I always enjoy your videos. Congratulations on having your first sponsor. If you have captured the attention of MPB, you must be doing something right. Keep up the great work.
For the final waterfall image, it would be really interesting to see the blend of long exposure for foreground + normal shutter speed for waterfall itself. I know composite is not everybodys thing as well, but that might actually end up being the best of two worlds.
Hello, Courtney! I love your videos and join my friends who all agree that you are definitely gifted! I too love the Nikon D750! I would appreciate knowing if you shoot RAW as a primary. Thanks!
Thanks Courtney another great video. As others have alluded too in comments, your approach is much more artist with camera rather than technician with artistic pretentious. Your ‘feel’ for the correct composition really inspires and challenges me to take really meaningful images that convey my connection with the scene. You do have the knack of bringing out the ‘arty farty’ in me lol. Thanks.
Yep, quickly becoming my favourite photography channel. The combination of images and explanations really does relate for me, I identify with the struggles. That first image I thought, nah, that location isn't gonna work, just too much water! Then the image, I genuinely thought wow! My only criticism...post more often, but I know quality not quantity eh?
I agree with you about the overly long waterfall images. It seems everyone is doing them and after a bit all the images look alike no matter who has taken them. I generally do several images with fast shutter speeds and then some at a speed of about ⅙ of a second or thereabouts. Where I now live it is sunny, cold and very dry. I grew up in Seattle and there are times I do miss the rain but not as much as you seem to be having
I'm a couple hundred miles north of Seattle, and the rain can make one weary, but soon after the rain, the 'light' is spectacular for getting quality images, especially in the fall with the changing of the colours of leaves. Also by Fall, often the waterfalls are more poignant, and worthy of taking the time to photograph. :)
Always take the shot! It is your time and the trip that is expensive. So, while you're there, jump right in. You can, at your computer... with your cup of coffee, say "oh, well." If you take the picture you might be saying "oh, WOW!" I was ready to turn off my computer when I spotted your video, and I was saying "oh WOW" ... a new video from Courtney! Good stuff!
huge congratulations being approached by MPB, it's long over due brands and sponsors have both discovered you and supported you, and I genuinely hope this is the start of your next phase of content to fully funded and industry supported ( hint hint @Nikon !! ).. keep making magic happen, always thoroughly enjoy your vlogs.. and images.. warmest regards from Sydney ( yes Australia.. yes the other side of the planet )..
Good Day I follow you as we have almost all the same gear, and I cant afford a mirrorless upgrade so here we are. I have learned a few things from your vids and your obviously enjoying.
Nice video Courtney. For the whaterfall with the swirling foam, I would do 2 exposures, One for the waterfall and another for the foam, and would merge them im post
Love the pictures. What a waterfall. We didn't have such heavy rainfall here in western France. Saturday I fell on a similar rock incline. I hesitated before going down. Then couldn't resist the beauty of the scenery. Went down caustiously on the slope and managed to get to the water level succesfully. Then I forgot about being cautious. My camera and lens now have a little scratch to recall me not to do such silly things again.
Oh no! At least it's just a little scratch, it could have been much worse! It's very easy to get caught up in the beauty of a location and forget where you're putting your feet! I hope you captured some lovely images.
congratulations on drawing a sponsor, MPB, you deserve and have worked for it. Great images from such a torrent of water, difficult at the best of times. Once again, congratulations.
I really liked your long exposure waterfall shot at the end. But, as you said, it’s all about what speaks to each of us. Thanks you for sharing your journey out in the rain!!
I love your channel 😀 Those waterfalls are amazing, the walk can be very slippery, especially over the tree roots, so it's vital to stop to look for compositions unless you want to end up on your arse 🤣
I actually liked the very long exposure, but I get that not everyone does. You could try a time-blend in these situations; a longer shutter speed for the surface movement and a shorter one for the falling water - a more complex edit, but it would give you the best of both worlds.
You did well all very nice and the camera went home safe and well as did you and congratulations on the mpb sponsor you do a good job and i enjoy what you show us thank you.
I think you will have get some advise from Antarctica Courtney between her penguin shoots but you know she is a busy lady. Love you girl, you are so much fun.
Nice video ! I too went to the waterfalls (though, not in England) a few weeks back and was surprised how much more water there was in there ! Almost slipped a few times because of the mud and how slippy the trail was. I recently bought a D700 on MPB, though not being in England, the camera came frome their site in Hamburg. And I don't know if that's widespread to all MPB centers or just this one, but my camera wasn't tested at all, and in fact came in defective (the aperture lever in the lens mount was in the down position by default, which happens when something broke in the mechanism that usually keeps it up. It's a very costly repair in general). I was able to return it and pick another one (kinda) free of charge, but that added weeks of delay that could have been easily avoided if they just bothered to test the gear they ship. I'm sure that it would be okay for most people but if you shop through MPB, PLEASE do some research about the camera you're buying, especially if that an older DSLR with a lot more moving parts than the modern mirrorless cameras have. It turned out alright for me, but you might not be so lucky, research of potentiel defects (especially those are a little specific to the camera model and are not wide spread issues, if they missed the aperture lever on my D700 (which is a pretty glarig issue, not gonna lie) who knows what can slip through the net)
I like the perspective you take going back to the place you had been before. The lighting & weather gives way to the great images you captured in the flow of waterfalls. Thank you for sharing!
Delightful video, and chock full of useful information, so thanks. I agree that choppier water flow is way more interesting than gauziness. Lastly, I have to say that the brunt of photography videos out here tend to be produced by guys, so it's refreshing to hear cogent photo tips from a member of this planet's majority. Thanks!
I think that the wide image at 4:13 with that negative space, is beautiful, I like a lot all the grass and leaves information (as addition of detail and colour). About 5:04, sometimes "just a lot of water" is the perfect subject ;) for example, I admire hughly the work of Rachael Talibart, so please, always let a chance for those scenes that don't look "so interesting" at first sight. Maybe they can surprise us with a second chance.
Well done Victoria. I congratulate you for your work. I recommend: always check that the camera is firmly connected to the tripod ... a cordial greeting. 😉🙂👍
Thanks Courtney for sharing your experience with great results....I always love pics that include 'water' & vegetation for their colours etc. Your sponsor is well rewarded having you on their side...well done...I always love your presentations & especially your thoughts & helpful comments... cheers from Australia 😀❤️
Spectacular I so enjoy your videos, as another Nikon user. Have to say i was holding my breath while you are on the slippery wet rocks. Congrats on the sponsorship well deserved .
Another wonderful video. I love your honest reflections on the day out and that you're not afraid to admit to disappointment. Congratulations on the first sponsor. I look forward to the next video!
Enjoyed the video as usual Courtney. Congratulations on your first sponsorship. Certainly a lot more water than the last time you were there and no accidents thank goodness. You captured some really great image's.
Hi! I had exactly the same issues on Sunday. Went back to an area I scoured and because of the water I couldn't get to the best viewpoints. Persevered and got some decent shots and experimented as well.
If I may, fly fisherman/woman use special felt soled footwear to avoid slipping on wet and/or algae covered rocks. I myself have used them and they work wonderful. Perhaps look into either getting a pair or having an existing pair of shoes fitted with the felt soles. Coud turn into a very good investment.
Yay! Another Courtney Victoria photography video! Congrats on the mpb sponsorship - very good fit for the channel considering your recent D750 journey. The photos were fantastic - as always.
Congratulations on your sponsorship, we'll deserved, as you make some high-quality videos. Also you are one of a few photographers who show the reality of landscape photography, it doesn't always go to plan. After saying that you took some beautiful shots. Look forward to your Next video. 😊👍
I liked the long exposure image. The trails in the water are really interesting. With a bit better lighting conditions it could be great. For the purposes of RUclips where we are only seeing each image for a few seconds, at least.
It was awesome you were out in the soggy conditions, the settings were perfect. I love the mist image, and even just before you put the vertical crop outline I was debating whether it would have worked well. But at the end I think the horizontal view shows more of the rising spray of the cascade.
Thanks Alex! I almost took a vertical image as well but I was getting quite fed up with the spray/rain and wanted to move on. On location I thought a horizontal composition would be best, but typically after looking at the image on a computer I think I'd have liked the vertical better ha!
Can't beat a stroll around the Afon Mellte - Afon Pyrddin areas. I agree with you - too much "water vapour" in the river just doesn't look natural. Diolch.
Thanks! I really enjoy using the D750 and it was within my budget when I had to replace my old, broken body. I'm curious about the D780, but I'm not convinced it's worth the extra money.
Possibly a snooted flash to freeze the waterfall whilst a slow shutter speed for the pool. Flash would need to be fairly powerful though, Elinchrom portra I use does the job nicely. xx
Love your videos as always, and appreciate the way you edit your content to tell a concise story. Also appreciate seeing I'm not the only one who is a bit nervous about slipping on those wet rocks!
Congratulations Courtney on your first sponsored video! 🎉 Another lovely video. I love revisiting waterfalls during different seasons and weather conditions. Sometimes it can feel like a completely different waterfall. The foam swirls were great in that one photo, but I agree, the softness of the waterfall was...ummm...yeah didn't do it for me either. Maybe you will be able to try again after a dry spell, though the foam might be lacking. 🤔 Ah the challenges we face as outdoor photographers! 📸😀
Love your videos. Love your explanation of what you’re doing and the issues you’re dealing with. Sometimes when I can’t get the wider shot I go to a telephoto a try and get a close up of a smaller feature / something you sometimes overlook in the wider view. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good videos, really like them.
Thanks for the video C.V. these waterfalls are nice. I didn't know it was so nice there. As for cropping, I also have a problem with it, whether vertically or horizontally. I think there is no single rule. Just as you like it. :)
You could try a composite of the foreground and background. So you get the falls with some texture not so cloudy and the foreground with a longer exposure to get the swirl effect.
I'm glad to see there were no accidents this week given the conditions! I'm with you and prefer seeing some texture in the water to give it a feel of the movement, and you did a great job given how much water there was...waterfalls are not easy when they're overfull. I really like your first 2 photos in particular - its a lovely scene with the hint of autumn colours and the little bridge. And congratulations on your first sponsorship Courtney, that's awesome!!!
Thank you Lisa! I'm thankful for no accidents this week too haha. I think that's the first time I've photographed waterfalls that full so it was an interesting experience.
Congrats on your first sponsor! ANd another great video, too. As others have said a blend of 2 different shutter speeds for that last waterfall might just give you the best of both.
Hi Courtney...I just recently discovered your channel and I am extremely happy that I did...your videos are so much fun and interesting...glad I subscribed 😊😊
I've found it quite daunting around some of the waterfalls there when there's a high level of water running, especially if on my own with nobody around. So I'm totally impressed with your perseverance and determination in getting those excellent images in tough conditions. Next time you go, if conditions are calmer, I'd recommend going on from Sgwd Gwladus to Sgwd Einion Gam. It's beautiful and my favourite waterfall in the area, but wear some wellies though as the river needs to be crossed a few times
I'm curious why you wouldn't exposure blend the long exposure with the ND filter with a shorter 1/4 exposure for the waterfall keeping the swirling foam and the waterfall the way you like it?
Got to love the 'The Fairfolk who took him to their world' giggle you had! Always a pleasure to watch your video's Courtney, as your adventures (of the video's of yours I've watched so far) are very much eye pleasing, of which my distant heritage is of Wales, giving me a small/short view of what my distant relatives may have seen. Nonetheless, I also am pleased how you add your photo information from your shot, especially in that I'd like to start doing more long exposure shots myself, thus giving me a view of how you go about setting your camera for the shot. Unlike most here I'm sure, the 'actuations' on my D750 are quite possibly low to most, in that I sometimes get out a fair bit, and then not use it for months at a time, as I enjoy other activities as well, so it becomes an event where access to photography has it's limitations because of this, yet I do love it very much. I belong to a local photography club, have won a few discernible accolades from competitions, but generally take photo's for my own enjoyment, to decorate my own home's walls as wanted. 🌻
Hi Courtney
I used MPB to buy a lens I needed, very happy with them, I emailed them and credited you for being the reason I used them.
I can’t wait till you find the fairy kingdom. That’s gonna be an epic video.!!!
No pressure Lol😅
I always enjoy your videos. Congratulations on having your first sponsor. If you have captured the attention of MPB, you must be doing something right. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Jay!
For the final waterfall image, it would be really interesting to see the blend of long exposure for foreground + normal shutter speed for waterfall itself. I know composite is not everybodys thing as well, but that might actually end up being the best of two worlds.
That's what I was thinking as well!
Hello, Courtney! I love your videos and join my friends who all agree that you are definitely gifted! I too love the Nikon D750! I would appreciate knowing if you shoot RAW as a primary. Thanks!
Congratulations on getting MPB to sponsor you!
I been getting most my gear from MPB lately, really recommend them.
I really loved the shot you didn't want to ever have existed! Different strokes for different folks I guess? 😉👍❤
Thanks.
I think the second picture with this massive flowing water would look even more impressive in black and white ☺
Interesting! Perhaps I'll give that a try and see how it comes out!
Lovely work, thanks for braving the weather. I will have a look at MPB. 😊
A very refreshing youtuber. You have something different to offer. Keep it up.

That featureless blur is so clichéd huh? And aside from that it doesn’t look good.
Awesome waterfall photos, thanks for your insight on the ND filters!
Always take the shot! It is your time and the trip that is expensive. So, while you're there, jump right in. You can, at your computer... with your cup of coffee, say "oh, well." Great vlog, stunning photo's, but... I miss a dance move...maybe it was too slippery, ha,ha!
I just enjoy your videos so much, it’s tranquil, relaxing and informative. Your goofball side reminds me of a dear friend. 😁
Another great Video. I liked it but I was missing you dancing.
Good Day I follow you as we have almost all the same gear, and I cant afford a mirrorless upgrade so here we are. I have learned a few things from your vids and your obviously enjoying.

@@CourtneyVictoria No :)) it wasn't worth it in the end. There were some bush tree that masked part of the scene.
Sure it could have been much worse.
congratulations on drawing a sponsor, MPB, you deserve and have worked for it. Great images from such a torrent of water, difficult at the best of times. Once again, congratulations.
Yeah you’ve grown so much since you’re Korea days and really found your voice. You’re videos are always enjoyable to watch.
The swirling water looked cool. Perhaps focusing on it and excluding the waterfall might work? Congratulations on the sponsorship.
I really liked your long exposure waterfall shot at the end. But, as you said, it’s all about what speaks to each of us. Thanks you for sharing your journey out in the rain!!
Thanks for the video as always.

you convey such a curious and playful approach to photography! it's very inspiring and memorable! thank you!
You did well all very nice and the camera went home safe and well as did you and congratulations on the mpb sponsor you do a good job and i enjoy what you show us thank you.
briliant video, well done you, stay safe
Thank you for a great photo tour. Regards.
I loved it! It's beautiful!

it's so much fun just watching you photograph things and your perspective is definitely unique. Take care and be safe out there....

Thanks for sharing amazing photography
I like your moving water photos. And I'm with you. I like seeing the detail in the water. Not just a fuzzy white blob.
Team detailed water!
Thanks for braving the mist, rain and possible faerie abduction.🙏🏼🖖🏼
Congrats for your sponsor, again an interesting and nice video. 😊

love your photos and videos, grtz from the netherlands 🇳🇱
Well done Victoria. I congratulate you for your work. I recommend: always check that the camera is firmly connected to the tripod ... a cordial greeting. 😉🙂👍
Fantastic video. Congratulations.
Love your presentation style so n your videos. I reckon you did well in those conditions to capture such lovely shots..and make a film about it! 👍
The first two images were quite spectacular !
... and well done on your sponsor, Courtney!
Very cool outing you had despite the weather. We in the USA east coast didn’t get a lot of rain. You keep it simple and straight forward. Great work.
Great shots as always.
Very inspiring! Thank you
Congrats on the sponsor!
CONGRATULATIONS on your new camera. Take care of your camera and yourself
Another wonderful video. I love your honest reflections on the day out and that you're not afraid to admit to disappointment. Congratulations on the first sponsor. I look forward to the next video!
enjoyed this realy nice shots as well
Super!!! Greatings from Poland :)
Enjoyed the video as usual Courtney.
Congratulations on your first sponsorship.

1:15 - great capture!
Congratulations on your sponsorship, we'll deserved, as you make some high-quality videos.

Next video. 😊👍
Subscribed as soon as I saw 2:54-2:57. You're excellent.
I liked the long exposure image. The trails in the water are really interesting. With a bit better lighting conditions it could be great. For the purposes of RUclips where we are only seeing each image for a few seconds, at least.
Hi Courtney. Greetings from the Great White North. Just started to watch your videos, really enjoying them.
Could you please make a video on what's in my bag or your camera equipments ☺
It was awesome you were out in the soggy conditions, the settings were perfect. I love the mist image, and even just before you put the vertical crop outline I was debating whether it would have worked well. But at the end I think the horizontal view shows more of the rising spray of the cascade.

Another great video and you did so well considering the constant drizzle. Great images
Can't beat a stroll around the Afon Mellte - Afon Pyrddin areas. I agree with you - too much "water vapour" in the river just doesn't look natural. Diolch.
Вы молодец!
Love your videos and your slightly querky personality.
I was wondering what your take on the d780 is and why you went with the older d750

Thank you Lisa! I'm thankful for no accidents this week too haha. I think that's the first time I've photographed waterfalls that full so it was an interesting experience.
I would have pleased with the long exposure, each to there own. Congrats on getting MPN Sponsorship
Thanks Paul. Absolutely, not quite for me but I can appreciate why other photographers like that kind of style.
