Thanks for being the voice of the 'ordinary' person out there - we can't all afford the latest gear and exotic equipment, and it's so nice to see you matching the professional results of other channels without the need for £1m of gear. Just shows that the photographer's eye is the most important bit of kit!
@@twlvz4344 I'm an experienced professional photographer and filmmaker, and still mainly use the Nikon D800 plus Nikkor lenses, also with Panasonic equipment. In the real world, there is almost zero image quality difference between the D800/D810/D850/Z6/Z7/Z9 sensors. The main difference between the D800/D850 and Z8/Z9 is mainly speed and cost.
@@Globetrotter-1 My comment was about "latest" gear, as I said. The D850 is a great camera but it came out in 2017 so a lot of fashion and trend based users would describe it as 'dated'. My point is that there is an unhealthy obsession with spending thousands on the "latest" gear - a D850 can be picked up for £2000 now whereas a Z8 as referenced in the video is about £4000. I think from your comment you actually agree with me.
Perhaps you should keep a bicycle helmet with your Wellies! LOL! Sorry, I could not pass that one up! I love your videos and the resulting photos! I’ve been saving for a Z8 in anticipation of its arrival…but will probably never make it! I think it’s time to start my search for a good D850! I primarily shoot wildlife, landscapes, and live music! I think the new focus system would be nice, but ouch, the price is obscene, unless you can pay for it with photo gigs! I’m using a D500 now and get really good results, but I’m afraid it’s going to quit one day and I won’t be able to find a D850! Keep doing what you are doing…and Thanks For Taking Me Along!
Well done for resisting the urge to buy the 'latest and greatest'. There is literally no need to be fooled by marketing gimmick. Fuji and Canon are some of the worst, followed by Sony and Nikon. You have a perfectly capable camera system that will serve you well for years to come. Great images, btw!
fab video, great shots, this is my kind of place, i will travel miles for these kind of places, i do wait for the right light within reason, kepp up the good work
On a different note, the spring sunshine image was well worth the wait. Absolutely marvellous. Makes me think of Tolkien's illustration Tthe Forest Of Lothlorien In Spring.
Great location Victoria & enjoyed your video....I don't always wait for light & just use what is available at the moment.... always love your dancing as it amazes me that the music just comes out of the trees.... love your work... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
The Sunbathing shot is great I love that, the wild garlic really brings it to life, also Spring Sun, it just shows that a bit of light lifts the whole scene up, beaut shot. and the dancing? well it wouldn't be a Courtney vlog without a few dance moves. Excellent stuff. 🖤
I hope your head is better now! Its always good to see people out and about using cameras that we can all afford, the worrying thing is have you noticed just how many used mirrorless cameras are now listed on the second hand market, I just wonder why people are changing their gear at a alarming rate! I loved your pictures of the wild garlic although when I saw you dancing I suspected there were magic mushrooms about too! Thank you for taking us with you that was most interesting.....
Thanks for sharing your thoughts for simple photographs and to adjust your mind with regard to your expectations and what you really find. Hope your head is better by now.
I wait for the light sometimes but not always, like you I’m somewhat impatient. Loved all the images. Hope your headache is better. Should we chip in and send you a hard hat
Just love your enthusiasm Courtney. Your little dances....so good. Nice location. Great images. I love the look of the wild garlic, I can imagine it smells quite good. We don't have that where I live.
Hope you're head didn't hurt for too long after that. Impressive images captured there. Enjoyed the video (dance moves brought a smile to my Sunday). :)
You might have already addressed this, but do you not feel the need for a remote release or timer because of the image stabilisation in the lens? I'm a middle aged guy, and back when, we'd be obsessed with using a cable release and mirror lockup and the whole works to shoot at 1/8th at 64iso. Do you feel that the VR lens compensates for any potential minor camera shake?
Spring sun was beautiful, nice video some nice images. I shoot with the 850 as well. I recently got a 300 f4 pe . Get it, it is incredible. I use it for bird photography. I have been shooting for 60+ years , that 300 might be the sharpest lense I have ever used. Nice video keep up the good work.
Yes, waiting for the sunlight, I often get bored and move on and come back to catch it just enough to miss the shot, I give you credit , you live in a old country where photography is a big thing, so many years of photography have been taken, to come up with new ideas, your videos are great 👍
"Dance like no-ones watching" - Outstandingly good video (apart from the dance moves) superb narration and simple but beautiful photographs, Thank you Courtney for another lovely episode.
Great video Courtney and some nice images. The first shot - I preferred the one with the tree on left as it seems more balanced? I also preferred the non-focus-stacked image of the garlic and waterfall, the image has a nice framing and adds depth to it with the foreground out of focus. Favourite shot was 10:00 - stunning - so well done for waiting. I've waited up to 90 mins for light, but as you, I'm impatient too so find it difficult to wait more than 20 mins!. Hope yr head is ok?
I always find it fascinating how all of our preferences differ! I didn't even consider leaving the foreground of the waterfall image out of focus, but I might take another look at that file and try it! Thanks! 😊
@@CourtneyVictoria Yes - I guess that's what keeps it interesting, we all see the same scene differently! I'm not a fan of focus-stacked images tbh - they aren't natural and look a bit odd imo, as our eyes don't see that way. Probably just me!
Wonderful video! A word of caution, though - if you hit your head and the headache persists, please get yourself checked for concussion. That’s really something you can’t risk putting off.
always wait for the light you want, I have been known to wait for 30 mins just for someone to walk into a shot before the light changes to much. Spring sun.......... well worth the wait.
All of the images in this video are gorgeous. Really good work. I agree with you on the first scene of the pathway - imo it's much a much simpler & stronger composition without the tree on the left. Beautiful, beautiful stills & video.
Fantastic video as always. Thank you for taking the time to explain how you are framing and taking the shots. Loved the hidden face you captured of a man with a beard in your "sun bathing" image. Keep up the good work.
Reminds me of myself, looking for compositions while out in the forest. The wild garlic really puts on a show, and it's wonderful that you captured in Courtney. One difference I notice, when I'm on the tripod, I rarely push the shutter, as I use the timer on the D750 to beep down then take the photo, as I don't want any possible movement, but you may have much more steady hands than I do, as well as slightly adjust the shutter a stop or two for movement? Hope your head is better, and it looks like your new tripod got the job done!
Thank you! Sometimes I use a 2 second timer, but I was having a day of fairly steady hands for a change ha! Saying that, I don't think I had ingested caffeine at this point!
Courtney thanks for another great video, you found a great place to shoot there and your final images are great to look at (oh and the dancing) I hope your head is feeling better now, The Photographic Eye sums you up perfectly, keep up the great work you do, from a wanabee happy snapper. 😊
Great work, Courtney. In northern England and southern Scotland, the bluebells seem to have arrived later this year and have often been competing with the garlic, so it was great to see the garlic as a carpet. Just wondered whether you might have done the waterfall image with and without the focus stacking and made a comparison. No doubt, preference is a very subjective matter! Thanks for a lovely video.
Thank you for sharing your pics of the wild garlic. They were really good (as was your dancing.....) hehe. As for waiting for the light, that is something I rarely do as I tend to be in the "here and now" mind frame so if I like something I photograph it and move on to the next thing. I know I possibly lose out on shots, but then I cover more ground and find more things so it all works out in the end (he says with fingers crossed)

Wonderful video as always Courtney...hope the ol' noggin is feeling better! I wait all winter for springtime woodland wildflower photography. No fields if wild garlic here in western Wisconsin USA (damn!), but a great variety of spring ephemerals. Please hang on to that kidney!! However, the lenses for the Nikon Z system are superior to the F lenses for the D850. The z 24-120 is especially better that the F mount 24-120...and focuses a lot closer.
