I'm reading the comments and loving the conversations and support in them. What stands out to me is that his jokes are racial, not racist. When he talks about being bewildered by black things (The Ash Wars), or nervous in black communities, the greatest butt of the joke is HIM! I love that he had this exaggerated fear going into a black neighborhood, with an element of truth (feeling out of comfort zone, don't belong), then in the next part can reflect on black people having to leave black neighborhoods and be the odd one out. He complains and observes, even disagrees, but he's never above anyone.

People dont realize that bill's wife is the black-female version of him. They are a perfect couple. When they argue, it is like listening to bill argue with himself.
@@michellefg792 There are a lot of podcasts on Bill's channel where his wife intervenes, and yes the outcomes are hilarious! Or just search "Bill Burr podcast Nia" and there should be a full compilation of them. Have fun!
What's even funnier is the people calling him a cuck because he is (SOMETIMES) calmer when he argues with Nia (who apparently is too liberal for some of Bill's fans), like dude do you really expected Bill to treat his wife like a Karen heckler at one of his shows?! Actually I love it too when me and my gf have opposing ideals, we start yelling and we end up laughing at our own stupidity!
I attended a mostly black middle school, and Bill Burr reminds me of my buddy James who was one of the few white kids there. James was definitely one of "us", but he was also most certainly very white. He made incredibly humorous observations about black peoples' nuances, little things that the average white person wouldn't notice.

The "ashy skin" bit has a special place in my heart. I've been a huge Bill Burr fan for years. To the point where anytime he releases anything, I get like 14 calls sayin "Bro, your guy got some new material" and Im like "YES". So I watch this bit and of course fucking died laughing and as with anything that made me laugh, I told my Dad about it and he also found it hilarious. The very next fucking day, my Dad drives me to a Doctor appointment. We're sitting in the waiting room and I look over at this stupid fucking rack of pamplets that nobodies touched in 14 years and one stands out to me. It says something about eczema and shows a picture of someones arm. Then has like, the elbow circled in red then a line leading to another circle with the close up of it and I lean into my Dad, point it out and go "look at that ashy muthafuckin elbow" and we both erupted into laughter. Now mind you, this was a fucking dead silent waiting room although it was full. A lot of people having a shit day and it kinda got everyone laughing even though they didnt know what we were laughing about. Ended up telling my doctor about it to and getting a laugh out of her. Gave her the backstory and everything. So, I lost my Dad in January 2020. This is the first time I've watched that bit since and it created one of those weird moments where you start laughing and finish crying and I dont typically comment on videos but every once in a while I see a really sweet story that makes me smile and thought I could do the same for some others!
Being a white dude married to a black woman for 20 years next November, I was Litteraly crying laughing through this who video. Dude I miss when comedians were not afraid to have fun with different things in cultures.... Just loved this.... Thanks for uploading
Most weren't doing it correctly.. If you don't recognize that, you being married to a black person didn't teach you much.. Being married to one of us isn't always relevant
nah not really i mean like dave chapelle is more animated and adds more bodylanguage and funnier face expressions and voices where bill is more culturally based humour and often uses his temper to make things funny but they're both funny imo
Elvis actually did a lot for the civil right movement was even forced into the militarily because he wouldn't change. They fallowed him and took pictures of him in black clubs..he grew upin a black neighborhood if anyone gets the chance watch the movies its was great
What I love about this is that it's not just needlessly disparaging black people for the sake of shock factor. There's a sense of humility to the way Bill Burr tells these jokes. For example, the last clip where he's talking about going to Harlem, he's not saying that Harlem is inherently scary because it's predominantly black, he's saying he was nervous cuz he's this pale white guy and he looks out of place. His humor doesn't come from a sense of superiority, it comes from a place of self awareness and honesty, while being able to tell jokes about that in relation to different races of people.
And there's a lane for the disparaging stuff with people like Anthony Jesselnik, and a lot of black comedians can be pretty mean too like Chappelle or Patrice O'Neal, it's more about not making most or all your jokes about one community.
@@goth2415 That's lower level intelligence humor tho. Dave chapelle never used to be that harsh on whyte peple. He mostly joked about blk peple on his chapelle show he was mostly positive about whyte ppl...especially with his killing them softly jokes

Like a white guy saying black jokes who isn't saying nothing malicious and racist is so rare that it needs to be explained. It makes it seem like black people are so sensitive and ignorant that we don't know the difference between pure comedy and hate. And I'm not ripping your comment at all, because I can understand where you from respectfully.
@@bossmaynemarco yeah that's fair. I wasn't trying to say that black people are more sensitive, I was just formulating my thoughts on why I think these clips do the humor right, and I posted it hoping that other people with any stance on the jokes could see why it could be perceived as funny, rather than jumping to conclusions. It's not that I'm worried black people are more sensitive, it's that I was worried an actual racist white person would take away the wrong lesson from these clips

@@symcardnel1741 "militant" was just a description more or less. Just saying I'm not scared to call out racism and speak on it of need be.... Not 1 of these docile black ppl that they love..... Other than that I'm not understanding ur question. U don't "do" anything u just be urself.... It's not something I have to try to do I'm just myself 🤷🏿♂️
Kingleo- I call out racism when I see it am I a militant white.
Oh I thought militant meant like, militia member or smth. This makes a lot more sense.
@@ladnie9454 😂 noooooo. Nothing like that.
Lol that argument on the Elvis thing got me. My wife is black and I’m white… we’ve totally had arguments like that. We were dying laughing.
That’s why he’s so funny because he hits you right where you can relate. Lol I’m black and many things he says about us are so on the money.
Within every joke In lies the truth!
Gross
Sorry I'm slow but I didn't get the LA to New York joke please explain
He's saying white people invented the airplane so it's cultural appropriation when POC fly on them.
I saw his latest Netflix special and I was sleep on this dude. I laughed at everything he said! He tells it like it is. I'm a new fan
Lmao yooooooo. Why am I so late to bill burr. That was really funny.
Bill Burr is just funny. That's why he can wake the line. He is definitely in the top 5 of all comedians.
One of my favorite
Facts
Him and Dave Chapelle Top 5 all day
Who are the other 4?
@@mtio2807 Dave Richard garlin Mac that's my top five
I love Bill Burr. He explains things I see as a mixed kid who has to understand either side of my family and the larger picture of our American history. Having a sense of humor about it has always empowered me to see past differences. Also, he is just so funny on any topic. Love him!
I agree with you 💯!! I'm in the same boat as you and it gets me through laughing about it
He is fantastic in “f is for family” he deserves an award for his vocal performance in that
Omg I never knew that was him!
Because of that show, I am a die hard fan of this man....
He helps write the show as well
Love that show
It’s his show about his family.
I'm so glad he did his Philly rant. That made him must see. A true comedian grinder.
A breath of fresh air this guy.. Who's with me? we need to get back to comedy like this,, stuff that's actually laugh out loud funny & not just crass, gross & cringe worthy..
I've always wondered why we can't acknowledge someone's race and not be a dick about it? Different groups of people do things in different ways. This is what the basis of "learning from each other" is. Not hate the other group cause they do things in a different way.
Exactly!☺
Everyone is so fragile these days!
Once I was in this evening class, and there were two people named Dave. One was irish, one was from Nigeria.
One evening everyone was chatting before class, and another dude arrives and says hey has anyone seen Dave? I have something for him.
Someone replies, do you mean black Dave or white Dave?
The first guy got all flustered, and was like umm I didn't...ehh I'm not...I don't...
He didn't know what to say, which was absolutely bizarre because it was such a practical question.
EXACTLY!
I believe in cultural differences but racial differences not really. Regardless of melanin the person could act or be apart of any culture depending
Bill Burr is the only comedian that can make me laugh with a same bit that I watch thousand times before. Absulately genious.
Bill bur and Dave chappell. I haven't seen any like these days
Enjoy this flavor of comedians, they are a dying breed. One more generation, max, i am sure
Te proper spelling is "genius."
Dave Chapelle, Ron "Tater Salad" White
@@bathin813 Go to a retirement home and you meet a lot of Dave Chappelle's. Bitter and hating on everyone. Makes me laugh everytime.
This is my first time hearing him and I’ve been laughing since he started 😂😂😂
Beautiful comedy.... Wasn't offended in the least and was dying laughing
same here ha ha ha
Same haha
One of my favorite comedians. Telling the truth and showing the humor in it all.
Yeah he's one of the few who can make fun of the very people that think he's one of 'em while he's beating them over the head with punchline after punchline, hence, making @$$e$ of them and they're just laughing and laughing never realizing the jokes on them!
