- Follow me in the field as I photograph a single location to see how many images I can come away with. I take advantage of the rain and a rushing waterfall, talk you through the process behind my images and manage to get the inside of my wellies wet! Join me while I practise some landscape photography and see if you can spot the lens in my bag I didn't get around to using!

Thank you for watching! To claify the wonky waterfall confusion, I did use the D850's virtual horizon but the odd angle of the fall was still throwing me off on screen 😂 the more I stared, the wonkier it seemed! 😄
I love it! Have you thought about starting IR or UV photography?
I know what you mean... Many years ago, when I was in magazines, one of our production heads commented on an image and said "That's wonky, straighten it." He was told that it's perfectly level to which he replied "Well, wonky it up until it looks straight". It can be difficult sometimes with images that have no obvious "level levels" to know what's correct and what isn't and the simplest thing, I find, is to do what feels right through the viewfinder (not the LCD) as you are not impacted by peripheral vision.
Very pleasant watch. thanks
I just saw a girl full of passion, creativity and great photographic sense. Thank you so much Courtney for showing me such beautiful passion and enthusiasm.
It doesn't matter if your images are loved by a lot of people, what matters is how you enjoy the entire journey and how you approach it to get what you want & make yourself happy. I love your images of course but love your brilliant photographic eye and a massive passion for photography far more.
Once again, thank you so much.
I am watching a lot of YT videos on photography, but got to admit your episodes are the most joyful experiences. Your open, candid and humble style is not only inspiring me to take my gear and get out into the woods, but also quite intimately sharing your mental and physical journey that is pretty rare here. Thank you.
Courtney, I enjoy your material and wanted to tell you. The correct words weren’t coming until I watched “The Photographic Eye” and Alex showcased your channel. He mentioned how you embrace the chaos! I am trying to emulate your “blankly staring” to improve my photographs. As for dancing, last week I nailed an Aurora shot and did do a little happy dance. Thankfully it was in the dark because I’m not ready to match our moves!
I have been photographing as a hobby since 1968 and am now learning things I've not had or taken time to study regarding my pastime. Your teaching style is clear, understandale, and seasoned with your enthusiasm, humour, and sincerity. Long may you teach. At age 74, I am an avid student. I wish you well.
I was just watching The Photographic Eye RUclips channel and Alex gave you a very nice complement on your channel. I’m glad to see you getting some recognition that you so well deserve. Cheers.
I think we are seeing the emergence of a new Courtney... Still with the same goofiness (emptying the wellies & going back to walk between the two trees) but also with a new found confidence, since the return from Antarctica. Great stuff CV. 😊
Wonky or not, alien rock, royal we me myself and I. 14:30 royal bath. What a refreshing approach. Love it. I just wonder how many of you left in the world. Not to many. Stay there don't go anywhere we need you.
I always feel far more relaxed about my own photography journey when I watch one of your videos. Thank you please keep it up your photos are an inspiration
To me, the fallen tree looked like to antlers...like 2 animals hooked and fighting. Spectacular find.
Again, a great video. Washing the feet was almost as entertaining the dancing!
As always, i love to see your mind working.....it always challenges what i see. The fallen tree was really great.....perhaps a high contrast black and white would suit it as well? I think its great that two people could visit the same place at the same time and produce such different concepts, both of which could be equally valid and impressive. It just shows its worth spending those extra minutes (hours?) contemplating.
Your videos always put me in a wonderful mood. So inspiring and fun. Thank you!
Nice waterfalls. When I go to the mountains here where I live, I always say that if there isn't anything else to photograph, there's always the waterfalls. Nice shots.
Beautiful images, the waterfalls, moss covered rocks and the fallen tree (moss covered). 👏
Alien rock monster in Galaxy Quest. Never give up.....never surrender. Good slogan for photography too.
Love the shot "Down the Cascade" Your narration is excellent. I find I am enchanted by your photography and your eloquence.
Great Video! I love your LOTR reference with “backward falling ent” at the end. You are my kind of people!😊
Discovered your site thanks to the photographic eye. Nice work Courtney. I love those moss colours.
The fallen tree was a great shot. So much moss. We call them a "Nurse Log"
Thank you for including exposure data with your photos.
Your photography tips are fantastic, brave, mad but love them
The display on the back has a virtual horizon display. If you go to the wrench icon in your menu, you can activate it there, then you know your shots are level
Indicators in the viewfinder can also be activated.
@@jorbru This is the real secret
I once bought a spirit level for the flash shoe.
Great location. Super images. Must admit you had me worried for a second when you took the vertical image of the waterfall and said you hoped you wouldn't have an accident, for a minute I thought you were going to lie on your tummy overhanging the fall and take the shot. That would have been dicey. The last image, I thought it looked like it was trying to run away. Really enjoy your video's. Love your sense of humour.
Oh my goodness ha. No, I know my limitations and that wouldn't have ended well! 😂 thanks!
Thanks Courtney for sharing your experience.... magic location with many good compositions....yes I could spend all day there taking lots of pics from different angles etc.... just love your presentations & your enthusiasm... great results... cheers from Australia 😊❤
I like the backward falling tree. Good image. Thanks, I enjoy watching your videos.
I somehow ended up on your channel by mistake. I really like your approach. I'll be back. Thank you.
Love to watch you working a location. Super images!
Courtney You are a Sweet, Clever, Talented Photographer, and not Hard to Look at :) :) I Truly Enjoy Going on Your Adventures With YOU :) :) and Long Live NIKON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the "Down the Cascade" works very well. Great image!
So pleased to have found your channel, I am still a relative novice in photography. I find your presentation very informative relaxed and enjoyable to watch. You also make me smile with your humour 😊
It's the story you see in a composition that's your artistic gift a true creative, thanks for posting see you next time.
Your point about 'wonky' horizons is interesting. So many landscape/scenic pictures on social media have dodgy horizons and it really infuriates me, particularly on seascapes. Our brain does have an inherent spirit level that detects whether it is right or not. However even without a genuine horizontal component we have a sense of whether something looks correct - or perhaps I should say pleasing. So I think this then becomes a compositional decision and your second picture illustrates this, I often find myself rotating a crop in post entirely on this decision, does it look good? Thanks for some lovely pictures and insight into your process.
I laughed out loud when you poured the water “out” of your boots!! Beautiful images as always!! Thanks for sharing!
I just love the greens. My fave shade. Fabulous shots.
Liked the fallen tree image . Awesome.
Love your videos Courtney, and your irresistible personality! And you shoot Nikon!!! 👍🏼
I’m here thanks to the photographic eye channel. So far I love your content and your style
Looks like the crystal skulls on Indiana Jones ...
Great shots ...love " resilience "
Loving your videos, thank you for inspiring me to get back out with my camera.
Serendipity or algorythm doesn't really matter. Came upon your channel and truly enjoyed your presentation. I am from a place of nearly unlimited natural scenery.
Seeing the stacked wall at the top of the stream kept pulling me into wanting to frame it top 2/3 with the water slowed to smooth. Same place : different eyes.
I will commit myself to digging through your channel in the next week or so with expectation of finding more gems. Thank you. (liked, expecting a subscribe) Cheers.
The sad thing is that since watching your videos I've also begun to see alien heads, trees with arms, and other oddities in nature......its gone well beyond faces in the clouds! Is this a form of madness that one recovers from, or am I now forever bound to imagine the ridiculous every time I pick up my camera? It is inspiring though, how an active imagination unlocks the creative mojo.
Haha!!! You'll never go back now 😂 let your imagination run free 👍
Wonderful video. You have an amazing voice. I could listen to you all day. The pics you took were very nice.❤
I love your perspective, Courtney.
Thank you! Your videos always inspire me to go outdoors with my camera.
Wonderful and very informative video 👍
Great vid, as always. I think the 'Resilient' shot is particularly successful.
It is so awesome to see great results from the very same kit I am now shooting with, makes me happy with my latest big purchase. Another beautiful video. 👍
Excellent video! Educational and entertaining! Fabulous images. I love your joyous attitude! Thanks for taking me along!

Entertaining video as always. I really enjoyed the "Resilient" shot.
It's the first time I've watched one of your videos, I love your photos, as well as the deliberate approach you bring to making your images. You are very informative and engaging Courtney!
Another great video. So relaxing. I see a raptor in the fallen tree 😂
A raptor?! Love it!
Brilliant video Courtney, right enjoyed it, i also like to take my time and get several shots from places too, but a lot of my photography friends just like to hit the button and go to the next location lol. Keep up the great videos
I really enjoy see your videos. You're amazing. The place is beautiful and relaxing see and peace on mind ...thanks for share
My first visit to your channel and I really enjoyed it, thank you!
The whole time I was thinking, please don't slip and drop the camera in the water. Another beautiful inspiring video.
Hello Courtney,
I've just discovered your channel after it was randomly suggested - and I don't regret taking a look. I think you are very skilled, both as a photographer and as a video producer, and everything is done with an appropriate dose of good humour! 😃
After watching the previous video, where you explain your vision condition, I was even more impressed by your photos.
I have now started working my way backwards through your films and already I can determine that you are in my top 3 photo content producers!
Thank you so much for sharing, and for the tremendous work that goes into producing quality videos like you do. This is really inspiring!
Looking forward to the next video 🙂
Hi Courtney.
The fallen tree at the end of your video is reminiscent of a komodo dragon shot from a low angle coming towards the camera.
Hi. I enjoy you videos very much. They remind me of the fun and pleasure that I had while working as a professional photographer. I notice that you always have the Rule of Thirds grid on your screen. Have you ever considered using the Fibonacci Spiral or the PHI Grid to provide some interesting variations? Keep making videos. You have a unique talent.
THANK YOU for taking us with and again for all the inspiration!
Nice shot, that last one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. This is my first time watching your channel and you have gained a new subscriber. Looking forward to more content. You should also know that I found you due to a recommendation from "The Photographic Eye" channel.
I love your photos and video content. I hope you are enjoying your D850 as much as I love mine. Keep up the great work!
Hi. I think that intimate shot at 12:20 of the stick in the water is quite superb.
A wonderful video when you say standing around that is the reason you get such amazing shots that look so natural, you don’t rush and actually look at what you are taking.that is why I enjoy your videos so much 🔥🔥🇬🇧
Loved the video Excellent images.
Descending. Probably the best rock song ever created.
Very imaginative. I also use a hot shoe attached leveling cube, but it can still be wonky. Carry on. 👍🥂
I’m glad I found your channel. It’s exactly what I’m looking for. You give great insight to what you are thinking as you compose shots.
Love your job. Thanks!
love your work
Courtney - I always enjoy your energy filled videos! Your positivity, enthusiasm and your story shines through. Love your photo's and your thought process in composing them. Thank you for providing great content!
Another relaxing and enjoyable video with beautiful images... thank you!
Great video, Courtney, as always! You never fail to amaze and inspire!🙂
Great as always
I am a sucker for waterfalls (and cute kids, lone trees, lone bicycles, big mountains, and grand vistas). So naturally, I liked all the images. I thought the alien head looked like a crocodile head. Shows you what I know.
Love it glad u made ur safe
Brilliant.
They’re all stunning images. This is a great masterclass on shooting waterfalls. I love the idea of looking down waterfalls to shoot too. Thank you!
great photos, keep up the great work.
I just found this channel and have binged it for days. I love it! Thank you so much for sharing, Courtney 😃
Always enjoy watching your videos, nice job!
Great videos and shots.
Loving your vlogs, keep up the good work👍📷
This is my first time I saw your video and I love it! Im going to follow your videos. Thank you. Cheers from Norway :)
Excellent and well thought out video, thank you. Great to see the mighty d850 being put to good use, the z6s and z7s really are no better!!
Hi, I like the pictures and I enjoy your channel.
For getting level on my camera I have a little cheap spirit level that slides into the hot shoe. You can take it out and rest on top if shooting portrait or buy a dual version. I see below Nikon has the "virtual horizon" but it's worth having in the bottom of your bag for the odd situation.
Only just found this channel. It slows down time, and accentuates beauty.
Your videos are fantastic!
Enjoyed the video as usual Courtney.
What a great location with so many waterfalls to choose from.
Like you i would be there for hours.
You captured some cracking image's as usual.
beautiful location.
Haven't watched your videos in a while and I see now you have left me in the dust with that D850, ha..! Anyway, I still treasure my D750, it was nice to be in the same league so to speak for a while. Cheers.
You captured a very nice set of images. Especially like the two tight in waterfall shots.
I came across your videos by accident, such an inspiration from me to concentrate another aspect of photography. You have such a vivid imagination. Keep up the good work.
