- Ms. Marvel is in trouble. After being delayed twice now it is going back for extensive reshoots. Right after Doctor Strange finished it's 6 weeks of reshoots. Now we here Moon Knight, the only show I'm looking forward too, is set for reshoots as well. After the success of Spider-Man: No Wary Home and the stagnate year of Marvel Disney Plus 'content' leading to stock troubles. Now we hear Disney's Bob Chapek wants to focus on the audience? Say WHAT? It's clear something is going on. What isn't clear is if the inevitable changes will just be cameos or an effort to make content that isn't filled with identity politics and M-She-U.
Have we come full circle? Ms. Marvel was and is the poster child for the SJW Marvel era. An era that was the origins of the M-She-U. An era that didn't end well. Only time will tell.

Dude, Spider-man is the most popular superhero, Eternals is nowhere near that level, come on now, you cannot be that dense about it, and it had other Spider-men in it as well. Considering Karey Burke, the president of Disney general entertainment, said she's gonna keep fighting until at least 50% of all characters in movies and shows are "lgbtq+", I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon. It will just be more blaming the audience for when a movie is garbage.

Getting rid of Iron Man and Captain America was a big mistake by the MCU.

True story, Iraq 2014. Comics for soldiers sends comics to troops overseas. For all my previous deployments we got old floppy and traded paperbacks. In 2014 we ONLY got new unsold Kamala Kahn Ms. Marvel. Comic books shops could use the donation so I don't blame them, it was the best kindling we ever got

That's what I've been wondering too. Barely anyone on Earth should know Captain Marvel exists. Maybe she did more on Earth in that 5 year time gap, but it'll be hard to make that compelling enough for the connection to make sense. And either way it'll just be retroactive changes for Captain Marvel's story in the MCU.
Speaking of which, not that I'm that familiar with the character, but you'd think a young, impressionable kid coming from a minority race and religious background idolizing and modelling herself after a blond haired, blue eyed white woman would be problematic, but I guess we'll see how mainstream audiences react to that. They gender swapped Captain Mar-Vell to make him a woman in Captain Marvel (which I'm sure was quite intentional), so it's not like they're against changing things if it fits the message they want to send.

It's also less empowering to make a character perfect as they are from day one than making them grow or fail and learn from their failures. Like, what's more empowering to the average person? A character that's perfect and you could never even come close to be like or seeing a character fail and face hardships but showing you that with effort, willpower and resourcefulness obstacles can be overcome? One of those two things is inspiring and empowering, the other just dumb and lazy writing.

You know, this is the first Phase that I've deliberately avoided watching the installments. I was perfectly willing to give some of them a chance and was actually enthusiastic about some of them. Then WandaVision disappointed, Falcon disgusted and bored me, and Black Widow and Shang Chi were both meh. I've no interest in the rest of them.

It's been a huge contention between me and my irl friends the past couple years cuz our interests have changed and grown apart I'm still a supportive friend who listens and enjoys hearing about what they love but they shut me down when I try to do the same.

The only way the M-She-U (and Star Wars) gets fixed, is if Bob Paycheck understands two things:
1. There is a problem with the people currently in charge because they are not putting the profitability of their respective divisions (MCU and Star Wars) first.
2. They are currently prioritizing identity and agenda over good storytelling, and are pandering to the twitter mob instead of their actual fans.
Bob needs to both acknowledge that there is a problem, and correctly discern what the problem is and correct it.
I'm not convinced he can do either.

Well, if Doomcock's latest rumors hold water (and I hope they do), it's not just Bob trying to right the ship, but the new chairman of the board Susan Arnold and she's not playing around. Apparently in her first meeting, she said Disney is going to be a for profit company again and attacking customers for not being the right kind of people is not going to be tolerated. She even pulled up tweets as examples of how not to treat customers and called them the peak of stupidity. Basically, if they want push projects fans don't want, attack fans for not liking the products, or push politics they're not welcome in the company and she's ready to show them the door. Her and Bob are on the same page, but he's alot nicer in comparison. The only thing is, righting the ship will take time and it seems Hollywood hates them and are counting the days until Chapeak's contract runs out. I have to wonder if anyone will be left on the High Republic by the time Arnold is thru.

The one thing that gives in creditabiliy is Arnold is definitely a for profit person. She worked for Gamble and Proctor, but was long gone before the "toxic masculinity" Gillette commercial. She called the "message" stupid and told them their goal was to sell razors, not tell their target audience how to act. The director of that commercial is long gone with her idiotic award and the macho guys are back in Gillette commercials minus the feminist hot take. When I sat down in the theatre (on the actual day of my birthday) to see Endgame, I didn't want the MCU to end.
I got through Marvel's 2021 offerings and I am now begging for it to die.
I guess you didn't have a problem with them shoving the all women segment in our faces in Endgame.
It did die for me. I just quit watching them along with te CW super hero shows that I could no longer watch without feeling sick to my stomach

You wanna see strong female characters... watch Gone with the Wind. Scarlett, Melanie, Bell Watling, and Mammy were _all_ strong female characters. Way stronger than Ripley. Even Scarlett's mother was a strong character.

It’s such a shame that with the visual effects technology and some amazing available actors the current trend these movies are heading is towards woke trends rather than pure storytelling. Such great things are possible and part of me feels this is all calculated not just towards woke ideology, but as a sick form of subversive torture for people who just want to enjoy something.

It's like he said - focus on making the characters relatable as humans. Stay faithful to the source material and stop using characters as a vehicle to push gender/race politics. Even with the loss of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, the MCU has some excellent characterizations to explore. I was excited about seeing the evolution of The Scarlet Witch, 'Old Man' Hawkeye, and (especially) Loki. What poorly written dreck was the result.

Its not leading to a change on Hollywood in general just with Disney and that's because the new Disney CEO Bob Chapek expects monetary success: he doesn't measure success based on diversity, Equity & Inclusion. The woke M-She-U that Kevin Feige has been steering towards is being shut down by Chapek. Chpaek didn't do this sooner because he needed to have more than just 1 or 2 bad performers. Feige needed to have multiple failures and he did that in 2021. Wouldn't be shocked if Thor gets delayed for extensive reshoots then again with where they took that character there may not be a way to save it without doing an entirely different movie

"Relentless focus on our audience" is an interesting choice of words. Most people will assume the audience is the viewer, but the real audience they are focusing on are the critics, the shareholders, and the board.
Disney has ruined my favorite IPs, however, that's saved me *thousands* of dollars that I no longer spend on movies, annual passes to the parks (plus staying on-site,) and allll the merchandise.
Spend your money on a high quality home theatre even if you have to save up for it and then you can watch what you want.
And try and find other alternative entertainment sources such as the Daily Wire which are about to try something different.
The Disney consumers are already subscribed to Disney+. It's the discerning customers that are left and Disney is stalling out trying to entice them in by relying on their "consumer" strategies. Get apolitical, make good stories and tell your people to stop antagonizing potential customers and you might just be able to get back in the black Disney.
