My first custom build was using the NK creams. I wore em down for like a couple months before lubing them (205g0, with thin films due to slight wobble I noticed which is uncharacteristic of creams, but I guess I got a bad batch). I then bought some alpacas v2 when they were available in my country (DailyClack Au). Lubed them with 205g0 + deskey filmed. On the same exact board, honestly you cant beat the smoothness (& clackiness if you're into that) of a JWK linear in my opinion. The alpacas were MUCH smoother than the creams (had 50 leftover that were not broken in, but lubed & filmed). And they are still slightly superior to NK creams that were broken in for 2 months + lubed & filmed. tl:dr - JWK linear (alpacas) > broken in creams (only slightly) > not broken in creams. side note: When I lubed the broken in creams, I made sure to use the matching housings + stem. I did not open them up and separated them into different bowls and jumbled them up together. The SAME switch was broken in & the SAME EXACT parts were lubed and reassembled. Needless to say, the lube job took 5x longer this way.
BTW, lavenders have a nylon top housing, making it sound deeper. H1's have a Polyamide bottom housing, and alpacas have a nylon + pc top mix. The problem is that they all use the same pom stem, and have overlapping components.
This review doesn't stop me from buying lavenders. They look good, they sound good, they are decently smooth and the bs that "All JWK switches are the same" is not true mate. edit: I actually like lilacs sound a bit more so just imagine I was talking about the lilacs all along.

I hate how the community brands JWK switches as "the same shit", they are not... Just like you noticed in the video Lavender sounds different than Lilac, which sounds different than H1 or Alpaca or Tangerine... cause the top housing is made of different materials. Alpaca is made fom PC, Lilac and Mauve is a blend of pc and nylon, Tangies are uhmwpe and pc blend, H1s are thicker or denser PC than Alpaca etc etc... For a linear switch, that's the only shit you can do once you have a relatively smooth switch, they will all feel the same, what you gotta do to differentiate it is sound, and spring weight.
I guess I am a bit misleading in this video when I say they’re basically all “the same shit”. But in terms of smoothness and feel alone, I am more than 100% confident that there are very few humans that can accurately guess every switch correctly in a blind and/or deaf test when it comes to EVERY iteration of Alpacas/JWK clones etc, even with the different spring weights. They do differ in sound and that is because of the different materials as you said. If anyone reading this wants to watch a good comparison video on this, I’d direct you to Andy Nguyen’s channel.
Great video! But would love it if you could make a macro view of the parts of the switch, there might be miniscule differences in leafs, railings or stems that may be unnoticeable at first look. And lastly, I do recommend doing the sound tests on the same slot for all switches then just combine the video side-by-side to make a more accurate comparison. Nonetheless nice content man!
You should try the Alpaca V2s. They are the smoothest switches I ever tried. They are leagues ahead of the old V1s. There is 100% a difference between JWK switches, but I can see why you would say that.
I have both V1 and V2s but they felt similar to me, and any difference would go away with lube and film. Maybe you had a bad batch of V1s? But definitely, they are very smooth!

Lel, I bought a 10 pack of creams and they are bad. They feel bad and they sound bad, and they should feel bad for selling them when you can pay less and get better switches.
So as someone that did indeed get jebaited by that video for the NK Creams, I want to ask what you dislike specifically about them? Not to say I'm endorsing them; I got them, lubed them, but they felt so scratchy, even after weeks of use. Nothing like the "smooth kings" I've heard so many regard them as. Especially compared to tangies, silks, inks, etc. I liked the thock, but it sounded nothing like Tifu's keyboard, (I know the board makes a huge difference). I feel like most of my keebs and switches don't sound as pleasing to ear as his videos in general do.
Hey! Thanks leaving this comment! Unfortunately, sound recording equipment and post processing can change the sound of switches on videos and kind of mislead people. None of the switches I’ve ever used had sounded like the “sound test ASMR” vids in real life. Though NK creams do indeed sound great, they were simply just too scratchy even after months of “breaking them in”. Also, I am not a huge fan of 70g bottom out, it’s a bit too heavy for me. The Alpacas, Lavenders, Mauves, all JWK linears I have used have a better feeling downstroke than NK creams. They’re even smoother than creams whilst unlubed. They also sound great, and you can get them even more thocky by filming them. Hopes this helps.
@@Dylen7 Helps a ton man, especially your take on sounds heard in videos. I had similar thoughts in my head, but felt I didn't have enough experience with keebs or audio to make that assumption. Definitely on board with the JWK linears and clones, despite how many there seem to be. Just some really great switches all around and absolutely agree with filming them. Also forgot to say, great content, quality, and production. Additionally watched your weight loss video. From someone who kind of let go for a bit, very inspirational.
are the lavenders 3 or pin or 5 pin? and also does it matter? or will it just work in any hot swappable keyboard? Im somewhat new and I want to get into it but Im not sure what to buy for these switches.
Thank you thank you! I believe the alpacas from the side by side opening are the V1’s but from the sound test they were Lilacs which I believe use the same mold

I am pretty indifferent about filming switches in general. If the housing is very loose then I will go ahead and film the switch. Otherwise I just lube
Gotta disagree with your opinion on Cream switches. Yes, stock the creams are pretty scratchy. BUT broken in creams are a joy to type on and sound amazing. Broke them in for 2 months then lubed and filmed them. Currently my favorite linear right now.
I also lubed my creams after a while of using them and love the feel :) Wanted to ask if the film made the typing experience better with them, as I have not filmed mine yet.
@@embraceta1581 oops sorry, just saw this. You must films your creams. Creams stock have a lot of stem wobble and films greatly help with that. Also films make the switch sound a bit deeper pitched imo if that makes any sense.
Hey man such a good comparison video, I got a question. So basically these are the Linear switches from JWK (as well as the JWK FFF I assume)? However can you tell me what are some clones of the JWK Tactiles, the ones I found are T1s/Koala are the same. Can you list others? I been looking at switches and I keep seeing new switches wanting to buy only yo find out they are clones.
Hi Tom, this is something that I was planning on exploring, myself. Really hard to say as I have never tried many of the DuRock tactiles. But there are so many JWK/DuRock tactiles out there, like the T1's Koalas, Everglide Dark Jade, Raras, Lilac Tactiles, Kiwis, and probably so many more out there.. I feel like it is possible that they are all very different switches, though they are manufactured by JWK/DuRock. It's pretty easy to get a very different tactile feel compared to linears, as redesigning the stem and slight changes in the leaf can give them a whole new feel.
@@Dylen7 Thanks for the reply, I have bought samples of a few, I might but some EG Dark Jade they seem interesting alternative to the HP, Rara was also something I might try get samples off, thank for your help.
I'm now considering adding those lilac switches to my build. I'm currently trying to plan my first from scratch build but I'm having trouble finding what I want. Any tips?
Hey! I'd start by exploring videos on youtube to know which keyboard kit you would like to go with. It's very hard to find any in stock at the moment due to the market being very high in demand with such little supply, but I'd go on reddit.com/r/mechmarket and search for the board (unbuilt) once you decided. Or wait for a restock, or check mechgroupbuys.com for upcoming keyboards. In the meantime, you can buy and lube your switches. @@Instinct0425 yeah im hyped for the ikki, but I'm actually just gonna put lilacs or t1's in them now, since im grabbing the next discpline65. Can't resist putting linears on a pom plate haha.
which linear switches do you suggest? i am building my first custom build soon and i am unsure which ones to get.
Try every one of them to see which of them suit the best for you, this is a preference thing and nobody can tells you that.
these might be the next switches i get
Auto sub for that hair roast lol 🤣🤣🤣
I almost bought creams at a higher price for my first keyboard. Thanks.
same here, thank god i saw this before i ordered nk creams
Lel, I bought a 10 pack of creams and they are bad. They feel bad and they sound bad, and they should feel bad for selling them when you can pay less and get better switches.
Lol they aren’t bad but there are better and cheaper options than creams
hey, which keycap set are you using in this video? they look clean
HK Gaming "Muted"
@@Dylen7 Thanks! the caps are pretty cheap, are there any noticeable shortcomings to the caps? anything I need to be aware of before buying?
That space bar kinda built differently
Great video man. really like the style and switches you cover?
Same shit but factory lubed - big selling point but a lazy one like me. Also the light purple tint for shinethrough is nice.
@@Bobertss thank you so much for that!!
I hope that when/if you get some new switches you enjoy them 😀
are the lavenders 3 or pin or 5 pin? and also does it matter? or will it just work in any hot swappable keyboard? Im somewhat new and I want to get into it but Im not sure what to buy for these switches.
Do you have to clean the factory lube like the holy pandas or it’s minimal ?
You can if you wish, but I never find any problems just lubing over the stock switch
aqua king vs alpacas vs lavender which is the best?
Are the alpacas in the comparison v1 or v2?
btw, nice video!
Thank you thank you! I believe the alpacas from the side by side opening are the V1’s but from the sound test they were Lilacs which I believe use the same mold
I heard that the smoothness wears out over time, is that true?
Great vid fam, this helped me so much! I was wondering, where did you get that fire Killua sweatshirt?
Thank you! My wife got it for me from Hypland.com
@@Dylen7 hella clean might have to cop one for myself
Nice, i like how many tactile and linear switches you have used I like watching your vids because they are fun, and you have much experience
Thank you! Glad you enjoy
Did you lube over the factory lube?
I just bought these switches and I can't wait! Apparently they do come factory lubed, did you remove the lube and apply your own lube or did you just add on to the existing factory lube?
I did not remove the factory lube. I applied 205g0 over the existing lube (made sure not to over-do it).
@@Dylen7 okay thanks for the reply! I just got them today so I think I might use a paper towel or some sorts to try to remove some of it because mine sound wet, oddly.

@@Dylen7 [UPDATE] I've just finished modding my keyboard with lubed + filmed lavenders! I think they sound absolutely incredible so thank you for making this video, otherwise I would have never had stumbled upon this beauty! I'll be releasing a sound test on my channel soonish in these few days, it's just uni is just starting so it's getting a bit busy but I can't wait to show it off! Thanks again mate!
Search about bike parts and youtube recommended mechanical switches. Nice... But I don't want any switch upgrades now hahaha
How long did they take to come in
Is it worth filming these? I tried on a gasket mounted poly carb keeb and couldnt tell a diff. I assume all the flex from the keeb already muting it
I am pretty indifferent about filming switches in general. If the housing is very loose then I will go ahead and film the switch. Otherwise I just lube
lmfao funny ass vid mane i fux with your content style. and im def finna get these lavenders now after seeing this
This is great content, i subscribed immediately! Beautiful eyes btw...
Thank you :)
Please make a comparisons of all linear switches!!!!!
did you lube over the factory lube or did you take away the factory lube and lube them with krytox?
lubed over it!
@@sanctus9857 thank you :)
What lights do you have for that nice background?
Is lubing/filming these worth it?
do you know what the lifespan is? Is it the usual 50 million keypresses?
Filmed vs not filmed?
Switch yada yada... but my dude has the skin of a Texas road house roll
@@tombaker2510 no prob! Let me know how that goes. Interested to learn more and compare

We’re the switches lubed during the sound test?
Please do a review on the Wazoo switches!
Links to what you would need below:

Tangerines are built out of different molds and materials making them smoother and banana splits are built out of different molds

that is monkeytype
Why does it say 'lilac (alpaca)'
