I once had a parent complain on the phone to me about the Black Assistant Principal suspending her child. She said she was glad she was talking to me and not her. I then calmly told her that I was the only Assistant Principal at the school. She said, "you can't be, my child told me that woman is Black!" I responded, " I'm the only Assistant Principal here, ma'am. And, yes. I am Black." She was so shocked that she hung up the phone and came to the school to see for herself! People are ridiculous.

I worked for a mortgage counseling service and a Caucasian woman called because she was about to loose her home. She talked to me about what led up to the issue for about 2 hours. The “reason” was he had an affair and left her. She told me the story and said can you believe he left me for a black woman. My mouth dropped. I am black, I don’t think she realized it.😱

I remember hearing about this book called "Boys Like Girls Who..." and basically it was meant to target girls who are envious of the other people or thought they were inferior. The ending of the book says boys like girls who like themselves, which I think would be a good example of not judging a book by its cover.
