It would be nice to have a green aqua guide on how to tune our rgb Bluetooth lights. It's really cool to be able to tune your light exactly to what pleases your eyes, but nowadays we're a bit lost with all the choice and it's easy to give too much or too little light to your tank. It would be cool to have a guide that says "for this height and this kind of plant set/ aquascape, you need 65%red, 45%green, 50% blue. If your have only epiphytes, go down to x%. If you have 45% of bottom area covered with sand, do this, etc. It could even cover the RGB ratios to aim for if you want to reproduce ADA's spectrum / render, etc. Anyway, nice and useful video, thanks! Edit: just saw the end of the video, so lol. Still I maintain that you could give baselines that would be very helpful. And if I allow myself a little criticism, the tip given at the end of the video is borderline dangerous for beginners. If you use a preset on a wrb2 pro, even if you tune I down by 5%, you'll "burn" your tank pretty quickly unless it's very deep. It's a very powerful light, so the presets are way too high for most tanks.
We used to get dense carpets on T8 tubes. All these lights are capable of getting great growth. Dont let light snobbery get in the way of basics. Lighting is way more powerful and penetrating than it used to be.
Totally true, I found a wrgb2 for an absolute steal. Very pleased. Keep your eyes peeled and think about friends you know in other places who could collect for you if nothing is coming up near you. My bro is in Australia and that's where I found mine 😃
I save 30 dollars a week that adds up to 120 a mounth I can spend on aqurium stuff after a year you have enough to start you can afford it you just rather have short term satisfaction
never say never, i bought my 1st chihiros 6 months after wanting it but money wasnt a friend. Still isnt a good friend since i bought the budget wrgb 2 slim
Really helpful video. Thank you Tommy for highlighting the specs and features of Chihiros lights. Having so many varieties in lighting always confuses hobbyists about which one to buy for their tank. Thanking you once again...😊
What a missed opportunity. I really wanted to see a split screen comparison of the light quality in a planted tank. The most valuable parameter when comparing lights is the colour rendition. A 100% power on all colours comparison showing the effect on both green and red plants would have really helped. Few reviewers do it because they don't have all the lights but Green Aqua could have done this and really made a worthwhile video, instead this doesn't tell me anything I didn't already know, shame.
Weird the didnt show the Wrgb series ii 120cm that has 7700 lumens. Cheaper then the vivid 2 on a 4ft tank. Where you need to buy 2 60cm light that both have 5500 lumen lights, that's overkill and expensive. You can get the 120 wrgb 2 for the same price as 1 60cm vivid 2 light. It's a no brainer.
Thanks for the useful videos you make😀 I have a question: I am planning to use Chihiros A501 Plus (wider version of A series) in 60P tank. The light has intensity of 7950 lumens, but it is just white (8000k) - intensity should be perfect, but does light colour or temperature affect plant growth? I am still not sure...
I have 154 cm x 47 cm x 74 cm aquarium with lid ( canopy ) at the top. What light do you recommend to grow plants? So far all listed lights you have recommended are not design for covered aquarium. I forgot to mention that aquarium has glass cover to control moisture.

Hello Tommy Great Video !!!!!! I have an 80cm x 30cm x 30cm high-tech aquarium with CO2, Monte Carlo carpet, and Rotala rotundifolia 'Blood Red'. I'm looking for advice on which Chihiros light to choose. The Chihiros studio team suggested the WRGB Slim model, but I noticed in your video that you mentioned this model might not be powerful enough. Could you please provide your expert recommendation.
Really helpful video, im a beginner, still cycling fishless my first tank. The tank is around 90L 80x30x36, initially i was looking for the AII 80cm at 110€, but then some suggested me the WRGB Slim60 180€ (Slim 90 will be to long for my 80cm tank) and the AII Max 80cm 180€. Do you think that the jump price from the AII is worth for both WRGBSlim and the AII Max? And then, considering that i would like to grow carpet like plants, still i can't decide which one get. I see that Aii Max is stronger but only white, but the lesser power from WRGBII Slim is enough (or even better, maybe for take algae under control with a lesser bright light)?
Among all of WRGB series, which one has the smoothest dimming? (I mean sunrise and sunset feature) I currently use WRGB II slim, and it's not quite impressive due to a bit too green when in full mode.
Isn’t it dangerous to use hanging kits for those 1-2 kilos of lights? I always wanted to switch to hanging, but having all this weight on the back glass rim feels risky for the silicone that holds it. Do you have any horror stories to share or everything’s fine with using them?
Can i ask for advise guys? I want to build new 450l (150x50x60cm)tank. Something similar like yours discus tank. I want to use mostly epiphyte plants. Is wrgb 2 120cm enough for this type of plants and aquarium size? Or should I look for something different? P.s love your videos 💪🏻
@GreenAquaShop I had to buy 55cm tank due to space issue. I am confused whether to go with 45 cm or hang 60cm light. Also, could advice which will show more vivid colour, WRGB slim or B series.
Hello! i want to upgrade the lighting in my juwel primo 110 tank which is 80cm wide and 43cm high. i am between wrgb2 60cm and wrgb2 pro 80cm. I close to the first one, which is more economical, but I am thinking if it will cover the plants that are at the edges of the tank. the second one on the other hand is exactly the dimension of the tank but it is quite more powerful and you suggest for tanks with greater depth and also it is quite more expensive than the simple wrgb2. which one would you recommend for my tank? Thanks!!

Hmm, I was hoping you would touch a bit on the light degrees aswell. I have mine set to 7k, I am not sure if that is okay. Also, how much does the color you choose actually affect plant growth?
Stop MISLEADING people😅😅 The normal wrgb2 and slim version are using only RGB. And the Pro is actually the real WRGB which means rgb 4 in 1. Not just different from their power.
I got a 60cm WRGB Version 1 - with an external Commander 4 - good light, but horrible stand and a mediocre app... - I keep it, because the finetuning possibilities makes a wonderful light and I changed the stand to some DIY stuff. But since 2 years I switched continuesly to different (german) brands like aqua-grow etc, much more effecient in most standard builds though the use of RGB, always an external controller, not build in - important because these are very fragile electrical parts in my experience, so I can replace them, wenn neccessary and of course no china apps with the need of registration and so on.... Chihiros is a great company, no doubt... but in terms of efficency, high electrical costs and the possibilities of different external controllers a look around can get you a very good working and more individual solution for less money!
Hi Tommy, firstly I want to thank you for putting in the time, effort and cost to research and educate our hobby group. You are most appreciated. Secondly, I am about to retire and getting a 300 cm fully planted discus tank installed, and need some advice on lighting a tall tank. The Chihiros WRGB2 Pro looks excellent but I will require 3 of these for my tank and the cost in Australia would exceed AU$3,000. Are there any cheaper alternatives for a 70 cm high tank? Would a flood light that can be bought at any hardware shop do the job?
Thank you for this! What carpeting plants do you recommend to be less demanding, not necessarily low lightI? I have a 50cm deep tank and I've had issues in the past with What carpeting plants, even when I inject CO2. I have upgraded my light to a brighter one and would like to try again.
Hi green aqua..thanks for the useful videos..I am new to aqua scaping, and I have a doubt regarding which light to buy for my aquarium size 60cm length, 45cm depth and 40cm height, from chihiros. I like to use the legs to that comes with the light rather than hanging as I don't have a provision for that with my current set up. Can u suggest me an ideal chihiros model light for my tank, that can also cover up the 45cm depth of my tank as I plan to have carpeting plants in the front and red plants at the back..ur suggestions will be very much helpful, thank you, regards from india
Please help. Poor color rendering I have two Chihiros WRGB2 Slim lights. One 90 and the other 60. The 60 is fine, but the 90 has poor color rendering in my opinion. When I set 2% of each color it should be white but actually has a pink tint to it. See photos. Don't know what to do with it?
I think it’s absolutely invaluable advice as I’m looking to buy decent lights for my small betta aquariums that are rectangular in shape, the only plants are tiger lotus and Anubias plants. I would certainly appreciate your recommendations, the lengths of these tanks are 45cm, thank you so much it would really help me decide.
Hi Chihiros AII Max 901 what is the colour temperature (Kelvin). Is it 6700K as it only stated brightness 6500lm (lumen) no Kelvin info? The chart you provided only stated white led. Does the apps comes with a timer function.
in the app for these lights, is there a way to set a lot intensity for the light to be on after a full day schedule? for instance my Ai Prime, i have a moonlight channel that i can turn on and run from sunset to say, 3am...
I think its interesting you did not review The Twinstar S series for a pro light. Any particular reason for that? I have a Twinstar S and am thinking about trading it in for a Chihiros WRGB Pro.
The video only covers the Chihiros range. With Twinstar, we had some supply issues in the past year or so, which seem to have normalized now with the Gen IV lights.
@@GreenAquaShop Thank you. Also, I am not happy with the Twinstar controller. So many things lacking with it including a basic measure of light setting or intensity to let know know what level you are at. I purchased the recommended 3rd party wifi controller from amazon that youtubers were using but the plug does not fit the Gen 4 lights and cant use and that is why i am giving up on Twinstar and shipping it back for a refund. Love the light. hate the controller with a passion. Excellent lighting thought.
Does the Chihiros light let you set it and forget it in the app or do you need to always have the app running in the background or have your phone connected or sumn?
Need a little help, any suggestions welcome. I have a corner aquarium, with a glass lid seated inside. Id like to grow plants with a soil substrate. Java, anubias, crypt, sword, stem, maybe even some carpetting plants, moss. Which led light? RGB would be nice with a sunrise sunset feature but if that feature is costly then perhaps not. Im not familiar with any brands. Or should i just get a halogen flood light 🙂 The water itself is hard. And has a canister filter.
Recently just found a 100 gallon acrylic tank that I am set on turning into a planted tank. I've been struggling with which lights would best suit my situatiion. It's acrylic, so mounting LED lights on the actual tank is looking near impossible. I will have to go with a DIY option and hang lights from above. My tank is 5 ft (152cm) long, 20 inches (50cm) wide and depth is around 18-20 inches too. What LED lights you you recommend for this size acrylic tank? A retailer is highly recommending UNS Titan 1 lights, but they are extremely expensive. If necessary, I will buy, but do not want to if its overkill for what I want. Want to do a Diaroma setup, carpeting, heavily planted etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for the video!
I have two 90cm long A2 model for my 100x50x40 tank. Looks good as I DIY hanging the lights. Red n green plants do well, if I go for stronger light = more electric bill 😅
Tommy VIVID II can works with 600mm deep tank and Rotala Hra? Can be deep Red after I make NO3 low and use Iron? Now I use Hyperspot but I think to change for something new.
I would like to see chihiros makes them link in series so if you have a 8ft tank with 4 lights that they can talk with each other and turn on/off all the same and change colors all the same. But that might be something for the later 2023/24 models
Great lights albeit expensive but it’s a shame that they don’t have something like memory backup. When there is a power outage and the lights are on auto mode they don’t turn back on. You need to get back into the app and toggle the auto mode.
Nice video! right now im trying to choose a light for my 60u aquarium, do you think a normal wrgb 2 can grow carpeting plants like cuba? or should I go for the pro version
Part I have a 150/50/50 plant aquarium with co2 injection I want to buy a chihiros lamp but I don't know which one to choose 🤔🤔🤔 chihiros wrgb2 slim 120cm two lamps ??? chihiros wrgb2 pro 120cm ? chihiros wrgb2 120 cm two lamps? I want to hang lighting for the aquarium. please help Greetings from Poland 👌
I just got a second hand rgb a601 plus . The difference between that and my old aquaone t8 tubes is noticeable right from turning it on about to watch a few app set up videos , im very impressed so far its a massive step up for me
We've used TS lights since they are on the market. The top model S series is close to our preference but has less output than the one we use in our showroom. Also, the color rendering is different, which does not match the showroom general appearance. This is why you see them less in our videos. Hopefully, their future models will have more customization/output for high-end users too maybe more color options like ONF had. As a side note, in the EU Twinstar distribution is not that good. Limited availability and supply issues all the time. Does not make sense to promote something which you can't buy anytime when you need it.
What about the RGB A Plus series, i.e. Chihiros RGB A601 Plus? How does it perform compared to the WRGB II series? RGB A601 PLUS and WRGB II SLIM 60 have the same power and as you said WRGB II SLIM is not actually a real WRGB, so what is the difference?
So I just ordered a 120*50*50 cm tank and I’m planning epiphytes, moss, carpeting plants and stem plants more like a lush jungle look. Which Chihiros would you recommend considering the height and depth ? TIA
It probably was not out back then, but B is usually the lower-intensity light with most manufacturers. It is mainly for fish tanks, not for aquascaping. It is for general use with a catchy price tag.
Never managed to get strong reds with my Vivid II. Testing out some WIO lights right now but will go back to Chihiros soon. Good light though, but noisy fan
@GreenAquaShop Which light is made for rimmed tanks? I will be installing a 72" long x 24" wide x30" tall rimmed aquarium. Will the wrgb II pro be a strong enough light to reach carpeting plants in that deep of a tank?

Im not familiar with any brands. Or should i just get a halogen flood light 🙂
The water itself is hard. And has a canister filter.
Is this light only designed for rimless tanks? I have a regular framed tank.
What is your recomendation for 60x40x40h high-tech?
Good video, can you tell me if the AII max works with the wifi hub?, I ask because I have AII and i doesnt work with the wifi hub.
What's the difference between Chihiros B series vs wrgb slim series?
B is an entry-level light. The slim with the WRGB has more color options and has higher output
Best light for 60P with Co2, Carpet and stem plants?
What recommendation would be for 180x60x60 and for 240x60x60 aquarium?
I have a chihiros CII RGB light, but I do not see scheduling function in the app.
you missed that the C-Series does not support Bluetooth out of the box in the chihiros app part of the vid :) It needs to be bought additionaly
Have the slim, love it for my shallow tank. Getting great carpetting and intense reds.
How deep is it?
Is the back ground LED screen Chihiros as well?
What about RGB LED lights for e.g. 5-gallon bowls? I can't find anything interesting in the market that can fit rounded curves for the glass.
Ledstar AQ N ver2 with Stand available in market
The C2 can. But need to buy seperate base
I have a 5 gallon bowl under a C2-rgb light with the stand.
Hello, you may also check the lights of the week aqua brand?
I have wrgb 2 pro 120 can you tell best setting for the color
Would you recommend the WRGB ii Slim 30 for a 40x30x30 thank? Or should I get the regular wrgb II for better coverage?
Make another video about Week Aqua Led lights.
Could you just mount a shelf above the tank and hang the lights from that? Many do that. You could have a 120 cm light above it.
FYI team. You need the Bluetooth and location on, on the phone. If the lights don't show up they have location services in them
Wouldn’t it be useful to talk about the effectiveness referring to the depth of the tank? You do that for the pro how about the rest?
can chihiros wrgb 2 slim make a rotala hra become red? or is it not strong enough?
I have two 90cm long A2 model for my 100x50x40 tank. Looks good as I DIY hanging the lights.
Red n green plants do well, if I go for stronger light = more electric bill 😅
Tommy VIVID II can works with 600mm deep tank and Rotala Hra? Can be deep Red after I make NO3 low and use Iron? Now I use Hyperspot but I think to change for something new.
Yes! It can.
With ChihirosCommander 1 Bluetooth you can use the app for the c series
Is Vivid 2 provide enough lights for 60 cm Depth tank? 9:51
100% yes!
👍
Nice video! right now im trying to choose a light for my 60u aquarium, do you think a normal wrgb 2 can grow carpeting plants like cuba? or should I go for the pro version
WRGB2 would do a perfect job 👍
what are the yellow and white slide bars in chihiros app? what is ideal settings of these for fully planted red and demanding plants?
Part I have a 150/50/50 plant aquarium with co2 injection I want to buy a chihiros lamp but I don't know which one to choose 🤔🤔🤔
chihiros wrgb2 slim 120cm two lamps ???
chihiros wrgb2 pro 120cm ?
chihiros wrgb2 120 cm two lamps?
I want to hang lighting for the aquarium.
please help
Greetings from Poland 👌
Well, now that you ask me, I would use 3 Vivids above such a tank.
@@GreenAquaShop Thanks for your help 👍
I just got a second hand rgb a601 plus . The difference between that and my old aquaone t8 tubes is noticeable right from turning it on about to watch a few app set up videos , im very impressed so far its a massive step up for me
why don't make shaders for 80cm PRo wrgb ?
Not sure, drop a mail to our support, they might be able to help you.
Would you recommend JBL solar led natur and effect ??
When are you going to do a video for Twinstar lights? :) (i guess not since you're not sponsored $$$ by them)
We've used TS lights since they are on the market.
Wow, you certainly know the Chihiros range inside out. Thank you for this excellent video.
Thanks for the video Tommy! Very helpfull! It's amazing how far lightning has come, the chart will come in handy!
So I just ordered a 120*50*50 cm tank and I’m planning epiphytes, moss, carpeting plants and stem plants more like a lush jungle look. Which Chihiros would you recommend considering the height and depth ? TIA
Where did you order your tank from?
At what height is the light usually placed above the aquarium, I mean "Hang on", tnx
we have them around 30cm
I wonder why the B series was not mentioned here
It probably was not out back then, but B is usually the lower-intensity light with most manufacturers. It is mainly for fish tanks, not for aquascaping. It is for general use with a catchy price tag.
Never managed to get strong reds with my Vivid II. Testing out some WIO lights right now but will go back to Chihiros soon. Good light though, but noisy fan
on your vivid put the light intensity to 115 red / 42 green/ 88 blue ... try that out, idk if you are running CO2 but that also helps.
Is vivid 2 really twice more luminous than solar rgb? The latter is claimed about 4000lm
Nope. Those are numbers only. In person there's not much difference in output. Actually Solar RGB covers a larger area as the unit is larger a bit.
W stands for white in theWRPG
Do the regular wrgb 2 legs only fit rimless aquariums? Or do these it on rimmed?
They are for rimless tanks. It cannot be used with rimmed ones. There is a new light in the range which is made for that purpose
@@GreenAquaShop what brand rimless do you like best?
@GreenAquaShop Which light is made for rimmed tanks? I will be installing a 72" long x 24" wide x30" tall rimmed aquarium. Will the wrgb II pro be a strong enough light to reach carpeting plants in that deep of a tank?
