Honestly i enjoyed the fact that his MOM was the abusive one instead of the dad. It kinda shows that they still somewhat care to show women as something other than strong, independent, perfect innocent angels
Agreed. Issac's perfomance and episode 5 were the best in the series, surprise surprise, the only one that didn't have Layla saving Steven for 40 minutes
Holy shit that scene where that kid said “are you an Egyptian hero?” And she answered was so out of place and had current Hollywood written all over it 💀
I will give Gary that, that was a bs moment, probably the only complaint I have about the entire show. Also you’re telling me that that girl automatically assumed the woman who saved her was Egyptian?
As someone who live in Egypt for a while, I quite enjoyed this series. I also enjoyed the Arabic language being accurate and the credits music using modern Egyptian music. Also, I didn't really get the impression that this series was woke. As far as the "Are you an Egyptian hero" comment from random girl, it was more an Egyptian pride signal than a virtue signal. After all, Egyptians are very self conscious of their history.
can we please add that the director took to twitter how awful the depiction of Egypt in other films and shows was, only showing pyramids cheap laborers and some dirty markets. So how he took it upon himself to normalize and modernize our vision of Egypt. Just to show us pyramids, some cheap laborers and dirty markets all over again? Thank you Mr Diab.
I find it more egregious for the director to use rule of cool over a proper depiction of a god in its purview. Especially if you're trying to ride in on the authentic representation horse. Pyramids, shady markets, mummies, and scarab themes are cool. Disrespecting peoples religion and gods is not. Or am I out of date with the npc patch notes?
@@jasonspencer8558 If you speak as a local and you recognized the actual places of his sets? good for you, but as someone who's not from Egypt to me what the guy did looked just bad. And that's true that there was exactly nothing new in this compared to what Hollywood did before, Idk which movie you watched with "way more culture".
More like a Moon Knight Pinball video game from "Zen Pinball 2" was a better adaptation of the character than the Marvel Studios version. (Worth a buy, if you haven't already).
This is exactly what I've been talking about, & people want to act like she's not the problem in the show she definitely is half of the reason this show sucks.
I think you forgot to mention that Khonshu revealed that he NEVER wanted Layla at all in the post credit scene because Mark was more troubled and easier for him to use because of his personas
He lied to Mark about wanting Layla so that Mark obey him. But this guy for some reason wants every character in the mcu to be edgy, dark and narcissistic.

@@farhadarian2 Uh, no. Sony literally made the movie. They own the Spider-Man film rights. Marvel Studios co-produced it and gets 25% of the cut. That’s it.
What is it with OCs replacing actual comic characters and pushing them aside?! There's plenty of characters that they can bring in live action, they just seemed to not bother to look it up.
Oh, we definitely got a bad dad. Marc's father was inept and cowardly, he didn't want anything to do with either of them when he left to enlist in the military.
Exactly he was such a wuss I'm glad I'm not the only one who realized this, this dude let his wife abuse marc & did nothing the entire time, just pathetic the Mcu sinks to new lows with terrible father figures.
@@elongatedmanforever1252 But Marc's father was like this in the comics too. In the comics, Marc's mother died when he was a kid and his father got constantly beaten & mugged by thugs every single day. Never fighting back. Marc Spector grew up seeing his father as a pathetic loser and lost all respect for him. Which inspired Marc to learn to fight and train himself at the gym. Marc also beat the shit out of his dad for interrupting his boxing match and while Marc's Dad laid on the floor, Marc signed out a form to join the Marines and abandoned his father for 15 years. His Dad would die of old age sometime during Marc's superhero career as Moon Knight, never seeing his son again and never getting an apology. (So yeah, Marc's Dad has always been a pathetic loser).
@@RamsTheNameCom Yeah that's very much a trend in comics as well, truth be told it's hard to find good father figures there, because a lot of them are just trash not to say they don't exist in there but the ones I see a lot of are vile, lame or spineless Or abusive or like peacemakers dad from the show a generic racist asshole who hates his son for no reason, if there are any good father figures in comics you can let me know but a lot of them especially in movies are terrible.
@@elongatedmanforever1252 To be fair, Peacemaker's father was a Nazi in the original comics. They only retcon it so that the DC racist villain "The White Dragon" was his father. Some comics with great father figures include: Superman, Zatanna, Ms. Marvel (Kamala), The Phantom, Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes), Ragman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), and HellCat. In HellCat's case, her mother was a selfish and entitled woman who put herself above her children. HellCat's Father got a divorce and fought hard in court to take his kids with him, but of course the mother ended up getting full custody of their children. The mother would go on to tell lies about how awful of a human being HellCat's father was. HellCat eventually learns the truth about how much her father loved her, after her mother died.

I have to admit for not knowing anything about moonknight I did enjoy the show. But I understand why fans of the original comics find it disrespectful and not the level it should be. I always wanted to see Moon Knight adapted. It’s honestly incredible how dull the execution was. He’s one of the most inherently “bad ass” characters Marvel has, but they somehow made it lame.
C'mon, man, this show wasn't that bad, especially for a D+ show. Sure, some of the scenes were kind of cringey, but the story was interesting, and there was an element of mystery, and most of all Oscar Isaac's performance was quite good. I don't care about Layla or the Scarlet Scarab, but don't think her presence poisoned the show too much. They could have made her much more insufferable. Of course, I come to all current Marvel projects with extremely low expectations, which does increase the odds of being pleasantly surprised.
Jesus Christ. One of your first main talking points is that she is “riding around and randomly finds him”. Literally, IN THE SAME SCENE, Steven says “How did you find me” and she says “I tracked your phone”. Did you even watch the show?
Fight scenes are expensive. You have to choreograph them, rehearse them, and film them multiple times, then the editing is really hard. It's much cheaper to shoot a bunch of green-screen CGI afterlife bullshit. This is the same reason there was hardly any kung-fu in _Iron Fist,_ and why _Reacher_ stopped having any fight scenes after the first few episodes. Also why all the fight scenes in the old Star Trek shows were laughable, but we forgive them for that.
@@Bacteriophagebs I thought we forgave them for the same reason we forgave old school godzilla. Watching him waddle around and destroy the prop buildings. It's the what's trying to be told and shown in the story over just flash. Disney has lots of flash but not substance to the story.
Such a disappointing show. It had some decent ideas but the execution just wasn't there. The MPD thing was lame, Mr. Robot did it better. Ethan Hawke's character was bland and boring. Layla was more of the same. Terrible writing & action too.
This dude literally complains about every single damn thing and he just gets pissed that theres a female that has a good character hes ranting like he doesnt get bitches
It’s so weird how these people are so dogmatic about the secondary aspects of the show and not, like, the themes. Or maybe the, uh, symbolism. And instead seem very concerned about how the differences from the comics to the show is obviously the result of an evil plot to destroy the alpha males
You mispronounced Annubis but not surprised sense you also didn't know that in Egyptian mythology that tarawet does fairy people across the underworld Annubis just runs it. I would love to hear how many people actually love the villain the scarlet scarab and care that the name changed to a new hero. Not many people knew about moon knight so not knowing Marc was the main persona or not knowing about Jake lockley isn't a stretch. Also, idk if you missed the dialogue in the post credit scene but khonshu does reveal that he never wanted Layla because Marc is so broken "why would I need anyone else". Also the childhood trauma is very accurate as to how people get DID and not just "oh guess what I need a billionaire persona". I mean Honestly do you think if they kept that billionaire persona it'd be better? You would probably sit her and say "they are just trying to copy batman". I also love how you don't have a save counter for all the times Steven and Marc save Layla because God forbid something doesn't fit with your message. It's hilarious how hard you try rag on everything marvel. Do the shows and movies have issues yeah, are they like DC movie level bad where they completely miss the mark, no.
Its funny, I used to think like you that Nerdrotic was just some Misandrist ranting against Marvel, that he couldn't be right, but more and more I'm seeing the influence of "THE MESSAGE" over good storytelling and when I watched Dr. Strange 2 and watched him essentially go "The power was in you all along, strong independent Woman" I couldn't help but think of his predictions.
@@Nehesi that's a trope that goes back to the wizard of OZ. I'm sorry man, but this video has way too much hypocrisy. You changed too many facts to fit your narrative. 0:13 - Not a bait and switch. It was advertised as a psychological story about Steven Grant, and him learning about Marc and Moon Knight with some Indiana Jones moments in there. We got exactly what was advertised. 0:35 - I don't see why this should be taken poorly. Scarlet Scarab from the comics was very obscure and nobody even liked the character to begin with. What they did to Taskmaster was shitty, this was not. 2:27 - That was *your* favourite run, not the run the series was based off. If I'm not mistaken, the series took more inspiration from Jeff Lemire and Greg Smallwood's run. 2:39 - They say you only see what you wish to see. This is clear in your words. I watched a series about Marc, viewed majorly through the eyes of Steven. I did not watch a story about Steven and Layla. The lack of Moon Knight wasn't good, but as an origin story it worked well enough. Still, they could have taken notes from Daredevil. 3:09 - Compare Batman and Daredevil. Bruce Wayne has less problems than Matt Murdock does, and this is because of the money difference. If Steven Grant was written as a billionaire playboy, it removes half the intrigue of the show and will become "Batman, but less interesting", where half his problems are solved with money, or plot holes are created because half the problems could have been solved with money. 3:43 - Not everyone knows this. Superheroes have become more mainstream, and a lot of people who watched the show probably never knew who Moon Knight was. The reveal of Steven being Marc's alter was directed towards them, not us. 4:18 - We were never shown how the Kingpin built his empire in Daredevil, but that worked out well. This has a similar intrigue in the beginning few episodes where you never knew who was a follower of Ammit. 4:51 - He's not Ammit's avatar. He became her avatar at the end, but he doesn't have a costume because he isn't a warrior (or atleast lost his ability to fight, resulting in his need for a cane. It's established that he used to be a warrior for Khonshu). 5:51 - It takes a real good eye to notice the other characters are "diverse", especially considering that Osiris' avatar (the main guy talking) is a white male. 6:45 - It's a showing of faith similar to walking on hot coal. He also does mention that he repents the sins he committed once (probably as Khonshu's avatar), which is probably why he did that. 8:45 - First off, it's pronounced "Aah-nu-bis" not "Eh-na-bes". Secondly, a little bit of research will tell you that Tawaret is infact responsible for bringing life through birth, and equally responsible for cleansing the souls of the dead and allowing them to pass through the afterlife. 8:56 - Okay, now I'm sure that we were watching different shows. Although I can respect opinions. 9:34 - Not because they are missing one heart, but rather because either Steven or Marc's heart isn't pure. 11:33 - I'm pretty sure the reason why Layla did't want to be an avatar was because she saw what it did to Marc. Nothing to do with the "Fierce, independent woman" argument. 12:08 - I'm pretty sure the gates of "Osiris" were opened by, well... Osiris. The god in control of the aforementioned white male from the ennead. 12:30 - Moon Knight's powers are derived from the moon. He is at maximum power when the moon is full, and the moon was full. 12:58 - That's Tawaret in control of Layla, not Layla herself. 13:38 - I've seen worse from better films. It's a pet peeve but not a criticism. 15:20 - Okay, erm... That's not a "Disney-Marvel problem", that's a Marvel comics creative decision. Ever since Spiderman, Marvel has made their heroes more relatable instead of being "Alpha males" that have no personal problems whatsoever. Even Superman's most loved character trait is that he is apologetic, wholesome and a boy scout. A good superhero show isn't "Good guy beats bad guy", it's one with a good character and actual moral problems beyond just the bad guy. Again, opinions are valid. 15:32 - Experts have stated that Moon Knight's depiction of DID was accurate and well done. 15:48 - I guess the professional critical reception to the show should be wrong then, because it seems like Moon Knight was highly appreciated. Even Marvel didn't anticipate it to be as good as it was, with rumors that they want Moon Knight to return for an unplanned sequel. Also, I do believe that Marc has saved Layla many times, which weren't mentioned here for some reason (not to mention the fact that he literally tries to protect her from Khonshu throughout the show). For someone who seems heavily against mixing politics and entertainment (also known as being "woke"), you seem to love mixing politics with your form of entertainment. Either you are an extreme hypocrite, or you don't keep an open mind when reviewing Disney stuff. The show wasn't perfect, but it's still better than you make it out to be. For those who are reading this, I don't hate Gary or anything, but I do call out BS when I see it. Although he made some good criticisms a lot of it was pure BS.
Awesome list, but I'd like to add... 5:32 - His example of bad CGI is from a Scooby Doo movie. It's inserted to imply it's from this show, but it's not. The actual jackal monster is shown just a few seconds later. Seems pretty dishonest. 6:35 - In the Layla/bodyguard fight, the bodyguard was manhandling her until she stabbed him. He had literally just tossed her across the room a frame before, and she realized she had no chance and resorted to her knives. And yes, 2 knives in the chest would end any fight, even against someone bigger and stronger. I'm sure I could go on, but frankly I don't feel like watching this biased "review" again. It's clear that he likes to cherry pick scenes to fit his narrative. That is not to say that the show was perfect, but this guy does not paint an accurate picture. Then again, "hate for clicks" seems popular these days, so I have no doubt that it's deliberate.
Two more things to add to your list that Gary conveniently forgot to mention are that Layla didn’t randomly find Marc in London, in the scene right after that she mentions how she tracked his phone, and that it was revealed that the avatar for Osiris was in league with harrow the whole time and that’s why the ennead let him go free, not because they were ignorant. I really hate how he intentionally leaves out critical information just to push his narrative
I won't say Moon Knight was "Noir Batman-ish", he was basically a return to The Shadow, but with Italian Macabre elements. (Probably why he got popular in Italy)

I liked Moon Knight and this man is painfully stupid. Taweret is here because in some Egyptian myths she guards the souls of the dead travelling to the underworld, she is also a god of resurrection.... 2 minute google search. Khonsu admitted that he didn't want Layla at the end, he was using her to scare Marc into compliance. Khonsu also didn't really want Marc, he wanted Jake because Jake is a psychotic killing machine. Layla also didn't want to be an avatar because a. She wasnt dying like Marc was when he accepted b. because she saw the toll that it took on Marc/Steven. Layla escaping the fake cops isn't that awesome, she hides outside and is clearly scared (time stamp 4.11) The 2nd Layla save count makes no sense, he falls beside her scooter. It's also pointless, neither Marc/Steven,Layla or Khonsu save the day in the end, Jake does. The multiracial/gender avatars.....I'm sorry a 50 something odd man crying about this is cringe, it's just cringe. The reason Harrow puts glass in his shoes is explained when he meets Ammit, again this man is painfully stupid. I'm gonna be honest here, I could tell just from the snippets of trailers I've seen online that this... show... was going to be trash. It was the look of Marc Spector and how he was presented visually that was my biggest clue. While I was familiar with Moon Knight for a long time, I got my first real taste of him from the Charlie Huston run, "The Bottom." I met Marc at his dirtiest, his grittiest, his meanest... and I loved it. THAT was my Moon Knight. I knew Disney couldn't possibly touch that version and do it any justice, but what I learned from The Bottom was that Marc Spector was not necessarily a very nice person. He was a mercenary. A soldier. A trained killer. I look at Disney's depiction of Marc and I see... a scared little man. The foppish hair. The constant scenes and shots of him looking all out of sorts, making me think of an awkward teen who somehow got lost at the mall and was just bumbling around hoping to stumble onto the group of friends he came in with. He just looked so... insecure and scared. The Marc I knew was a lot of things. Disturbed, paranoid even. But not insecure and scared like this. And now I hear that he apparently needed some gender-flipped version of another obscure character to bail his bacon out of the fire. Look, we're talking about Moon Knight. A vigilante hero who wore bright white at night so that his enemies would see him coming and be too afraid to shoot straight. A guy who literally removed the face of one of his biggest enemies. A guy who turned the Taskmaster into a crying heap. The FIst of Khonshu, avatar of the Egyptian god of vengeance... and you're telling me Disney decided THIS GUY needed to be SAVED? See, I would get on the "boycott Disney Minus" bandwagon... but I never had a subscription in the first place. And shows like this are a big reason for that. Thank you for your hard work, Gary.
Yeah, part of the issue here is that the MCU Moon Knight team wanted to adapt the Jeff Lemire 2016 reboot version of Moon Knight which depicted him as a "Scared little man". Literally removing his aggressive behavior since childhood, to instead depict him as a scared loner with mental health issues that needed his father. Only leaving him to join the Marines because he felt lost and scared when his father died. As oppose to the original comics where Marc Spector saw his father as a weak pathetic loser growing up, who got constantly beaten by thugs in the city. Marc trained himself at the Gym to toughen up, because he didn't want to be seen as weak and pathetic as his father. Marc wanted people to be intimidated by him and back off. Eventually his father caught on that his son was boxing and tried to stop him, Marc reacts by beating the shit out of his dad and then out of spite, signs out a form to join the Marines while his father lays on the floor and abandons him. (Moving on to kill innocent people and children for fun/money during his mercenary career, gets betrayed by Bushman, dies, and gets reborn vowing to redeem his past actions as a Superhero). So basically the MCU version of Moon Knight is a water down loose adaptation, of an already water down loose version of Moon Knight in comics. And hilariously enough The director came out and said the Jeff Lemire version of Moon Knight wasn't their original plan. They actually originally wanted to do the 2011 Bendis version of Moon Knight (the one who thinks he's Spiderman, Captain America, and Wolverine). Also known as the Black Sheep of Moon Knight comics..... It feels like no one working at Marvel Studios actually cares about Moon Knight, just mental health representation and Egyptian culture diversity.
I definitely wanted to see bloody spiked knuckles and someone's face beaten to a pulp. Would have settled for at least a character resembling MK from the comics, not a flying mummy with a magic suit.
@@megabear8905 sure did. I'm not one of those "well it doesn't look great but let me give it a chance first" people. If I see the trailers or ads and it looks like trash, then to me, it is trash. Especially if the network or company producing it has a strong history of producing trash.

I see this comment alot. I feel the line has been misinterpreted by so many people. Being an "Egyptian superhero" doesn't mean that Layla has become a superhero who is Egyptian, but rather she became a superhero responsible for the protection of Egypt. She's not a superhero who happens to be an Egyptian, she's an Egyptian superhero in the same way Sunfire is a Japanese superhero, Shamrock is an Irish superhero, Peregrine is a French superhero and Outlaw is a British anti-hero. If she works on an international scale (say she protects London), then you could say this line was pure corny wokeness, until then it seems misinterpreted by way too many people (either that or I perceive it differently).
The series was definitely more enjoyable than the other Disney+ MCU series. The pacing was terrible, they have too many of the “Omg Jake Lockley” moments instead of showing it. The series should’ve had more supernatural and horror scenes. They should’ve cut the “Are you an Egyptian superhero?” scene. The girl should’ve been scared, traumatized and running for her life, she just saw tons of people drop down dead.
@@thorneto2742 that's great then, if it empowered a handful kids it's pretty cool, but it's just that they shouldn't use the race or orientation of any character to relate to a character , for example I'm not a white dude from new york , I live in India , I could relate to tobey Very well in the Raimi series when I was akid.. I related to him because he faced similar family problems , relation ship issues like me , not because he was a specific race or orientation.. the current movies make being a specific race or orientation in itself to be sort of super power.. which really sucks.. just write good characters,, that all we ask..
I liked the show but I felt some of that M-She-U nonsense coming out. I enjoyed the great acting from Oscar Isaac but I hated the lack of Moon Knight in the show. He was literally in the entire show for about 10 to 15 minutes
Same. It was an interesting show if you didn't know how Moon Knight was in the comic book. Probably the best one from D+ so far. Disney just can't handle superheroes with their current LG TV+ and feminist agenda. Also Oscar Isaac's contract was only for this show, so it is probably we won't see anymore Moon Knight in the foreseeable future.
m-she-u lmao what there's still barely any female superheroes compared to the amount of male ones. the shows that everyones complaining about are also mostly focusing on male heroes with cameos or introductions of female ones on the side.
@@ShadowSonic2 Yes because the M-He-U you speak of was all about the story and source material. M-She-U focuses on pushing some crappy social agenda. The gender-swapping of male characters to female is a good example. Looking beyond Disney+ and you'll see why woke shows like Batwoman failed. Ghostbusters reboot: failed. There are great female characters in Comics and fiction but they are great because of their abilities and awesome storylines, not solely on their gender. Sarah Connor, Wonder Woman and Ellen Ripley to name a few.
She's his wife man I think not everything's about politics here. She's set up as an explorer from the start and why wouldn't she save him he saved her too from that jackal thing
The one Steven save I didn’t mind much was the flare one. Though not sure if a flare would explode the ammo crate, she had to save him using her wits instead of being a generic warrior woman.
@@elongatedmanforever1252 far from it. She scraped by most of her scuffles by the skin of her teeth, not dissimilar from the hobbits somehow man again to kill orcs and Uruk-hai in the LotR films. As far as strong female characters go, she was the most bearable we’ve seen from Disney in a looooooong time.
@@ManSeekingMeaning No she wasn't dude, she was utterly insufferable and annoying, she basically did everything while Marc & Steven bumbled around. Yeah sure "She got Scrapped", from fighting a mummy and also the time a man twice her size threw her against a pole & she shook it off like nothing, She seems to be able to fight enemies without getting hurt or dying, While Moon knight literally gets stabbed multiple times, she also becomes terawatts avatar and becomes a expert with using her abilities rey Skywalker style yep she's definitely "Tolerable" as she essentially does everything, and says she doesn't need "Protecting" very subtle dialogue.
@@elongatedmanforever1252 like I said the only save I didn’t mind was the flare one, the rest of the time she was generally cringeworthy. She tracked Steven down after he was kidnapped, she held her own against a big body guard, escaped from a mummy that grabbed her, and she was suddenly an expert fighter at the end. No bueno.
I didn’t think this series was nearly as bad as Loki and Hawkeye in terms of the women stealing the show. Leila wasn’t nearly as bad and everything with her was atleast earned way more than everything with echo in hawkeye
She’s like a more confident, adventurous, brash Evelyn from the mummy series. And evie is top tier!! I’d give the series a 7/10, it was pretty good but it lacked quite abit
Yeah you’re right most of this criticism is just him angry that lelia saves mark who is a noob while she has years of experience in the mercenary field
Some 'critics' seems to think that just having a woman or minority in your show automatically makes it 'woke shit'. They also eat Tidepods for breakfast
Don’t necessarily agree with this being the worst Marvel series yet, let alone being bad at all. Oscar Isaac proved how great of an actor he is, while episode 5 left me heartbroken and teary-eyed by the end. While Steven was initially not likeable for me, by the finale I was rooting for him and Marc equally which really shows how good the characterization was for both personalities. Honestly, I’m not too bothered with Layla being her own superhero as the Scarlet Scarab. She didn’t come across as OP (i.e. actually struggled against Harrow’s goons/didn’t single handedly defeat Harrow). I was worried for a bit that she was gonna actually gonna take up the mantle of Moon Knight which would’ve completely turned off any of my interests in the show. Although, it did occasionally come across my realization that Layla was saving Marc/Steven a little too often.
I agree with you - this show was entertaining, and Oscars performance was Emmy worthy. Also a show I looked forward to, and it met my expectations. Ms marvel on the other hand is nothing I look forward to, and it is not on my watch list. Probably no loss skipping it. I rather watch the obi wan show- hopefully it won’t be a total shit show
Not significantly any more (if even) than Marc/Steven/Jake saved her, though. Episode 2: Steven saves Layla from the Jackal. It's the first time he shows confidence in action. Episode 3: Marc protects Layla from the firing squad with his cloak, and later saves her from Anton Mogart who struck her down Episode 4: Steven kills the mummy was chasing Layla, later Marc faces the Disciples of Ammit, allowing Layla to hide Episode 6: Steven tackles Harrow right as he has Layla pinned, later on Jake saves everyone, including Layla Layla got saved 7 times.
I don't get his hate at all. The characterization of Steven and Marc was wonderful and the show didn't feel feminist or race bending at all. Nerdrotic is too much foxed on anti-sjw, to the point where he sees everything as sjw propaganda.
@@dipanjanghosal1662 There are times where "woke" stuff is glaringly significant, out of place, and deserving of being called out (Ghostbusters 2016, Terminator Dark Fate, Amazon's LOTR etc). But, it's important to recognise when it's legitimate "wokeness" on display, and when it's not, otherwise you just risk diluting the overall point you're trying to make.
HAHA! I was yelling at the screen "THERE'S AN APP FOR THAT!" You don't need to actually REVERSE TIME just to determine where the constellations were at different points in history! lol I guess maybe Konchu is an old Egyptian god and isn't aware of Astrology or computer software?
Moon knight was fucking fantastic. She wasn’t some Mary sue she fought the entire show dodging gunfire and killing MFs you’re just a hater for any kind of women in media. I know her power up was a bit random but it was necessary to help and moon knight ended up saving the day in the end while she was helpless. Go rewatch the show.
Googled Taweret and it took, I dunno, 45 seconds to find out why she was guiding people in the land of the dead. Nice glossing over who actually beats Harrow too, doesn't fit your narrative I guess.
The "crazy" stuff was always a shit take. The original Moon Knight was not a loon. He acted as 4 different people to gain an advantage in his war in crime. Thats a far more interesting, nuanced take then just "crazy." And I won't say I had high hopes for this show, but I didnt think it would suck. Because there's nothing in the Moon Knight mythos that they could use to WOKE the character. Boy was I wrong. It's like the producers just saw "Egypt" on Moon Knights Wikipedia page and wrote the entire show around that. It's like the entire show was just a launching pad for their new female Egyptian superhero that they obviously care about way more than the audience does.
Are we talking about the moon knight that punched werewolves here? I mean if you wanna compare him to modern day comics he’s pretty fucking normal in this show compared to the comics. I also don’t personally agree having 4 disguises is more interesting than his mind shattering into these disguises, and having the character try and fight crime whilst trying to heal the best he can. What’s wrong about expanding the Egyptian mythos of his powers? You don’t seem to really specify apart from Layla becoming an Egyptian superhero, which is weird cause my complaint is it was crammed in to the finale and forgotten about. But you’re saying they spent more time with her than Marc and Steven?? Did we forget episode 5 had the two of them having all the screen time??
I beg to differ. Layla is a typical sidekick, and as such, she gets her moments to shine when the hero is down. But the hero gets to deliver the finishing blow. Which is Mark's *third* personality, but it is still Mark's *body* and NOT Layla. As to how she knows how to use her powers: how does Mark? Not even Steven can know lyrics to the mumbo-jumbo _let's-banish-an-immortal-god-into-a-mortal-body_ ritual. They don't teach that in gift shop school. Well, the series makes it abundantly clear how *avatars* work, which is they are basically _possessed_ by their respective gods - who even need to ask _permission_ for it to work (and in Layla's case, I could not even see that happening clearly in all that noise of the building crumbling around her, which would show her as even _weaker_ than Mark, but what do I know?). Being an avatar is all about temporarily forfeiting control over your own body, which is what we see regularly in this show. When the _gods_ take control, their vessels don't need to know shit about how to do anything while they are on remote control. Just like Steven. How does he get that nifty suit? Just wish for it - Konshu grants it. Does Layla do anything different? And why would the gods *_not_* assist their vessels in the fight by granting them superhuman reflexes - I mean, that's what divine powers and superhero powers are all about, right? I really don't see significant differences here that would disqualify the Layla character.
Layla just isn't a good character imo she comes off as unlikable and annoying and makes me wish she wasn't in the show at all, she reeks of the modern female character rhetoric where they have to always be a badass fighter who wins no matter what and has a Jessica jones personality.
The show was horrible dude, they dragged out the 3rd personality for no reason teasing a second season which we probably won't get, and Layla and Steven were the worst characters in the show.
I think this dude appeals more to like fast and furious where these is constant action. I actually like moon knight because it was more character focused rather than just a generic dude in a suit kicking ass it actually made moon knight different from other characters
The man literally says that show would be better if instead making the multiple personalities fleshed out and interesting, he should just fight a furry instead
If you haven't seen the other Marvel TV shows aside from these D+ rubbish, then stop spouting nonsense coz you haven't even seen any good Marvel show YET.

It was far from perfect but I didn’t think was downright terrible. I really liked Oscar Issac’s portrayal of the character and I do hope we get more of his Moon Knight in the future.
Dont expect any 'toxic masculinity' from the MCU anytime in the future, just plenty of strong flawless females even if they dont have super powers will end up saving so called 'heroes.'
what’s wrong with female superhero’s?! also if you actually watch the show you know that the original scarlet scarab is her father☠️ y’all just be talking out of y’all asses
You know if there was a show featuring a character that could’ve rivaled Daredevil it would’ve been Moon Knight. Daredevil remains untouched I’m afraid. Side note: where the hell is Bushman? He would’ve been better
The Punisher had promise. Great casting of the man himself. Season one was.... Decent.... Then season 2 plummeted down with the smarmy, annoying little girl (who is the key to everything) sidekick smart mouthing our stone cold, hard as steel, ruthless Punisher. She wasn't the least bit intimidated by the man. It went from somewhat promising to borderline unwatchable. Went from that amazing prison fight scene where he slaughters multiple inmates.. to then seeing the Punisher fight hand-to-hand with female assassins to the death. Which was hysterically immersion ruining but also wildly entertaining at the same time. Quite the contrast. Those two scenes sum up the two seasons perfectly.
@@Mate397 it's funny you mention that because he's black so would've been a good opportunity for some diversity points, but yea you're right still a man
I’m tired of this repeated pattern.. I want more diversity…of storytelling This one was probably the closest relative to the others; but still, narratively extremely frustrating. Feels in a lot of ways like a spiritual successor of antman and the wasp except it was the Moonman and the Scarab lol Similar dynamic between the pairs.
I wouldn’t really agree about the comparison. Ant man and the wasp was a lot more light hearted fun than what moon knight turned out to be. I certain wouldn’t call child abuse “light hearted fun” especially
I wasn’t referring to a similarity in plot; I was referring to a similarity in dynamic of the duos themselves. The titular character comes first and is powerful but then they have a love interest that comes in later that is a bit more capable - and flies! (she flies now! I just think that’s humorous because it was Oscar Isaac that said it in Star Wars lol) Also, the female counterpart has a parent that is gone that they have resentment towards a male character about said loss. Just noticed some similarities is all.
@@0Sutekinaryuu0 well a similar character dynamic doesn't make the storytelling less diverse if it has something more interesting to explore such as moon knight's psyche and his origins being more twisted then your average superhero.
@@mrj1897 Was the DID interesting? It was done already in Ang Lee's Hulk. It was done with Gollum. It was done really, really interestingly and well in both Legion and in Doom Patrol. Did they really add anything in MK we hadn't seen? What was the angle on it which justified the story-telling complexity it added? To me, it came across as just a gimmick.
@@ghrosenb I wouldn’t call it just a gimmick if under the right hands. DID itself doesn’t really get acknowledged well besides being a horror gimmick, I say gimmick specifically towards horror because it’s either a more scary interpretation or it’s a plot twist or some shit. So moon knight offers a chance to display a more “realistic” approach compared to what a lot of movies do
When Oscar Isaac transitioned between Marc and Steven you felt like they were two different people trapped in the same body but when Layla did it to portray her and Taweret, it just felt weird and out of place.
That's not how you rate shows lmao. Just because everything else is shit dosnt means this is good. It's a decent show that ruined the character of Moon Knight.
Ah, see my standards don't change. I'm still like "Hollywood made The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption. Now you have the special effects to do LITERALLY ANYTHING, and THIS laughable horse shit is what you're producing? You must be making these shows and movies terrible intentionally, or you forgot how to write stories, develop characters or be even close to consistent.
I knew that we weren't going to get hyper-violent MK like the comics, but what we got didn't even come close to what an MK show should be. Someone said that this should have rivaled Daredevil. I agree 100%, this should have taken the "best Marvel show" crown hands down. What we got was race bending, character revisionist crap.
@@mala6238 Surely you also understand both a joke as well as the fact we are playing in a fictional universe. Sometimes they change things and it’s good and well received and at other times people go comic book fundamentalist on anything that deviates from the scared texts.
Moon Knight is such a cool character, and this show had such potential after the first episode. Just wish Disney / Marvel can figure out how to write a cool female superhero story instead of turning all of their shows / movies into the "female Mary sue has to save inept male superhero even in their own vehicle" trope. it's getting so tired.
I enjoyed it - bit I did find it quite hilarious that Moon Knight gets overpowered by Harrow then blacks out only to wake up the victor....his whole victory fight was cut! I felt a bit ripped off. I don't mind the scarlet scarab thing but feel like they should have revealed the third personality in the actual final battle where he overpowers Harrow (who, how on earth can he fight with glass in his shoes?) It was pretty obvious that there was a third personality and I felt jipped they revealed it in the post credits scene. What was the point of saving that twist for the post credits? Eh. I'll go back to watching buffy now.
They technically showed that the third persona existed in the psyche ward, with the sarcophagos shaking and someone screaming inside it. It's good to see an intelligent comment under a video like...this. "Dramatic middle eastern music plays" of COURSE it does! The character is LITERALLY EGYPTIAN lol
Lisa Mayne I know that there's a hate movement now for Joss Whedon and Buffy TVS, I don't care. But still.... Buffy is like ten times better than any MCU Disney+ show
Nearly every "issue" you bring up is self explanatory or they explain it in the show... Did you not pay attention? Sure there's a few "seriously" "that was bs" moments, but it seems like you just like to complain for the sake of complaining. It's sad. You people are sad. Go watch other Marvel TV shows before this D+ dumpster fire because you clearly haven't seen a good Marvel show yet, or what Marvel is capable of when they let actually competent people to do their jobs.
Also gotta love research and respect to egyptian culture being shown by making the GODDESS OF MOTHERHOOD AND CHILDERN THE ONE HANDLING THE AFTERLIFE INSTEAD OF OH I DO NOT KNOW ANUBIS WHO RUNS IT IN EGYPTAIN MYTH.
Taweret actually was believed to help the deceased pass to the afterlife as well as help with childbirth (she was the goddess of both childbirth and funerals )and Taweret was also associated with Ammit Given how similar their characteristics were in the myths (also who wouldn't know Anubis is the god of the dead)
I liked moon knight fine, I do agree that Layla character did reduce the quality of the show quite a bit. first few episodes she was fine. Final two kinda overboard. Why did the avatar of mothers want Layla as an avatar? that needed more explanation and an episode or two of her getting used to her suit. Of course, I might have bad taste, liked Loki as well, just felt the show would have been way better if they didn't nerf Loki so much. He could take punches from captain America like nothing, but in the show, regular guards could go toe to toe with him.
Why did the avatar of mothers want Layla as an avatar? Because she wanted to help save the world and Layla was the best available candidate, very easy to understand.
If you are enjoying something, even if it's just decent and average then don't watch reviewers. Their are many honest reviewer who liked the show even after having a good knowledge about moon knight. Honestly, the "you are a Egyptian hero" was the only bad thing I hated. Like it was forced.
Moon Night wasn't that bad. (Not great). But Compared to the rest of the crap. Moon Night held true to the Comic pretty basically well. I found it entertaining... Let the pitch forks fly. I honestly enjoyed it. I'm correct fully going to get killed for this, but I found it entertaining. Nough said.
Seriously? 6 episodes and we got a total of 10 minutes of screen time for the title character.... It was horrible, I want the time back that I devoted to watching that mess... If you genuinely thought it was entertaining head outside, find a nice patch of grass and watch it grow, there is more entertainment there without all the hidden messages. ;)

@tido almond he meant that you needed to watch WandaVison to see MOM which is partly true because some people (I can't remember who exactly, probably one of the directors) kept saying WV, NWH and MOM were a loosely connected story
@The Witch King of Angmar Well honestly, I don't think the villain part was what went wrong. I think it's actually a suitable path since well, she started as a villain, and even as a hero, still had a darkness to her, haunted by all that she had lost. I supported her going more antagonistic or anti-hero-ish. What went terrible was the fact that the finale still tried to play her as a hero saving the day when she was most certainly not in that position. Even so, I think it's rather inconsequential. The show didn't have the balls to truly complete the idea it began with, but Raimi did. I can see why some saw it as jarring in Multiverse of Madness, and it is possible that Raimi went a little too far with it depending on perspective, but i think it suits the path she had been set on. What would've made it better is if the show stuck to it's guns and completed the idea.

Well, I was going to speak on this hypocrisy, but, you both laid out everything I would've said! Much respect!
I agree.

So you didn't watch the show, But you just came to agree it's trash.
If you can't handle a fantasy, then stay away from it.

Same. It was an interesting show if you didn't know how Moon Knight was in the comic book. Probably the best one from D+ so far. Disney just can't handle superheroes with their current LG TV+ and feminist agenda.
Yeah this was nowhere near as boring or illogical or woke as Black Falcon and the Non-Descript Soyldier.

Episode 3: Marc protects Layla from the firing squad with his cloak, and later saves her from Anton Mogart who struck her down
Episode 4: Steven kills the mummy was chasing Layla, later Marc faces the Disciples of Ammit, allowing Layla to hide
Episode 6: Steven tackles Harrow right as he has Layla pinned, later on Jake saves everyone, including Layla
Layla got saved 7 times.
I don't get his hate at all. The characterization of Steven and Marc was wonderful and the show didn't feel feminist or race bending at all. Nerdrotic is too much foxed on anti-sjw, to the point where he sees everything as sjw propaganda.

The "original Moon Knight" had more than just one comic run. They adapted the run where he has DID
@@rroselandd i am aware, but i am confused what you are referring to by the "original", and why its more interesting than the current run.

But big hippo lol
She wanted her to be her avatar because Steven recommended her and she also knew her dad
Loki is also a frost giant isn't he?
It's ok to have bad tastes, I love bad B movies. Look up velcipastor, it's glorious.
If you are enjoying something, even if it's just decent and average then don't watch reviewers.
Their are many honest reviewer who liked the show even after having a good knowledge about moon knight.
Honestly, the "you are a Egyptian hero" was the only bad thing I hated. Like it was forced.
The show was great, 90% of the complaints im seeing are SO BAD and random. What is bro even talking about in this video 💀
@4Infinite so what ?
@4Infinite lol,you have nothing to say so your just shutting me up cuz I told you the truth?
@4Infinite bro didnt even answer the question 💀
@4Infinite sometimes a good thing, and it works well here
@4Infinite so basically u wanted Steven to be a Bruce Wayne Tony Stark ripoff like he is in the comics. Grow up.
If you genuinely thought it was entertaining head outside, find a nice patch of grass and watch it grow, there is more entertainment there without all the hidden messages. ;)
People can like what they want but if you're gonna call a show by a name, maybe that named character should appear a bit more.
Calling this a disaster is insane. This dude and most of the people who watches these videos have marvel derangement. At the end of the day these are movies for kids and teens that are based on comics for kids and teens that people are far too personally invested in to a point where it is pathetic
@@originalscottfree It was probably due to cgi issues/budget issues? which could have been avoided if it was a grounded character and not a supernatural one, they could have went with the tactical suit and not whole cgi one.

I am Proud to say I haven't watched a single Disney plus MCU show Yes not even Wandavision despite being told I need to see it in order to see Multiverse of Madness. People shouldn't have to do home work in order to watch a movie screw that nonsense.
It's honestly a decent show.
It does a lot of good for Wanda's character despite the trainwreck of a final episode.
@tido almond he meant that you needed to watch WandaVison to see MOM which is partly true because some people (I can't remember who exactly, probably one of the directors) kept saying WV, NWH and MOM were a loosely connected story
@The Witch King of Angmar
Well honestly, I don't think the villain part was what went wrong.
Shouldnt have to do homework? No one complained about it for IW and Endgame, dont really see why thats a problem here.
@@higherchd1 Because those were theatrical releases that the average moviegoer can watch once or twice and still keep up. It's not too big a burden on their time or money since it's only a few times a year.
Now, there is content only accessible from a streaming plateform that people need to pay for just to see and in the form of multiple 6+ hr shows that the customer is required to set aside their own time just to watch that are released every few months, and must keep up on consistently just to avoid falling behind.
Of course, this isn't an issue for hard-core fans like you, but if this isn't considered homework than idk what is.
At this point, I just don't know what you guys want...

I “noped out” after the utter drivel that was Loki. Your reviews are more entertaining than the actual shows anyway.😸
I noped out after End Game and have enjoyed the commentary from all the Friday night tights people since
I actually lost interest before _Infinity War._ I decided I wanted to wait to watch it until Endgame came out, and by the time that happened I just...didn't care anymore. I haven't seen anything Marvel since _Dr. Strange,_ and I regret absolutely nothing.
Why is this latino actor getting characters that keep getting c cked the f k out.
Dude, he is making content. Which is fine, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with MK. It was a pretty good show. It was also nothing like Hawkeye. @@Qaosbringer
That was marvel phase 1 where the male characters were actually competent, and no the mshe-u is not a excuse it's a fact.
I'll list why the mshe-u is real in a list of 6
1. Modern mcu sidelines male protagonists in their own show, and has a stronger, smarter badass female characters who overshadow the men as they bumble around & do nothing of any value whatsoever.
2. The male characters are all portrayed as idiots, useless or evil
Captain marvel is a great example.
3. Male villains and characters get gender swapped to being female like Marvelle, taskmaster, ghost and
Scarlet scarab
4. The female characters get no development or go through any struggles or adversity and can do anything just to prove men are stupid.
5. female villains like Wanda maximoff and Milena from black widow, echo, ghost are made to be like they aren't villains & shouldn't be punished for their evil deeds because they Aren't men.
6. Bait and switch where they have the Male characters get replaced with Stronk female characters like female thor, sylvie and Kate bishop who struggled & went through
absolutely no adversity whatsoever
they earned nothing.
