@7:18 Oh, but it's not JUST YOU in the studio.... I'm blown away! The CPD did it for me.... the difference was other worldly!! So glad you did this.... it's why these companies strive for perfection, the difference is worth the cost.
MD Fish Tanks how come you don’t have algae if I have the aquarium lights at 50% and 6 hrs on the water a bit of GH and I get algae every two to three days massive of algae on my landscape😢
I was visiting family in Exeter over the weekend so i nipped into taunton maidenhead on my way home, I didn't realise how big the display tank was that you guys recently done. I'd have spent ages staring at it. All those babies in there too, so cool to go and see. Probably the best maidenhead aquatics I've been too as well. A load of selection.
Hey MD, long time fan. If you really want to see the difference, you have to put some red plants under them, like some Ludwigia super red or Macrandra, it’ll blow you away. You can see the effect on fish colors already, but 90% of having really nice red plants comes from having a quality light like a chihiros :). Also if you want reds to really pop, I’d recommend having more red and blue in the spectrum than green. I usually have red and blue either equal or red a tad bit higher than blue and then green wherever to keep it from being too purple.
Wow. I have two tanks set up with Fluval plant lights. Easy to control with my phone. But you’re right about the height, which can help the light spread issue. But the Chiros looks great, and I will likely try one on a larger African river tank. Thanks!
You are my very first subscription! I absolutely adore you, you are so real and you make such absolutely beautiful tanks. You have been inspiring me and I have been searching around and finally found a place where I can get some nice supplies. So hopefully in the next couple weeks I can start a tank of my own. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your humor!
I just got a chihiros slim today based on this video and I must say the light is absolutely amazing, worth every penny! The colour of the fish is soo vibrant, even on really really low settings. This gave my living room such an upgrade. Preciously still had the light from my aquarium kit and should have replaced that thing way sooner, did not expect this absolute massive difference. Thanks you so much ❤
@@JosephKarthic yea I did! I had some issues with connecting with the app initially but after contacting Chihiros through Facebook messenger, they helped me resolve it. The colors of my fish really did pop a lot more and I rlly appreciate the sunset and sunrise functions, preventing fish from being startled.
Like how the fish pop under those lights. Who knows sometimes in the future I have to try something a bit higher budget as well :). I am actually using three black rgb LED floodlights at the moment, they fit great with the diy industrial wooden theme of the stand. Used black scaffolding tube to hang them and can even simply adjust the height with the standard fittings. Super easy even for a DIY noob. Got the inspiration from you so thnx for that!
For you yes its worth it.Being your a shop owner. But I do like your round adjustable arm spot lights. They just give a great shimmer to your tanks .For me I'm just happy to have a full spectrum with a timer under 100 bucks. Im new to the hobby everything is going really great. But I am wanting a co2 system now .And redo my substrate like your coloring with sand. Im only running about a 10gal tank. And I'm happy I didn't go larger.
Great video again, MD. That light made a huge difference and like you said, it is beautiful. That is a lot of $$$ tho. Thank you so much for all you do on this channel. You and Fish Shop Matt are my favorites. Don't know what i would do without you guys.
Thanks for the review, I've been eyeing these lights! I've gone from LED shop lights to the Fluval Plant lights on all my tanks because the tanks are all fairly shallow depth and the ability to control intensity is extremely important for me. The shop lights were great to a point but once ANY algae caught hold it would explode with growth, then it was boom and bust removing algae, chasing nutrients and trying various methods to dim the lighting to get a nice balance. Now that I've been able to adjust the Fluval lights I am getting great growth (eg: visible day to day runner growth on my sagittaria subulata) and no issues with algae.
I just got my second WRGB II. They are Fantastic. I don’t think the app is as good as it could be. Sometimes it just does not work and has to be reset. Shout out to Horizon Aquatics who are the Dealer in the Uk. They just got a big shipment in. Great vid as always.
Do a side by side comparison of this light with flood lights and let's see what is the difference between the two regarding plant growth. ( like set up two similar tanks and see what happens after a month)
It's like you're comparing ADA solar light with Fluval light... If you can see the actual spec of the product, you'll definitely and immediate know which one is better. Also, the way you do maintenance, dosing fert, and also substrate wise does influence as well.
I've seen it next to a tank with Aquatlantis Easy LED Universal 2.0, old-school "natural" spectrum LED light. Both aquariums lush and green, both high tech with CO_2 injections and ferts. This particular line of Chihiros is like a Mercedes, compared to BMW. Flood lights would be like VW Golf. Fluorescent tube would be that famous Lada Zhiguli. Plants can grow well with each of these lights, provided they have good substrate, ferts, etc. The thing is, more efficient LED lights are more expensive, but the colours look better and with current costs of the electricity... I've got 2 x 72W Aquatlantis lights on my 714l (190gallon) aquarium, with Chihiros it would be similar. I expect I'd need twice that much LED strips, flood lights or quality fluorescent tubes. With CO_2 injections (more lights) it would be even worse. Compare 140 W peaking vs. 300 - 700 W for 8 hours a day. It's one way to save money, other would be switching focus on fish (Black water, African great lakes...).
Imo its more about the look then growing plants. You can get insane growth with flood lights, its more about co2 and ferts. Unless your doing dutch you probably wont wanna turn the light on 100% thats how you get algae
I just lost all my chiclids to Ian in Florida. Thanks for your videos I still stay inspired. I will start again with an even better scape. You deserve this light cheers mate.
@@MattsAquatics I love it but god it's expensive, my evergrow was like 5 years old, second hand etc and was still 400. Freshwater lights like this make me remember how much cheaper trop really is aha
The fish look amazing under the light. For a display tank it really makes the fish pop. Kind of would like to see what it would look like on a discus tank.
Not watched this full video but I'd just like to say the all pond solution lights you recommend are the best I've had and I've used literally dozens in 20+ years of experience.
Absolutely. I have Chihiros C2 RGBs on two of my nano tanks, and budget lights on the rest. I keep the very prettiest red fish in the tanks with the Chihiros lights because once you've seen them under those lights, the budget lights just don't do them justice. I'd like to have Chihiros lights on all my tanks, but as you said, they are expensive.
I really enjoy watching your videos! I just finished my second tank and I used a lot of your advice on both of them. Thank you for taking the time to share what you do.
Important to note that Chihiro RGB lights can come with mirrored shade (purchased separately) if you're setting up a tank beside a desktop or TV. These shades prevent you from being blinded by the lights in a dining room or office space if you're sitting lower to the tank. It's the main reason I am going to purchase a Chihiro RGB over a ADA Aquasky RGB II and ONF Flat One+ which don't have the shade options.
As per your advice, in fact using one of your links, I started out with one of those APS lights - the build quality sucks, the radio buzzed when it’s off but plugged in and it electrocutes you when you touch it….. but it’s cheap and it works. Recently upgraded to a Chihiros wrgb2, I’m not sure RUclips does it justice - the difference is absolutely spectacular the fidelity, colour gamut, rendition it’s really unbelievable the difference in visual enjoyment it makes. As you rightly stated though it’s for the show piece tanks.
Contact Chihiros as they generously sponsor content creators in this nice hobby. Plus you have 600k subs now! Congratulations MD....always supporting your channel.
What you are describing is the CRI (colour rendering index). 6500K I dont think you need more because thats midday. You can build your own system, you just need a CRI higher than 90 and 6500K white balance. Philips do a downlight for like £6-8 then the parts you need to adapt that into an E27 fitting and you have yourself a lovely system.
Dam the looks in comparison in the video are nuts, Chihiros should be a sponsor for Mr MD I could imagine how the rest of the tanks would convert with the lights.
Congrats! I recently bought a Chihiros Slim light and a spiral bubble counter. Their products are beautiful, a good option for those who can’t afford the ADA level.
Thank you for the great and honest introduction. You may also show us the quality of opti-white vs other float glasses, if possible and if you like the idea.
Glad to see you did a video on this light. It truly is one of my favorites. I use it on my IAPLC tank and use Chihiros lights on several other nano tanks. Their color spectrum is amazing and love the set it and forget it. Even on a high tech 90cm I could never get to 100% on the power. It is powerful. Their Vivid 2 is next on the list of wants. It is very comparable to the Solar RGB from ADA at half the price. They are pricy but I don’t think it is crazy over priced for what it does and the adjustability.
I've currently got an old Aquatic Life T5 fixture that I used back when my 29 gal tank was setup for reef but I'm now switching back to fresh water. I know this fixture would technically work and looks more natural but I really am liking the pop from these LED fixtures. I'm currently torn between something like this or just saving up and buying a pair of the AI Prime freshwater lights. I've had my current light fixture for over 16 or 17 years and it was a buy once cry once purchase for me back then and I'm sort of leaning towards the same mentality for the AI Primes.
Would love to know what RGB settings and hours you eventually set it to. I have the same light, and used several settings, but got a lot of algae and cyanobacteria attacks. I eventually ended up setting RGB to 70% on blue, green and red, timing from 6:30 to 14:30 and dosing ferts with 2 squirts a day of tropica premium. Im getting good results with this, but Im not very happy with my reds - my A. reneckii looks pretty grey still.
I love the Chihiros lights, I'm running a rgb vivid mini on my 60cm set-up. And budget wise at £170 on Amazon I think it's quids in value for money for the product quality and the beautiful results it produces.
The colours of the fish under the new light make the cost worth it in my opinion. Would be interesting to see how less vibrant coloured fish look under the new light.
I’m still happy with the LED floodlights I got, Im surprised how effective they are with a mixture of c02 and root tabs my plants are growing so fast and healthy. Maybe I’ll give an expensive light a go in the future though, I’d like the fish to pop more.
@@heaven7360 to show off their full beauty? What’s the point of having a school of diamond tetras at $10 a fish if their scales aren’t shimmering? After stocking a tank of over 40 fish at that price you stand back sometimes and wonder if you’ve really gone "low tech". Although it’s not necessary, if people can afford it I think it’s worth it.
@@Nick-ul1iq The thing is: It seemed to me Chihiros WRGBII colours were bit off, like a painting. Nice, but not all that natural. Now I'm bit nitpicking here and it might be a matter of configuration. It's definitely better than with cheap lights, but I like the way fish look under other quality LED lights. Sadly with LED we will never get full-spectrum light, just approximation, but the quality fixtures have either better looking light (subjective) or better for plants (the whole room looks pink). With chips sometimes there's even the output(!) measured in Watts, not just input, but with light fixtures there's always Lumens and often nonsensical. Lumens are meant for the human eye, not chlorophyll and pigments in plants (hence pink lights for... herbs). Luckily people do tests, some even with probes, so it's possible to compare different LED lights.
MD. Congratulations on reaching 🎉600k subscribers🎉. Keep up the amazing work that you do man… If I could recommend another high-tech Rgb light it’s the LEDSTAR AQ. It’s not as pricey as the Chihiros but it’s just as powerful and the colors really pop under these lights also. I’m not sure if it’s available everywhere but I do know it’s available here is the States.
Thanks for your review about this lamp. I’am planning to start with aquarium again next year, I had one many years ago when I was a kid. Ok at first maybe I’ll go with a cheaper chihiros. My question is, which big black stones do you have in your tank behind the cabin when you’re unbox the chihiros?
before this i use cheap light after use chihiros no way to turn back....the colour of fish so amazing...the red plant very vibrant colour....love it....😘😘😘😘
Buen comienzo de semana MD FISH TANK! Agradecería mucho subtitularas en idioma español tus videos así tendrías más seguidos de Latinoamérica. Saludos desde Argentina!!
Wow, I have been a Chihiros lover since they started. I love tall really deep tanks. And they had 30 xm light with 49w of power! That was the first one. But this one looks better than Fluval 3.0.
When you think about the fact that the lights are on only half the day (on average shall we say), LED shoplights look more and more attractive. My fish pop just fine. Not saying that expensive isn't worth it, but nothing beats natural light, my shoplights are just an addition. I like the way the expensive lights are so sleek though, some of the designs are pretty cool.
I get that it's a display thing but I absolutely love more the way you do the eco tanks cheap and put loads of scapes to shame with the way you absolutely boss it low tech it's what your channel is about so yeah 300 quid light is expensive but every one of your tanks look mint without that cost and I would tank them flood lights over that any day lol keep up the good work md 👌👌
It’s the best light. I have two and the colors are amazing. I could never go back to any other light. Spendy yes but worth it. Also they have the slim version which I think works better on tanks 55 gallons and lower as depth is less and it’s half the price. I think they’re 190.00 right now.
Wow the reds really pop I am in the process of slowly building up everything I need to build it all at once I was going to go for cheap strips you use but I might go for one of these now
in the last few years I followed the light you have been using but is not as good for the plants colour. After I tried chihiros, it is totally worth because the colour of plants are totally different
Another I'd love to see you use that more "pricey" is the reptile light it's made by 'Arcadia' and it's called the 'jungle dawn' I have 3 as reptile and plant lights and they have a wide spread and are bright!
Hey MD, I wish you could have turn the celvin a bit lower than how it looked in the video, maybe put a bit warmor color compares to all your other aquariums, then we would have a bit better understanding, thanks a lot man great video as always man ❤
You may want to get a hold of Week Aqua Pandora series. Its cheaper ang give you great results to. Please take a look at their Pandora Series and their L600 or L900 ones. Pretty bang for buck. Its what our home town IAPLC 2022 Filipino champ Matthew Manes is using.
Would love to see you review the AI Prime 16 Freshwater LEDs. That's what I have on my display tank. Great app, and it has a moo light feature that syncs with the actual phase of the moon.

Congratulations on 600k MD! 🎉🎉👏👏
great lighting mate… tank looks even more amazing! like one of those aquascaping contest
Congrats!
I recently bought a Chihiros Slim light and a spiral bubble counter. Their products are beautiful, a good option for those who can’t afford the ADA level.
That light does make a huge difference. Great video and content. Well played
MD finally had a Proper aquarium Light !! Nice !!!
Thank you for the great and honest introduction. You may also show us the quality of opti-white vs other float glasses, if possible and if you like the idea.
I have that exact light in 3 ft, absolutely love it 👍
Glad to see you did a video on this light.
I just purchased a hygger plant light 48 inch rgb ramp up and down adjust light power 72 watts 68 dollars so far so good very good light
Been here since 20k subs. Amazing how fast your channel is growing
Wrgb 2 slim would fit your style perfectly i think. Lower wattage and same design. Can control with the app too 👍🏻
It looks so good
I’m starting again I’m taking note of your plant selections🧐
These fishies are so cool , wow😊
I've currently got an old Aquatic Life T5 fixture that I used back when my 29 gal tank was setup for reef but I'm now switching back to fresh water. I know this fixture would technically work and looks more natural but I really am liking the pop from these LED fixtures.
I'm currently torn between something like this or just saving up and buying a pair of the AI Prime freshwater lights. I've had my current light fixture for over 16 or 17 years and it was a buy once cry once purchase for me back then and I'm sort of leaning towards the same mentality for the AI Primes.
Yeses! I wanted to know about this one. 🤗 Thanks Mate
Just had the wrgb2 slim delivered today, pretty excited!
Great video MD. Would really love to see a six week update to see if you had any algae issues since using this powerful light
Looks great - like you turned the vibrance and saturation up! Might have to look into this for my big display tank I'm about to set up again👍
I was just about to buy this and md literally reviews it right before I go in, omg lol
Bro, BIG difference, even the fish were enhanced, good stuff....Hoorah!!
Even if someone doesn't like the initial default setting of the light, it looks like it gives you a ton of options to fine tune it.
Yep. I keep mine on 50% intensity with a color spectrum of 6500k. It’s perfect.
Thank you for sharing this product information with us! I know I say it about every tank, but THIS is actually my favorite tank of yours!!!
Congratulations 🎊 on 600k subscribers!
Another good video. The fish look amazing under that new light.
They 100% work. But i'd def be getting this one for my living room tank.
I use flood lights for my CO2 aquascapes, it grows pretty much all plants
why do people need to have fish colors "pop?"
Brilliant review question now you’ve put the upgraded light on the tank will that cause any algae issues??? as I was thinking of upgrading my light
The orange fish look wonderful!
I absolutely love this light my tank has been Poppin
before this i use cheap light after use chihiros no way to turn back....the colour of fish so amazing...the red plant very vibrant colour....love it....😘😘😘😘
Another great example. Kessil. Basically just a super expensive floodlight. 😄
ditching my Kessil a360x for a WRGB II Pro this week. Kessil just cannot do red at all.
Wow, I have been a Chihiros lover since they started. I love tall really deep tanks. And they had 30 xm light with 49w of power! That was the first one. But this one looks better than Fluval 3.0.
Woooooow it looks so good. So good for the videos it looks like a movie now.
You should get more of those Al be no cherry barbs. They're beautiful!
I would love to hear a follow up on this light in a few months to hear how plants grew and if you had any extra algae growth.
They grow like crazy. Best light I’ve ever had
That substrate looks awesome how do you make it not float all over the tank?
HIGH TECH TANK SOON! you should try your best to create one, even if your channel is more budget friendly.
I love Chihiros lights, the A series is is the cheapest if you want a cheaper line from them
I get that it's a display thing but I absolutely love more the way you do the eco tanks cheap and put loads of scapes to shame with the way you absolutely boss it low tech it's what your channel is about so yeah 300 quid light is expensive but every one of your tanks look mint without that cost and I would tank them flood lights over that any day lol keep up the good work md 👌👌
Thank you for doing this comparison, like you said it’s great for a display tank.
It’s the best light. I have two and the colors are amazing. I could never go back to any other light. Spendy yes but worth it.
Also they have the slim version which I think works better on tanks 55 gallons and lower as depth is less and it’s half the price. I think they’re 190.00 right now.
Is there a video series on this tank? Really like the plants and fish selection!
Wow the reds really pop I am in the process of slowly building up everything I need to build it all at once I was going to go for cheap strips you use but I might go for one of these now
We would apriciate if you show how to make ADA-Style Cabinet. Many of us have some importing issues. Thanxxxxxx
I have run that light a littel over a year now. Its stil amazing
in the last few years I followed the light you have been using but is not as good for the plants colour. After I tried chihiros, it is totally worth because the colour of plants are totally different
Another I'd love to see you use that more "pricey" is the reptile light it's made by 'Arcadia' and it's called the 'jungle dawn' I have 3 as reptile and plant lights and they have a wide spread and are bright!
that will be my next light when i decide to start back into planted tanks again
congratulations on 600k 1 million 🔜
I have the Fluval light and love the it but hate they don’t make risers for them
I ordered custom Wrgb light with dimmer 8 settings 24w for 12 gallon i hope it s gonna be good.
Hey MD, I wish you could have turn the celvin a bit lower than how it looked in the video, maybe put a bit warmor color compares to all your other aquariums, then we would have a bit better understanding, thanks a lot man great video as always man ❤
Can the Chihiros light ramp up and then down on the timer?
Yes.
I love being early to your videos MD.
Definitely worth it u can see massive changes 10 out of ten
Can you do a follow up in a few months on any increased plants growth please, see what the difference is? 😊 Would be good to see
He’s going to want co2 or turn that light way down. I’ve got my same light on 50% and co2 and I trim every week handfuls.
How much faster can plants grow?
Wow that light makes a huge difference!
What are those BRIGHT red fish? They really are glowing bright. Love em
I like how the fish follow your hand
I know nothing about aquariums but this is enjoyable. Can you buy lights that follow daylight and moon light patterns?
Can you adjust the height of the lights using the stands included?
Which model or size would fit a 75 gallon 48” tank? Are these just for rimless tanks? Which rimless aquariums do you use?
Do you have a custom light profile recommendation for a combined (high light demanding plants, shrimps, fish) aquarium for My Chihiros?
