Im replacing my rear sunroof bc my mom cracked it under a parking garage and im also replacing the broken guides along with it, you video was extremely helpful to make sure I didnt break the new part putting it back in, I appreciate your video boss! 🔥🔥🔥
Bro thank you. I followed step by step. I did not see the need to take out the rear “tab” insert in the back of the rail. 1.5 hours with the tools and sunroof doctor new tracks and I’m 100% back. Used the time with the glass out to to full krytox every seal. Working like new. $160 and your video vs $1500 at Ford. Thanks from NC
They want $5K here in Canada. I will have to keep an eye on the next video, mine does the EXACT same thing. The passenger side at the back of the roof doesn't drop.
@@CurrentElectrical Sunroof on my 2017 self-destructed last week. Lots of cracks and pops when I went to close it and now won't close all the way. Dealership quoted me $5k to replace the tracks and motors. Unreal.

I just did it on the raptor. Thanks for the help. Make sure there’s nothing in the tracks like extra plastics. also make sure The metal is not bended at the ends meaning the tracks. That’s what I saw on mine. I had to hammer it down on both ends. Once you takeoff the stops, you can activate the sunroof forward and it’ll pop out by itself meaning the old tracks.
Good video and very helpful. I just did this on my 2016 KR. It took about an hour. I used hand tools and when re-installing the glass, left the bolts hand tight and then pushed the glass up until it was flush with the roof and then tightened them down snug. I tested the roof and it worked great, so I tightened the bolts and re-installed the bellows. It really wasn't that hard to do. Figuring out how the darn thing worked was half the battle - it is an interesting mechanism!

I used a rubber mallet to get the old rail out. Just a few taps and out it comes.

Was yours leaking from the middle top with the car wash ? Mine is doing that. Did you reset it ?

Okay so I just found, I think, the fix to the alignment.
The big metal pin that that slides in the track, where the slot is in the track that lets that pin flip up and down. There’s only one place it can do that. Mine were not the same. One was inside the track when it didn’t need to be and other one was outside the track. If I could post pictures it would make total sense.
Did you just put it back in the track? Have pictures somewhere? I am in the exact same spot with the sunroof tore apart 😂

When I replaced tracks, my sunroof wouldn’t open, I thought it was the motor, but I found out that when you hit the vent button, it levels out, when you close the vent button, the glass come down into the cab rather than outward. Do you have any idea what I did wrong???? Please help

Was yours leaking by chance? Mine started leaking a few days ago and I just noticed it won't retract. It starts to, then stops, just like yours was.
Usually it's the the drain tube getting clogged

Diana if you haven't discovered it on your own already- your sunroof can't be repaired from above like this, you have to completely tear the interior apart by pulling down your headliner and then taking the full sunroof assembly out of the truck. It's like a 5+ hour ordeal- and will break again in a few years. Really great design work. :/

Do you know what to do if you can't get sunroof into vent mode? The drivers side is popped pout of the track and won't allow to me raise it to get the plastic piece to slide to remove that one screw that is hidden.

Yup I am having the same problem with the misalignment and can't figure out how to get things back in alignment so sunroof opens and closes properly. Also ended up breaking one of the plastic arms that holds the cover between the two panes of glass in the extended sunroof... Does anybody know what that part is called? The arms and cover are all one piece and connect via a pin to the rail assembly.
That is called the drip channel. I just broke mine too
Buy 2020 and newer a lot cheaper but same part different part number
At 6:36 do you know what the name of that plastic tab is called? On mine that was the tab that was broken along with the rail, but I'm having a difficult time finding out what that tab is called to replace it.
It's part of the track assembly and is not available separately, sorry.
You need to pull the whole thing to do it correctly.

Did you fix the problem right side rail,,,my plastic piece under the right hand rail, at the back end of it broke, I have to figure out how I can replace that piece
Hey Scott. Did you figure out how to repair the plastic end of the rail that moves the metal piece along the guide? Mine just broke as well and although the guide is broken, it will work without replacement. The problem on my roof is the moving rail is no longer attached to the metal. I am looking for a replacement part. Any luck?

Would you or anyone know how to get the sunshade to close all the way, mines been stuck half way for a few months now. Sun roof opens closes but the shade won’t go all the way closed
Had similar issue, found out my sunroof was installed incorrectly, when I push the vent button, the shade guard closes, but I found out that the sunroof comes into the cab rather than out the cab when venting. That was my issue.
This just happend on my 2003 F150 1300$ to fix it. That’s with labor and 120$ kit my god

what is that plastic piece called that runs along the whole track and that he slid back into place at 9:22 in the video? I have found all the other parts I need to fix my sunroof but I can't seem to find that plastic piece that runs along the track. If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated!

I call the Ford dealer and make a complaint to get a recall in place. My warranty is up and it’s eight $3500 fix.

Do you have an update on the fix? I just replaced my guide arms yesterday and I'm having this exact issue. I really don't want to take it to the dealership. I read that the whole rail assembly might need to be replaced.

@@numbthumb5636Yes because of the cable guides which if you buy aftermarket they are not made to spec yet. On older models yes but on newer ones no, I managed to remove transfer over everything to new track assembly and recalibrate for $1880.00, spent about 19hrs on diag and trouble shooting this. Make sure everyone does not go and buy aftermarket cable guides from Amazon eBay. NEEDS TO BE OEM

You skipped how you got to the second screw. Delete this trash man.
