For the wedding, wear your grandfathers watch. I was able to wear my late grandfathers day-date that he wore daily and it was the best decision I ever made. Very cool to have a piece of him there with me on that day.
Solid reason for not wanting to show your own collection. And all your reasons make perfect sense. Cant fault you for that. Whenever youre ready, we will be waiting! Thanks again for all your GREAT content!
As far as your wedding day watch. 2 suggestions. 1st, a family piece thats been passed down, something a parent or your fiance bought for you or something that in general resembles and means family to you. 2nd, buy a new one! I went with option 1! I wore my Tissot Couturier Day/Date that my fiance bought as her very first gift to me in our relationship. She gifted it to me as a 1st anniversary gift.
This is why I love Teddy. From the awesome response about a collection video to his takes on the NBA greats, you show your versatility and a more full picture of who you are. If your channel was a movie, the character development would be A+
Great video! Regarding wedding watches, I got a JLC Duomètre Unique Travel Time for my wedding. Loved the romanticism of a dualtime watch as a reminder that, even if we’re in two different timezones, we’re still together!
On the wedding watch topic, I actually wore the first automatic I got, which was given to me by my grandparents. They sadly had passed the year before our wedding, and wearing it to me was like have a small part of them with me on a very important day. It was a Seiko Kinetic Ska581
I also wore my grandfather’s watch. Likewise it was a way to feel his presence on the day and honor his role in shaping who I am today on one of the most important days of my life.
Hey Teddy. For my wedding, I brought new matching (but not the same) watches for my wife and I which she picked. It helped complement her dress/outfit. The idea also being it's a new chapter in your life and something you can pass down to your kids. You can always change your watch for the reception.
We just got married two weeks ago and I was wearing my Nomos Orion. I grew up in a City 20 miles from Glashütte and my now wife got me the watch as an engagement gift. We went to Glashütte, visited the watch museum, and ended the day at the Nomos Store! I will forever love this watch and loved wearing something so meaningful and close to home on our special day. Thank you Teddy (and the team) for all your great content and your enthusiasm for watches!
As I m from Germany, I was wearing my Nomos Neomatic on a metal bracelet (because it was summertime and sweating hot). And on this watch I engraved the wedding date. So it's a real lovely memory, and I wear this watch only on special occasions with my wife - and I cannot forget my wedding-date and get in trouble :-) )
For my wedding I wore my orient bambino. It’s a gray dial variation. Definitely not my most expensive watch but it was my only true dress watch and it fit the color scheme for my wedding. I got married in December and we did a Christmas themed wedding. I’ll never ever sell that watch. I also wore it to both of my graduations from undergraduate and graduate school. It’s got so many memories for me and even though the retail is about $100, to me it’s priceless.
Hey Teddy - Thanks for all the content! My Fiancé and I did something fun. She was going to get me a watch, we talked about it, and she ended up buying me the exact watch I was looking at. Yes, it wasn’t really a surprise, but now I have a piece that I wanted, and it also has pretty significant meaning to me. I like that about my wedding watch. 😊
You made a very solid point about not wanting to show your collection that also goes for the wedding watch. Just make up your mind and don't tell. If i may make a suggestion, though, you should get something flashy! Judging from what i see online, you'll definitely wear a very classy tuxedo. Having some luxury piece to that is foreseeable. Remember you're supposed to have fun that day! My pick for you would be a Studio Underdog Watermelon for the occasion.
I honestly kept it simple and wore my black dial Le Locle for my wedding. It's my favorite piece and I was marrying my favorite person, so it just made sense to me.
On the wedding watch topic; our wedding planner made us handover our watches so we could not keep track of time, she was totally correct, it was a good idea. And I say this as a watch enthusiast. But… my advice, by yourself something, that you specifically want just don’t make it about the wedding per-say, instead make it about the mile stone in general. Hope that makes since. Keep up the great content man, and congratulations!
Hey Teddy... got married in April and purchased a new watch for it. I'm not on the rich side but I went for a Tissot PRX Automatic. It'll forever be my "wedding watch" and hold a special place in my heart no matter how expensive or large my collection grows. I'd advise you to make it special, get a new watch, and never get rid of it.
Just thinking the same thing. Going to be rather difficult associating that level of meaning or connection to a new watch you would buy or already own versus your grandfather's watch. Some runner up ideas I would consider would be any watch in your current collection that means something to your relationship with Courtney - maybe a watch you wore when you first met, an anniversary watch you already own, etc. Or you could match whichever watch she is going to wear that day (that is if she wears a watch during the ceremony or reception). I am sure though that you won't go wrong with whichever choice you make. Love the contents and congratulations to you two as well!
@Teddy Baldassarre Sometimes in events like this, especially in formal wear, not wearing a watch during the ceremony signals you are not constrained by any consideration for time and are there with your partner no matter. Strap the watch on at the reception. Just throwing a wild card out there.
@@TeddyBaldassarre Yep, I was going to say exactly this. But also... maybe your wedding is the only time you DON'T wear a watch. Sort of a reverse statement; like, she's more important to you than a watch! Wear your grandfather's watch for the ceremony, then go naked on the wrist for the rest of the night. Also, please tell me your dad has some amazing music things happening for the reception!
Not a suggestion for your wedding, but wanted to share a story about mine a few months ago. Im very new to watches, but have always had an interest and your channel has helped introduce me. I got myself my first mechanical watch in the form of a sekio king turtle, and all my groomsmen sekio 5s that appealed to something personal for each. We all wore them to the wedding. Not a dress watch, but it's what I liked so it's right for me. Thanks for your content and congratulations on your wedding!
Great video! Your answer re the cost of a watch is spot on; I also try to avoid telling the price. Only entusiasts understand getting an expensive watch. My wife and I bought watches together, when we got married and then again 10 years later and last year after 20 years. A real cool thing to have together :)
Thank you Teddy !!! Your content looks genuinely honest and you've made me to appreciate even more the value of a watch ! I'm really greaful to have found your videos !
I picked up a few months ago that you haven’t shown your collection in a long time and only rarely even mention the one you happen to be wearing in a given video. I like that, i think it adds a level of maturity and professionalism to your videos and differentiates you from other channels that always start their video with a wrist check. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but i like how you approach it. Keep up the excellent content and definitely do this again please!!
100% wear your Junghans Chronoscope to your wedding. It's a huge piece of your watch journey and you adore that watch. You have so many memories tied to that watch, and now you can add your wedding day as well!
My (now) wife got me a Caliber 3861 Hesalite Speedy as a wedding gift. We stayed at the Waldorf in DC, got the watch from the Omega Boutique in Tysons Corner, then had a lovely dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant in DC. It was later the watch that I wore with a classic black tux at my wedding just a month ago. Long story short, I think you’ll find more meaning in your watch choice for your wedding if it has some significance between you and your fiancée. Doesn’t have to be a wedding gift from her per se, but at least a watch that has some significance, perhaps a watch of her choice, or the watch that you wore wearing when you met her, or something along those lines.
As a former Marine Search and Rescue pilot, I own a Marathon GSAR USMC logo version 41mm automatic. The perfect robust watch for your job. FWIW, I wore my GMT Pepsi 16750 for 30 years as my one watch an it still looks great! Seven years active duty and two deployments to the Far East. If the Rolex could take 24/7, 365 wear for my first 22 years and survive the GSAR will do great! Speaking of a wedding watch, the Pepsi is the watch I wore for my wedding in my Marine Dress Blues in 1984. The Pepsi bezel looks great with the blue and red on the blues. That being said, if I was wearing Mess Dress Blues (black tie equivalent) I would be wearing my three hand, Gold Parmigiani Fluerier Tonda 1950 with the white dial.
I respect your decision to keep your collection private. I also completely understand. I think some things are best enjoyed in private. Keep up the hand work!
Hard to argue against that starting 5. Props for the Duncan pick at the 4! Prime Shaq is hard not to take, BUT I'm also not going to argue against Olajuwon either! Like you said, good luck beating that team!
Getting married in a few months. I'm wearing my father's Heuer 1000 vintage diver I had fixed up. I not only saw him wear it my entire childhood, it's my birth year watch. My mother bought it at a dive shop for my father's birthday the month before I was born.
Teddy, I love the fact you are a basketball fan. Fun Fact…. My 17 year old son has become a watch enthusiast by way of the NBA. His first watch was the Tissot Chrono XL NBA Collector watch for men. He then started shopping for other watches. He now has two Tissots, one Seiko and has asked for the Orient Bambino which I have actually purchased for him but waiting for a holiday or special occasion to gift it to him. I have just recently found your RUclips channel and I’m enjoying binging on your videos. Thanks for all the content and info you provide!
teddy. been following along for a while now. just wanted to drop a note and say your quality keeps getting better and better. its great to see the progression. always value your honest opinion.
For a "wedding watch," you might want to consider something you already have that is near and dear to your heart. Using it as part of your wedding ensemble only adds to how special it is, almost like a special scrapbook that you wear on your wrist. Then again, "Ask Mr. Wonderful" and see what he comes up with. Who knows, Kevin might give you something that's really amazing. :)
C’mon Ted, you’re so good at being straight with us. You don’t want to post your collection cause it’s probably very valuable and there’s internet crazies out there who might be stupid. Totally reasonable.
My wife and I got married at a courthouse in Montana. A few weeks prior, I bought the 2022 Santos De Cartier in blue.. and the wedding photos are fantastic! This watch POPS. Congrats on the wedding! 🎉🎉🎉
For my wedding I simply wore the most important watch to me that I got after a promotion at work as well. I wore my Speedmaster to my wedding on bracelet. Looks great in the photos.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding. My wife and I bought a pair of Nomos Orions (33mm and 35mm) shortly before the wedding direct from Nomos and had them engraved with the date and special message. Looking forward to seeing what you pick!
Hello Teddy, we got maried back in 2015 and I got for my wedding from my wife an Omega aqua terra 41,5 inch on a steel bracelet with a green seconds hand. This was also the beginning for me for my fascination for watches. The AT is a fantastic watch, I haven’t regretted this purchase for a moment. You can use it dressed up but it is also great for everyday. Good luck and thank you for the great content. 👍😊
My brothers wedding was just a couple days ago and we decided to surprise him with a omega speedmaster professional. Sadly we took off too many links and it was tight on his wrist but he still wrote it and has a great time.
I think I saw one of you videos where you mentioned a watch either your dad or grandfather left you, where that to your wedding, they are the ones that put you where you are - Great video
Regarding a wedding watch, do you have a particularly sentimental watch. Potentially from someone whose blessing you would have received and you would have appreciated on your big day. I see my sentimental watches as a way to connect with those i can't be with or have passed and like that idea. However... I'm also always looking for an excuse and love making new memories so sometimes special and new would be my alternative. Maybe something you purchase together, but you wear for the first time that day!
Teddy do you think it’s better to buy a second hand watch rather than a new one ? What I mean is when you buy a brand new £40.000 BMW and then you see the exact same car but one year older low miles in mint condition for £35.000 I find watches are the same buy a good second hand one the same model but it might be a year or two older but it’s £800 cheaper, I never buy new I always look out for the watch I want but it’s maybe a couple of years older what do you think ?
Happy to hear your getting married! We could tell it was a true love. I wore my vintage Tudor on my wedding day, a gift for my 18th. Felt sublime on my wrist that day..We wish you all the best for the big day and after.
Respect, Teddy! That NBA top 5 starting team would be so great together. Good picks all around. Hopefully one day we'll get to see your watch collection, I've always been curious as your taste in watches are similar to mine.
For my wedding, I wore a Radio Diastar Original R12391103, which I was gifted by my parents. To be honest, I hated it at first (felt like an outdated design), but it actually worked really well with my navy blue suit. Also, I was later super happy to have decided to wear that as it not only it made the watch more special and meaningful, but it also made my parents happy. Today when I look at that watch, the specs, the materials don't matter... the happy memories do.
Hey Teddy, my wedding is in a month and I will be wearing a Tudor Pelagos which has been sitting in a safe for 6-months waiting for the big day! My partner is Greek :)
Hey Teddy love the content....always go blind trying to figure out what is on your wrist in each video....how about a quick shout out to the watch you are wearing at the beginning or end of the video? Keep up the great work.
Teddy, your advice please. Save to purchase a decent watch (thinking Tudor), or build watch collection with the lower end like Orient, Bulova, affordable Seikos etc? Really liking that Tudor 1926 you showcased before.
Teddy, thanks for the video. I love the question/answer format. As for what watch to wear at your wedding… I would go for the watch that means the most to you. You did a video a while back about your Dad’s watch, or maybe it was your Grandfather’s? Obviously that watch holds great sentimental value to you, so I would say that watch would be a perfect choice.
Wedding watch story. My go-to watch for years was my Explorer 14270. I wore it on my first date with my now wife and so many other special occasions. I planned on wearing it to my wedding on a calf skin strap. My wife snooped around and learned I wanted a Black Bay 58 Navy and gave it to me as wedding present. I unboxed it hours before the wedding and it kicked the Explorer off my wrist. She smiled when she saw it on my wrist during the ceremony. Now the BB58 is easily my favorite watch because of it’s sentimental value and it’s a damn nice watch.
Teddy what is your opinion on IWC Pilot's Mark XVIII Model IW327009? Laco has very similar looking watch Munster 42 mm mmodel no. 861748. Is it worth to spend money for IWC? Best
Honestly the best way to address the "price question" is to simply associate the question back on them...usually everyone has some vice and you can make a connection on having a hobby for getting things you're passionate about.
Great video, just getting into collecting and have been watching all your content and really learning a lot. Got my Longines Hydroconquest recently as I am moving into the next phase of my collection because of you. Great stuff on this one, including the prime Timmy comment. Dig that starting 5!
Awesome video Teddy! Can you do a review or talk about the brand Norqain? they seem to have good watches but can't find a lot of reviews from big RUclipsrs.
Hi Teddy, congrats on the upcoming wedding. I just wanted to add my 2 cents on your "wedding watch", since you had opened it for public input. IMO, barring any significant pieces (gifts, matching set with your fiancee, etc.), I would advise wearing the watch that you feel most comfortable. I feel like when people get married and commit to one another, they are committing to that person, not what they are wearing. And, for my own speculation, I would hazard a guess at your Longines sector dial, since you had specifically called this one out in prior videos, which I find significant since doing a "wrist check" is not something you usually do. Anyhow, hope this helps. Cheers!
Hey Teddy, great video as always! For your wedding watch, I'd recommend getting a new one. The reason being is for my wedding I got the limited edition Grand Seiko SBGJ241 and every time I look at it or wear it, it brings me back to that special day. To me, it's my most special and treasured possession.
Teddy, congrats on the upcoming wedding first time I'm hearing about it! You are the one who got me into fine watches and my first real purchase is an Aqua Terra 41 in Blue as a retirement gift to myself for retiring from the Air Force. If I could pick your brain what's your opinion on the Christopher Ward C65 Super Compressor? Wanting that for a sporty diver and per your recommendation also probably a Mido Baroncelli for a dress watch. I don't plan on going past 3 in total so this will be my collection for a long time.
Marriage. Oh wow. Wonderful. Two suggestions for a watch: the first one from your father; if your fiancee ever gave you a watch, that's it. Let us know please 🌻🌻
For my wedding I wore an IWC Portofino that was a gift from my future wife after we had been dating for a while. It will always be my favorite watch because of the thought and care that went into the selection of it by my wife. Just a classic understated dress watch.
Something to consider. If your wife likes or chooses the watch and she will probably expect you to wear from time to time. On the other hand what will you do with the watch should the two of you go separate ways?
Teddy, what a great video. Your selections are inspiring! Btw, I searched for Belle Veste (not sure if this spelling is correct?) the blazer that you're wearing in this video, couldn't find it online. Kindly post a link to this. Thanks for all that you do.
My wedding was abroad and forgot my watch at home. So I found this Poljot De Luxe Automatic 29 jewells for very cheap and was the perfect watch. A bit on the smaller size, but that's more of a positive on a day like this.
Watching your videos is one of the reasons I’ve gotten into watches and to now know you love basketball like I do is really cool. Gonna disagree with Hakeem though, I’m a Laker fan so its Shaq at the 5 for me all day😎. More power to you and your channel. Godbless
My own wedding is coming up very soon and I chose to get myself a new Nomos Orion 35mm with custom engraving for that occasion. It's also specifically a manual wind because imo it gives you an even closer connection to the watch. I think getting a new watch is kind of a must because it will always remind you of that special day. I chose the 35mm because not only does it suit me well but she can also wear it if she ever wanted to. "unfortunately" you already have an Orion so that's kinda off the table for you :D If I had unlimited budget I would've gotten a Lange Saxonia Thin instead but oh well... :P
On my wedding day I wore a Tissot Chrono XL - my first ever watch that I purchased on the day that we picked up the wedding band. It may not be the fanciest watch but it worked perfectly for me at the time and got me interested in watches. While I have added a few more to my collection, that one will always remind me of that day.
Teddy, for your wedding watch go with a Vacheron Patrimony. It is timeless, classic, and upper-echelon without being pretentious. For myself I went with the most expensive watch in my collection at that time many years ago, a polar Rolex explorer 2.
Love Hakeem and Duncan picked. My all time starting 5 Pg-magic Sg-kobe Sf-larry bird Pf-karl Malone C- jabbar Of course I'd pick Jordan but had to pick a starting 5 that could beat yours Teddy!
Love all the wedding watch comments. I wonder if you could integrate “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” into a watch selection.
For your wedding, get a Reverse and have an engraving done on the verso that will be with you on your big day and forever serve as a reminder. You've done some amazing Reverso Tribute Small Seconds content over the years, so the monoface version of that would seem particularly appropriate.
Good video, & I really appreciate your explanation about the cost differences between Swiss vs. Japanese movements. Also, wedding watch....I wore my Dad's 1955 Rolex. Perhaps you have an heirloom-type watch you can wear for that special occasion.
Hey, Teddy. Great content as always. Love your video. Literally got into watches and learnt about them through your channel. Here's a thing that really bugs me out. I buy a new watch. It's beautifully polished and everything. But, even wearing it with utmost care and caution, there are always few tiny scratches here and there, especially on dress watches. What's your view on it and what do you think is a good solution for that? Really look forward to hear from you.
My now wife bought me the SBGA413 as a wedding gift and to wear at the wedding. The subtle pink dial fit perfectly with our color motif of navy and blush and the was a focal point in some of our wedding photos! It’s still my favorite piece in my growing collection and that’s a big reason why!
You should definitely wear your Omega Constellation on your wedding, Teddy! I think it’s one of your favourite watch you own. You always sound different talking about Constellation and Lange 1. Haha
Teddy does not want to post his personal watch collection because he is a secret MVMT only watch enthusiast 😎
😂
*_LOL_* 😊
... With that occasional Daniel Wellington to spice it up. 😂
lol
Ouch

Wear your grandfather's watch for your wedding, you can pass down not only your family legacy but also add one more major milestone to it.

100% YES YES YES
100% THIS.

Teddy, the reason why you do not want to show us your watch collection is the exact reason it would make that video so super interesting. 😊
My wife and I got married at a courthouse in Montana. A few weeks prior, I bought the 2022 Santos De Cartier in blue.. and the wedding photos are fantastic! This watch POPS. Congrats on the wedding! 🎉🎉🎉
I wore a blue Casio Duro to my wedding. Got a ton of compliments and I gifted one to my Father in Law, its become his primary watch!
Teddy is an nba fan! I respect you even more now. So awesome!
My brothers wedding was just a couple days ago and we decided to surprise him with a omega speedmaster professional. Sadly we took off too many links and it was tight on his wrist but he still wrote it and has a great time.
Teddy is a man of class that’s rare these days
Watch collectors should not worry about what other folks think about their buying habits because it doesn't matter what people think.
OMG, what great questions!! (all of them), but moreover Teddy's answers. Answers full of wisdom and good judgment. Cheers!
That NBA 5 in the end is the greatest collection on this channel so far. Price point?
Punches above its weight LOL
knowing you're into basketball too just made you even more likeable, can we get one of these videos (Q&A) at least once a month or more
Teddy for the wedding you have to go with your grandfather’s watch. What an amazing piece of history that is.
I had a pocket watch in my waistcoat for my wedding, adds some class and style! Would recommend.
I was hoping you included Duncan in your lineup! As you said, some people forget about him.
Tim Duncan at power forward is a class and clutch pick. That’s a 75 win season team with that starting 5.
in a collection, whatever has a story or a feeling attached it is a good one
Didn’t know you are so big into sports, Teddy! I like you twice as much now, and I already loved your content as it was!
Teddy, your advice please. Save to purchase a decent watch (thinking Tudor), or build watch collection with the lower end like Orient, Bulova, affordable Seikos etc? Really liking that Tudor 1926 you showcased before.
That's my starting five as well....good choices....and overall solid advice on watches 👍👍
Maybe the Lakers should hire Teddy as their GM?
He made some good picks 🤣🤝
Teddy what is your opinion on IWC Pilot's Mark XVIII Model IW327009? Laco has very similar looking watch Munster 42 mm mmodel no. 861748. Is it worth to spend money for IWC? Best
Honestly the best way to address the "price question" is to simply associate the question back on them...usually everyone has some vice and you can make a connection on having a hobby for getting things you're passionate about.
💯
Hey Teddy -- shout out from Chicago. Love your channel! Keep up the honesty and passion
Cheers!
I really enjoy your content. Being that I am a big Omega fan, for my wedding my father in law bought me an Omega Deville Co Axial Chronometer.
Came for the collection, stayed for the NBA starting 5
Pleasantly surprised by that.
I got a Casio 2 Invictas and a Bulova, Seiko 5 next to buy!
Marriage. Oh wow.
"unfortunately" you already have an Orion so that's kinda off the table for you :D
If I had unlimited budget I would've gotten a Lange Saxonia Thin instead but oh well... :P
Nice starting 5! Could have easily picked those same players myself. I'm going with Curry/MJ/Bird/Duncan/Chamberlain.
Any thoughts on Charlie Paris watches?
I bought my orient because of you and would like to know what you think of them.
Teddy, I think you NAILED the All-time NBA starting 5. The only change I would make is Magic Johnson in place of Steph Curry.
Watches aside, gotta respect that all-time starting 5! 💪
Love Hakeem and Duncan picked. My all time starting 5
Pg-magic
Sg-kobe
Sf-larry bird
Pf-karl Malone
C- jabbar
Of course I'd pick Jordan but had to pick a starting 5 that could beat yours Teddy!
You have a sense of style. This I want to learn from you.
Love all the wedding watch comments. I wonder if you could integrate “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” into a watch selection.
How about: Curry and Jordan ad the guards, Bird and James at forward, Russel at center.
Not sure if your fiancee has bought you a watch but my husband wore the watch I got him for Christmas. Congratulations Teddy!
Interesting questions:). Was involved in getting a wedding watch for a frnd and it was a Captain Cook.
Haha
