I am finally moving which means a NEW place to decorate!!!! I went to 3 different thrift stores to take a look at their home decor, vintage artwork, furniture, lamps, and more!

I hang everything with command strips. They have command strips that are for heavy things and they have hooks that work with picture hanging wires. I also use adhesive hooks. Drilling makes me nervous, so I always use adhesive. I didn't drill a single hole in my office and my walls are covered in artwork. Just make sure you do a good job removing any dust from the wall to make sure the adhesive sticks well (I did learn this the hard way lol)
I use the Velcro ones and Claws for all my frames and they’ve made it through a 5.7 magnitude earthquake with no issues
Try an antique mall for home decor! Prices can definitely be hit or miss depending on the seller and are typically higher than the thrift store because people curate their shops but its mostly secondhand or handmade stuff.

I live in a home with plaster walls (difficult to hang anything on). I found if you take out the glass of the art work it makes the piece a lot lighter to hang on the wall. Also, try alternatives to art work like woven items, baskets, etc. Lightweight but also funky / different.

I live where buying is cheaper than renting. We bought a house in 2023 and I have enjoyed the process of thrifting the perfect items for it!
My dining room is 1950's and my living room is late 1960's to 1970's ❤️. All my furniture, except out bed, is second hand!! I also am slowly building a gallery wall of our travel pics and vintage items (needle work, wood & metal pieces)....
For hanging things, use Command Strips (they have some for up to 20 pounds) and small picture hanging nails/hooks (they have them for up to at least 30 pounds). You’ll either not have any holes (with the Command strips) or very small holes that can be very easily filled when you’re ready to move. I always used these as a renter and never lost my deposit. And as an owner I still use them because who wants to mess with all the holes when you’re ready to change stuff up?

Congratulations! So happy for you! Estate sales are the best for home decor, furniture, kitchen, art, etc. Hit a couple when you figure out exactly what you need. Btw, I'm chuckling at your jacket. It must still be cool in SoCal. I'm in SF Bay area and it's been 90-100 for a while.
Are there Habitat for Humanity Restores in your area? Those always have the best furniture, lamps, and other random home stuff where I am in the Midwest!

I have, but I'm so scared of layers after so many chemical cuts happening in the past from over bleaching 😩 but I know it would definitely add a really cool look so maybe once my hair gets a tad longer!

Don’t forget you can paint a frame super easy. I have 3 or 4 big ones, 3-5 feet in length, that I either thrifted or got for free! You can just tape the glass off and spray paint them! I just rip the inside out, put what I want either directly on the glass (cricut❤) or behind if I want to protect a piece of art or picture.

I think scunci makes fine hair bobby pin things and I used those all the time to hold bandanas and scarves in place. They are seriously amazing. I have fine hair like you've mentioned you do and even bobby pins still slide around too much if my hair isn't havnt much volume that day. They've changed my ability to do a lot with my hair honestly. Good luck!
