Another excellent video Courtney! You demonstrate perfectly the virtues of patience when composing a shot to get the image you’re going for, including the decision to not take the photo if it’s just not meeting your requirements. That really resonates with this amateur. Also enjoyed the post editing bit, equally educational. Thanks again, looking forward to your next episode. 👍😀
Thank you so much for watching! You certainly need patience for photography and I find the anticipation of returning to a location or capturing an image exciting! :)
Thank you for showing the editing part as well. It's as important as shooting in the creative process. Few creators do it. They either show the final image or an endless tutorial. This is just complete and well balanced.

Very interesting to see the thought process behind your editing, and to see how you use very subtle corrections to bring out your vision. I enjoyed this video very much much.
So nice to see how you work. The editing part is different form how I work and that made it very inspiring - always nice to pick up new ways to do things :-) thanks for you videos they are always a treat to watch!
This was really informative. I was particularly struck by your 'pre-burning' technique - darkening and desaturating etc. and then painting back in. I've just switched over to using Lightroom Mobile for my [far less sophisticated] editing approach and so this graphic pen based approach is very useful to me.
Having recently got back into photography quite late in life, you really are an inspiration and I learn such a lot from you. I watch your videos regularly (you're my wife's favourite - especially the dancing!!) and your recommendation for MPB I'm pleased to say , lived up to your description when I used them recently. Carry on enjoying your work as it really does shine through. Today's video was even more special - thank you.
Thank you so much! That's great to hear you're back into photography, I hope you're thoroughly enjoying it :) Good to hear you had a wonderful experience with MPB too.
Thank you for making this video. It was not only entertaining it was educational. I've learned a lot about Lightroom over the last year, but it seems like I'm always learning more about the program. You've taught us well Master Yoda (Courtney).
Thanks for sharing not only the procedure of how you look at your picture taking but the process of editing as well. Always wandered how you did that. So now I'm leanig. Thanks again Courtney.
Great and inspiring video - love how you talk your way through your process sharing your insights. I learned a lot and got much to think through and process 👍 Thank you 🤗
The D850 is one of the best cameras for me, and someday I will buy one (even though I already work with a mirrorless system). And your videos are great, keep it up. Wonderful pictures, beautiful video.
Quite the stark contrast to taking the camera with you when out with others that only grab quick phone snaps and have no patience for photography processes. Might have to get out more on my own. Thanks for your wonderful videos!
You can definitely feel that pressure to take an image quickly so you don't feel as though you're holding people up. I love being out by myself but it's also nice when you find other like-minded people who are willing to spend an hour staring at a tree with you ha. Thanks!
Great vid as always. I was at the same waterfall this week for the first time & took a very similar shot. There is another waterfall just upstream on the other side of the bridge which is just as stunning.
I didn't make it to the other waterfall this time around but I'll definitely take a look next time. It's a lovely, quiet spot though! Great minds think alike too :) I'm keen to see the falls with more water flowing later in the year. Many thanks!
one tip, at 4:41 one other filter you could use, is a ND, a big one, 2 or 3 stops, this gives a long shutter speed (1/2/3 seconds) which would blur the water, and create a nice landscape shot.
I enjoyed the video as usual Courtney. Interesting location's. I think that there is a a lot of potential at the waterfall and in the woodland at different month's of the year. Great image's as usual and it was nice to see you print them. What light source do you use for the mushrooms? Look forward to the next one.
Love photographing waterfalls. For some reason mushrooms have started sprouting up in my backyard where a tree was taken down. The first thing I thought about was photographing them. Now what would Courtney Victoria do? 😉
Absolutely, built the PC mid 2022 I believe. Specs: AMD Ryzen9 7900, Corsair Vengeance 64GB memory, GForce RTX 3060 Graphics Card, and for storage I have a Sabrent 1TB SSD and a Seagate 2TB HD in there :)
For the mushroom shot, I was wondering if perhaps you had increased the power of your light and bounced it off the silver reflector which would have softened the light. As for a second light, you might consider the Godox TT350 and their first radio transmitter (cheaper than the current ones). This flash is wonderfully small and light, very little added weight to your bag. It also has the versatility of a stronger light source than your current LED continuous light. I have used flash during the day shooting in coastal BC (British Columbia) forests with an even thicker upper canopy of branches than in your forests. I am usually firing it at very low power levels and on manual of course.
Oooh that would have been a good idea to try! Funnily enough I been taking a look at the Godox flash range recently, so your recommendation comes at the perfect time. Something small and light would be ideal. I'm hesitant to add more to my camera bag at the moment, there's too much in there already! Many thanks.
Hi am a new sub looks like a great channel. I have the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro Lens but I bought it for the Canon EF mount on an adapted R7. I use it with the Canon 1.4xIII and the 2xIII. I would have loved a D850 but I couldn't justify it as I'm planning a Z8 purchase with a F-ZII adapter. Got a Sigma 300-800mm F5.6 Nikon F variant. A bit heavy will get the fringer EF-NZII adapter for my other nice Canon lenses. Have you tried using an iphone15 pro max for maro.. I get such great macro pics. Just wanted to say good work and nice images.
Thank you! I have never tried an iphone 15 pro max for macro but I'd be intrigued to do so! I imagine you'll love using the Z8 when you purchase one, and if you can use your sigma 105mm with it then even better ha!
Sounds interesting! A few people have spotted faces in the trunk of that oak tree, so I will have to go back for a closer look. I love how we all see different things like this :)
I'm curious to know your thoughts regarding "dressing the scene." For example, removing the stick overhanging the falls in the first setting you shot. Do you ever do it, is it appropriate, etc?
I think it is up to the photographer really. If you have a specific vision for how the image will turn out and removing things like that will help you get there, then there is nothing wrong with that. :) The stick overhanging the falls didn't really catch my eye too much or bother me in anyway and so I was happy for it to be there.
Thank you. It was a nice journey through your workflow. At the 11:00 minute mark you have that oak tree. I noticed on a certain angle the trunk had somewhat of a gnarly face. I was really drawn to that. Check it out and I hope you see what I saw. Could be interesting.

Glad you enjoyed the editing segment :) Haha, I have noticed people love to hold their mics, it is certainly a trend! I tend to do it when I'm at a noisy location for better sound isolation. Not sure how well it works but those waterfalls can be noisy!
I was about to say it was nice to see you photographing something else besides mushrooms again but then, more mushrooms. 😅 That's ok though. It's only art if you're creating what you love. :)

My eye was being drawn to it quite often, I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep it in or not to be honest ha. Had there been a couple more leaves with it I don't think I would have minded so much.
I watched the MPB advertisement on this channel and traded in two of my cameras in good and excellent condition for a mirrorless camera in "like new" condition. However, the "like new" MPB camera arrived with a dirty sensor, a scratch on the protective shutter, and the cheapest charger instead of the original. For instance, a second hand Nikon 24-70/2.8 Z MPB price 1.819 Euro BUT absolutely new in other stores with Nikon adv program price was 1700 +/-
Obviously it's not profitable. You have to pay VAT, their work if it's reconditioned, their profit and also the shipment. It's a little weird that you bring that up here in Courtney's video but ok. Personally, MPB has worked well for me. They gave me far more for my used lens than I expected and the items I have purchased from them are fine. I assume you have tried contacting them regarding your issues? Unless you have done that I don't think your public criticism is valid. Also, don't they have a 60 day guarantee on any purchase?
