Oh my goodness, you just brought a childhood memory back for me mentioning the morgue and stories. My dad worked in a hospital morgue. He was a drinker. He and his mate used to hide their beer under sheets on the sliding drawers in the fridge. Someone used to steal those beers. My dad told his mate, we’re going to find out who it is and ‘fix his little red wagon’.
“I’ll hop onto this drawer and hold the beers. You put the sheet over me and shut the drawer, just about the time the beers were due to disappear”. It duly happened.
Sure enough, at the expected time, my shivering dad felt his cold bed sliding out.
Remember, he still had the sheet over him. Once it was fully out and he felt a touch on the sheet, he sat up, saying
“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?”
He was laughing so hard that night, when telling me, his 14yr old daughter, he could barely gasp out……. “That bloke took off like a bat out of ‘hxxx’, disappeared around the corner screaming like a banshee and never finished his shift that day.
Sometime later, I asked if the guy ever returned to his job? Dad smiled and said, “We haven’t seen hide nor hair of him since and no one touches our beers anymore.
Thought you may enjoy that memory too lol.

you need to "skirt" the trailer. Talk to Dutch about how he closed the underside of his trailer up. You will find a tremendous difference on how the trailer holds heat when you have a "skirt" around it

I thought you were going to move the washing station. Also I’m glad you’re not putting the tags in the house. When Brooke said that on the last podcast my heart sunk. I, as I think most other people liked the quirkiness of your other place. I liked the resemblance of Gunsmokes “Dodge City” with the little houses that looked like they were out of the 1800s. Just sayn’.

I want to thank you for allowing us to follow your journey. I am in Melbourne Australia, we have just started to come out of hard lockdown number 6. I live alone and even though Cog Hill is so far away, I have felt part of a community. I log on for work and it's a joy to have updates from Cog Hill playing on my iPad whilst I work. In Australia I don't know anyone with a 'pet' emu, they are protected so that would not be possible, in the bush they are in packs and from my bushwalking experience they are scary! I wear my Cog Hill hoodie most days, they wash and wear, no bobbles from washing! They are a great in between season hoodie. Take care and thank you.

So sorry you have had to go through so many shutdowns. A real blessing that has happened with the shut down it how Luke, Sam and staff at Doggy Daycare Farm Trips opened up their farm, services, channel and most of all their hearts to the shelter dogs. Your fellow Aussies have a wonderful channel that brightens so many people's day. LOve watching all those doggies running and swimming with joyful glee. If you dont watch them , check it out.

We never use the gas heat in our camper. We use a ceramic heater. Best thing in the world.

    • @donnalovintexas8760
      @donnalovintexas8760 2 года назад

I have never used the propane heat in my camper either. I am staying in my little 28ft camper at this time while my home is being completed.. It was 31° last night. I put runner rugs down on the floor and use electric heaters.. a radiator type heater and (not sure type) large blower heater. I have always had an electric blanket/throw even in the house. I can not sleep when I am cold...I am cold natured as they say. Sometimes setting the heaters on 68° gets too warm and I turn them down to 67°. I love staying in my cozy camper. I also never use the stove/oven. Electric skillet, InstaPot, flat electric cook top, counter top convection oven are my kitchen appliances..or my daughter-in-law cooks and calls me to come eat! I do not drink or use the water. I have a crock with a 3 gal bottle of water for cooking/coffee. I can see why people build the large converted vans and travel. If I was interested in travel I would have one also...I'm a "home body".

Two of the most important things I learned remodeling my kitchen, Put all drawers on the bottom and make them and the countertops 30" deep. I did all drawers and as I get older I will never go back. I would use simple shelves on top for years to do all bottom drawers, and I do not like open shelving. I did one section in my current kitchen where the cabinets and countertop are 30 " deep for baking. I discovered I wanted them all that way because I like it so much! I also made the upper cabinets 17" deep. I can put large bowls in the upper cabinets now where I could not do that before. The best part is never having to get on my knees to get stuff out of lower cabinets!

I have lived in a 37 ft fifth wheel for almost 7 years. Word of advice let black water tank fill-up and then drain into your septic and then put 10 gallons of water back into your tank. More 411, a propane heater will drain the tanks very fast. A radiator heater is safe and works great. I bought a 100 lb tank from Tractor Supply and it helps keep from running out

Another suggestion, if you have two tanks for propane, only turn on one tank at a time so you don’t have to change out your propane in the middle of the night in the cold. I’ve started doing that and it works so you only have to go out and turn on the other bottle instead of changing them out! This requires you to have 4 bottles of propane at one time to start, most of the time you will only have to refill 2 bottles at a time. Just a suggestion. Much love to all ❤️

    Questions:
    1. Have you decided on a contrator? You mentioned the pad will be starting soon...
    2. Will the pond start this year? Did you find a water source for the pond? I thought the test from months ago was negative...
For the license plates, can you glue magnets on the back and stick them to the chicken coops? Or get long chains or staps and hang the chains/straps over the coops and hang the plates on the chains. No holes in the coops.😊

    • @VikkiBeckham

Use your license plates to spell out Cog Hill 40 on your fence. That would be cool.

For warmth use an electric blanket. As for the gas you may need to check that the gas will not hurt your birds. I would stick with small heat units. They are not expensive
Only turn on one tank at a time that way you can refill one tank

Jason and Brooke, are you familiar with Mark Stewart's YT channel titled "Hamish and Kyloe?" Hamish and Kyloe are both Highland cows, and Mark just got his farm licensed as a sanctuary. He is wonderful! He also has pigs, horses, and goats. I highly suggest you check out his channel and perhaps have him as a guest.

I love your channel so much so don't'change a thing. The animals all look so happy. Oh yes, I think you should put the tags wherever you think because you had such a lovely and whimsical farm at the other place how in the world could you not make this area unique.

Jason and Brooke, have you thought about adding a heat wrap, on the new water lines. You will need a heated water hose and electric heater for camper. If you add bubble wrap to your camper and tiny house window, this will help reduce cold air coming into the camper.

You should put a skirt around the bottom of the trailer to keep the cold wind from going under it really does help . We used tin with a insulation board behind it.

Brooke, Keep a quart plastic container in the ham's bathroom. After using toilet, flush completely and quickly. When it closes, pour the container water in as a clean seal. Also keep some Poo- Pourri (name brand) on hand. Just one little spray makes a huge difference. Walk out and close the door. DON'T squirt more than once. I like the citrus one.

You will go through those tanks pretty fast. You may want to think about getting a larger external tank from gas company. Also get a dehumidifier. Another tip may want to cover underneath the bottom of camper with some underpinning.

We lived in a 5th wheel through 2 winters, in Washington state, & would always run out of propane in the middle of the night! It was really cold with snow! Finally we got an 80 pound tank & that stopped the late night trips to get propane!

Hi Jason, don’t know if this will reach you in time. But if it’s going to be cold below freezing it’s best to disconnect the hose from the faucet and let the faucet drip to prevent the faucet and related piping from freezing damage. Really enjoy your Pod Casts. Also there is a grease like product that you put on the gasket to keep it flexible and maintain the proper seal between the Flush Flap and the odour down below.
