Love how all these "what went wrong" articles focus on everything except what's gone wrong. They aren't blinded by wokeness. They know what the problem is. They just think they can deny it long enough and we'll be dumb enough to fall for it
Not really anything new, "wokeness" is their exploitation, just a greater fraud to abuse, extort, and redefine arbitrarily. They don't even have the argument of earnestly believing something, nor of authenticity. They think their authority can never be wrong, they think people are dumb for not following or being lead by anyone else, let alone heathens with their own thought.
Check who owns the article companies, it's the same parent companies as the show producers. Outrage gets clicks and ads pay, couple that with subscriptions that people have already paid for and they're double dipping. 90% of US media is owned by 6 mega-companies.
They’re never gonna say it’s a woke fatigue, or a m-she-u fatigue, or bad writing fatigue, or Disney + fatigue. They’re gonna always blame the people who don’t watch it first.
The successful formula USED to be: respect the original source material, respect the fans of the original source material. That's why Phases 1-3 were so great and why everything after that sucked.
That's true, and so frustrating....like.....you ALREADY have the stories.....the characters, the back stories, the character development, how can you keep fucking this up....?
I must admit when X-Men came out, I didn't even realize how diverse the cast was and it seemed natural, in fact it was the fact that no one single mutant could handle any and every problem but the team would cover each others weaknesses in situations that made it a dynamic team up!!!
This is a good point! At least in corporate speak, what makes diversity good is the fact it brings in people from different backgrounds and abilities. This results in people and teams who come up with unique and innovative solutions to problems. Because you don't have the too-similar thought processes that comes from everyone being a similar demographic. It seems Marvel is largely missing that point. They're bringing on women and minorities, and presenting them as simply better than their white and male predecessors. This fulfills the "letter of the law" of diversity, namely, changing up sexes and skin colors and such. But it misses the "spirit of the law" of diversity, namely, presenting new perspectives that bring new ways to more effectively solve problems.
It was about CHARACTERS who had goals, dreams and desires in difficult situations . Not look how many white men are not in our universe and tokenism. @Llewis Lower

Other issue is that I'm pretty sure that Favreau was a fan of Iron Man. Whereas, the people working on the movies today seem to outright hate the characters.
that's so true, they don't hire people who are fans and understand what they're doing anymore. so now everything looks like bad fanfiction written by people who hate the source material.
Very true, you could see that with FATWS. It was obvious they hated Bucky; he got his ass kicked in every fight, usually by women, and they spent more time on Sam's sister's boat than on his issues.
I remember that scene in Endgame where every single female hero comes together. I was like ummm weren't half of these people across the battlefield a second ago. It was so obviously forced that it instantly pulled me back from whatever attention I was paying to the movie up until that point. My brother and I looked at each other like what the hell?
The shitty part of that scene was if they just had all the women do what they did without that cringy fucking stop and pose, noone would have even blinked. We all know those women belonged there for the most part.
@shadowpoetrk That's true. But they had to be absolutely certain that people knew it was the woman's time to shine. I have no qualms about female heroes being heroic. The issue is that it's all obviously forced at this point. 🙄 They don't know how to make it seem natural.
That's not even remotely true. I don't recall any of the Spiderman movies being "bad". Do I ever care to see another one? Hell no. Eight movies over four actors is too much. Let's see something new. The same goes for vampires, zombies, and Bat-Man. It's possible to beat a dead horse, even if the content is good.
@@AMortalDefiant Well the box office receipts (I.E. the consumer base) disagree with you as the last Spiderman movie was the most financially successful one. A big part of this whole problem is the fact that years ago movies and shows were made for a target audience. Nowadays those markets just aren’t big enough for the behemoths that these companies have grown into. That made me stop collecting the series and shift over to the Avengers. Back in those days you had that option. Comic book collectors even wrote their feedback and they were posted at the last page. Marvel listened. I did eventually started buying the X-men again. They would remove writers and artists and find ways to clean up the bad stories. When Disney took over, all of us at Midtown Comic had a telepathic connection with the words "It's over for Marvel". Constant reshoots are what happen when you hire writers, directors, actors, etc etc based on the boxes they check rather then by their TALENT!! Who ever could have known??!!!
I think that representation is a good thing to an extent. Writers have to relate to their characters to make them believable. For example, if you're going to write about Christian✝ characters like Hell Boy, Daredevil, or Night Crawler, it might be good to have a Christian writer on the team. That makes the characters more relatable and believable. The problem comes when that's the ONLY reason you hire someone.
I think people are confusing “inclusivity/exclusivity” and “lack of diversity” with preferences. It’s okay to cater to your primary demographic. It’s also okay to create different, strong characters to cater to a new audience sometimes. You just can’t completely shun or demonize the entire audience that made you the company that you are. In my opinion.
Personally, if the new "preference" takes away from who the character really is, it's despicable and sad. Hey, I KNOW! Let's make Superman lose his cape and replace it with a feather boa, because everything is gay now. 6:36 you see, Fiege, the difference is that Pixar is an animation studio, so it’s all in one package. They make animated projects and if the movie doesn’t sell tickets, they don’t get paid. Marvel studios has been using free-lance VFX artists to build and rebuild entire sets over and over again because of a problem with the writing and directing. So instead of trying to make it all work in one go, they just go “eh, will fix it in post” not realizing how much work that will actually be, and whether or not it will look any good. Of course I’m generalizing here, but it’s definitely the vibe I got from black widow and it’s really the vibe I got from MOM. It doesn’t help that films like Thor love and thunder and shows like she hulk have the audacity to mock their VFX.
You know, when the MCU started, they would put out 1, maybe 2, projects a year. I can't help but notice there's a direct correlation between the dramatic increase in the number of projects Disney is crapping out and the dramatic decrease of the quality each project displays.

Also, the Spiderman comics I read when I was a kid never said anything about Peter Parker's Aunt May being a lesbian, but she apparently is now...and reading the old Batman comics, not ONCE did I ever see Robin wanting to get down the pants of another male...but, like Aunt May, he does NOW.
@@wolflover968 Exactly. Your assessment is spot on... as usual. I really love it when You, AZ, Critical Drinker, Mauler and the rest of your crew hit them with truth bombs, as we've all come to realize, The truth is like Disney/Marvel/Star Wars own personal Kryptonite. they hate it when people punch them in the face with the truth. Good Job!
I remember buying comics in the 90s and I loved seeing super hot, fitness/figure model type artwork of my favorite characters who were awesome, interesting, sexy and original. They didn't have to be the key to everything...I loved when they hooked up with a strong male (who wasn't without a set of balls) X-Men being my favorite. Please never try to ruin The Darkness.
Image and Top Cow might be the last vestiges of hope for good comics. I like what Deadpool and the X-Force have been doing lately too. Let's hope they learn from the MCU's mistakes.
I feel ya, I have a BIG collection of Batman (obvs lol) Graphic Novels that span some 35 years (yeah, I'm an old git lol), and even though there are some varying styles the artwork was penned with each different artist/s flair or imagining say. As for the ladies, there were some ABSOLUTELY STUNNING women in a lot of the comics/graphic novels than when I was younger, some of the ladies? It's like, I mean WOW! From the slim, lithe, athletic build, to even a slightly more curvy but toned figure, the way the clothes (some fancy evening gowns and high society wear etc), just made me think "Man! I WISH I was there" I was so attracted to their whole femininity, class, their eyes, makeup, hair (the 'Whole package' so to speak). I was mesmerised by them, imagining "Oh if only I was dating a woman like that!". But then when you came to the women with their secret personas, Catwoman, Poison Ivy etc etc, their attire was yeah, somewhat provocative but, still, with their poses, their acrobatics, the way they stood, moved, fought and such, showed strength, power and abilities to handle men quite capably in a combat situation... Very VERY nice! As for the men, Bruce/Batman, Joker, Riddler, Jim Gordon etc etc, shown in their usual guises, Bruce being stocky, built, battle scarred around his body, but as equally as being 'Threatening' in his 'Night time gear' whilst battling foe or doing his detective work, but also cut a very fine debonair look when wearing a tux, being the 'Billionaire playboy jock' giving the impression he had more money than sense in a way. Hell yeah, I feel you, 'Men were men' and 'Women were women'. BOTH having their strengths and weaknesses, and BOTH playing their acumen, their abilities, and their strengths to get what they wanted. Along with the writing of these character arcs, the storylines and such, THAT is what made these older comics and graphic novels pretty much.... THE BEST, yes, there are some newer comics with superheros (like ISOM)... But... Alas, those well known, oh so very well beloved fine tales and characters, are now being bastardised by those that know little of, not at all, of such material, or those that want to subvert the whole thing into, ahem 😒 'Their own vision of the story', because simply, they HAVE NO RESPECT for what has been written by great writers and artists like Bob Kane, Bill Finger, Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Steve Ditko, and the mighty Stan Lee, or... the HUGE fan base GLOBALLY... 🦇😎🇬🇧🦇

@@thedarkknight1971 well said! And I ALWAYS say this now...I am SO happy that I was born when I was and did not miss out on the best pop culture, best time for toys, TV, movies, comics had ups and downs over the years but I bought them during a big upswing. And just the overall time for experiences without my youth being corrupted by social media. Video games were the perfect form of technology I was glad to have. But about those art styles...I would be floored by how dark, sexy, menacing, powerful, heroic, frightening and beautiful some of those artists could make those characters. I wanted so badly to be able to draw like that. I was even inspired to practice. X-Men was my most collected and Storm was my favorite. I loved how different artists captured her look in many different styles. Then I branched to image and top cow and when I saw Witchblade and The Darkness...I was like..oh WOW Perfect specimens on paper...how could paper be so HOT?!
The writing, the music, the all-around _wholesomeness_ of the Superman character with none of the gray, post-modern corruption...the original movies spoke to what was good and worthwhile in humanity. It was the same way with the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies as well. The MCU movies started this way but quickly became tedious, woke preach-fests braketed by explosions and snarky jokes. THAT is why so many MCU movies and shows are failing. It's the _same movie_ again and again, just with fewer and fewer white males.
The M-She-U is NOT facing fatigue, that implies at some point it worked, NONE OF IT HAS WORKED, it's been a disaster from the beginning. This isn't fatigue it's rejection.
The problem I think VFX has to render a very complex scene so they come at the last moment and want to change everything , so the artists have to redo the work because an idiot does not understand the complexity of the project And the artists have to work until late hours , because if they don't do it, they'll be left behind on the scheduled date, and yet another person comes and wants new changes after the deadline .And I have a certain suspicion that artists are not being rewarded enough to have to deal with this stress and scoundrel.
I work as an 3d modeler and animator. well i do much more simple stuff compared to MCU. All i can say is Rendering in high quality takes time modeling, Sculpting, Texturing takes effort. A Buyer Changing their creative decision after 90% work is done is nothing but a nightmare.
@@JunayedMahin Yup. It takes me few days just to render a photorealistic walking model. Not to mention thousands of props, cameras and dealing with light issues. People just don't understand how tiresome it can get just to make a simple 60 secs animated frame. While we spend the long nights working, these woke idiot goons sleep comfortably, and bitch the next morning about how genius and perfect they are to criticize our work.
Remember when Michael Bay killed the explosion phenomenon with all his Transformer movies? That's what it feels like with Disney, DC, Sony, and Amazon. We got to greedy with these cinematic universes, the companies went, "F- it" and just shoved the movies down our throats whether we want them or not, to placate the *victims/whiners* and now, they don't register anymore. We just don't care; I get that change is important, but when you put all your eggs into "the message" basket, making inclusiveness an *exclusive* force instead of balanced, and leaving character and story to stagnate and wither, we will move on, just like with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Halloween, or Terminator.
Maybe I'm not in the majority here but I loved the boys. It's probably the most realistic in terms of what would actually happen if people had super powers
Wanna know the funny truth that none of these guys want to admit? The Boys is the single most political, left wing, woke piece of super hero media that is out there but NO ONE CARES because it is written amazingly, nothing that happens in the story feels forced, they lay out characters and scenarios in a world where all of the views preached and THE MESSAGE play out on their own without having to say it
It pains me to admit I know people who will say things like "I watch it for fun, not because its good". And I'm like "this isn't fun, its bland boring shiet". I grew up in the 90's. To look back and realize 1995-2014 was peak cinema is wild
And practical effect as well as CGI were done better 6-10 years ago which is insane. Video games for the most part have improved visually (same woke issues though), but cinema has taken a deep dive in nearly every regard..
@@tb1235 (I agree with your statement, I'm just adding my thoughts here) Realism in visual fidelity, both in cinema and video games, should not be a factor in quality IMO. You work WITH the medium. This is why I refuse to buy remakes and even remasters. The art is context bound to a certain time. Modernizing it, or comparing it to modern works is pointless. (You can however compare modern works to older art, as it is then a critique of whether progress has been good or bad)
This is from a review of The Eternals, by Donald Clarke in the The Irish Times: "Large parts of Chloé Zhao’s film find the impressively starry cast…sitting in dark rooms discussing the film’s gimcrack theology. If they weren’t dressed like members of Earth Wind & Fire you could be forgiven for thinking you were watching a left-wing book group in a trendier corner of Portland. “Just relax and have fun,” critics of Marvel are often told. I would if I could, darling." Pretty much sums it up.
Definitely fatigued to the point that if an "action movie" protagonist is a strong, empowered wymyn I just write it off automatically without a second thought.
Exactly the same. Don't even bother watching if its a female lead and also avoid if its marketed as a male heroes adventure but he's partnered up with one or several women. I don't understand how the audience is mostly male but they introduce a female action hero who then spends the duration of the movie making misandrist, hateful and bigoted comments and they expect the male audience to support her? How can men support her when she's degrading half the population the entire movie or show
Yep. It used to be that if I saw a minority character in a trailer or something, I wouldn't bat an eye because that character would likely be given the same amount of care as any other. Now, I feel skeptical, wondering if a minority character was put in to fill a quota and not because they were just the right character for that spot in the story.
Disney Marvel has become a psy-op to redefine the word "hero" and its derivatives. By placing the word "super" in front of characters now defined by narcissism, self-righteous activism, and selfishness, a new generation will grow up not understanding the true courage of humility, morality, and self-sacrifice.

As someone who has been writing for a hobby for 20years, a story is no different than chemistry or baking their is a structure and order to it. the Biggest problem is every story needs a different point of view but a consistent one you cant do that with too many POVs. If you are making a pie at any point you can decide on a different filling or topping. The crust is almost always the same and has a couple variations. But you can't half way through making it have six other bakers decide your apple pie should have blueberries in it because they think it'll be a novel idea, and sure maybe you can pull it off but another cook will add something and another and another until your pie is now a damn Fruit cake... I didn't want a fruit cake... why do I now have a fruit cake? Disney had too many cooks in the kitchen. Entertainment is food for the soul you can make the comparison at any level. Shitty Entertainment is like eating our favourite comfort food every day but only that. The same thing every day, it never changes, it's bright filling and we can overindulge to the point that we cannot even get off the couch or leave our homes. But when those people finally stumble upon a home cooked meal or make it themselves, share it with others. A Single basement chef bored of the same old takes the time to prepare with thought patience and practice something they are proud to share and maybe inspire us to ask "How do you make that?" I haven't seen a movie that's made me ask that in a long time. Much luv F.T.WR.

A big part of this whole problem is the fact that years ago movies and shows were made for a target audience. Nowadays those markets just aren’t big enough for the behemoths that these companies have grown into. So unfortunately, this is the result, they create movies and shows based on certain metrics that they feel will garner the most viewership while upsetting the least amount of people.
However, in this case, they are upsetting the Normie’s many of which are at an age where most of their discomfort goes unheard, since they don’t even use social media outlets to complain in the first place. Just a reminder, it was never Kevin Feige alone that made the MCU a success. It was him, Avi Arad, and Ike Perlmutter, and they primarily only handled the business end of it.
The success on the creative front came primarily from Jon Favereau, Joss Whedon, and the Russo Brothers.

When I was a kid, I enjoyed saving up my quarters to buy comics. Storm became the new leader of the X-men by beating Cyclops in battle even though she had lost her powers. Anything Disney touches they over-saturate the product and when they start putting in their Ideas, it turns to Fecal matter.

That is plain logic. It shouldn't be just your opinion but it seems that THE MESSAGE is more important than anything
"Inclusivity/ Diversity" is a euphemism for "erase straight white men."
Personally, if the new "preference" takes away from who the character really is, it's despicable and sad. Hey, I KNOW!

But...

No more M-B-U (M-Black-U).. they turned Marvel into the Jeffersons!.. way too many Blacks in these Marvel Movies!!
The M-She-U is NOT facing fatigue, that implies at some point it worked, NONE OF IT HAS WORKED, it's been a disaster from the beginning. This isn't fatigue it's rejection.
Feige has not talent. He just chose from a list of ready made characters. He's basically a multi millionaire for being good at ordering from a menu
The Matt Walsh drop was HILARIOUS and PERFECT comedic timing!
Nothing like listening to Matt Walsh who is for child brides. Are you for grooming?
The problem I think VFX has to render a very complex scene so they come at the last moment and want to change everything , so the artists have to redo the work because an idiot does not understand the complexity of the project And the artists have to work until late hours , because if they don't do it, they'll be left behind on the scheduled date, and yet another person comes and wants new changes after the deadline .And I have a certain suspicion that artists are not being rewarded enough to have to deal with this stress and scoundrel.
They aren't. They are getting less pay than any other VFX job for triple the amount of work. Why do you think they are trying to unionize right now?
Well they need to have better contracts, or form a union.
It does try to have a little to much social commentary in my opinion but it's still entertaining as hell.
@@alphamoose4385 I feel like they did a good job at poking fun of it, though. Seems to be clear that it is satirizing those concepts.
Wanna know the funny truth that none of these guys want to admit? The Boys is the single most political, left wing, woke piece of super hero media that is out there but NO ONE CARES because it is written amazingly, nothing that happens in the story feels forced, they lay out characters and scenarios in a world where all of the views preached and THE MESSAGE play out on their own without having to say it
"We don't have superhero fatigue, we have dog sh@t fatigue". -------- Eric July, creator of the ripperverse.
Except it wasn't. Haven't you ever wacthed movies from the 70s and 80s?
shite is the correct spelling
This is from a review of The Eternals, by Donald Clarke in the The Irish Times:
"Large parts of Chloé Zhao’s film find the impressively starry cast…sitting in dark rooms discussing the film’s gimcrack theology. If they weren’t dressed like members of Earth Wind & Fire you could be forgiven for thinking you were watching a left-wing book group in a trendier corner of Portland. “Just relax and have fun,” critics of Marvel are often told. I would if I could, darling."
Pretty much sums it up.
I loved "The Message" lifted straight from the Critical Drinker. Great insert.
So incredibly saddened by all of this. Once again all the wrong people have the power (over decisions) and the money.
@@MegamanXfan21xx I dislike it by default
The Tomb Raider and Charlie’s Angels movies of the 2000s were awesome. Just pure action with no feminist agenda 👍🏾👍🏾
Where can I find that Captain America shirt?
Disney Marvel has become a psy-op to redefine the word "hero" and its derivatives. By placing the word "super" in front of characters now defined by narcissism, self-righteous activism, and selfishness, a new generation will grow up not understanding the true courage of humility, morality, and self-sacrifice.
That j Jonah Jameson bit took me out😂😂😂
Phase 28 is when it gets really good
I am looking forward to phase 28 the most
Hey Disney, stop with the she! Movie goers and streaming customers are over it! Don't cast color, cast talent. Don't hire color, hire talent to produce/write. Thanks. Stop reshoots!
The quote of the century. "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to become the villain".
Except for Hell Boy, Spawn, Blade, and Superman. They all started off as villains and became heroes. 👍🏿👍🏿
@@MiguelDLewis correction: Wesley snipes blade from new line cinema however Disney marvel blade reboot is questionable and shouldn't be ruled out.
Hopefully this will come to an end. But, we know Antman will have him being the butt of all the jokes while the Wasp and Cassie will be the strong heroes that save the day.

Yep you're right
😂 you called it

Gary is killing it with the biting commentary, awesome!!!
Been to every MCU movie midnight showing (now early preview day) with the exception of black widow of course… This is the first time not buying tickets on opening weekend. 🖕 Disney! I’m out
You hit it out of the park again Gary. Great work megadude!
I would pay big money to see Nerdrotic interview Kevin Feige.
Nerdrotic would likely spam a bunch of cringe reactionary buzz words, and look like a jackass
@@MrBooone You are projecting
@@MrBooone I’m guessing you haven’t watched his videos for while. He’s very well spoken. Kevin Feige would just dodge each question anyway because he doesn’t to risk being canceled by the woke mob. He’d rather bend the knee, and keep losing money.
Dictionary word for that would be "slaughter".
@@BSJ-Unparalleled i feel bad for Kevin only for building such a big franchise lik this and let it go down the drain cause of woke mob
A Single basement chef bored of the same old takes the time to prepare with thought patience and practice something they are proud to share and maybe inspire us to ask "How do you make that?"
I haven't seen a movie that's made me ask that in a long time.
Much luv
