turboprops ARE jets because the propellers are literally powered by jet engines. When will people finally realize this basic fact!
You kind of forgot the a318/319/320/321 when you talked about Regional Jets.. It's obviously a competitor to the CRJ 900 & CS300 from Bombardier, and the ARJ190 & 195 from Embraer. Boeing doesn't offer a Regional Jet.
Always thought crj was the best looking until the c/a220. Was on an erj 10+ years ago, surprised at how comfortable it was and the steep landing we did was too fun. Never been on another regional :(
My favorites were the legacy turbo-props. I'm 6' 4" (193 cm) and I have legroom issues on regional gets. However, most turboprops that I've been on have plenty of legroom.

Embraer became 3rd largest aircraft manufacturer with the help of regional jets.
I thought they ONLY make regional jets. Idk correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!
They started as military plane manufacturer.
I have flown on Ambreir in bad weather several times and felt safe, just on that alone I think is the best out of the list.
Really? I really didn’t fell like that! Hahaha
Surprised to not see comments about United's CRJ-550. I really like the look of that one, huge first class seats, tons of bag storage, and lots of comfort+ seating. Looks like a plane really centered around premium comfort.
Love the mini documentaries by Long Haul by Simple Flying.
I fly on Azimuth Airlines SSJ100 twice every month, I actually like the SSJ! quiet, clean and gets me there without feeling squashed or uncomfortable
In a couple weeks I’ll be flying on a CRJ-900 and then an E-175 a few days later. I have never flown on a regional jet so I’m excited and interested to see which one I will enjoy more.
Which one *did* you enjoy more?
My favorite is the B.A.E 46 4 engine JET a wonderful air craft !!!!❤
I think I had to use a regional jet once from Chicago to NYC?
But I have also been on a full-size narrowbody jet from Leeds to Amsterdam.
the best one of them is the Embraer ERJ 145.
Why? A220/C Series is better. Go fact-check that.
Although I do agree with you--I love the A220--his statement was an opinion; not something that needs to be fact-checked
I have worked on ERJ 145, the ERJ 175, CRJ 200, 700, and 900 and by far the ERJ 145 is the biggest POS out of all of them...
In My Small City In Mexico, Merida, Before All Aeromexico Planes Where Aeroméxico Connect Regional Jets. Today, Most Flights Are Operated By 737-800s But One That Departs In The Super Early Morning (Like At 6:00 AM) And Another One That Arrives Late At Night (Like 10-11 PM) Are On Regional Jets.
Edit: RIP Interjet. We Will Miss You In Mexico. I Have Never Flown On Interjet’s Suhoki.
Bravísimo video, gracias.
Gracias!
The ERJs 145s and ERJs 170 175 and CRJs 200 700 and 900 I consider my favorite
im an aircraft mechanic and a frequent flyer , i love the CRJ 900 among all the regionals. never worked on embrarers or CRJs though
If looks mattered, the CRJ-900 would win every time. Especially in the NextGen promo livery or any of the Global Express models.
@@EstorilEm the next gens are very nice planes from the interiors for sure
Looking very nice.
"fly from a small rural or remote community" - showing an airBerlin plane in the first picture XD
:-))
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ being amazed by your content
Thanks Pavithra!

@@nagalakshmi8894 Your name made me believe that RUclips had gone haywire.
😂 that's why I kept it like that
If you’re wondering why suddenly sold all of their aviation programs, Dash 8, CRJ, CS/A220; its because they had been receiving bailout loans from Canadian federal and provincial governments.
16:49 my favourites are CRJ 200, ATR42 and Dash 8-400
Jeez, really?
@@kenmore01 why not, friendo?
It's very simple for me. I am a very big fan of the DHC-8-400, so it's the canadian Turboprop
That's a Copyrighted Video. It's Long-Haul by Simple Flying.
As a Canadian, great to see Bombardier and De Havilland up there! too bad bombardier went bankrupt :(
Regional aircraft are cheaper because in general most operators of them do not pay their staff the same pay scale but much less than main line carriers.
I like the CRJ line of aircraft :)
Amazing content 💯
Interesting that the new breed of regional jets have the same seating capacity as the 1970 era B727 100 and the DC9.
I like the embraer e-jet.
which regional turbojet is the best?
is there a way to use the thumbnail without any text? it looks amazing. (note I’m gonna use it for wallpaper nothing to do with copyright etc.)
Loved those beautiful ATR's.
I think that the Dash 8 and the ATR's are the perfect choice for regional airlines.
If you are a turboprop or regional jet avgeek come to nepal and fly domestic flights
I've only flown on a E175 and it's a little cramp. Will be flying on a 717 this Summer. Interested how it will feel
Embraer is the best. Wide cabin, confortable seat and quiet plane. The pilots also say it's the easiest to land
You kind of forgot the a318/319/320/321 when you talked about Regional Jets.. It's obviously a competitor to the CRJ 900 & CS300 from Bombardier, and the ARJ190 & 195 from Embraer.
Boeing doesn't offer a Regional Jet.
The A220 is, by far, the best regional jet on the market right now. And will stay that way for years to come!
It’s only a regional jet by size
The E195-E2 will change that
The original Dash 8 is my favourite aircraft of all time. Bombardier have really disappointed me how they let ATR get ahead without a fight.
I like the E175.
I have used ATR72a couple of times in range of 700 kms. Probably the best option for high altitude city with less traffic equipment in airport.
Last week I was on a Fokker 50 in Kenya, and also on a Dash8-100. It was a very different experience compared to the usual Airbus and Boeing planes.
Embraer makes the best looking regional aircraft and they just seem roomier
