1977 Ford Country Squire Final For Dearborn, Truck Problems, & An Awesome Airb&b 1916 Ford Home
What a special lady to enjoy and old Ford wagon.
Thank you, Sir!
Hey Tony got another 77 marquis question for you. My dome light and courtesy lights turn on when the door handle is lifted or the door us open but the two halo key lights are not lighting up. I took the door panels off to see if it was just burnt out bulbs but for the life of me I can see where the bulb goes. Do I have to completely remove the lock assembly to access ghe bulb? Many thanks in advance.
There are no bulbs. They are a risited 12v LED. The resistor it either bad or the LED is bad. I think you can find the resistors, but otherwise, you'd need to find a new lock set. Sorry, I don't have better news for you. I'm hoping to get some illuminated entry videos done eventually.
@tonyscarcare5657 are the resistors inside the key housing, thanks again for all the help. Greatly appreciate it. Love the new videos of that crown vic wagon.
Thank you! They are in the wire between the lock cylinder and the plug.
I had a 89 Country Squire LX wagon with the faux wood grain. I had it until 2004. I loved that car. When I gave it up it had 181,000mi. It still started rt up every day and it ran and drove beautifully. I miss that car unfortunately you can't keep them all. I need a lower mileage one. Plus my wood grain was peeling in spots and the paint was getting thin in spots. However it's so nice to see yours on the road with you giving it the best of care. Lastly if it were me I'd give her a new paint job, but that's just me. Enjoy best of luck.
Thank you very much! I think a proper paint job would cost way too much.
@tonyscarcare5657 I both understand that and respect your feelings. I hope that mom and dad are as over their terrible accident as can be. We love our cars, but you can replace a car you can never replace parents.
They are doing pretty well. Thank you!
Thanks Tony and Tina. It’s satisfying to fix up those small items that make a big difference. Re the patina. Please don’t clear coat it. To me that looks so fake. Better to just put a wax over the original paint if you are not going to repaint it but please don’t do the fake clear coat. 👍
Thanks, Mark. It would take a lot of wet sanding and buffing to get any shine back at all.
@ It would be interesting to try a small patch. Some very fine steel wool with soapy water.
Tony, I hope Tina and her family get decades more enjoyment from their wagon. We also learned for these delicate electrical repairs, it's all about choosing the right hammer and chisel . 😉
🤣😂🤣😂 thanks, buddy! She's reading the comments.
🏁Thanks Tony that was a great video!! 🇺🇲🏁🏁🏁😎🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
You're welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I can tell from this video that this car had the optional trailer tow package from the white 325 flasher. The trailer tow package had a set of relays in the rear of the wagon to power the trailer lights without adding load to the fixed-load turn signal circuit. The 325s were rated slightly higher fixed load to account for the relay load so flash rate was correct. Cars without the trailer tow package likely came with the familiar yellow 323 flasher. Some cars without the trailer tow package came with the 325 if they had the higher wattage signal 2357NA/3357NA bulbs up front. Ford used that lamp in a lot of vehicles after about 1985.
I'm not sure. Here's a video that has the original window sticker, showing the options it was ordered with. I don't remember that being listed. 👇 ruclips.net/video/M3b5tZd7uJQ/видео.htmlsi=bcxvKUBXDYdNSjib
@@tonyscarcare5657 OK. I remember finding a lot of the 325s in those Panthers. It probably had to do with the bulb in the front signal. If it was the 28W 2357 or 3357, they would have used the 325. They may have put 325s in all the vehicles regardless.
Harbor Freight has a bit set that comes in a red box that has that security bit
Thank you! I'll check it out.
Most Fords have these. The T-bird I owned had these nylon bushings for the accelerator and TV cable that cracked and fell apart. Left me stranded for a weekend at a friends house until they opened Monday. Very important to never drive with these missing!
Yep. Replace them with the metal one and be done with it.
Tony Great Video, car looks amzing
Thank you! 🙂
cool
Hi Tony, it is fun to see that Tina also seems to like working with her car, and naturally to se how good you are with working with cars. Greetings from Sweden.👍👍
Thank you! She is really enjoying getting it fixed up.
Own an 05 Signature myself, also love an 89 because of the amber markers and 302!
Awesome! Thank you!
Just subbed, happy your parents are ok, so they bought you this one for the burgundy interior one!
Welcome, and thank you! No, the white with Burgundy is mine as well. I've had it 15 years. I bought this one for myself because I don't like taking my other one on trips. Mom and dad bought the black, nicely optioned base model and the Pastel Adobe one. Here is a video of theirs. 👇 ruclips.net/video/j_xOctrleNc/видео.htmlsi=A3vlLd7F9tCb7Zmy
The blue oval could probably be taken from the trunk lid of a 92 or newer CV
Thanks! We'll check some of those out.
😀
These cars had faulty ignition switches know to start fires. I would replaced it personally. I got that special tool at Autozone
Honestly, I've probably had more of these cars than anyone and put hundreds of thousands of miles on them and have never had that happen. I've heard of it.
I believe theres was a recall on them in the 90s
Hmmm. It's so weird that I've never had the problem myself.
Sucks we don't have a junkyard on Maui, need body parts for my 05 Signature, new parts are crazy expensive, junkyards on Oahu don't ship parts off island, and my brother in law just retired from a body shop!
Sounds like you need to make a trip over here.
Reminds me of working on my 85 police LTD, nice wagon, subbed!
Thanks again for imparting some self-confidence to the do-it-yourself folks out in RUclips land. I enjoy seeing someone learn and feel good about what they’ve been able to do. See you next time!
You're welcome. Thank you so much, Michael!
Cadvalier 🤣🤣🤣
🤣😂🤣😂
@tonyscarcare5657 another good one is Cavillac
🤣😂🤣😂
It's strange ... as soon as you played with that ignition module and the chime started dinging, I had an instant recall of my mother's 91 Crown Vic (with that same blue interior) and instantly could remember the smell of that interior. My parents bought that car in 91 as a "program vehicle" and kept it until 04 when they got a brand new Grand Marquis (which my mother still has).
That's cool. She probably liked the 91 better than the newer one.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Probably ... I'll have to ask. I know I liked the 91 Crown Vic better than her current Grand Marquis. But my dad picked the 91 Crown Vic out and called her and told her to bring the checkbook down to the dealership. It was white, with a white top and blue interior. They had it for 13 years. When they got the 2004 Grand Marquis, he let my mom pick out the one she wanted ... color and all (light blue with a light gray cloth interior) ... so I think she likes it because it was the only car they had that she got to pick out. She still has it and it has 55K miles on it now.
Well, that makes sense, then.
Those problems you think may be big are really small when you know what your doing!
That's very true!
Love that old wagon. I’m kinda new to your channel and was wondering if Tina is your wife. She’s a good worker and you gotta love a woman that’s into working on cars with ya!
Thank you! She's not my wife, but she's always up for anything I asked of her! 😁
Tony, if she wants to keep the patina, Derek over at Vice Grip Garage has his very own, I think it's called "Shine Juice" that he sells for this type of thing. 🙂🇨🇦
Thank you! I've seen that one, too. I wonder how different the two are.
@tonyscarcare5657 I've seen Derek use it in a few videos of his with great results. He also sells a wipe on clear coat that works well too. Both products he developed himself.
I've seen his as well as Popy Patina. Honestly, they both luck the same. It will probably come down to price. Thank you very much for your input. Much appreciated!
Really is nice to get all those little problems taken care of, too nice of a car to have those, really makes you feel better after you get it done
That's true, Dave. If people would get things fixed as they gone bad, they wouldn't all pile up like this. However, clearly, someone didn't know what they were doing with this one. They sure messed some things up!
Great fun indeed!
Thank you!
Nothing feels quite so nice as taking care of little details...
That's for sure.
Very handsome front end.!!
Thank you! I agree.
@tonyscarcare5657 can't wait to see your upcoming repairs on lincolns.!
Thank you! I'm ready to get started. I've just been so busy with regular shop work.
Car is looking great
Thank you!
Ill see what I can find at our junkyards. I haven't seen a wagon forever
Thank you! They're pretty much all gone.
The earlier illuminated entry system modules had a circuit feed for a black w/Dk blue stripe ( for the dome light illumination feed ) and separate circuit for a black w/Pink stripe ( for the illuminated key lock cylinders )… so when you lifted the door handles from 77-82, and left the doors OPEN, the interior lights would stay on, but the lock cylinder lights would shut off. In 1983, they combined the circuit into one function, so that the key lock light rings would operate identically to the interior lights.. the key lock lights would stay lighted as long as the doors were open…and even if the car doors were all closed, and you turned the interior lights on with the headlight switch, the key lock lights would illuminate. As time went on, they just combined the interior lights and key lock lights into one wire circuit and discontinued the former black w/ pink stripe wire to the module. The tiny things in life! LOL
I figured it was something dumb. The D7AZ module worked just fine in it for over a week. I didn't pay any attention to the doorlock halos.
I was upset when they removed the two thermal relays from the front cornering lamp circuits when each ford product got redesigned with the drivers side airbags from 90-on. I love the delay function when the cornering lights stay on for 3-4 seconds after the turn signal switch canceled. Wired them into the wiring harness on my 91 Colony Park.
I know. That's one thing that made them so unique.
@@LincolnRay I agree. My mother had a 91 Crown Vic with cornering lamps and I didn't like the only-when-headlamps-on function of them. I had a 94 Mercury Sable that I wired relays into the cornering lamps for the delay function. I also added factory cornering lamps into my current 84 Buick Electra Estate Wagon and had to use the Ford cornering lamp relays because the wiring was not present underhood. So I now have the delay function on my Estate Wagon.
That's awesome! You sound like me! I used a Ford illuminated entry module when adding the option to a Chrysler Cordoba because Chrysler used GM parts, and they were junk.
I haven't checke it out for myself but Puddin's Fab Shop ,Vise Grip Garage are big patina advocates and they might have products to help you out .
Vice grip garage shine juice works good on paint
Thanks! I've seen that one as well.
Makes me miss my 85 crown Vic the blue bird. I loved that car i want another one 😢😊
They are out there, but people sure have beat them up.
Great informative video too Tony. Thanks
Thank you very much!
Now I'm checking out my ignition switch. Bet thats why mine won't go into accessory. Its hard to find a junkyard ignition with keys. I just happened to find an extra set of keys under the seat when i was looking for something else 😂😂 so look for hidden keys. Original lincoln key too. I took the door locks too since they're easy to replace
It probably is your ignition switch! I'm sure we'll find a lock set for it. Thank you!
@tonyscarcare5657 the mechanic got it to work but it's hard to turn. It's hanging up on something new switch too
I think it would be the switch causing it.
Wouldn't it say Country Squire on the rear quarters?
Nope. All Country Squires had the wood paneling. The original window sticker calls this one a Crown Victoria LX. Someone had put the wrong emblems on it.
Glad to see I am not the only fan of these Crown Victoria Wagons. I have two, those being a 1987 and a 1991 LX model in Pastel Alabaster color and the 1987 in Sand Beige. I recently replaced all four headlights on both cars as they were all original and faded or the seals had failed allowing water to collect. Easy to change and not pricy like new cars!
No kidding! I just replaced a headlight assembly on a 2025 F150, and my cost was $1,076.00! The list price was $1,547.00! 😳 It took me almost 2 hours to change. It won't take as long the next time.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Hi Tony, The shop I deal with, Bundy Motors - Tolland, Ct. had a Volkswagen in for a headlight replacement and it took the Tech 8 hours total to complete the job. I would not buy any new vehicle as they are mostly overpriced junk. I will stick with my 1987 Ford, my 1991 Ford and my 1989 Mercury as these are quality automobiles. Thanks for the response.
Hey Tony glad to see you back
Thank you! It sure is hard to get videos done when the regular business is booming. I wish I had time for more videos.
Right speaker just went on my 2016 will be doing this soon thanks
You're welcome. Thank you!
Can you do a video on how to get to the back half window motors on a 1974 mercury marquis 2 door
I'm going to, Sir! It will be my 78 but the same!
@ do you have any idea when you will be getting around to it. I just got my torque pins and I’m excited to get them working.
Maybe I'll try to make it a priority for you. I definitely need to get it done as well.
@@tonyscarcare5657 ok thank you. Excited to see it.
Yep I don't need to get my brake controller computer controlled by Factory standards I just plug it in and screw it under the dash and tow my trailer because I'm running a 2014 Ram turbo diesel
Doesn't need to be programmed the programming is inside the controller
You can do that with the Fords, too, if you don't want the factory installed look.
fake it till you brake it
Thank you for your good job, I've seen a few on Dodge gran Caravan, almost identical
@@patopatin You're welcome. Thank you for watching and commenting. Much appreciated!
I thoroughly enjoyed this junkyard crawl and the anecdotes of previous junkyard visits you told. Thank you for taking us along. Also looking forward to the next video about the statistics report and how your latest Signature Series has an identical sister car.
You're welcome. Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Tony! I saw in Your video 2 Crown Victoria's with what appeared to be good rear bumpers on the & I am still looking for one for My 1987 Crown Vic. Could You tell Me more about them or check them out closer for Me & let Me know. Mine is completely rusted away in the centre & If You watch My video on a quick tour of it, You will see on how I patched it up so that at least it looked better. I would greatly appreciate it. PS: OH! Also a modual for the intermittent wipers & a ash tray.
I'm sorry, but I don't have the equipment to get under those cars and get rusty bumper nuts and bolts off out there in the weeds. That stuff will need to be soaked down and possibly even heated up to get those off. The owner has told me that they do not want a bunch of phone calls and that anyone is welcome to come and take a look and get things themselves. The small stuff I could possibly get.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Could You at least find on how much for one & also ho much duty charges for Canada?
I really think it would be best to contact a junkyard like Hidden Valley auto parts in Arizona, which specializes in selling and shipping rust free parts like that. This junkyard doesn't ship anything.
Seeing this, I just can't believe on how much damage that little car did to this heavy beast of a car. Also shows Me how though My 87 Crown Victoria truly is. It was simple amazing on how Your Parents got out of it after being on it's roof. I also see that the engine is the same as in My Crown Victoria with only half the miles I have on My Crown Vic. I have 245,456 kil-o-meters on it. kilo of course meaning a thousand and metre meaning distance. It's just this Summer that I had My 1st major issue with it on My way home & had to have it towed the rest of the way witch was only 3 blocks from where I live. Unfortunately, one of the frost plugs developed a leak in it, but I did manage to get it running again.
They are great cars. That kid was simply traveling way too fast.
Finally got to watch this vid. Thank you for taking the time to show us the characteristics of a real Signature Series and more of the one you just purchased. I was surprised to see the 3.27 Trac-Lok rear end on the build sheet. Learned a few things and definitely looking forward to more vids from you.
You're welcome. Thank you! I finally got the statistics report, and it is one of two built just like it. It has or had an identical twin. I will be doing another video on it.
Tony great video , have u ever repaired the door handles both my rear doors do not open from the outside
Yes, I have. I need to find one that doesn't work to do a video for you guys.
I have a 1997 Ford F150 that turned out be be a non-plug & play model. And doing the manual cut & splice shown in this video turned out to be not an option due to both the physical location of the main harness out of my reach behind the glove box as well as my physical limitations. Tony was great trying to help me find a way to do the install. But I decided it was too much for me to try. His full refund was virtually instaneous. Even though I don't have his product I have to give high marks for his customer service and friendly honesty. Thanks, Tony!
Thanks, buddy!
