Today we are thrifting for 90's fashion trends! I literally never shut up about how much I love 90's fashion so I figured it could be fun to see what we can find at the thrift store when specifically only looking for 90's trends! We are looking for denim, vests, floral dresses, basically everything and anything Rachel Green wore, the girls fashion of 90210, etc!!

I actually love the too-short dress over the skort! Another potential fix would be to add some trim to it that makes it a come inches longer if you're up for a ~mini-thrift flip~

I'm glad you're feeling better! I love the idea of shopping for past trends as if you're actually in that time period. It's like getting to see the trends through the eyes of the people in that era.
As someone who was a teen/young 20s in the 90s ... we were into 70s fashion, lol, so those plaid pants would have been on theme. I remember I had a pair of pastel purple pants in a 70s cut and I thought I was the shit. I bought them in 1997 from either Contempo or Wet Seal. I was a big fan of a baby tee and denim bell bottoms or a skater skirt, too.

My fave decade of fashion is def 90’s just bc most of it is sooooo easy, accessible and honestly comfortable compared to other decades but I also really love y2k, 60’s & 70’s style 🥰 it’s hard to choose a fave bc every era has SOMETHING for everyone imo. Glad you’re feeling better btw ❤
I was in my teens/early 20s in the 90s and you absolutely nailed it with the first two looks for sure. The black floral dress, or "granny dress" as we called them and Dr. Martens would have been a go to look for me. That red floral babydoll dress made me so nostalgic. I would have paired it with tights and Mary Jane shoes back in the day. ❤

A really great 90s movie with good contemporaneous fashion inspo is Reality Bites. Also the first few seasons of The Real World for a more documentary style selection. Lot of realness in the 90s.
As a life long thrifter and gen x ( I’m 51) I lived in white v neck tees, crochet vests, baggy jeans, solid crop tops, vests and I was obsessed with old navy floral dresses. I graduated in 1990 and it was all about vision street wear, cross colors, bike shorts , china flats and mc hammer pants lol

Okay first your hair looks the best I've ever seen it!!! second that black dress was a 90's gift from the thrift gods, it couldn't be more perfect. lastly, I think the super short blue dress would look amazing over jeans, I know that's a very hit or miss "trend" right now but worth a try since you have both things, would love to see it styled like that!!

My favorite time in fashion is honestly the 1930's, 40's and 50s. I just love the style of those eras and I'm trying to incorporate elements from them into my outfits.
And then I absolutely love anything 16th, 17th and 18th century. That's my other great fashion inspiration. Obviously not as wearable today, but I still love incorporating historical details into modern day fahsion.
Honestly, I think people in the past dresses much cooler than we do now, although there are still some really cute current trends.
I love this. I graduated highschool in 97' and Kat Stratford was my style icon. Now as a grown woman it's Phoebe for sure
I Still don't like the fact that these are donated clothes and they make it so inconvenient for people to try them on, why get rid of changing rooms. I think one reason, is that you can only exchange not refund, they don't lose any money, that's why I don't like thrift stores. Hi Alexa ❤
Because people are disgusting and they simply don't have the time or manpower to clean up poop, pee, vomit, trashed dressing rooms FULL of clothes and trash, etc.
@@sheramelton3583 not sure if that’s the reason but I do agree people can be very dirty. Richer thrift stores has change rooms. I think they’re also worried people will steal their free donations
First, your hair color is lovely! Loved the babydoll top on you, would look cute over denim shorts. The black lace top outfit was perfect! You look really good in black. Now, about the yellow shorts. You could have dyed them. There are excellent fabric dyed available at Dharma Trading and they have charts to show what colors you could expect from the yellow base. There are also color removers that possibly could have to Ed that yellow down. I think those would have been great in a rust color. You need different dyes for different fabrics but the site helps with that. Those were a great quality short with such a nice fit so perfect for some diy. So glad you're feeling better!

Alexa, I don’t know if you’ve ever talked about it but I noticed that everything you wear fits you so well and the materials seem to be very good quality which makes you look so put together! I admire this a lot because it’s very hard to have the clothes fit so perfectly and find quality materials but it makes such a big difference.

as a genz i have dabbled in 2000's inspired fashion but my fave fashion decade is also the 90's by far - my fave pieces being the slip dresses, mom jeans or denim dungarees, turtlenecks etc. tbh in every decade i find something i appreciate like i dont love 70s fashion but things like the prairie dresses are pretty cool
the 80s is a lot of bright colours, vibrant prints, big silhouettes and that just does not match my personality lmao

I was born in 89 so the 90s were basically my entire childhood. I love 90s-inspired style and especially grunge because that’s what all the cool teenagers that I looked up to were wearing when I was kid. When I wear grunge I still get that feeling that I’m dressed like one of the cool kids 🥰

I love the 50s, 60s and 70s style the best retro and vintage, kawaii, sporty style, cottage core, barbie core, hippie core, preppy core, rainbow, rock and gothic styles. Also some 80s, 90s and 00s styles

These are all so cute! Also the super short dress, something you could do is sew on a lace trim? It would look super cute!! And be an easy way to make it a little longer, I’ve done it on jeans that where just a smidge to short and it’s a great solution!

I think what you said is so right I was raised in the 90s and born in the 80s and my decade to me is the 80s and I love 90s so I have a little bit of both but on that part you are right and the Y2K thing I understood that too cuz I see a lot of young girls now trying to copy what I had in Middle School

I was born in the 80s but the 90s took me through most of my childhood and teenage years, lol. I absolutely LOVE that a lot of the trends are coming back. Gives me an excuse to sort of relive a bit of my younger years 😂 Plus a lot of the trends during that time were so cute

I love 90s and y2k for sure but I’m always so drawn to the glamorous fashion of like old school hollywood in the 20s and up ( like Kate winslet from titanic) I loved how women would wear the corsets and dresses the big beautiful hats ant the like I loved fashion in the 50s summer they would wear to e daisy dukes with a red tie front top with white sunnies and cute shoes and like a bandana in their hair!! It’s so cute, and the way men dressed was so cool too! Loved when the women always wore the fancy hats and stuff, so fun!

90s Obsessed too. There's some great 📺TV/🎞Film inspo from that era. Been getting lots of ideas from Monica (& Phoebe) of Friends lately. It still feels modern & relevant to my lifestyle.
Once lived Elaine too, but I have moved away from her favored long 🌸floral dresses. Mine has morphed into skirts〰️& more solids over patterns. Although I still wear a similar hairstyle to hers. Like longer hair like the character, & also prefer it up off my face.

As someone who was in high school in the late '90s, the black sheer jacket thing, the shiny red shirt you didn't get, and those yellow jean shorts are definitely things I would have seen in stores back then.
If you want the teen/college look of the '90s, you'll want shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek. a bit of Friends and especially Seinfield were more adults carrying over trends from the late '80s to very early '90s than what was in style for teens/young adults.

60s and 90s are my favorites! 70s comes in close as a third place, and I do REALLY love 90s does 70s pieces. I was heavily into tumblr grunge, and I'm also fond of true 90s grunge- and I don't think I'll ever grow out of it! Please do more 90s videos :o) I love your take on the style!!

Jnco pants and crop tops. Pac Sun, Roxy, Stussy. It was a weird mix of surfer meets grunge meets raver fashion. Also flannel, patches on jeans, flares, Docs, Converse…that was peak 90’s fashion.
Oh yes definitely baby doll tops, slip dresses, homemade hemp necklaces, and so much corduroy and crushed velvet too. Flannels to tie around your waist, never to wear.

Oh God I literally used to own that gingham dress you looked at! Think I got it at Francesca's back in 2012
I also get down on myself for not loving layering. @PigMami aka Heather Hurst recently talked about how she doesn't love layering either but her outfits are always so interesting via the pairings and accessories. I will never be her, lol, but I feel validated in my position and heartened by the other possibilities.
Maybe not 90s but dresses over pants (e.g. jeans) is huge right now so I think you can wear the dress with pants and not only get away with it but look very trendy (not that that should be the goal) at the same time. No need for remorse as it looks fantastic on you!
