    Just finished fixing moonroof on my 2012 f-350 superduty king ranch. This video saved me a lot of stress and money. Estimates for repairs were anywhere between $2000 a guess till o brought it in to $3800. It wasn’t a easy job but with the video it was like taking a test with the answers already written in. Thanks for your video!!

      @@tonyscarcare5657 well with videos like this I’m sure your percentage of how the video was found is mostly by search function not by home page. That’s how the majority of mine are always, found by search not necessarily by people just browsing. To me that’s the better way since people will always be searching vs the video getting put up once and then people scroll by it and that’s it. Either way just keep it up you have a very calming and thorough way of explaining which is exactly how I learn best. I’ll be having your video pulled up step by step once these parts come in next week. I fully get the work that goes into this RUclips thing!

    I am pretty mechanically inclined and for me, I just need to see something done once and then I have the confidence to move on it. Interior stuff has always mortified me. “Is it safe to pop that cover off?” “Are there hidden screws that I’m going to miss, think it’s just a clip, and then bust the crap out of it if I pull to hard?” Yeah… freaks me out.
    This video was fantastic! And the fact you did this job by yourself while filming… most impressive. I am definitely going to tackle this project on my ‘08 F350 Dually… but I’m going to wait for cooler weather! It’s dead summer here in Southern Idaho and getting into the high 90’s every day.

    Such a great video. I ordered my parts off of Amazon though. The kit I got had 2 left cable slides. Of course my truck looks like a Lego explosion and can’t put it back together. Of course it has been raining for a couple days so I have had a tarp over the sunroof hole. Ok new parts are here and putting everything back together. It sure doesn’t seem like it is sliding as easy as it should. Each piece by itself does but when you assemble them I can barely pull the cable. Something is wrong do t ya think? I think with the glass in it will keep it aligned. I lubed it really really well and cleaned all the tracks like you said. Am I just being a big chicken? We don’t lube the cable at all right? 2008 FORD F 450 CREW - I had to take all the seats out the front and just lay headliner on the floor - I tried to do this method and no matter it was super tight on rear door - i was afraid it was going to smash the edges too bad on the headliner - if you leave it inside sitting on floor then you dont have to manhandle it back into the cab -and the moonroof will still come out the door over the headliner - easier to take out the seats in my situation

    Tony, I just finished performing this project on a 2012 F150 (Lariat) and followed your directions to a "t". In fact, I watched two different versions of your videos for completeness sake. The problem that I am still having is that when I hit the "Tilt" button, it will tilt but then automatically come back down. When I hit the "Slide" button, it will tilt and automatically come back down. It now seals which is good given that I could not even close the moon roof, but with all the time I spent, I was hoping to get it back to working conditions. Any suggestions? Maybe raise or lower the glass slightly?

    • @tonyscarcare5657

      You can see where the 4 moonroof screws and washers were tightened down originally. Look closely and make sure they are in the original spots. Then, hold the moonroof switch in the open position until it makes a jump back and forth. That should recalibrate the motor.

I was using a pick and pulling the broken slide towards the closed position and it would only come so far then return to the open position. I am a professional tech (a look at me watching RUclips right?) and I have a professional scan tool and all. I’m sure I can figure it out but while I’m here. Also I just left the headliner in the cab and got a coworker to help me with the sunroof frame. With my luck I will put a wrinkle in the fabric somehow that won’t straighten out. I believe the assembly will, but it's wired totally different.

    Do you have a video showing repairing the rear sliding window?

    • @tonyscarcare5657
      @tonyscarcare5657  Год назад +1

      No, I'm sorry I do not. I have done it, though, and back then, you had to replace everything. They didn't sell parts separately. I'm sure it's still that way.

    I have a 2012 Ford F150 Platinum. My sunroof stuck in the open position. Tried to close it with no luck. I am at the point of removing the assy. 4 bolts left and down it comes.
    What kind of problems am I going to run into when I reassemble?

    Is there a way to get that cloth piece out without pulling the whole thing.
    I got stuck working on one of these.

    • @tonyscarcare5657
      @tonyscarcare5657  Год назад +1

      You have to do it just like I show. If you have extra hands to help you, you may get by with letting it lay on the seats.

      Well we pulled it. After removing the center brace. Set it on the table held down the frame and flexed the cardboard piece to pop it out of the 1/4" deep channel.
      Had to re-upholster the headliner.

      @@aired-downdisconnected4125 I really don't understand what you mean. I've rebuilt countless numbers of these moonroofs and have never had to re-apholster the headliner. Did you remove the passenger seat and do everything like I did?

      Try holding the switch in the open position until it makes a jump. Then it should be calibrated.

    Does anyone know... So he said the rebuild kit is $109 from the manufacturer. I've seen these on Amazon from $25 to $80. Is there something different about them? Is there a reason to get it from the manufacturer?

      I've had customers bring me those cheap ones, and they are so lightweight that there's no comparison to the ones from the Sunroof Dr.
