    Just did mine 2 months ago… apparently the track parts are all plastic. 🙄 wtf!! $50 kit on Amazon… I just had to buy a rivet gun, body trim tool and I convinced my best friend to lend a hand for a few hours on a Saturday. BTW… don’t loose one of the 4 torx screws for the sunroof. The dealership charges $67 for the pack of 4. Luckily they just charged me $16 for one 😐 fml

      No, no...don't do anything that drastic!
      I did mine over this past weekend. You DON'T have to take it out of the truck. Fold your front seats all the way down. Take the headliner down. Unscrew the sunroof track, drop it down, repair it, and screw it back up. Worked great, and no seat removal.

    Saw your video after I completed my fix (by using someone else's). Both your video and there's were very similar. My problem now is that when I hit the "tilt" button, it lifts but then comes back down on it's own. Secondly, when I hit the "slide" button, it lifts (tilts) and then comes down on its own. Any ideas?

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  5 месяцев назад +1

      Usually that means its encountering resistance. If the motors hit a certain level of resistance, they reverse. Were you able to find a solution? That knowledge would help the community for sure and anyone who find that same trouble.

    Now if the little rear window stops, Thats getting fixed quick!
    Not sure if you guys get salted roads also but have you taken the sunroof drain tubes out of the rockers to help prevent them from from rusting?

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  5 месяцев назад

      We'd need you to provide a little more detail, it sounds like you're saying the rear window is breaking when you turn on the defrost... like shattering. We personally haven't had any issues with the rear window on ours, although we have had a terrible time with the rear defroster.

      @@MotorsandMischief well the rear defrost does not work I don’t know if the prior owner disabled it or it just does not work but I’ve been seeing all the videos of how it break the rear window if you use it and sometimes when I try to open the sliding window it will not work so I don’t open it a lot because don’t want it to not work in the open position

  • @SunshineDave
    @SunshineDave 20 дней назад

    Anyone know a good method to just get the window closed and watertight again without doing the full repair? Ripping out the headliner seems like it could be a total disaster if you F it up. Mine jumped the stops when opening it straight back all the way and now it's wedged open and won't go forward. I almost never use the sunroof and I'd be happy just to button this up tight closed as long as it looks okay from the inside and outside.

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  5 дней назад +1

      Great question. If you really force it, like really pull, you can sometimes make it close. The risk is breaking the plastics even more. First I would try to calibrate it while all the way back. I cover that at 35:44. Let us know how it goes!

    • @SunshineDave
      @SunshineDave 4 дня назад

      @@MotorsandMischief I decided to get the local dealer to get it shut and paid the $200. I'm in the process of collecting all the tools I need and I'm going to try and get some time in my brother's machine shop and get some help before I attempt this. Drilling out rivets and buying the right rivet gun to re-rivet it probably the tough part above my experience level. But the almost $4000 price tag at the dealer - I won't pay that for a truck worth $10,000.

      Just completed mine today. I did not remove any seats although it might have helped with the headliner. With that said though, there are some videos where they don't have the b-pillar between the front and rear doors. I, of course, have the dang b-pillar. Folded the headliner up like a taco and slid it out the back door. Taking the sunroof frame out wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but take off the headrests to help with space.
