    Very, very valuable review. Thank you!!

    I sold my Hamilton because the thickness and weight really started to annoy me after a while. Even the newer handwinding version is essentially the same thickness. All the classic 1970s chronos were much thinner - why can't we do it now?

    Nice. I purchased the Big Eye a couple of years ago, but I didn’t wear it once and inevitably traded it towards my Tudor. I didn’t like the thick slab sides on the Longines, but it is very nice quality. The Intermatic chrono is one I’ve almost purchased on many occasions, but I haven’t pulled the trigger because of the high polished case. Still, that’s a great looking watch. The Junghans I’ve admired, as well, especially their Max Bill chronos, but I’ve had zero experience with any German brand besides Sinn.

      I just recently purchased the Black Bay Chronograph and I think I’m done as far as chronographs go, it is a fantastic watch 😊. German watches are very well made you really should give Junghans a try. Thanks for watching 😊

    Little correction.
    Longines has a 66h power reserve and Hamilton has 60h.

      Further correction. The original bigeye with the 688.2 calibre has a 54 hour power reserve. The latest iteration with the 688.5 calibre has 66 hour power reserve as well as a silicon hairspring. I have the original GPHG winning iteration with the 54 hour power reserve. Now you know!

    No vertical clutch on Longines.

      I am 100% sure it does have a vertical clutch system Lots of sources support this, here is one www.watchuseek.com/threads/does-the-l688-2-movement-have-vertical-clutch-or-not.5326695/

    I love the Longines Avigation BigEye and it is my "big watch" these days. I have the original version with the steel hairspring.

    • @mendipfox1650

      What year did they upgrade to the silicon hairspring out of interest?

    • @MrJamesDuffy
      @MrJamesDuffy Год назад

      @@mendipfox1650 I don't know but it was for the titanium case BigEye with the blue dial and Longines did a quiet upgrade of the original steel case black dial BigEye afterward. I am curious to know if I would get this upgrade if I sent in my BigEye for a Longines service.

      @@MrJamesDuffy that’s an interesting thought. Mines 2019 I’m steel so most definitely the 54h power reserve with the traditional hairspring. Do love it 👍🏻

      @@mendipfox1650 I love mine too! I like to remind myself how it was the first Longines Avigation BigEye retro reissue and that it is in the configuration that won it the GPHG Price Revival award in 2017.
