Not only that, but actors who play these roles age, unlike in the comics. Renner is in his 50's. I'd say that it's probably about time for this show to be done, pass on the mantle, and show that Clint is finally going to be able to be with his family.
If that's what HE wants, then yes; but DON'T call it the Hawkeye show and mislead fans of *Hawkeye* the man (not the future female version). Has Renner said anything about wanting to quit this role? Did Christopher Reeve's star continue to burn after Superman? Did Tobey Maguire's after Spider-Man? X-Men had some solid female characters. Not just Storm, but also Jean Grey (and I wish hacks would stop trying to make the Phoenix arc into movies), Kitty Pride, and Moira McTaggart. Pre-Disney MCU had good female characters, too, in Pepper Pots, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch. Then Disney comes along and turns all of the deep, complex characters into cartoon stereotypes. Which is ironic, because all of their live action remake$ have been turning complex animated characters into cartoonish live action characters for a decade now. Seriously, fuck Disney.

After Black Widow being the only one for ages, they added a few others, all of which were mostly unimportant. -- Gamora is a tier 2 character. -- Wanda was given zero depth in the movies. -- Captain Marvel was just a badly written, badly made movie. -- Valkyrie was a tier 3 character. -- Can't even think of any others. And now in the Disney Plus series: -- WandaVision definitely starred a woman and it was fantastic -- Falcon & The Winter Soldier had no women lead characters, just a badly written female villain -- Loki had Sylvie but this was brilliant as a self-absorbed douche like Loki would of course fall for himself. -- Hawkeye is about attracting younger girls to the MCU and that's great, not every story must be a gritty, dark and bloody and targeted to 16-year-old boys. Until Episode 4 where she starts acting like an insufferable know-it-all, not listening to Clint when he tells her to do something and she just does the opposite, thinking she can do what she wants because she can handle herself. Can we please stop having 130 pound actresses in action roles in which they are depicted as being capable of fighting and beating 250 pound fully grown men!!! It is beyond stupid and unrealistic. In real life the men would overpower the woman in 5 seconds flat.
@Rune Kristensen Except THIS superhero show has normal, albeit highly trained, HUMANS. No super serum. No gamma rays. No radioactive spiders. Simple physics should come into play. i.e. there's a reason boxers, wrestlers, MMA fighters, etc. are divided by weight class.
@Rune Kristensen So there’s this thing called suspension of disbelief that happens when we enjoy a piece of entertainment. We can buy into a bullshit explanation like “this serum gives this person superpowers” or “this person is super strong cause they’re from another planet” but when you set something in a more “real” representation of our world with real people then the audience is gonna expect that the rules of physics will be followed. That’s the problem here. The actress is barely 130 pounds and is supposed to be a normal person. A very athletic normal person but a normal person regardless. In a realistic scenario a woman who weight 130 pounds would get absolutely pulverized by a guy who weighs literally double her weight. Most fit men can benchpress 130 pounds. Seeing stupid shit like this completely breaks immersion and ruins the stakes in the show. I mean give her a gun and have her shot the people. Someone’s weight and strength doesn’t really matter when shooting someone but don’t show her able to beat like 10 fully grown men. In reality if she tried that she’d be dead.
@Rune Kristensen I feel like someone has a fetish for seeing little girls beat up big strong guys and is just trying to find an excuse to justify it. News flash, superheroes aren’t actually real. We buy into stupid shit like this when it’s fantastical because the genre is “fantasy”. When they make it more grounded and realistic like the did with Hawkeye then the audience will subconsciously expect a greater degree of “realism” and in reality a little girl can’t beat up fully grown men. They could’ve just given her like some fucking superpowers or something and then explain it that way. That would’ve been more believable in a show like this!
It ended at Endgame hence the name, anything else is just extra, so I don't feel tied to the franchise too much, I'll just rewatch the first three phases.
Marvel have adapted content to either shows and movies in light of launching the D+ service and the following pandemic. Some decisions will miss the mark but overall, they are a billion dollar corporation that surely don’t mind some ideas “failing”.
Dear Disney: SAM WILSON IS NOT AND WILL NEVER BE CAPTAIN AMERICA!!! That title belongs to Steve alone. Speaking of which...at the end of Endgame...why the hell didnt he give the shield to Bucky, his best friend for 90 years, instead of a guy with a wingsuit he met jogging?
I think and I really am just speculating trying to understand this fact. I think it’s because there might actually have been a split in the timeline where when he did go back and lived a life with Peggy he could’ve gave it to Bucky instead there. This would make disneys choice better ig but then the hole in this theory is how Steve came back to the original timeline then. I’m just theorizing here and what likely happened was “OMG guys guess what how about we have captain America BLACK for diversity 😊”.
It has gotten to the point where we have people calling everything “woke” and “SJW” even when it was no SJW influence at all. Kate Bishop wasn’t a Mary Sue; she got her ass kicked in almost every fight. Hawkeye wasn’t treated like an idiot and in fact this is probably the best we have seen the character. The problem is that these “critics” watch the trailers or the firsts two episodes and declare it to be “woke propaganda” because calling stuff “woke” sells just as good as calling stuff “racist”.

The first episode of the show called Hawkeye worked to introduce Kate Bishop, y'know Hawkeye. It also worked to establish what Clint's up to as well and charts how these characters cross paths. What is so hard to understand about that basic narrative stricture? Seriously, because a lot of these heavily right-leaning 'fans' seem genuinely baffled by it.
I think the problem is that the show is called Hawkeye. Like when I buy a cheeseburger but it’s just bun and a post it with the word burger written on it. Sure I’ll eat it. But it doesn’t go down that well.
@@goth_ross That analogy only works if you ignore all the posters on the way to.the ship advertising that as being what you'd get. You don't need to like it, but don't be surprised that's what a burger there looks like.
Every single one of their shows is a 'bait and switch' or subverting expectations. General audiences are tired of this crap and it's really only the Marvel 'Stans' watching at this point.
If this show would have follow Clint, I would have gladly pay for my subscription. But Disney offer us new character who did not even deserve to be pirated.

Being a huge fan of the two main stars, this is actually very sad. Fantastic actors. For those who do not know already, Hailee is the voice of Vi' in Arcane, so not a totally bad month for her ;)
YO FOR REAL?! She's Vi?! ... Holy shit, I already liked her since she was good in Bumblebee but that just elevates her to a whole new level because the voice acting was beyond top notch in Arcane.
The actor can`t really do much about the material he/she gets to work with. And you can't blame an actor for taking a job since it is a job. And yeah, with Arcane she really hit the mark, as in: great show, and she did really good as a voice actor

Ya know people always say season 1 and 3 is a masterpiece in story telling and season 2 isnt as good but really great nonetheless. And those people are right haha. That was it....go watch it if you havent
It's not just these films. It's been going on in TV shows for quite awhile now as well. Just look at some of the female team members on the original "NCIS". One was explained away because she was a Mossad agent, another was explained because she grew up with brothers. Like that bends the laws of physics.
I wouldn’t call it a flop. It’s actually one of the better shows out of the 5 we’ve gotten. I really hate that people treat this show as if it’s woke. It’s not.
Seriously, it's really not. People are saying it's woke cause... kate is a girl? Literally the series never points it out or even mentions it. She's just doing her shit and happens to be a gal, but i guess people are too pressed about it
This is bullshit. Hawkeye is good. Episode 4 just dropped and it was damn good. I'm sold on the MCU Kate Bishop. She reminds me of The Gilmore Girls, with her stupid optimistic smile, and she hilarious when she can bounce off a straight man like Cliff Hawkeye.
Sometimes it seems like Nerdrotic dislikes anything with women in it just because there are women in it. This isn’t she-mcu. Bishop isn’t a perfect character and is learning from Barton through the show.
It's more like the actor is giving her all and making it work , could you imagine Brie Larson type actress in the roll. Nerdrotic is more dissapointed at the sidelining of Hawkeye in a show quite literally called Hawkeye. His character yes is used as a mentor to Kate but Clint doesn't have the same character development as Tony stark did when he mentored Peter Parker thus less satisfying when he gives up the role of Hawkeye when we the audience never never got to see the full potential of Clint as Hawkeye.
Please keep in mind that the Vulture and his Damage Control were cleaning up after the Chitauri attack, and he sold the goods on the black market. The Avengers didn't "leave everything behind," the crew responsible was crooked.
Daredevil begins with Matt asking for forgiveness and beating the thugs Jessica Jones begins with Jessica Jones doing her P.I stuff whereas Hawkeye begins with the character who is going to replace him (3rd Episode was better than the first 2)
We needed a gritty show that would've cemented Clint as the MCU's John Wick. Sucks that that ain't happening. Jeremy Renner is great in this, but the writing is awful and they're trying their hardest to ruin Hawkeye.
@@christmasgoomba1460 There are some bad comics so I don't know about that. I never read it but Hawkeye is pretty good so far. I knew it was about Kate so I don't know who thought it would be a solo Hawkeye adventure when he was retired in movies.
Disney should follow the path of Lord of the Rings and get an army of Marvel nerds as consultants. AT least that will get something close to what the fans want as an end product. And 100% agree, this bait and switch and identity politics on steroid agenda is going to ruin Disney+ and Marvel, unless they can just get back to telling good stories on the screen.
Maybe I'm in the minority here but I've really enjoyed this series thus far (on episode 5). Disney was pretty upfront with what the show was going to be about so I really don't see an issue with it. Even if they are moving more towards an M-She-U scenario at least they are still more or less sticking to an already established cannon of females taking the mantle of this or that. There also has not been any part in the story yet that pushes how awesome or more amazing Kate is than Clint. He's still the major bad@ss of the series and more often than not ends up having to save/help her out of whatever mess she has gotten herself into. I know the bar is set pretty low using the Star Wars Sequels & MOTU Revelations as the standard but compared to how those portrayed women with power to the men Hawkeye as a series could almost be called Hyper Masculine. Out of all the Disney Plus MCU series this is the one that I have enjoyed the most.
Yeah, the show is pretty good. And Hawkeye is definitely featured more than enough. I don't consider it the Kate Bishop show at all. And yeah, of course you're the minority on a channel like this.
to me the only problem is that there feels like there are no stakes. you would expect a character to be at least a little bit scared that theyre being hunted down but shes completely fearless when her life is on the line and she has literally no experience so it makes no sense, unless the characters completely insane which i doubt
“Hawkeye” is abysmal. Episode 3, the woke writers were sure to include a female, Native American, deaf, physically handicapped antagonist, portrayed in school with numerous races and a Muslim teacher. And that eclipses any effort put into writing a compelling or interesting story as long as all those boxes are checked. WHY is Clint even in NYC to see a play that’s inconsistent with his character “remaining under the radar”? Wouldn’t an Avenger at an Avenger play draw attention? It’s set at Christmas but the music feels out of place. Clint is a freaking assassin Avenger and barely makes it through a fight with the female antagonist. The dialogue is terrible. It’s so bad and depressing.
@@agenttronster6373 If the actors need to continually explain things, the writing is poor and that takes place "literally in this scene!" (Please note the exclamation point, as that makes me right)
Keep in mind Hawkeye lost to Black Widow in the first Avengers movie, and the two fought to a stand still in the Civil War movie. I think the primary intention of Hawkeye struggling with Echo's fight was to show she's in the realm of Black Widow in fighting ability.
I thought the first three episodes of Hawkeye were pretty good. I do like Kate so far. She's *not* a Mary-Sue. Yet. But I did ideally want that "hard, gritty, violent, Clint Barton" show in the vein of the Bourne movies. Now I'm sad. lol
It's not Netflix marvel, it's MCU No way it wouldn't be PG-13, it has to be. And if Kate Bishop isn't a Mary Sue now, she can't become one later. That's not how being a Mary Sue works. If she's got ability & it's clearly defined how she has it and how much she worked for it, she can't be a Mary Sue however much idiots like Gary want her to be
@@ChildOfTheWilderness I see you have no idea how Mary Sues work. If she suddenly starts having everything work out for her and she's capable of doing things far beyond her capabilities while being praised as the bestest EVAR than she certainly can become a Mary Sue. Disclosure: I sold all my $DIS after Endgame and will not consider holding again without some major changes. As a fan I hope it tanks to the point they make them.
The important thing you're failing to mention is that Kate Bishop BECOMES hawkeye, it's a title, that goes from Clint to Kate, this is effectively the hawkeye show, talking about both their stories while establishing Kate (among other characters) in the MCU
@@Kay0Bot Hawkeye is also her name in the comics, if you want to blame anyone for that, don't blame the show. Also, it's not lazy, it's a title that both use, probably to illustrate some stuff in the comics,,, no-one is calling the writers of Miles Morales lazy because he's also called spider-man
- Daredevil was so awesome. Just imagining if they had gone that kind of badass route with Moon Knight instead of making him a pathetic bitch with a way more competent wahmen rescuing him is heartbreaking. Its actually kind of impressive that they could take that character and make him so pathetic, like it took work to take his character from the comics and make him an inept bitch.
I love Hawkeye... and Kate Bishop , the way she is inspired by Hawkeye... I just loved it. I don't get this video, because the show was called Hawkeye and there have been two Hawkeye's for years now. Hailee Steinfeld is doing a fantastic job as Kate.
Disney and marvel need to realise they are there to entertain kids ( and some old timers that enjoyed comics) not to educate kids in their woke nonsense. And teachers need to realise that they are there to educate kids. Not indoctrinate them into teachers sexuality for the teachers perverse entertainment.
I like it. And even if it is the Kate Bishop show, she loves Hawkeye and is definitely not infallible or a Mary Sue, she's even less skilled than Hawkeye and that's clearly demonstrated. If you have to pass the bow so to speak, this is a good way to do it. I mean, Hawkeye is aging and is basically just trying to tie up loose ends so he can retire and spend time with his family and Bishop sort of bumbles her way into it, as she seems prone to do. Overall a good sendoff to Hawkeye, much better than Luke Skywalker got.
@michael stewart. This Kate Bishop show is just a more palative method to replace Hawkeye slowly but is still the affirmative action replacement of male characters that have existed for 40yr to 80yrs without needing replacement because they are traditional male characters of Comics. Revisionism requires a feminine presence. Marketing is merely attempting another tactic to minimize the disenfranchisement of its customer base. No reason for Kate other than political narrative agenda. Very little story developed is occurring but the transition to eliminate masculine characters is real. I very much agree. I was very glad to see that even though she knows how to fight she has no real practical experience and she comes off as clumsy. I think the series does suffer from the same thing as most of the Disney+ MCU series - that once they’re over you don’t really ever need to revisit them again. I think this series will be fine but when people are done with it they’re not gonna go back.
Yeah, she just didn't put on a costume of a man who trained for years to be the best there is and have that costume somehow miraculously give her all that hero's powers and abilities. Hawkeye is a low key hero with Clint being a quiet guy who doesn't want to be noticed. Kate wants to be a noticeable hero. I really get early Batman and Robin vibes from the two. If only it wasn't so woke and poorly written and plotted. Still, I think the best of all the shows.

Ppl always start crying when a female becomes a hero...Kate Bishop actually takes over in the comics, plus think of Jeremy Renner, no actor wants to do the same role for years. Let the man go spend time with his daughter, damn!!
It's the role of a lifetime. Do you think he's got enough star power e.g. like a Stallone or an Arnie, to walk away from a superhero role? Did Christopher Reeve's star continue to burn after Superman? Did Tobey Maguire's after Spider-Man? From what I've seen of the man in interviews, Renner has his head firmly screwed on and knows that Hawkeye is his career role; and he's going to want to keep on playing it like Shatner played Kirk.

The original MCU had one female member of the team. One.
And now in the Disney Plus series:
-- WandaVision definitely starred a woman and it was fantastic
-- Falcon & The Winter Soldier had no women lead characters, just a badly written female villain
-- Loki had Sylvie but this was brilliant as a self-absorbed douche like Loki would of course fall for himself.
-- Hawkeye is about attracting younger girls to the MCU and that's great, not every story must be a gritty, dark and bloody and targeted to 16-year-old boys. The more the merrier. And yet the contrast between Clint and Kate Bishop does tell us a lot more about Clint. Really loving it so far.

Can we please stop having 130 pound actresses in action roles in which they are depicted as being capable of fighting and beating 250 pound fully grown men!!! It is beyond stupid and unrealistic. In real life the men would overpower the woman in 5 seconds flat.
I doubt she's even 130Ibs.

And yeah, with Arcane she really hit the mark, as in: great show, and she did really good as a voice actor

You can bet that if Daredevil comes to Disney/Marvel, we won't have anywhere the same level of quality. 😒

Ya know people always say season 1 and 3 is a masterpiece in story telling and season 2 isnt as good but really great nonetheless. And those people are right haha. That was it....go watch it if you havent
Blame black widow for Marvel having these 90 lbs girls betting up 250 lbs special forces troops. I never liked that about any of these films.
It's not just these films. It's been going on in TV shows for quite awhile now as well. Just look at some of the female team members on the original "NCIS". One was explained away because she was a Mossad agent, another was explained because she grew up with brothers. Like that bends the laws of physics.
Did we watch the same show, people like this are living on a different planet, like inclusion doesn't mean wokeness
Guys like Nerdrotic think anything with a woman in it is SJW.
"muh inclusion" 😂 You guys are perfect slaves.

Tell me you haven't watched Hawkeye without telling me you haven't watched Hawkeye;
I didnt flop. Nielsen has it as the third most watched VOD last week in USA. How is that a flop``?
This is the most idiotic defense yet. Congrats
@@cheddar76k Hawkeye was great. Cope.
@@feeWAIVER... I guarantee ur part of the problem. Keep backing bs and mediocrity.

Daredevil begins with Matt asking for forgiveness and beating the thugs
Jessica Jones begins with Jessica Jones doing her P.I stuff
whereas Hawkeye begins with the character who is going to replace him
(3rd Episode was better than the first 2)
Meh. Daredevil is just a Nightwing knock off and Watchmen and Doom patrol destroy marvel shows.
Criticizing Mary Sue’s is totally valid. Kate isn’t a Mary Sue. Kate has flaws. Jesus Christ, you gotta do better Senator.
We needed a gritty show that would've cemented Clint as the MCU's John Wick. Sucks that that ain't happening. Jeremy Renner is great in this, but the writing is awful and they're trying their hardest to ruin Hawkeye.
I don't see them killing off the dog ahead of christmas. You'd need the show to be set in a different season for true grit
The saddest thing is that they're only following what is going on in the comics
What?? I didn't think it was that bad!
This show is based off the Matt Fraction Hawkeye run. It's just sticking to the comics which is never a bad thing
These are not the nerds your looking for...
@Lujack Shaw consult writers like that red hair lady yelling "Muh Politics!!"?
But nerds are incels. At least I'm pretty sure that's what CNN says
@Lujack Shaw we want nerds, not dorks
They are attempting to social engineer society. The good news is people are rejecting that programming.
Out of all the Disney Plus MCU series this is the one that I have enjoyed the most.
ur the minority here cos the majority here are just haters 😂😅
Agreed
She's also likeable
Yeah, the show is pretty good. And Hawkeye is definitely featured more than enough. I don't consider it the Kate Bishop show at all. And yeah, of course you're the minority on a channel like this.
to me the only problem is that there feels like there are no stakes. you would expect a character to be at least a little bit scared that theyre being hunted down but shes completely fearless when her life is on the line and she has literally no experience so it makes no sense, unless the characters completely insane which i doubt
Dude this is actually sad.
And it's definitely woke fatigue!!!
Can it really be called a bait and switch if everyone sees it coming and aren’t surprised by it at all
I said, "Hawk Eye is just a dead man walking", before the show even started. Prove me wrong , "Lost-your-marbels"
sure, they can still be attempting. no one said it had to be a successful bait-and-switch :P
Bruh, Laura literally says it's for Clint to spend time alone with the kids. Literally in the scene!
@@agenttronster6373 If the actors need to continually explain things, the writing is poor and that takes place "literally in this scene!" (Please note the exclamation point, as that makes me right)
@@slime-e3989 OK, you do have a point. But what should've been the case here?
@@slime-e3989 is the writing poor or did you just not pay attention
Keep in mind Hawkeye lost to Black Widow in the first Avengers movie, and the two fought to a stand still in the Civil War movie. I think the primary intention of Hawkeye struggling with Echo's fight was to show she's in the realm of Black Widow in fighting ability.
So hawkeye being a flop means ec-no will be better🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I thought the first three episodes of Hawkeye were pretty good. I do like Kate so far. She's *not* a Mary-Sue. Yet.
But I did ideally want that "hard, gritty, violent, Clint Barton" show in the vein of the Bourne movies. Now I'm sad. lol
It's not Netflix marvel, it's MCU
No way it wouldn't be PG-13, it has to be.
True.

I do like how grounded it is. I could use some of that bad ass Hawkeye. But the show is not bad.

The important thing you're failing to mention is that Kate Bishop BECOMES hawkeye, it's a title, that goes from Clint to Kate, this is effectively the hawkeye show, talking about both their stories while establishing Kate (among other characters) in the MCU

- Daredevil was so awesome. Just imagining if they had gone that kind of badass route with Moon Knight instead of making him a pathetic bitch with a way more competent wahmen rescuing him is heartbreaking.

Just move along little man and go play with your toys. No joy for you here today!

Watched the first 2 episodes... and it's fine. Nothing to get your panties in twist about, nothing really to praise, except I do appreciate they gave her a backstory where she worked hard to become skilled, it wasn't just inherent, that she struggles and fails at things, learns and grows. Honestly, what I expect from an actual character at her level. Still on board to see how it progresses.
