Sometimes the trend that comes along is so flattering to your body type and makes you feel so good and goes with everything you happen to have, so I say it’s perfectly reasonable to keep on wearing it.

true! this is how i feel about low rise and full length tops on me. and the opposite is true too!! for example, i’ve always thought the t shirt layered under spaghetti straps example she mentioned is soooo cute, but every time i’ve tried it for years it just looks really awkward and unflattering on me ): i don’t think it’s outdated, it just simply doesn’t suit me.

In England it is constantly the weather for layering long sleeve tops under strappy dresses, otherwise you never get to wear your strappy clothes unless you go on holiday somewhere warm. I think local climate plays a huge role in what people wear around you. And if you live in an area that isn't a big city, or isn't known as a trendy place online...people are still wearing all sorts of things.

OMG I'm obsessed with corsets! As someone really into historical fashion, I was SO happy to finally see a trend from centuries ago come back in style! I love adding little historical touches to my outfits, so corsets are a staple in my wardrobe. I don't care if they're trendy or not, at this point they're a core part of my personal style and I'm not stopping wearing them! I'm always on the look for more.

Trends, in my opinion is mostly just ways to discover new possibilities with clothing, I have discovered so many things I like because they became trendy, and I still wear things from years ago and plan on continuing to as long as I enjoy it, trends just allow for things to come into our consciousness that weren’t there before, and some we like and some we don’t, but we get the opportunity to consider whether we do or not because they are in the public consciousness

Its funny you went with this topic today! Last night i went through my closet and found a sheer striped waterfall cardigan, just the epitome of outdated 2010s fashion. Its in bad shape and very fast fashion and i expected to hate it but i was cold when i put it on to try and so i kept it on, and after spending the evening wearing it i have decided i actually love how it feels to wear it! even if i dont see it slotting that well into anything i'd wear out. Since it's in rough shape (tons of pulls) i am thinking about tracing it and using it as a sewing pattern. I'm still going to try to mend it too
    Great video!

I think majority of these trends that surfaced from quarantine are js out of fashion now bc at the time people were purchasing them from rly cheap sites (aka shein) and over the years the quality has diminished sm that no one wants to wear them out again. Such a shame too bc it feels like only fast fashion companies were producing those pieces of clothing in the first place. I cant even think of any trending pieces that were actually good quality at the time.

I definitely am open to wearing cropped sweaters now I finally found a long white button up in my size. It does help that I can knit them myself, since that makes I have way more say in the style, color and mostly material - as you said, the ones in the stores used to be a lot of acrylic and polyester (sweaters still tend to be mostly those materials now they're not cropped), and it's so nice that I don't have to put up with that!
It also helps that even when it gets cold I usually mostly need more warmth around my shoulders, while the rest of my torso doesn't need that extra layer. Cropped sweaters are perfect for that.

cropped sweaters are a STAPLE in my wardrobe. I probably have 15 total and wear them with high rise sweats almost every day that I'm home... 90% of my pants are high rise so they just work for me! won't stop wearing them any time soon :) I'm currently looking for the perfect bustier/corset top to layer with... also--just wore a long sleeve turtleneck under a flowy cottage core dress this week while I was painting and it made me feel so whimsical, yet kept me warm (I'm in Canada). love these videos Alexa! it's cooler to not be TOO trendy in my opinion, and instead, embrace the fashion we genuinely love long term.

I like cropped sweaters in theory (especially as a fellow high rise lover), but I've banned myself from getting any. They look cute, but I can't wear them in any weather, so they're really unpractical for me. Where I live it's either too cold for a cropped sweater or too warm for a sweater altogether, no matter cropped or not.
I'm talking about the really cropped ones, though, like the ones at 9:29. The vintage one you own is not as short, I'd totally wear something like that during autumn with absolutely no weather concerns.

If you can sew even a little, bralettes are one of the easiest things to make from scratch, you just need two pieces of fabric, a longer one for around your torso, some elastic and maybe some lace to sew on the edges (there are a few good tutorials here on youtube).
Definitely recommend for people looking for a new craft project while also getting something out of it that you love to wear (and is specifically made for your own body).
I made one years ago and it's still my favorite bra (also, bralettes basically made me realize bra's didn't have to hurt and I never went back to any other kind of bra, it's both pretty and comfortable).

I like to wear crop sweaters with a flowy white blouse under it as I am not thin or younger but like the sweater 🪡

Speaking of shirred tops, you should try making one yourself if you haven’t before! I just did that recently and it’s pretty easy. You just need elastic thread for your bobbin and then sew straight lines

I just did dip dye on my hair a week ago and have already gotten so many compliments. I have chocolate brown hair and did Manic Panic Electric Lizard on the ends. I really hope this trend comes back because it's so much fun!

So funny that you mentioned the layered shirts. Growing up as a modest girlie I was always putting a tight fitting tee under a strappy shirt. Recently I've found it cringe and got rid of most of my under tees and over tanks. It is nice to have less pieces in the laundry. I still think it looks good under a casual dress or jumpsuit tho.

omg a popcorn top (especially a pastel color) with denim overalls sounds like cuteness overload. And here I thought I hated those tops!

I am also a huge choker fan! I have two right now that feel a bit more modern I suppose, one is moonstone, the other is evil eyes of various colors.

I dip dyed my hair all of 2022 and loved it. I did stop though, because I had dip dyed it a deep deep red after doing green and loved the red so much I decided to dye all my hair red. Now I gotta wait for all the red to grow out lmao

Cropped sweaters and jackets and outer layers exist so we can wear more conveniant clothing to warm our shoulders on dresses than shawls. If you have the patience for the lack of arm utility of tieing a big pice of cloth over your shoulders to do things, fine, but otherwise this is how you can carry just the minimum for not getting chilled in your bag and not obscure your dress too much, should you need it. Bolleros also fit into this cropped sweater category.

I gasped at the dress / tanktop over baby tee thing I do it allll the time! and will never stop- it’s the only way I can fit into certain low cut items like that while having a big chest😭 otherwise everything will fall out …. lol
