I think I'll keep wearing what I wore last summer too, first because a lot of it is thrifted so it's already out of the fashion loop, second and most important because I like the things I thrift so much and it takes so much effort to source cute things in second hand shops, once I have them you bet I'm gonna get my money's worth 😆
Seriously so sorry I just kept saying everything was "interesting" 🤦🏼♀ I wanted to smack myself while editing this! I promise I'll use better adjectives next time! Also you may have noticed my hair has changed since last upload! I had waited a full year to put any color/bleach on my hair and ended up hating the new shade so I got it redone literally 3 weeks later so yeah kind of miss my hair before the initial coloring, but feeling better at least with this shade over how it was in Wednesdays video and I think my next hair appointment in a couple months will get my hair how I think I want it.

My favourite thing to get for tall boots is roller skating socks. They hit just under my knee so my whole leg is covered and I don’t get that awful sweaty feeling in my shoes. I found a 3 pack for $20 a few years ago and it has been such a hidden gem of a purchase.

for the bandanas to stick on you're hair it's BOBBY PINS OR HAIR PINS , just pin two on each side in the ear side they don't slide normally ;)
There are some things in this video that I didn't even know were trending! The bra over t-shirt gives me vibes of a "funny" t-shirt you would find in a souvenir shop, the ones who have a women's upper body in a bikini top. I don't like it.
Also, I had no idea about the bubble hem shorts. I do like bubble hem dresses and skirts on other people, I don't like how they look on me. The shorts version looks kind of funny tbh. Maybe I'll warm up to it.
I rarely comment because I'm an old lady pushing 53 this summer but I absolutely love your content. Always excited to get that notification. I love fashion & eclectic clothes. And a thrifter. Been into plaid for summer too. I found a secondhand red plaid bralette (no hardware, just pullover) that is more like at cropped length. Great with high waists. It's got a Christmas-y vibe 😄 but I can't stop wearing it. I live in Houston so it will work for the holidays too. Thanks again for all the great videos! Plus you're just the cutest! 😄

my weapon of choice for spring as well as summer heat is wide, flowy pants. while I usually try to go for natural fibers in my clothes, I am a very sweaty gal and found that I completely sweat through any kind of material, and at least polyester dries faster :D I recently picked up a pair of black wide-legged full-length pants that go with everything in my wardrobe, and I plan on wearing the heck out of them until they fall apart.
You could so easily make the faux flower scrunchies/bows. Save your money and make one if you are interested
For me, clear footwear is a NO.
Denim purses are fun. I had one “back in he day” and I covered it with patches and embroidery.

Oooo you just gave me n idea for a really cool trend!! Crocs that are shaped like converse shoes, but the mostly EVA shoe had a jelly cap toe in a jelly version of the eva foam color!!!! Like they would be called Gel-Cap conver-crocs.
I also hate the mesh/jelly trend 😭
You reminded me I had a great floral set in the late 80s. Tiny white flowers on navy blue. Fitted blouse. Pleated skirt. Felt like a million dollars and wore it for my 21st, uni graduation, friends wedding. Very early Elaine.

As a bandana girl since childhood I started wearing them around my neck while biking, and I've been recently loving how it looks with the tied end to the front! like a gay little farmer haha.
Another thing im trying out this summer is rubber boots for when it rains (which is often). i chose pale yellow ones from hunter to also look fashionable besides staying dry
awestruck by those vans mary janes! as a millenial, I feel like vans used to be super popular in my youth but haven't been popular in a hot minute. could be a great way to bridge my style with current trends. 🤔 i only wish they had velcro or snaps under the buckle strap for sneaky convenience.

a few months ago i turned my old jeans from highschool into a purse, they obv didn't fit anymore, but i didn't want to get rid of them for sentimental reasons, plus they were the first good thrifted jeans i ever got, so i was proud of them. my friends and i call it the Jurse. so i like the denim bag trend. i basically sewed a straight horizontal line right at the crotch, before it splits into legs, all the way across. the opening of the bag is the waistband, all the pockets are useable. it was pretty easy! i hope that all made sense. the jurse wears a cute chain belt and has charms on it too
I hate reapplying sunscreen and I hate how sweaty hats make my head. So my weapon of choice is the Trucker Hat. It protects my face from the sun and has a mesh back to vent my dome. I think I’m going to survive summer with Trucker Hats & Maxi Skirts. ❤
I've just discovered silk wrap pants for Summer and they look SO GOOD I'm looking for more. Once you know how to tie them, it's easy. They're very flattering and comfy. I'm also wearing bandanas and silk scarves in my hair this Summer, especially when I'm having a bad hair day lol.
Regarding the pin collection for a bag thing I feel like the opportunity to craft things (shrink plastic is fun) as well as the opportunity to support small independent artists should definitely be considered! (ex: etsy, kofi, artist alleys at conventions and festivals)
Those goofy tee shirts with the bathing suit on them have ALWAYS been a thing since the 80s in seaside towns that are a little more seedy. Nothing new. Yes, I live near one of those tourist towns, Old Orchard Beach, Maine. It’s known as the Canadian Riviera. Every summer we are inundated with Speedos and these cheesy tee shirts.

I just bought Crazy horse leather Dr. Martens shoes on sale and they're so comfortable and beautiful. They get a lot of scratches, but that's part of the charm.

Hi Alexa! Just wanted to say thank you for constantly showing us how to use fashion and thrifting as a means to express ourselves and be confident doing so! Most of the time when I wear something quirky, I get compliments but that day I actually had a friend make fun of my outfit (a cute vintage tropical button up!!). Felt hurt for a moment and it made me regret even putting on that top. But then I was reminded that I can be unapologetically myself in how I dress regardless of what others say, as long as it makes me feel confident and happy! So, thank you for being you! ❤❤

The tennis aesthetic was already so big during brandy Melville and RUclipsrs like Emma ,Summer etc. I’ve seen the beach aesthetic but in a more fantasy style cropping up recently and love it like surfer meets cottage ❤

also, i have multiple pairs of brown docs and they’re my favorite things ever! i wear them almost every day :) i have oxfords and the brown jadon boots. i replaced the original laces with ribbon and lace ones and it’s soooo cute! i also thrifted a pair of born brown slip on clogs and i love them! clogs def aren’t everyone’s thing, but they go well with my style :3
I found the most perfect stripe overalls thrifting recently but they were too short and it was the hardest put back of my life. 😭
To anyone considering the adidas sambas, definitely try them on before you buy if youve never tried that specific shoe before. Even other adidas sneakers fit different, the sambas have a really specific feeling that you absolutely want to just make sure fits your foot shape.
My brother loves them, one of the only sneakers he will wear for 10+ years now, but they dont work on my feet at all.

10:49 Alexa, have you considered a “fashion sneaker”? Those are low profile and less sporty. I wear them all the time when I want to be comfy but not totally casual or dressy.
I thought I was not into sneaker mary janes, but the Vans ones you showed actually look cute!
the only reason I'd be into the clear shoes is because I'm a knitter, and they're FANTASTIC for showing off colourful hand-knit socks. Of course, I'm also in the southern hemisphere and coming into winter, which is the only time that particular combo makes sense.
I feel the same way about head bandanas- could be a good cover but practically I have difficulty wearing them
The rubber cowboy boot is a thing in the south for gardening and rain boots. The first time i saw them was like 2005 at Academy Sporting goods store.
I can't with the jelly sandals. I wore those when i was 6-8 during the summers, and dealt with so mamy sweaty cracked toes.
I don’t know if anyone has already said it, but the first trend you brought up about the tshirts with bras reminds me of the silly/ tacky shirts you would find on vacation back in the 2000s - early 2010s. It was usually an oversized white tshirt with a screen printed “sexy” body wearing a bikini 👙 or a buff guy body. And it was usually worn by someone who didn’t naturally have that body type, more worn as a funny gag type shirt.
I have just started customizing my bag and it's been so fun! Warmer weather has stolen my denim jacket full of pins and patches, and then I went "oh duh, I can just put the pins on my bag" and then it needed a little plushy keychain and then and then and then.... 10/10 trend since it can be so personalized!

I feel like so many of these trends fall into stuff that only influencers/celebrities are going to wear because in my opinion it seems impractical for the average consumer to decide they want a new wardrobe each season
It was bag day at my local thrift boutique so for 40 dollars you could fill a large black garbage bag with anything as long as it fit and I got SO MUCH new clothes. I got a 100 dollar pair of J Crew jeans and bunch of other designer brands!

I don't particularly like mesh shoes but I get the vision. To me it's all or nothing. It's the same reason why I hate peep toe shoes. It's either a full on sandal or nothing. Unless it's a fine mesh so your foot doesn't automatically stand out when you walk.
White pleated tennis skirts remind me of tampon commercials, so I just can’t. 😂
As usual, I love your videos, but most of these made me glad I don't follow trends (bloomer shorts???? - they look like underwear, rubber/plastic shoes? -- no thanks). I do have both plaid and gingham (in cotton) in my summer wardrobe, and I love them.
I like the brown shoes, scrunchies, DIY bags, tennis core (I like polos and pleated skirts), plaid/gingham, because these things are timeless in my humble opinion lol, but everything else is not for me. (I like Mary Jane's but not the Van's ones). I actually bought a brown eyelet lace skirt with a drop waist so...that was accidental.
Warning for the clear jelly shoes... you warm foot will create visible STEAM in the shoe.
